May be the uploaded server is considering the local time zone? In this case somewhere in America may be. Anyways all speculation right now.

could be due to someone in another TZ publishing it

anyway the absense of any official statements and press briefings means imo that a larger war may be imminent OR talks going on behind scenes via some intermediary like france/uk to de-escalate and stand down (orange gorilla is busy in vietnam).

we could see the leadership speak to nation this evening. it could go either way.

Wng Cmdr capture is real.

51 Sq, AC No - CU-2328. Seems like a trainer aircraft, meaning there is one more pilot to be accounted for.

If that really is our pilot, I am afraid PAF has redeemed itself partially. Cuz we will never see those 300 JEM bodies and he will be paraded before the media 24/7....and where is the Paki pilot?

Lets wait for Indian sources. Why would a training aircraft be near the LOC?

Which could also mean that someone loaded it from the western hemisphere. The fact that the official pak channels like rundi tv are not saying anything means that it could be fake

it is based in Srinagar

but what exactly a 2 seat non-combat Mig21U was doing close to LOC is not yet explained.

This is a terrible outcome for IAF today. First the helicopter crash and now a downed jet with a captured pilot. I think GoI statement must be imminent.

There were morning tweets that said that one of the pilot landed on the Indian side while the other one on the PoK side.

It sounds extremely foolish on IAF part to send a trainer aircraft loitering near LOC when tensions are high. So need to wait for official confirmation

Paul, Nikhil
you guys want TSP to be taught a lesson ? and cannot take the capture of 1 pilot? already passing comments?

decide what you want and be prepared for far more losses if this thing escalates.

lets not be the stereotypical middle ages indian army who dithers and starts leaving the field at the loss of a general or two.

the real fight has not even started.

Looks like a air defenice trap ... u chase and they have folks on ground or missiles close by . I think tipnis was alluding to this. No problems if its happened. Part of game but we have achieved our aim. Yes handlebar moustaches are allowed. Upto modi ji to escalate...

This can now be said without doubt -

The Pakistani military now has Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman under custody. He is a MiG 21 pilot.

Hoping he remains safe.

Now operations should be objective based, time to take back PoK.

The only pics I saw on twitter seemed to resemble a Mig - 21 Tail Horizontal Stabilizer corroborating the story that Pakistan has shotdown a Mig 21 and captured one Indian Pilot who landed in POK. Waiting for corroboration from IAF officially. CNN reports that Pakistan claims that 2 IAF fighter were shot down which if true will come out shortly.

No corroboration of any PAF jets being downed so far. IMO Far better to be fighting the PAF and PA than random jihadis who are essentially cannon fodder. It would be foolish to underestimate a professional Air Force and also we must note that China has supplied some of it advanced weaponry and sensors to Pakistan which is seeing action both A2A and G2A.

thats is part of the de-escalatory play, ie to offer to return in sound condition to red cross.

This is war. And loss of service personnel, however sad, is bound to happen.

What we shouldn't do is to propagate images or videos of personnel purportedly captured or killed in action - through any medium. The families have a right to hear about it through the right channels if any of these casualty news turns out to be true. We owe them that.

We want Pak to pay a price and change the dynamics here, then it is only obvious that we will have casualties of war. We can and will try to get back any service personnel captured alive, without a doubt.

With other countries including Chine etc started to issue statement that de-escalate the tension; Pak may be pressurized to handover the pilot back and stop things further getting escalated...

Sincere hopes that the boy come back sound and safe

I don't want our leaders suing for peace now. PAF has attacked our military aircrafts . Suitable response needs to be given. We were expecting this, but wish we were more alert and avoided these losses. That F-16 pilot we captured needs to be paraded before media quickly too.

Modi did cut short his scheduled program for an emergency briefing/meeting. Something out the ordinary has occurred that needs his involvement.

By evening it should be clear.
