Callsign? :D Is NATO prescribing call signs now?
Sounds more like their name for the T-50.
Fits in well with foxbat, fulcrum, flanker....

...Fishbed, Foxbat, Frogfoot and so on.

All of them Effing Effs.

I wonder what the guys at NATO will call the T-50 as. Or what they call the LCA as.

Callsign for T-50 during the first flight - "Fiery" (Огненный; Ognenniy)

Excuse me, "Fiery" is the callsign of air traffic control officer of airfield Dzemgi rather than T-50

Nato reporting name for PAK FA is "FireFox" and for Indian Su-30MKI is "Flanker-H" i am not sure what the LCA is called.

I guess Nato code names are derived such that the assigned names are clearly(sharply) sounded while communicating ,
thus pakfa or rapski would sound better.

AFAIR

Fighters - starting with F (Flanker, Flogger, Fishbed)
Bombers - starting with B (Bear, Backfire)
Transports - starting with C (Candid, Condor)
Helicopters - starting with H (Hind, Havoc)
Others - starting with M (Midas, Mainstay)

People are posting things like....
First round at a height of 600m, the second and third at an altitude of 900m, the fourth at a height of 700m.
If take off will be carried out from runway number 01, then the plane will circle clockwise, if from number 19, then counterclockwise.
Wind Direction today (Tuesday) lets fly from the 1-st runway, Wednesday-Friday from 19-th.

Same cookie jar!

Anyways, it is Tuesday in RU. Will allow a few hours for the wafting fragrance of vodka to drift away in the cool breeze around Dzemgi Airport.

If parked sats could get something like this it would be just fine.

According to a Russian poster who claims to be in the know, the PAK-FA is to fly in 48 hrs. ( i.e. Thurs.) with pics and video released several hours later.

Working for me. Nice pic of YF-22 and (my favorite) YF-23 Black Widow II together. I always felt the 23 had a more radical and exciting shape than the 22.

This seems to be one of the most accepted designs of pakfa , amongst others. Looks closer to f22

And this is the Conformal Radar arrangement. I still don't like the way the exhaust is rendered.

HERE IS AN INTERVIEW...POSTED YESTERDAY...TALKS ABOUT SOME CAUSES.....!

Original is here...!

Some quotes..!
. Aerodynamic configuration PAK FA is slightly more conservative compared to the F-22, but without a doubt, the car will be implemented by a set of measures to reduce its visibility in all (not just radar) physical fields. For the PAK FA is being developed not just a radar with an active grid, but an entire multi-purpose integrated radio electronic system, which will contain five built-in antennas.

Is it supposed to fly in Tuesday?

Yes, the rumor is. In russian forums about military aviation some people are proclaiming that it will fly 28.02.10 at Komsomolsk-na-Amure. All Suhoi's VIPs are already there. Rumor is that even Pogosyan himself is there.

Callsign for T-50 during the first flight - "Fiery"

No. It's a callsign for Dzemgy airfield's air control.
http://maps.google.ru/maps/place?ftid=0 ... 0%B8&hl=ru
It's an experimental airfield for Su's.

Original is here...!

The source of the interview is smth like sh*tpile.

I guess you mean 28.01.10 ....

If its 28.02.10, the anticipating fanbois might end up waging jihad against Sukhoi !

The same link also says
But now in the United Aircraft Building Corporation will open prospects for the use in the PAK FA program features both in size.

Does it mean we will soon see a Russian equivalent of F 35?

It also says
And in the Far East, some of our neighbors are to Russia's territorial claims, and these neighbors is also quite likely to have a fifth-generation fighter, including heavy ones

Is he speaking of PRC? If yes, our apprehension in MMRCA with respect to role of russia in event of Sino Indo conflict is mitigated. Isn't it?

well, you can see previous version even now :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg3MF_e7YX4
this is version of 1994. Yes, i think that there will be lightweigth single-engine fighter. But when - i cannot even imagine. Nowdays it's equivalent will be Mig-35.

Sino Indo conflict

you're joking :) it's unimaginable situation. You both have nukes, you know. And even hydrogen bombs. And both of you have more than one billion brave people. Why to commit a suicide in such a complex way?

quite likely to have a fifth-generation fighter

What's a PRC? Probable chinese 5-gen? Well, they are very far from it. Especially in most difficult part of 5-gen-plane - the supersonic-cruise turbofan engine with thrust vectoring.

Revisit the question, it was regarding F 35 equivalent, not what was developed/in development in 1994

So should we stop collaborating with Russians in PAk FA? Stop testing A 3/5? Cancel AKULA 2 Lease?????

Go thru the article. It says Pak fa will have useful life till 2040/50. Wouldn't they(PRC) produce a 5th gen fighter till then?

Well, F-35 does not even exist in production :) And by the way, it is not so cool, like probable PAKFA and nowdays F-22. In the terms of 5-gen plane it isn't even 5-gen at all.

So should we stop collaborating with Russians in PAk FA? Stop testing A 3/5? Cancel AKULA 2 Lease?????

It's your money, after all. The threat lies not in Chine, believe me. It's over the seas and far away.

Go thru the article. It says Pak fa will have useful life till 2040/50. Wouldn't they(PRC) produce a 5th gen fighter till then?

It will have usefull life until 2050, if it will be manufactured in middle 2020ies. Again, in terms of Sino-Indian war hi-precision ICBMs with nonnuclear warheads posess much more of a threat to Chine, than any amount of PAK FA or BlackShark.
You have Pakistan nearby - that is much more of a target for 5-gen fighter of your possession.

Ok.....I think it is not about Pakistan or China....or threats from far away...It is more about peace with strength.

I think...repeating steps of Ashoka :: the great..is not wise.

Anyhow....Just one OT.... 8).

cool factor! in aerodynamic terms?

well, 5-gen distinguishing features are like those:
1. non-afterburner supersonic cruise speed
2. supermaneuverability
3. stealth
4. active phased radar grid
5. integration in "digital battlefield" systems and hi-intellectual avionics

Points 4 and 5 are present in F-35. Point 1 surely not present. Full thrust-vectoring, in my opinion cannot be reached in one-nozzle engine. And stealth... well. No INDEPENDENT SOURCE cannot verify stealth capabilities degree of both fighters - F-22 and F-35. Radars of SAMs progress much more quickly than stealth technologies. Remember - the idea of stealth reached american minds only after reading of Ufimcev's works. Can you possibly imagine, that USSR was able to step out of any possible opportunity overwhelm yankees in military technology?
P.S.
Well, i really respect Ashoka or Gandhi. But - Si vis pacem, para bellum. Besides, war race is very useful for science.
