India, China to Invest in EU's Satellite-Navigation Netwrok
[Bloomberg, 30 October 2003]

India is joining China in investing in the European Union's planned 3.2 billion-euro ($3.8 billion) satellite navigation network, EU Transport Commissioner Loyola de Palacio said. "We also have India that wants to sign for a higher amount than the 200 million euros by China," De Palacio told a Brussels news conference after the EU-China pact was signed in Beijing. India will invest "something on the order of 300 million euros." The netwrok, dubbed Galileo, is in its 1 billion-euro development phase and is scheduled to start opening by 2008. The 30-satellite system will help control road, rail, ship traffic.
