The parachute regiment still has the old camo? I thought that the "elite" units would be the first to switch over to latest camo...

A child watches as an Indian paramilitary trooper stands guard outside a polling station during the sixth phase of local elections in Shangus Anantnag, some 55 kms south of Srinagar on December 17, 2008. Separatist politicians and rebels have called for a poll boycott, arguing elections strengthen New Delhi's hold over the disputed Muslim-majority region. However, voters still turned up at polling booths. The Islamic militant group blamed for last month's attacks in Mumbai have vowed to continue its armed struggle against India's hold over a part of the Muslim-majority region of Kashmir. ^^^^ Interesting to see the SPG adopting the 3Point Sling.. Could it be a result of Cross training with the Israelis? Marcos , NSG, Para SF dont do that yet.

Also, no mohican haircut , Hollywood style kneepad wearing SPG this time around? IIRC, they were unveiled at last years R-day for the first time!!

the SPG essential has 3 Wings (4 If you include the Helo Wing).. 1) Proximity Security, 2) Counter Assault Unit , 3) Counter Sniper Unit.

The Guys with the Body Armour , etc on the PMs visit to Kashmir and the RDay last year were from the Counter Assault Unit. Larger Crowd to Manage , they were spread out over the entire Threat Area. The Guys in suits are from Proximity Security. They essentially cling to the PM like his shadow. They also wear Kevlar, Etc but dont need the heavy presense as the CAU.

PS as a tit bit. The Proximity Security also has a Blanket Lined with Kevlar that thrown over the Principle incase of a Threat.

It is the good old 7.62mm SLR with an external attachment for lobbing grenades, most likely the high explosive variety, definitely not a smoke grenade.

Doubt its Completely raised yet..But its in the Offing
In the pipeline are special armoured cars for the force. The SPG will get its own wings-four of 12 VVIP triple-engined helicopters being contracted from Italy's Augusta-Westland at a cost of Rs 110 crore each. Who said protecting the chief executive came cheap.
http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index ... =in&latn=2

The SPG will get its own "Marine One" sort of.

Yes they do. They need to learn more than One Skill as well (Transport, Operations , Intelligence). However do keep in the Mind the Guys who are the BEST get to be part of the Inner Proximity Security. (i.e The best SHots , The ones with best reflexes ,etc)

As for a Body Double for MMS who knows.. But they do have decoy cars and stuff. The 3 BMWs purchased for the Prime Minister are Exactly the same , even with the Same Number Plate and all Distinquishing Pattern Marks.

Correct. And to add detail, it looks like a Mk II rifle grenade (a fragmentation grenade) on the SLR.
