Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Jagan ji, as we speak about updating IAF contents, adding couple of latest AWACS pictures would be good idea. Adding 'surveillance aircrafts' category in aircraft specs section may do the job.

Instead of having the A-50s in the Transports category can you create a new category for them

Any chance of moving the the psy/ops media watch thread from General Discussion to Strategic Issues forum?
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
A question as a mtter of fact
When threads from GD forum are trashed
-will it be visible to the public as all threads in the trash can?
- it will remain invisible to the public and be trashed invisibly?
regards.

Doubtful. Does it even serve a useful purpose anymore? The GD forum is all that is keeping it from being consigned to trash.Aditya_V wrote:Any chance of moving the the psy/ops media watch thread from General Discussion to Strategic Issues forum?

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
since the trash can is to be emptied soon and brfites are told to save any thing of interest ,which is cumbersome at short notice.Emptying the trash can
It will be better to upload all that data on rapidshare , deposit files, megaupload,.so that in future these texts can be accessed easily and does not presents burden on brf server either.
Admins please do that .
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
While I have no problem with emptying the trash can (indeed, a vast majority of the threads should be killed asap), I think there are a few threads that we should keep for posterity, especially given that they can help corroborate info or provide a guide later... threads like:
- Psy ops and Media watch
- Elections 2008-2009
- LCA news and discussion
- Artillery and Armor thread
- Indian Army Discussion
- MRCA thread
These are the threads that would be of real help, say 2-4 years down the line when trying to figure out what happened... as it happens, BRF is one of the few places we can find a comprehensive view of these issues. If nothing, can the relevant posts/news from these threads be saved please....
Thanks

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Dear admins,Mods
I believe the quality of the tsp thread (one of the most popular in brf) is degrading day by day , as more abusive language for pakistan is being used and analysis of reports is decreasing ,adding more rubbish in this thread.
If this is untrue delete my post or please try to have some order.
Abusing pakistanis should be confined to benis thread.
tsp thread only for analysis of events .

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Hello Admins/Mods.
I was wondering if BRF can invite some of the members of Indian Think-Tanks, like by personal invitation, or some other noble way. This way we can add to the value of the discussions, and knowledge flow as well. Also being in touch with more pros. will streamline the discussions properly. I am not saying the current posters are low on knowledge. Rather they are excellent. But there is always a scope for improvement.
So it would be good to have some members from CPR, IDSA, CIPRA, Strategic Foresight Group, etc.
.
Is this possible?

The plane looks like An-124.
And there was a interesting news related to this on June 2 , 2009

The four Russian-made helicopters are owned by the U.S. Army. Two are at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and two are in Slovakia. They will be flown to Pakistan on a Russian-made AN- 124 aircraft, one of the world’s largest transports, according to the officials. They said they didn’t know who owned this plane, a model used by private transport companies worldwide.

It is going to fall further. Many will see a drop of 15-20%. Some as much as 50% fall.Ajatshatru wrote:Admin/Mods.
How come my post count has gone down from 114 to 76 in just a couple of hours?
We are deleting the threads (actually now just one huge merged thread of 35,000 posts) in the Trash Can.
As that Musharraf thread is slowly killed (purging the forum database is a slow process), posts counts of most members will drop. Some will revert to trainee or brfite.

^^^ Only Singha will be able to retain BRFite status while rest of us will be busted to Lance Naiks and Sepoys

The forum time appears to be showing wrong time. I have time set to UTC-8hrs ( PDT) and it show time as June 22 12:28am when it is actually June 21 5:35pm.

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
First, the time setting on the server seems incorrect. The UTC is almost five minutes behind the actual time.
Second, the time is always reported in UTC, not per the users set time preference.

It used to work fine for me with the time format that I had set in the forum's user controls panel. It used to be 5 mins ahead, but it was close. Now, it is not honouring the user setting in the forum control panel.

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Is there a mobile version of the forum? I have a windows mobile device and it is pain to navigate to BR forums on it. Many websites like msnbc, cnn etc detect if request is coming from mobile device and render content so that they show up properly on mobile devices.
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Admins,
There used to be a link on the top of forum page to navigate directly to main site or
army,navy n airforce section...its gone now??

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
^^
you can go to the mainsite by clicking the BR logo.
but the rest of the post raises valid points. what happened to those short-cuts ?
please bring them back. and while we are at it can the BR logo itself be made a little larger ?
current version is too small to read anything.
Jagan and/or Seetal, please look into this.
thanks.

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
so that has been changed too !
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
fixed the disclaimer and links. will be trying out a couple of things. can roll back anytime!
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Jagan,
header and the warning under the 'new post' buttons look nice!
Could the disclaimer be moved to the bottom of the page? The header would look better that way?

Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
Since Indies are mostly righties(apologies to the lefties.. if its considered a generalisation ), I would suggest switching the "New Post" and "Post Reply" buttons.tsriram wrote:Jagan,

agree with Tilak.
agree with Tilak.
Re: Site Suggestions & Forum Feedback
hmm.... (reg the leftie vs rightie...)..... perhaps its a good idea to have the "reply to" button in a difficult to access place. we want people to think before hitting that button
BTW if any of the jingos here can come up with a better header image / collage for the forum - please do send it to me airforce @ bharat-rakshak . com . Header image should be 96 px high and 2000 px wide with logo on the left as above. The current header is borrowed from the land-forces site.

Under the Division Badge Section, the designation against the 39 Mountain Division reads only as "39 Infantry Division". The same should be "39 Moutain Division".
Thanks

The Logo is good, don't you think the sanksrit words in the logo should be printed in sanskrit apart from English
