GoI must call on the European Union to demand immediate action to end the centuries of shameful neglect, unacceptable discrimination, rabid abuse and total disenfranchisement of Gypsies. Italy continues to be the leading abuser of Gypsies.

In fact, GoI has all the right to do so - Gypsies are Indian diaspora.

Thanks,

Clamp down on religious violence, Italy to India
A day after the Vatican condemned the violence against Christians in Orissa, Italy on Thursday said it has decided to summon the Indian ambassador in Rome to stress the need for "decisive action" to prevent and crack down on religious violence in India.

The message to be delivered to India's envoy is "the strong expectation of the government for decisive, preventative and repressive action on the part of Indian authorities" against acts of "unacceptable violence," said a statement issued following a cabinet meeting.

On Wednesday, Pope Benedict XVI "firmly condemned" the violence in Orissa and called upon religious and civil authorities "to work together to restore peaceful co-existence and harmony between the different religious communities."

"While firmly condemning the attacks on human lives, whose sacred character must be respected by all, I extend my spiritual comfort and solidarity to the monks and nuns who have been put through such a difficult test," he had said.

Six CRPF personnel killed in Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh

Six CRPF personnel, including an officer, were killed in a landmine attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Friday.

The powerful blast blew up the CRPF jeep which was on its way from Konda to Narayanpur near Chheribeda, about 350 kms from here, killing one sub inspector, four constables and a driver, CRPF officials said.

EJ sympathy for maoists

http://www.virtueonline.org/portal/modu ... oryid=8916

Into the mix we must also include the Maoist groups, well armed with AK 47s and grenades, who operate in an area from Assam to Karnataka, 100 miles wide by 120 miles long. in Bihar and Orissa they have been raiding police stations, killing their inmates and removing the arms. These Maoist groups have not touched the Christians because they look after the poor. Indeed they have been protecting the Christians against the Hindu militancy. It appears that the Swami who was killed was seen as a militant leader with blood on his hands from killing Christians and asking that Christians be removed from the area. It appears that one of these Maoist groups decided to kill him.

How the church justifies attacks on hindus

http://www.compassdirect.org/en/display ... ement=5210

Communist group in Orissa state suspected of instigating Christians to retaliate.
NEW DELHI, February 1 (Compass Direct News) – With a strong presence in Orissa state’s Kandhamal district, Maoists are suspected of using recent violence in the area to recruit frustrated Christians and goad them into retaliating, Christian leaders said.

Extreme Marxist groups, among them Maoists, may find affected areas “happy hunting grounds” for recruitment, warned Dr. John Dayal, a member of India’s National Integration Council.

Dayal told Compass that Maoists’ normally recruit in areas in which state governments fail to deliver on promises, “where the rich, the powerful, the religious bigots rule with impunity,” and administrations are thoroughly corrupt.

There were also reports of houses of Hindus being burnt.

“There may be vested interests or just misguided persons – and many agents of provocateurs, which is more likely – who are trying to goad the misguided and politically naive youth and seniors who have been pushed into a corner,” said Dayal, also secretary general of the AICC.

He added that area people may see both church and government as helpless before Laxmananda Saraswati, who allegedly incited mobs to launch anti-Christian attacks.

“The fact that Saraswati is not only roaming scot-free but also holding rallies in Kandhamal,” he said, “must be most galling to the youths amongst the Christians of all denominations and ethnic status

Who Torched Hindu Houses?

While the identities of those who attacked houses belonging to Hindus remains largely elusive, Christian leaders suspect Maoists instigated some ill-advised Christians to retaliate.

Jacob Pradhan, general secretary of the Kandhamal district chapter of the Christian Endeavour Union, told Compass that around 100 houses belonging to Hindus were burnt in Brahmanigaon, Godapur, Barakhama and some other villages on December 26 and 27. Pradhan, who visited Brahmanigaon and Godapur villages to take stock of the situation, suspected that these houses were torched by sections of “misguided Christians” possibly incited by Maoists.

“You can read Christian-sounding names of Maoists who are reported in local newspapers as having been arrested,” Pradhan explained. “It seems to me that some from Christian families who are not religious and involved in the Maoist movement – like those from other faiths – instigated attacks on the houses of Hindus.”

The Rev. P.R. Parichha, president of the Orissa chapter of the AICC, said it was also possible that some Christians may have retaliated out of “desperation.”

Christians maintained, however, that isolated incidents of retaliation should not be used to suggest any Maoist-Christian partnership, as alleged by some Hindutva groups.

According to a January 10 report by private TV channel, NDTV, the VHP has accused Christian establishments and non-profit groups in Kandhamal and neighboring Gajapati district of having links with Maoists and diverting foreign funds to ultra-leftists to retain their allegiance.

NGO-Maoist link in Kandhamal
Sampad Mahapatra
Thursday, January 10, 2008, (Kandhmal)
The Orissa government will inquire into allegations by Hindu outfits that there is an unholy nexus between some NGOs operating in riot-hit Kandhamal and the Maoists and that the ultras did play a role in the communal strife.

This is not the first time that the state government has invoked the Maoist bogey to divert attention from the real issues. But the NGO sector has welcomed the idea and hopes the truth will replace myths.

The police suspect that the man who was a part of the mob that attacked the Hindu colony of Brhmanigaon last month may have been a Maoist.

The armed attack on a police station, the recovery of weapons from nearby villages and Brahmanigaon's proximity to a well known Naxal zone have led to the suspicion that Maoists were behind the retaliatory attack by Christians.

" We suspect they had a hand and in fact the attack in Brahamanigaon could have been engineered by them," said Tarun K Mishra, Home Secretary, Orissa.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has been alleging that certain Christian establishments and NGOs operating in Kandhmal and Gajapati districts had links with Maoists and were diverting foreign funds to Leftist ultras just to keep them on their side.

"Two NGOs working in our village were behind the attack. They have been publicly saying that have links with naxalites and will drive away all Hindus with their support," said Jogeswar Patra, Brahmanigaon.

The state government has ordered a police investigation into the NGO-Maoist links and hopes to include this as part of the Judicial probe. But NGOs say every time there is social unrest they are the first targets. An inquiry, they hope, will clear all doubts.

"If there are some naxal-led activities which are found to be happening in those areas and if government suspects an NGO nexus, I think it's high time that this should be absolutely unraveled," said Jagadanand, Prominent NGO Leader & Secretary, CYSD.

Special forces to man IT firms in City
From Ajith Athrady, DH News Service, New Delhi:
Elite troops of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) will provide security cover to the IT companies of Bangalore in the wake of the July 25 serial bomb blasts that rocked the City.

The government of Karnataka has set up a high level committee under the chairmanship of the State director general of police (DGP), Sri Kumar, to prepare the road map in this regard.

“The government is waiting for the committee’s report and as soon as we receive it, we will provide security to the IT companies in consultation with the firms,” Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya told Deccan Herald here.

“The private IT companies may have to pay the charges,” Acharya said, citing the example of the Delhi Metro paying the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for security cover. He claimed that several companies in Bangalore, which houses more than 1,700 IT and IT enabled service companies, have come forward to bear the security cover expenses, he said. The IRB is a Centrally funded police force trained to handle both security and law and order situations. Though raised by the Centre, IRB is deployed on request from the states. The states are in charge of the IRB troops on deployment and pay their maintenance expenses.

The government has already established an IRB battalion in Koppal district and troops from this battalion are being currently used for security maintenance.

“Now we are planning to set up two more battalions in the State. Each battalion will comprise 1,300 to 1,500 troops and will be trained in anti-terror warfare, crises management and other related issues,” he said.

As the cost to raise a battalion runs up to Rs 10 crore, the State would request the Centre for financial assistance, he said and added: “We have already discussed with the Centre issues like arms and other latest security equipment.”

The minister said the government has identified 52 major installations including reservoirs, power projects and premier institutions for being provided with IRB cover, while 280 other installations will be provided security by District Armed Reserve (DAR) personnel. The security cover would be under constant scrutiny with a high-level committee comprising the chief secretary, the home secretary and the director general of police (DGP) monitoring it at the State level.
Wish the papers could go easy on usage of "special forces" or "elite troops" etc without knowing their meaning....
Raising a IRB battalion costs just Rs 10 Cr?

Swami Laxmanananda: murder foretold
Shreerang Godbole
30 August 2008
back

The gruesome murder of 84-year old Swami Laxmanananda in Kandhamal, Orissa, has exposed the ease with which evangelical groups can access guns, grenades, and other murderous weapons in the pursuit of their agenda to impose their own religion by annihilating local faiths and cultures everywhere.

No one takes seriously the administration claim that the murder is the handiwork of Maoists. It is another matter that in Kandhamal there is little to differentiate Christians and Maoists – the cadres reputedly overlap, and both share the common goal of uprooting Hindu dharma. Indian media followed the Western media in raising a hue and cry over the murder of evangelist Graham Staines, but did not show the same respect to the octogenarian Swami who devoted his life to the welfare of the most downtrodden tribal communities.

The media gave space to the asinine remarks of Australian evangelist Gladys Staines, who has no locus standi to comment on the internal affairs of India , and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was quick to give audience to well-organised Christian leaders after the Bishop of Rome expressed displeasure over native Hindu reaction to grave provocation. The Italian origin and Roman Catholic faith of Congress party president Sonia Gandhi cannot be overlooked in this context – it constitutes a sub-text to the Christian vociferousness, which seeks to drown out the fact that the Krishna Janmasthami murders in the ashram premises was an exceedingly well-organised and premeditated crime.

The tremendous and spontaneous Hindu reaction – paralleling the upsurge over the Amarnath yatra land issue in Jammu – has taken the nation by surprise. But the root causes of the Orissa unrest have been completely glossed over by the media.

Kandhamal is part of the erstwhile undivided district of Phulbani; it was carved into a separate district on 1 April 1994. It derives its name from the Kandh (Kondha) tribes who dominate the area, comprising approximately 51.96% of the 6.5 lakh population of the district. Kandhs are Hindus and enjoy Scheduled Tribe status.

The other community with a significant local presence is the Panas, a Scheduled Caste, who constitute about 16.89% of the district population. The Panas are overwhelmingly Christian and are educationally, economically and politically more advanced. They were the prime targets of the pioneering Christian missionaries who settled in Katingia village of Daringibadi block of Kandhamal in 1883. The Kandh tribe led by Chakara Bisoi, Dohara Bisoi, Dina Kondh and Lochana Kondh valiantly fought the British in 1857, and it was only in 1884 that the British finally managed to subdue this region with the help of converted Panas from present-day Ganjam and Nayagarh districts bordering Kandhamal.

Through untiring efforts spanning four decades, Swamiji succeeded in awakening the Kandhs. This in turn posed a major threat to the political and economic hegemony of the Church. The converted Panas are highly placed in Government and politics. Rajya Sabha MP Radha Kant Nayak is a converted Pana and a blue-eyed boy of the Congress president. He doubles up as chief of the local chapter of World Vision, a highly energetic Christian outfit. Nayak is also connected with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). He uses his MP’s fund to distribute largesse to converted Panas through his own NGO called ‘Nishwas’. His alleged role in the murderous attack on Swami Laxmanananda on 24 December 2007 has not been probed to the satisfaction of the local populace.

Christian bureaucrats like Issac Behera and retired IPS officer John Nayak, Lok Sabha MP Sugrib Singh, and former Steel and Mines Minister Padmanabh Behera are other heavyweights who are hand-in-glove with missionaries. The Church reportedly gets massive funds from USA , Italy , Australia and several European countries, and Swami Laxmanananda’s demand for an enquiry into the quantum of foreign funds flowing into the region and their utilization should in the fitness of things be accorded the status of the last testament.

There is a long-standing dispute between converted Panas and Hindu Kandh tribals. Under the law, Panas cannot own forest land as they are not Scheduled Tribes. Throwing legality to the winds, several converted Panas have illegally grabbed forest land. Kandhs who have been rendered landless are forced to work as farm labourers on lands illegally occupied by Panas. Seething discontent over this state of affairs first manifested in the 1994 Kandh-Pana clashes that left 50 persons dead.

Despite a High Court order to evict encroached land, Christians continue to illegally occupy the land. Being Scheduled Castes, Panas are legally not allowed reservation benefits after conversion. One way they get around this law is by concealing their conversion. Radha Kant Nayak, a 1962 batch IAS officer, is widely reputed to have gained entry into the IAS through Scheduled Caste quota by fraudulently concealing his convert status. The growing clamour for public scrutiny of such cases is said to be behind the setting up of the Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission, which expectedly recommended reservation benefits for all SC converts.

Another way to beat this law is by securing Scheduled Tribe status. This will enable Panas to enjoy reservation even after conversion, as an oversight in the Constitution did not deprive ST converts of reservation rights. Naturally, Church-inspired organizations such as the Phulbani Kui Jana Kalyan Sangh are clamouring for Scheduled Tribe status for Panas.

Moreover, the delimitation of constituencies has resulted in the reservation of the lone Lok Sabha and all Vidhan Sabha Assembly segments for Scheduled Tribes. The posts of President of the Zilla Parishad, Block Chairmen and majority of elected Zilla Parishad members and posts in Panchayati Raj institutions have also been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The flip side of this is a loss of political and social relevance for the Christian Panas and the Church. Hence the sense of urgency in the demand for Scheduled Tribe status for Christian Panas.

The Kandhs speak the Kui dialect, which is also known to the majority of Panas. Disregarding the fact that ‘Kui’ is a dialect, not a community, Panas are falsely claiming to be Kuis and demanding ST status!

In 1981, the J.B. Patnaik government bowed to the Christian lobby and recommended that Kuis be included in the list of Scheduled Tribes. The Christian lobby won a major victory in 2002 when a Presidential order included Kuis in the list of STs. The Phulbani Kui Jana Kalyan Sangh promptly filed a writ petition in the High Court claiming that in Kandhamal district, Kuis were wrongly listed as a Scheduled Caste instead of Scheduled Tribe in land revenue records and consequently deprived of Constitutional concessions granted to STs.

Finally, the High Court asked the State Government to take a decision in the matter. Mercifully, the State Government submitted that as the Record of Rights of the Panas did not mention them as a Scheduled Tribe, their demand could not be met. The Orissa Government has consistently maintained that “this demand is not based on historical and anthropological facts.”

Kandh organizations such as Phulbani Kui Seva Samiti, Nikhil Utkal Kui Samaj, Kui Kul Samiti and Kui Sanskritik Parishad are struggling to stave off the Pana demand for Scheduled Tribe status. They have formed an umbrella organization called Kui Samanvaya Samiti to safeguard the rights of Kandhs.

More than anyone else, Swami Laxmanananda was a symbol of Kandh hopes and aspirations. The missionaries knew that the resurgent Kandh Hindus could force them to close shop. With Swamiji out of the way, the Archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneshwar, Msgr. Raphael Cheenath could afford to indulge in some bluster. Speaking after Swamiji’s murder, Cheenath bragged that the roots of the Church in these parts were deep and that the Church would continue to provide light for generations to come.

In Jammu , Hindus have risen in the defence of Dharma, throwing up new leaders in the process. Orissa – land of Jagannath , Lingaraja, Kalinga-Jina – cannot lag behind. It owes this much to Swamiji.

If you were ever curious as to who funds the maoists, here is the answer. This "charity" money -- officially about two billion dollars every year -- coming from the Goras dissappears without a trace into the jungles of Chattisgarh, Orissa, Andhra and Jharkhand. (These areas are one single patch, if you disregard the political boundaries.). This money is the financial lifeline of the Maoists. The Maoists of India (and of Nepal) are funded by White Christians. It is the CIA-Church nexus at work and they want to denude this entire patch of Hindus where the Church will be the master of all it surveys.

Mumbai: Top encounter specialist shown the door

August 31, 2008 15:15 IST

Encounter specialist and former head of the Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai police Pradeep Sharma has been dismissed from his service, Commissioner of Police Hasan Gafoor said on Sunday.

Sharma, a senior police officer, has been dismissed after a probe found that his past records were undesirable, Gafoor said.

Sharma, who was posted in the Dharavi police station in northeast Mumbai, was served the dismissal order on Saturday, he said.

Asked if any further action was to be taken against Sharma, Gafoor said, "Not at the moment. If required later, we will take appropriate action."

The Commissioner also refused to elaborate the reasons why Sharma had been dismissed.

Sharma, who entered the police force in 1980s earned a reputation as being an encounter specialist he has reportedly killed over 100 alleged gangsters in shootouts.

He had also come under a cloud during investigations intothe 2003 custodial death of Ghatkopar blast accused Khwaja Yunus and had been posted to Amravati, following High Court order.
Not sure if its a genuine bad apple case or some serious vote bank pandering to win back some "trust ofd the minorities" after having been forced to show some spine(read, actually try and crack a terrorist case instead of maintaining "political correctness") after the recent terror attacks in Gujarat....

NEW DELHI: Looking low and dejected, a Church leader from Orissa warned Sunday that if the government failed to stop attacks on his community, Christians in the state will be forced to raise a militia for self-defence. "All that the governments have been doing, both in the state and at the centre, is paint an illusion. Beautiful, but hollow words is all they have to offer. It's been eight days and the violence continues. If such a situation persists, we will have no option but to form our own 'Suraksha Vahini'," the priest told IANS on condition of anonymity.

The priest, who is based in Bhubaneshwar and who reached New Delhi Aug 26, said he did not want to be quoted by name because he had already received death threats and feared for his life. He spoke in the church premises in the heart of the capital.

The Church leader might be in a delegation set to meet President Pratibha Patil Monday. He said, however, that not many were hopeful. "We met the prime minister, the home minister and will meet the president tomorrow. However, I have my doubts that anything fruitful will come out of it. All that we keep getting are fine words that 'this will be done and that will be done'. In reality not only Kandhamal but many districts in Orissa are burning," the church member said.

"I have told people from Orissa to say they are not Christians in order to save their lives. You can follow religion as long as you are alive. This sadly is increasingly becoming an intolerant society," he added.

SwamyG,

**Thread hijack alert**

Why not? Some say that Hindus don't have a "religious duty" to donate a.la "tithing" for Christians and Zakat for Muslims but can we not take the initiative to do that? I see tons of NRI gazillionaires and even regular "Oracle jockey" types who drive BMW 7-series to temples. If we as a community cannot open our hearts for a good cause, do we deserve to whine about other faith people who are more generous than us? I see old ladies dependent on medicare giving generously to churches. Why don't we do the same?

As a disclaimer, I was not a major donor until some recent family developments forced me to look at things a different way. While I agree that EJ funds need to be monitored on par with other security concern funds, we do need our society to open up and donate towards the development of downtrodden segments who want to stay within the Sanantan Dharma fold. I daresay that our funds can have a higher efficiency of "saving souls" than EJ funds because we are not buying to change status quo, we are just contributing to improve lives incrementally. In other words, if it takes Rs. 10 lakhs per person for an EJ to "buy a soul", I bet we can make 100 people to say no to EJ bribing for the same amount.

BTW, the first generation of EJ induced converts essentially remain Hindus for life. It's the next generation onwards that turn hostile to their parent faith.

Ram Vilas Paswan wants to give citizenships to bangladeshi illegals

Give citizenship to Bangladeshis in India: Paswan

PTI | Pushkar

With an eye on elections, Lok Janshakti Party, a ruling UPA constituent, on Sunday favoured giving citizenship to Bangladeshis staying in the country and advocated reservation for the economically weak and minorities in Government and private sectors.

"Those Bangladeshis who are already staying in India should be provided citizenship. Further infiltration should be checked. There should be strict vigil on the border," a resolution passed by the party headed by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said here.

The party supported reservation for the "socially and economically" backward groups.

"The party feels that in view of their social and economic conditions, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people should get reservation in private sector. Every community or group should have equal representation in all sectors," the resolution said.

The party is in favour of giving 10 per cent reservation in Central Government jobs for the economically weaker sections among the upper castes.

Besides, employment should be a fundamental right of every citizen in the country, the party resolution said.

Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims should be considered as Dalits and provided quota benefits to help them join the main stream, it said.

The party also criticised the ban on SIMI and demanded setting up of an independent inquiry commission with social scientists and human rights activists as its member to study the role of various organisations in spreading terror and communal tension.

Educated Muslims support SIMI

dailypioneer
----

SIMI holds sway over intelligentsia, says probe

Rakesh K Singh | New Delhi

It is not without reason that regional forces like Rashtriya Janta Dal, Lok Janshakti Party and Samajwadi Party are supporting the cause of banned Students Islamic Movement of India.

Interrogation reports of SIMI chief Safdar Nagori and his top aides reveal that the outfit has entrenched its hold amongst the community, including within the financially sound, educationally qualified and opinion making section of the community, for carrying out subversive activities.

Significantly, most of the political parties supporting SIMI have presence in the States where the homegrown face of terror is active through a developed network of cadres and leaders. The interrogation reports of top SIMI leadership reveal that the outfit has significantly developed its network in major States like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, besides Bihar.

The other disturbing fact that has emerged from the first hand account by the top-rung leadership of SIMI is that the activities of the outfit are now being coordinated and supported by well-educated and financially sound Muslims.

The SIMI terrorists are not the typical uneducated and the superstitious Muslims and the rank comprises well educated and financially sound sections of the community who extend support to the outfit despite the knowledge that the group is banned, Aamil Parwaz told the interrogators earlier this year.

The outfit has been regularly holding meetings at mosques and the premises of well-off leaders of the community but the security agencies failed to get a wind of it unless it was busted by the Madhya Pradesh Police in March this year.

While Nagori himself was a master in journalism and mass communication, his key aide Hafeez Hussain alias Adnan alias Zaid alias Tameem alias Rashid was an alumnus of the NITK, Mangalore and obtained a BTech degree. Likewise, Shivli PD Ekkal alias Savit, 30, has a diploma in computer science from Model Polytechnic of Calicut in Kerala. Another key associate of Nagori, Aamil Parwaz was also has a diploma in engineering.

These SIMI leaders, currently under the custody of Gujarat Police for interrogation into the Ahmedabad serial blasts case, have told the interrogators that they used to recruit cadres in engineering, medical and other professional institutes for taking forward the terror agenda of the outfit. Besides, they have also admitted about the support of influential sections of the community across the country.

Key SIMI cadres of Bhopal with sound academic background include Arshad alias Ehtesham Ali (MA in Arabic), Mohammad Aleem Qureshi (MSc in Chemistry), Mohammad Shohrab alias Babbu (LLB and PGDCA) and had consciously chosen the path of terror, said a senior official related to the interrogation of the SIMI leaders who were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in March and added that the list of other highly qualified cadres of the outfit runs into hundreds.

The outfit's activities were funded by donations collected from the community members as well as from the contributions of former SIMI activists based in the Gulf and through the sale of goatskin offered to the mosques on the occasion of Bakr-Eid, Nagori and his associates told the interrogators.

through on it and repealing the Assam-specific IMDT Act which makes it nearly impossible to
deport anyone. they knew very well the accord was a sham and the gullible student leaders
believed them or more likely they saw a chance to grab power and wealth and took it.
beats living in comandeered rooms in GU hostels and the mess food.

Rangudu: I will believe it when it happens. Recently I read that $226 million came into Indian in 2005-2006 through Christian organizations. So do you think this can be matched from Hindu NRIs consistently say for 10 years?

India being India, I am not sure if GoI will ever interven in this conversion business, ever! What is happening in Orissa is internal security issue - law and order. And clearly, it is related to the inspirations from the EJs.

We as a community are not "sufficiently" opening our hearts, but some of us can do whine about it! Sometimes that is all we can do. The way our country is setup it is going to take a whole lot for us to save the Indic traditions. There is no monarchy to save the traditions.

I have been working in this field with SV.Badri, an RSS guy,

From his field experience, it takes 100 times the money for an EJ to convert as for a hindu to maintain status-quo

People also dont convert only due to money
There is fake faith healing and other psy-ops

Also those who convert are often the most ambitious, not the poorest

Back to ekal

The goal is 100,000 villages at $350 per year = $35 million per year

Just like Mittal adopted the Indian olympics team
All it takes is one rich guju / marwari billionaire to step up
And all of them are hyper-religious
of the ostentatious kind

There is a patel in NJ, who has actually stepped up to the challenge
by funding 1 village every day
a total of $130k per year

If there are 300 such patels, funding is solved

For the NRIs an easy option is donor-option write in to divert the United way contribution

I have seen NRIs spend money on all kinds of stuff like private schools for kids in cupertino ( where the public schools are pretty good ), and so on

GS garu is correct.

We have to start somewhere.

We dont need be billionnaires to fight this phenomenon... lets start small way..

I request the NRI members of BR sponsor 10 eKal schools per year and try to have 10 friends join the program... That will start the ball rolling.

I am doing my part.... lets keep reminding each other..

Ramay, good job. I have thrown the proposal in my group about it lets see what number of schools we decide to sponsor. Guess the word of mouth can give a lot of sponsors.

EVF has 501 (c) (3) status in US which makes things easier. I see that there is a valiant effort on in the NE and I'm annoyed that I haven't done this earlier. Thanks for the info.

Ekal Vidyalaya is very popular in US. I think it is perhaps one of the biggest desi charity organization.

In year 2006 (Based on public tax return information)
Asha (communist counterpart of ekal) had $2.1 Million Revenues
Ekal had $2.5 Million in Revenues

Asha started in 1991.
Ekal Started in 2001.

The amount of work done by Ekal in preventing conversion is tremendous. Currently they are running over 27,000 schools and teaching over 800,000 students. I know US contributes funds for at least 1/5th of those schools.

Also, Ekal is an Umbrella Organization of various charities/trust that run these schools in India.

Check out the Ekal Videos here http://kr.youtube.com/results?search_qu ... type=&aq=f

I have repeatedly been drawing attention, for years now, about the GOI being lax when it comes to funding or certain so-called "Christian" evangelical movements .Tehelka in an issue a few years ago, drew atention to over 100 new "church" groups operating in the country,no part of mainstream Christian organisations who have been in existence for decades.Almost every group is US funded/supported and was according to the magazine part of the Bush Neo-con/CIA plot to destabilise India.Despite our size,we are a very fragile society, where illiteracy and ignorance amongst the poor can result in misunderstandings between communities and religions, leading to violent clashes. The failure of various govts. at the centre and state in uplifting the poorest of the poor, makes them easy targets for any group that promises both social and economic upliftment.Do we not read daily about poor farmers committing suicide?Who can blame them if they turn to violence or are "bought" in order to survive? In certain states, thanks to the remnants of feudalism, these SC/STs have been ripe for the Naxalite movement, which has cut a swathe right from Nepal down to Kerala.3 years ago,a leading journalist of the country warned me about the threat, describing how the GOI's writ did not run in a vast number of districts in the country. This is similar to the NWFP states in Pak,the new state of "Terroristan".Journo Tavleen Singh years ago asked Gujral why no importance was being given to primary education in the country,by his govt. too, and his astonishing reply was that it was the policy of the various govts. since independence to keep the poor in ignorance for obvious reasons!

Who is to blame then? The politicos and administrators of the country definitely. They have become so corrupt, immoral, adept at maladministration and are behaving like extortionists.Just this morning,an industrialist friend told me about a certain very senior official who openly boasts about the amount of property the individual has.Not too long ago,it was a scandal when an IAS officer was found corrupt. What is the state of these officers of the "iron frame" today? The nexus between the administrators ,landgrabbers, developers, mining mafia and a sundry lot of goons, all intent upon enriching themselves at the expense of tribals by dispossessing them of their lands ,makes the country fertile ground for mischief makers both local and foreign.Any gangster of any fringe organisation is employed by these villains to obtain their goal.If we are to deal with Naxalites/Maoists,we must prevent them from recruiting from the poor.If the poor are not looked after, educated and employed/given the opportunity for gainful employment, this is just what will happen. What has happened in Nepal is a warning to us.

Unless the rule of law is strictly upheld impartially, the country will descend into further chaos and another revolution, far more dangerous to the survival of the country as an independent nation this time massively violent is on its way.

Hinduism cannot be uprooted from India as long Hindus do not let political power slip away from their hands. Nepali Hindus made this mistake by allowing anti-Hindu Maoists to take power. Now, their goose is cooked. This is classic Gora strategy. Their trick is to make the rulers of a country follow a faith that is hostile to the faith followed by the general population. This is done by either propping up a Maoist insurgency (since Maoists are hostile to everybody except themselves) or by infiltrating a White Christian into the ruling family (examples: Burma, India, Sikkim, etc.) so that the heirs become Christians or half-Christians.

Goras are following both elements of this strategy (rulers belonging to a hostile faith, Maoist insurgency) to uproot Hinduism from India and balkanize the country. A White Christian is already in the traditional ruling family. Now they are slowly enabling a Maoist take-over of India. The same strategy they have successfully adopted in Nepal. There since the ruling family couldn't be compromised because of the king being anointed as the defender of the Hindu faith, the entire family was bumped off. (Right. It was a special forces opeeration. The truth will come out in due course.)

The same strategy they are following in Indian states too. Notice that in whichever states Maoists are strong, the Congress Chief Minister candidate mysteriously turns out to be a Christian (chattisgarh, Andhra) even thought christians are still in a small minority. The strategy is to have sympathetic Christian politicians rule states of central India while the Maoists mop up Hindu resistance on the ground. If you recall press reports during last Andhra elections, there were reports of Congress allying with Maoists for votes. Congress won and an unheard-of Christian became a chief minister. It may be a coincidence, but I don't believe in them. Notice the halt in anti-Maoist operations the moment congress came to power in Andhra and invitation to them for peace talks. Those four months of parleys helped Maoists regroup and rearm. That episode now congress claims was an honest mistake on their part born out of peace and goodwill.

If you consider the Purulia arms drop over Bihar-West Bengal border, the missionary-Maoist nexus in central India, the pumping in of Western money into Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh and the careful placement of American counslates in the Maoist belt (Chennai, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Kathmandu), you can begin to get the picture of how the strategy is being put into place.

I have read reports which show that Goras (Americans) are trying to merge Dalit activism with Maoists to form one single fighting force that will screw all Hindus. This merger has already been affected in Vidharbha districts of eastern Maharashtra. In this, activists keep moving between Dalit liberation outfits and Maoists outfits. For example, Chandra Bhan, ex-Maoist, now writes on Dailt issues in Pioneer, pouring his castiest bile on upper caste Hindus every Sunday. This is the reason why Goras are running Dalit Liberation Networks in the US and Canada. They want to create a Dalit insurgency and merge it with Maoists / Missionary nexus.

Gora intelligence agents posing as missionaries are providing strategic guidance to the Maoists of India, supplying them vital intelligence about police movements (such as supplying them information about UAV flights over Chhattisgarh jungles, etc.) and helping them create cells in new states, such as UP, as well as in urban areas (Mumbai particularly). The strategy is to create a Shining Path kind of movement, with anti-Hinduism at its core, and make it really capable of taking over and ruling vast tracts of India where the population density is less.

Sensing India's secularsim fetish, Goras have shrewdly used the church network as conduit of money and agents to the Maoists. If you take action against this 'Christian charity' conveyor belt that starts in America and ends in Chhattisgarh and Andhra jungles, there is an army of Gora propagandists deployed to shout "religious oppression of Christians by India." It is a tough nut to crack. It can only be cracked if India becomes totally immune to Western criticism and shows them the middle finger, much like china does.

Meanwhile:
CRPF to deploy specially trained force for combating naxals
With the government's go-ahead for raising an anti-naxal force, the CRPF is formulating a plan to deploy the specially trained personnel in six states, mostly in the worst-affected areas.
The CRPF will deploy 10,000-strong Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, official sources said.

While the worst-hit Chhattisgarh will get three battalions (nearly 3,000 personnel), Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh will get two each and Orissa, Maharashtra and Bihar will get one battalion each.

"The naxals have started setting spreading in UP also. That's why we have decided to station two battalions in the sensitive state," the official said.

In Chhattisgarh, two battalions of the force will be stationed in Jagdalpur, regional headquarter of Bastar and one in Raigarh, which is used for transit by Left-wing extremists.

In Jharkhand, the force will be stationed at Khunti and Hazaribagh while in Orissa, Maharashtra and Bihar, the force will be based at Koratpur, Bhandara and Gaya respectively.

Asked why the force would not be stationed in Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, the official said, "In Maharashtra, the force would be located in Bhandara which is on the border with Madhya Pradesh and hence it will function in both states. In Andhra Pradesh, Greyhounds are already there to tackle the menace."

Sanjay,
This is umpteenth time I'm debating with you. YSR may be 'unheard-of' politician at national level but he is a pretty strong Congress leader. Even when congress was in the government he was pain in the ass for every CM from 90's. He is a strong leader in rayalseema region. And the congress came to power in AP entirely because of him in 2004. He may be a christian, but he's certainly not a evangelical christian. They still keep their caste name and marry people from that caste.
As for the talks with naxals, it was true that they lifted the ban once they came to power. It was in their mandate in that election and it provided them with some advantage vis-a-vis TDP. But after the talks failed, due to naxals refusing to lay down arms, they were ruthlessly hunted down. Infact, they were made to run from their strong hideout in nallamalla forests to AP-Orissa-chattisgarh border. Most of their top leadership was eliminated. Those leaders who went to central committee whose hideout was in the dandakarunya forest escaped. Right now, they are trying to regroup in the northern borders of AP, but AP police is strong enough to counter them. They are no more problem in the other areas of AP, as they were once.

The reangs were ethnic cleansed from mizoram for refusing to convert to xtianity
Like the pandits they have been homeless for more than 10 years

Reang refugees may boycott Mizoram polls
CORRESPONDENT
AGARTALA, Sept 1 – The Mizoram Bru Displaced Forum (MBDF), apex body of Reang refugees sheltering in Tripura’s Kanchanpur subdivision, is contemplating to boycott the Assembly elections in Mizoram scheduled to be held in November next.

“We participate in each election in Mizoram hoping that the new government will address the vexed refugee problem. We are waiting for the call for last eleven years but nothing has happened”, said Elvis Chorkey, president of the MBDF here today.

He added, “We are considering to boycott the ensuing Assembly elections in Mizoram to protest the step motherly attitude of the Mizoram Government, he said.

Displaced people, who are languishing in six camps in Kanchanpur in North district have been demanding to solve the problem as soon as possible. But ultimately thing stands at the same point that we are refugees and deprived of all basic amenities”, Chorkey said.

He also alleged that many genuine voters got deleted from the electoral rolls over the past few years. We are pursuing the matter along with the demand to add the names of those who attain 18 years of age in the course of refugee life, he said.

As part of electoral preparation, a team of Election Commission visited the Refugee camps in Kanchanpur to carry out revision of electoral rolls.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kanchanpur said, two sectional officers from the Commission, one Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mizoram have arrived here on Saturday and they will enroll voters names living in six camps. They will also provide Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the enlisted voters, he said adding that the team would stay there for a week.

Thousands of Reangs had to leave Mizoram following ethnic clashes in 1997 and took shelter in Kanchanpur, adjacent to Mamit district in Mizoram. Since then, a number of meetings were held but the problem remains the same as it was. Even the Union Government could not break the ice. Now the refugees want to take revenge by boycotting the election, said one of the displaced people.

Yvijay:

Pls take a national view of the problem and the systematic spread of the Maoists in new areas such as UP and Orissa. Andhra Pradesh is just one state. If they have been pushed back due to strong police action there, they are growing in other areas. It doesn't mean that the Maoists have been neutralised. I would say they have become stronger in the last five years. A dozen cops were killed in Jharkhand yesterday, six were killed in Chhattisgarh day before yesterday, 50 greyhounds were killed in Andhra a couple of months ago ... I also think that the news of their demise in Andhra is somewhat overstated ... they have simply crossed the border to take refuge in the jungles on the other side and are biding their time.

Sanjay,
I did tell you this before. I'm talking only about AP. I know you are right about evangelicals and what they are doing in India. It will only degrade your thoughts if you mix all of them together. I agree with your statements regarding naxals and evangelicals joining hands and creating havoc in orissa and chattisgarh. But if you say the same is happening in AP, when it is not, your arguments loose credibilty. And when you say that YSR is a unheard of politician in AP you look biased.

I really appreciate the fact that you are bringing all these news about anti-national activites of evanijihads and maoists. And I respect your views. But please be unbiased in your views, it increases your credibility IMHO. Please take it as a positive criticism.

Take it for what ever it is worth.

Orissa: Here, clashes are not one-sided

BARAKHAMA (KANDHAMAL): When communal fights flared up at Brahmanigaon in Daringbadi block last December, it quickly spread to Barakhama and two lives went up in smoke.

This time, too, when religious passions shot up in the aftermath of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati’skilling at Jalespeta on August 23, the immediate tremors were felt at Barakhama and in the ensuing violence two deaths were only consequential.
Welcome to Barakhama in Baliguda block of communally-disturbed Kandhamal district.

This is perhaps among a few places in this region where the ongoing tussle between Hindu and Christian communities is not a one-sided affair like in most parts of the tribal-dominated district. Here, like elsewhere, violence originated because of the chasm between tribal Kandhs and Dalit Panas.

Here, too, the ethnic divide has taken a communal turn. But here the Christians are not just victims, they also are victors. Eight months ago the warring groups accounted for a death apiece.

In the latest round of clashes, both casualties — Ajuba Digal (20) and Prafulla Naik (70) — were from the Christian side. The Christians suffered more loss. But Hindus, too, sustained bullet injuries and their belongings burnt.
‘‘I was returning from hospital on August 26 when Christians opened fire on me,’’ said Dagara Mallick, who is undergoing treatment for an injured left hand at Baliguda hospital. ‘‘I didn’t know violence had broken out. I was returning home when the attack came,’’ said Damodar Bagarti, a mason.

Barakhama offers a sample of how gradual rise in the Christian population has caused religious intolerance in Kandhamal.

How Swami Laxmanananda prevented maoists from getting foothold in Kandhmahal
More reasons to fund Ekal,

http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage ... trParentID

First, they say Maoists must have been unnerved after Saraswati's much-publicised visit to Malkangiri district on April 9. The visit took place despite Naxalite threats.

“The Maoists may not have liked the Swami entering Malkangiri to launch initiatives among tribals, as this would hurt Naxal recruitment,” a senior police official told HT. Second, Naxalites have targetted RSS/VHP leaders as they describe the Salwa Judum phenomenon in neighbouring Chhattisgarh as a “creation of Hindu fascists and capitalists”.

Malkangiri SP Gajbhiye told HT, “When advocate Prabir Das was killed in Malkangiri district few months ago, the police found a letter by the Maoists at the spot which said Das was being killed for his RSS links.”

The third reason could be the Naxalites' failure to make inroads into the strategically-located Kandhamal district. A strong base in the dense jungles of the district would open doors to the coastal plains of Orissa via Ganjam and Nayagarh districts.

A senior police official said: “Maoists were not very successful in recruiting cadres in Kandhamal district as Swami Laxmanananda had a major influence on tribals in the district.”

Maoist - EJ nexus in Orissa

http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/st ... 0080063875

The Kandhmal-Gajapati border has been a Maoist stronghold for over a decade with a large support base among the local Christian population.

The district committee of the Maoists has 22 members, 70 per cent of whom are Christians. Though close links have existed between the Maoists and the Christians, the radical Left has so far never intervened in religious matters.

The first reports of Christians taking up weapons surfaced in December last year

..

During the backlash, in Brahmanigaon, villagers said they were shot at allegedly by Pano Christians from neighbouring villages.

"Panos are the real culprits. They come from the next village," one of the village woman had said.

During a house-to-house search the police found 20 guns and ammunition were found in Christian homes in Sikaram village, close to Brahmanigaon.

Security analysts believe that repeated provocation by the Sangh Parivar through fiery speeches and rallies demanding that conversions must stop have forced the Christians to retaliate.

( poor dears, they couldnt shout slogans of their own
and just had to retaliate )

In July this year, following clashes over cow slaughter, former MP Nakul Nayak, a Pano Christian, warned action will be taken against Swami Lakhananda if the administration did not take action within 10 days.

Top police sources who have been monitoring the security situation in Kandhmal said this time the Christians were prepared especially in areas where they dominate.

Digi, a Hindu village, is still smouldering. Days after saffron gangs attacked nearby Pano villages, armed men came after midnight, attacked villagers there and set fire to shops and houses. The sarpanch was brutally assaulted, his hands and legs cut by swords.

"They have had fights before they have even threatened us. But for the first time Christians have picked up arms," said one villager.

The church denies this.

"It is a lie. The church never supports violence. We want peace. We want development. We would never condone violence," said the Archbishop.

( religion of love becoming religion of peace )

A number of conservative para-church organisations and new churches are involved in a 'numbers' game and conversion and contribute to undoing the good work done by the Roman Catholics and Protestants in the areas of health, education and development. When there is a backlash, all Christians irrespective of whether they are involved in militant forms of mission or not become fair game for Hindu militants," said Pradip Ninan Thomas.

Caste war? not communal clash ?

http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/st ... 1832408750

The week-long communal frenzy in Kandhmal has had one focus. Attack and destroy everything that's Christian: churches, homes and followers.

But significantly, one section of Christians has been left untouched -- the tribal Kandhs.

Not one of them has been killed, nor a single tribal home attacked by Hindu rioters. The major targets are Pano Christians, who are Dalits.

And in many villages, Hindu Panos have been attacked, like in the predominantly Christian Pano village where 20 percent of the population is Hindu.

Kuna Digal, resident of Sodonmendi says, "Both Christians and Hindus live together here." On being asked why was the village targetted, he replies: "This is a war between SC and ST. The tribal attackers do not choose between Hindus and Christians."
