rajouri and budgam are >100km apart. at first I was thinking these paf jets may have fired on the mi17 on their run. but unlikely if they took a straight route. iaf radar unit will know for sure.

BREAKING: Pakistan Air Force fighter jets attempted to violate airspace at LoC Rajouri a short while ago. Initial information suggests they turned back after running into an IAF Combat Air Patrol (CAP) that's been on since early this morning.

There seems to be two incidents,

1. Mi-17 crash on India side.
2. Another (unconfirmed) fighter which fell on Porki side. Probably an IAF Mig-21, pilot alive but held.

PAF seems to have dropped bombs in Naushera sector.

This is full scale conflict gentlemen, no more speculation.

Are there any MiG-21 bases up there? It seems to be an odd place to base or operate a short-legged, old unreliable plane with engine issues.

I mean, if anything goes wrong and the pilot has to eject, he/she could end up in POK.

Probably the Mig-21 might have been shot down by Hand Held SAM or by Fighter , It happened during kargil which they will deny

The F-16 entering in to Indian Airspace must be a bait to pull Indian fighter across LOC and shoot it down

Two PAF F-16 jets led the intrusion, are said to have dropped weapons in four locations along the LoC. IAF Su-30s on Combat Air Patrol in the area likely engaged, pushed back.

I hope we shoot down a couple of then and take the pilots prisoners and negotiate release of ours in exchange for them

X Posted from the Terroristan thread.

Balakot Islamic Terrorist training camp strike by India is described by the US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo in his statement as “Indian counter-terrorism actions”.

Demands the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan take steps for “de-escalating current tensions by avoiding military action” and also takes “meaningful action against terrorist groups operating on its soil”.

Pompeo’s statement is not the usual equal=equal US statements of old.

Concern Regarding India-Pakistan Tensions

Press Statement
Michael R. Pompeo
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
February 26, 2019

Following Indian counter-terrorism actions on February 26, I spoke with Indian Minister of External Affairs Swaraj to emphasize our close security partnership and shared goal of maintaining peace and security in the region. I also spoke to Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi to underscore the priority of de-escalating current tensions by avoiding military action, and the urgency of Pakistan taking meaningful action against terrorist groups operating on its soil. I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost. I also encouraged both Ministers to prioritize direct communication and avoid further military activity.

NO SPECULATION

NDTV
NEW DELHI: All airspace at Jammu, Srinagar and Leh, close to the border with Pakistan, has been shut down indefinitely, sources say.
Commercial flights have been put on hold.

There have been reports of Pakistani fighter jets violating Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Rajouri sectors.

Methinks, they will intrude, drop bombs on random unpopulated places, claim they killed 100s shot-down a couple of MIGs and go back to rewrite their history books. They will not dare engage with the IAF. This way, their domestic audience is happy. And if they don't hit anyone on our side, our IAF won't tear them a new one. So, they can consider the matter closed.

I predict it won't escalate further, unless we decide to do chaddi-utharo for a few more camps. In fact this may be the best time to do so. Fog of War and all that. They don't even have to acknowledge that we went in a 2nd time.

They are claiming one Mi-17 as Mig-21. Caught in their own white lie, as they were trying to pass it as their own kill.

Other claim is still unconfirmed, as their claim of arrested pilot can be easily corroborated.

In response to PAF strikes this morning as released by MoFA, IAF crossed LOC. PAF shot down two Indian aircrafts inside Pakistani airspace. One of the aircraft fell inside AJ&K while other fell inside IOK. One Indian pilot arrested by troops on ground while two in the area.

That statement looks chaotic and might not be even from Bakistani official sources!

I would suggest to go to OpIndia

https://www.opindia.com/2019/02/initial-reports-indicate-pakistani-airforce-tried-to-violate-indian-airspace-in-border-areas-of-nowshera-rajouri-pushed-back-by-india/

OpIndia is more mature in reporting the news and do not twist it.
