the sophisticated and light nature of the structure and material points more to a late model f16 than a old mig21 airframe imho. however only ground crew, cutaway experts and OEM could say for sure.

Dear Mods,

Once the action starts, can we have three dedicated thread for air theatre, naval theatre and ground theatre? Keeping updates on the one single discussion thread was mind numbing.

Regards.

That would mean we have to check multiple threads to get the latest news/action  Also, more work for mods too as they have to shepherd the flock to keep sheep in line :( I prefer to see all updates in one thread. JMHO

it does not have the sophisticated thin chicklet type structure of the mighty GE engine

beauty is their senior general is there in the pic - so cannot wriggle out of this pic.

it also explains the 3 parachutes being reported (2 seater F16 block52D)
but even the 1 seater has same engine.

with the engine casing broken in this state, any plane would crash in flames

imo its the part of engine thats surrounded by the yellow clamp things ... there would be a inner structure combustion chamber inside it or a series of high pressure compressor stages.

this part being blasted out points to a SAM exploding in the tailpipe.

They cannot hide a F-16 loss. US would have the data before Pakis.

The pratt has the same fluted metal section in the center. The r25 very clearly does not.

A video footage, has the imagery of the still photograph too of nozzle fairing/engine cladding (?).
It is definitely not Mig-21, so I guess it is the Paki F16.

Initial production used PW F100. Later versions used GE F110 for increased thrust.

That does not look like Mig-21 engine for sure , The size of that cladding looks big enough to be something like F-16 engine.

The picture analysis from ANI is reportedly done by IAF

US performs all the periodic checks of all the equipment sold to pakistan. If some F-16 is missing, it will be known during the periodic checks.

That cylindrical thing that they carry into the truck looks like a drop tank to me, definitely not ones carried by any mig21 in iaf livery.

Amirkhans have tracking devices and gateways for backdoor entry in all the equipment they sell even to their NATO counterparts. I'm sure they will not sell even a coffee mug to TSP without a tracking device.

Can we confirm the type of the plane? This looks like pre-upgrade, since the PW engine looks different on Block 52. http://www.f-16.net/f-16-news-article3906.html

PW F100 older engine and newer engine both use that chicklet type casing struct.

one of the pics from that area has a destroyed rear section and a PA guy taking a pic with cellphone, that one is the Mig21 - the crude internal structure, small engine inner tube and wavy shape of the flame stabilizer is R25.

pic posted above with senior officer on the phone is american engine. dont think anyone can saw which mark of f16 unless they operate a f16.

both fell in the same area so the terrain etc is similar and so is the sand camo dress of the PA units.

These pictures have been released through ISPR controlled journalist accounts on Twitter. Clearly they had these from yesterday and chose to release only after it became clear that the blackmail over taking WingCo Abhi hostage is not working. This is their next chaal so to say, in this escalation / de-escalation game. To me, looks like they are saying - see we are giving you this. you have downed our vaunted F16. Score is 1-1, let's get back to business-as-usual.
