yes its way above the 1-pulse energy profile of feeble manpads. once can barely see the contrails circling around and sound not carry much.

both were downed by a2a missiles. perhaps other planes were in the fight.

Ok, some more digging - the Bakis got a second hand batch of F16s in 2014. So fits perfectly with a 2-seater being downed, it's an F-16B. http://www.f-16.net/f-16_users_article14.html

imo Namo has opened a increased space below the full mobilization(parakram) or war(71) - to impose costs on the pak state.

its upto the services to figure out how to exploit this increased headroom at least cost and max effect, with full political support extended from PMO.

pakis have been moving around tanks , yelling and howling about war , .... for us life is naarmal nothing mobilized. we are peace loving, pot bellied yindu cowards onlee.

Cross Posted from the Terroristan thread:

Well captured IAF Wing Co Varthaman notwithstanding, this skirmish (even if it deescalates from this point on) has blown up the equilibrium for good.

Terroristan proxies were imposing costs on us with impunity with glee - the price India and its citizens have paid over the last couple of decades is incalculable

1. Cost of raising 10's of RR battalions

2. Cost of 100's of paramilitary, RR and Regular ARMY lives lost fighting the terrorists and uniformed Jihadi's, BATs in border skirmishes

3. Guests at every 5* hotel in India have to go through metal detector

4. 1000's of civilians killed in 10's of terrorist attacks outside of J & K

all the while the UPA alliance was busy issuing demarches, Terroristani's would threaten nuclear war, arrest/ban sundry jehadi's under U.S. pressure, China continuing to fight a proxy battle against India through Terroristan while the Paki RAPE and Military/Intelligence terror complex went about their merry ways gloating at our predicament.

That equation has changed dramatically. Any terrorist attack in India will invite retaliation against Terroristan. So true equal-equal established i.e. Terror attacks in India = Carried out by Pak jihadis (both the uniformed and bearded varieties).

The rules of the game have changed. Time to keep up the pressure and ensure that their Air Farce, Navy are on hightened alert burning POL, stock market nose diving, running out of forex, airspace closed the costs add up really quick. Exactly what should have happened two decades ago.

Pakis have been waiting 10 years for Cold Start (ready to do TNW blackmail naatak in response). But Modi is not even giving them a lukewarm start. All they can do is stick to the 2010 script, while India implements a 2019 strategy they can't understand.

Score is 1-1, let's get back to business-as-usual.
I saw these pics yesterday too: https://southfront.org/first-photos-sho ... ar-online/
I did notice that engine fairing is odd compared to other pics but was more interested in what was happening to the pilot/pilots in then developing story.
I don't think its a psy-ops game as you suggested.

So a few days ago, I heard the paki foreign minister fulminating on how he was warned during a summit meeting which included Lavrov that Lavrov had warned pakistan to be careful since India may launch some operation against pakistan in coming weeks.

No wonder then why Itar-Tass and pravda RT etc are all carrying paki reports only.

Trump doesn't look like he is in the loop at all. But then he himself admitted that he won't take intelligence briefings since he has all the intelligence himself.

Breaking Trump meeting with Kim ends without a deal so I expect him to distract everyone from that by jumping to negotiate a peace deal here.

Modi needs to clearly state this in one of his speeches -
A failed terrorist state like Pakistan can never dream of dictating terms to India.
India will choose the terms and play by its own rules.
We will decide when and how to end the <punishment>.
Till then, Pakis can stay awake every night, shivering and wondering where the next jhapad is going to come from.

@ANI: Sources: There will be a joint press briefing by Army and Air Force in New Delhi at 5 pm today

Hmm. Escalation or de-escalation? I hope it's the former.

Lavrov (Ru) would've been briefed by the GOI that we'd had enough. It gave Pak a window of opportunity to arrest and hand over the JEM leaders as the intl. community was demanding. But the Pakis played their usual game of charades. There is nothing to show that Ru is supporting Pak, why would they lease us Akula subs, sell S-400 s, etc.?

Let's hope that the interregnum is a precursor to a tri-service blow to devastate the Paki military machine.Grabbing territory in POK has presented itself. The fruit is ripe for the plucking.

Press briefing usually is after an event.

Has some new action taken place? Or is there a plan for one between now and 5:00 pm?

Or, are they going to declare *limited action over* closing this phase?

Just getting some empty promise from Pakistan will be the repitition of Parliament strike and 26/11 of no terror from our land blah blah

he has his own problems in many fronts - cohen and SDNY issues, mueller and collusion investigations, national emergency on wall and confrontation with democratic congress.

he'll lean on folks like pompeo ..

my worry is, the ones who led him to get folks like robin raphael, will feed him the "poor pak, big bad india, we need pak for blah blah" stuff

but that would jar against his image of saying things as it is, hardline against islamism etc.

let's see..

To make sure that PAF is not shot on the their side of LOC , Else many lock can end with BVR engagement considering the range of these missiles , There must be some code of engagement if intruded deep into Indian airspace then use WVR or Gun

Don't think so. There are multiple clues all of which point to more action.

Newbie question that's bugging me: can we not engage intruding Paki jets with surface to air missiles instead of dogfight?

India must demand nothing less than thr handing over of Paki terrorists and closure of all terror camps, otherwise it gives us the right to hit them and their Paki handlets ANYWHERE in Pak.The PM should publicly state that. The entire globe knows that Pak is the epi-centre of Islamic terror and will with dpl.pressure either bring Pak to heel or risk devastating Indian military action. "Alea jacta est...." as Caesar said, "the die is cast", we have crossed our Rubicon.

Both these releases are big and must be making tsp squirm. They can expect to live in blackout for many more days at the very least.
