Is this a new incident or one which was reported nearly 48 hours back? Because the incident seems to be a false alarm. Navy, Coast Guard and the state police went on high alert. Finally it was found to be fishermen transferring some stuff from one boat to another.
Good that the forces were alert even if it was a false alarm...almost becomes like real life scenario training(which is good anyways)

The man who wanted to kill Varun Gandhi
Rasheed Malabari, a resident of Kerala had come into coastal Karnataka's Mangalore town with a two-pronged agenda. His instructions -- from notorious and elusive don Chhota Shakeel who is hiding in Pakistan -- were to eliminate Varun Gandhi and Pramod Muthalik.

Intercepts picked up by the Intelligence Bureau suggest that Malabari, a right-hand man of Chhota Shakeel, was assigned the job of eliminating both Varun and Pramod Muthalik as they felt that these two had become a threat to the Islamic community in India.
Both investigating agencies and the Intelligence Bureau are now trying to figure out how Malabari managed to step into India despite a red corner alert. They are probing whether this man came in on a fake passport or he could have used the very famous Lashkar-e-Tayiba route through Nepal. However, the fact that the man had set up his den in Mangalore was known after an intercept, which was picked up by the IB.

While on Kerala....

Excerpts.

Mask-arade

Ten illegal migrants trying to sneak out of the country as part of a Kathakali group outfoxed, when officers at Sahar asked them to describe the origin of the dance form

Several members of a Kathakali troupe headed to Budapest for a stage show, were stumped when asked to describe the basic steps of the dance form. The next question proved even more difficult. Where had they learnt Kathakali from? The going got tougher from there. What is the origin and history of Kathakali? By the time the last question was flung at them - what was the theme of their dance that they were going to perform for their Hungarian audience? - the ‘dancers’ were ready to groove their way back home.

Immigration officers at Mumbai airport busted yet another trafficking attempt on Saturday, by a pointed line of questioning. The 18 members, hailing from Kerala, had got visas from the Hungarian consulate in New Delhi by claiming to be Kathakali dancers.

It did not take long for the authorities to realise that only eight of the 18 people were dancers, the rest were accompanying them only to travel to Europe in search of jobs. “They fumbled and seemed clueless about their own dance form. They tried to answer the questions, but made a mess of it,” said an immigration officer.

My paanwalla in the Sultanate says, Before the hand over, ROP confirmed that he will assist in the inquiries. ROP had actually had him since November with regards to another case.
LeT targeted Madhavan, Kasturirangan

Sarfaraz Nawaz nails Madhani lie

Sarfaraz spills more beans on Madhani-Farooq link
KOZHIKODE: Sarfaraz Nawaz, an accused arrested in the Bangalore bomb blasts case, went to meet Madhani at the Anwarusseri Orphanage in Kollam along with Tadiyantavide Nazeer, a key figure in the terror network, to `settle the dispute between Ummer Farooq, a terrorist still at large, and Razeeb who was a close associate of Madhani.

"Madhani became furious at the harsh words used by Ummer Farooq.

Meanwhile, I tried to pacify him when he raised his voice against Ummer Farooq but he shouted against me also. When I went out with displeasure, Khalid, Aftab and Ummer Farooq followed me as Madhani wanted to speak to Tadiyantavide Nazeer alone,” Sarfaraz told the investigating agency.

“As we were waiting outside for an hour, Nazeer and Madhani came out and told Ummer Farooq that the money would be returned within a stipulated time.” The statement by Sarfaraz Nawas, who was picked up by the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) from Muscat last month, assumes significance as it shows the close relationship Madhani had with terrorists like Nazeer and Ummer Farooq. Why should the terrorists approach Madhani to settle the dispute? What did Madhani discuss with Nazeer for more than an hour? At a news conference at Mukkam, near Kozhikode, a few months ago, Madhani had said he had not met Nazeer after coming out of jail. He said he had seen Nazeer once or twice when he went to Kannur for party work before he went to the Coimbatore jail. Sarfaraz Nawaz’s statement proves Madhani wrong.

Nawaz’s statement also throws light on the terrorists’ operation in various parts of the country and their close ties with the Lashker-e- Toiba’s leadership.

The fund for the operations was raised by Wali who’s in charge of LeT operations in the Gulf. Wali alias Reehan alias Shameem provided the money for the Bangalore blasts and for sending the Malayalis to Kashmir for terror training through hawala transactions. The terrorist wanted to explode bombs in Chennai and Bangalore but finally selected Bangalore for the blast since an explosion at the IT hub would draw more media attention.
Nawaz's arrest could lead to major breakthrough
Ahmedabad: One of the most important links in Ahmedabad serial blasts case, Sarfaraz Nawaz, 31, who was arrested by Bangalore police on
March 9 is a prize catch for Gujarat.
Nawaz is suspected to be the link for the source who funded blasts that took place on July 26 last year. He had come in contact with Riyaz Bhatkal, a key Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative, wanted by Gujarat police, through former SIMI member and Indian Mujahideen operative Abdul Subhan alias Tauqeer. Tauqeer had played a key role in the Ahmedabad serial blasts and terror operations in Delhi.

Both Tauqeer and Bhatkal were dependent on funds provided by Nawaz. Investigators in Bangalore have revealed that at an Oman based Pakistani resident Wali Aziz alias Rehan funded most of IM operations in India through Nawaz.

Nawaz, who hails from Ernakulam in Kerala joined SIMI in 1995 and was appointed as SIMI Delhi office secretary in 2000. In 2001 he moved to Muscat arranging funds for Jihadi activities in the country. Nawaz remained an elusive entity till November last year when Indore police caught Qyamuddin Kapadia one of the most wanted men in the Ahmedabad serial blasts.

"Nawaz was in touch with Bhatkal's pointsman, a Kerala resident Abdul Sattar, 57, who is believed to have provided material for bombs that went off in Hyderabad in 2007 and in Bangalore and Ahmedabad last year. Sattar was caught by Hyderabad police in January this year. Sattar had all the reasons to be in the business as his son-in-law Abdul Karim was killed by security forces in Kupwara in J&K," says a senior Bangalore police official.

The official adds, "Sattar has been recruiting youth from Kerala, especially Kannur and Hyderabad madarsas and sending them to Pakistan."

A senior city crime branch official adds, "Nawaz is indeed a prize catch for us. We have furnished investigation reports to various agencies about the organisational structure of IM. The association of various groups in blasts and the real identities of terrorists who have been operating under various aliases'. If needed, we will bring in Nawaz for investigations."

Nawaz discussed plans to assassinate certain prominent scientists and high profile politicians in the country with LeT men Jasim and Ali in December last year.

It might be a good idea to keep a running update of a map of India along with Asia and annotate these news stories. Looks like a pattern will emerge.
Manglore is emerging as a conduit for Kerala IM who have been turned into TSP agents.

It should be timeline based and location.
As Mlore was integrated by air, railand road in the last 10 years with direct flights to Dubai and ME we are seeing increasing transit of the terrorist through this port.

ramana, i frequently check youtube kannada almost every other day. its getting filled up by weird islamic sermons in malayaLam. all of these are based in kuDla and its neighbourhood. even more than original bahamani domains of north karnataka. something is brewing up in good old kuDla(mangaloor). when you observe that when it comes to import, that islamic propoganda is bigger than shakeela and reshma you know something is wrong.

the rss types are anachronist in means. but when it comes to ground realities they have an ear or two for it. if kuDla is in news for all the wrong reasons, there is a reason for it. some very wierd and paki things have been going on. MSM wont report them. you need access to local medium for that,

Bhatkal Muslims are opeing up shops in Mangalore area. THey speak a language called bhatkali which is not understood by the local people.

So we are seeing a network being formed between Bhatkal - Mlore with Bhatkal having links to ME terrorist hubs.

Dawood's younger brother Noora dead
Mumbai: Fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's younger brother Noora died of kidney failure compounded with abdominal cancer in a private hospital in Dubai at around 4 am local time on Tuesday, relatives said. Noora, the fourth of the five brothers, is survived by six daughters.

The Interpol had issued a red corner notice against him. Noora was wanted by the police in several cases of forgery, fake currency and extortion. He is also accused of threatening several film producers and directors. There was confusion in the family about where to perform his last rites. Sources said a few family members wanted the burial to be conducted in Dubai while others wanted to bring the body to Mumbai. (further proof how useless Interpol is, and how Dubai govt allows everyone in D-Co to visit)

Senior police officials said that Noora escaped to Pakistan after the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and had been living there with Dawood ever since. Sources said that he was running the extortion empire of the Dawood's empire in Mumbai.

Dawood's family lawyer Shaym Keswani confirmed Noora's death. "The Mumbai police wanted to deport him. He had just one petty case in Mumbai," said Keswani. Relatives said that Noora was an alcoholic. They also said he was passionate about poetry and ghazals.

Officials from the Intelligence Bureau and the R&AW have upped their alerts as the funeral is likely to be attended by several key aides of the D-Company who are in the world's most-wanted list of absconders.

Shakeel man’s entry baffles Intelligence
excerpts
Intelligence agents as well as the police are wondering how Rashid Malabari alias “Double” hired by Pakistan-based Chota Shakeel to kill BJP leader Mr Varun Gandhi and Sri Ram Sene’s Mr Pramod Muthalik managed to sneak into the country via sea route and land on the coastal Karnataka’s Mangalore city.
The Intelligence Bureau has been intercepting his conversation with Shakeel regularly since second week of March . Double has first set up his camp at Kasargode in Kerala and then apparently moved to Mangalore. He had three associates with him who have been identified as Sayeef, Mohammed Hashim and Sahib Ibrahim. The plot to kill two Hindu leaders was now in place. The last conversation intercepted was on 22 March which had been quite revealing as it mentioned the plot to kill Mr Varun Gandhi. From Mangalore he was to leave for Pilibhit via Delhi when he was arrested by the Crime Detection Police of Karnataka.
Rashid Malabari ...........hmm Malabari sounds Yindoo onlee. Can anybody confirm if it is a coastal Indian surname ??
If he is a Paki then it must be an alias.

Trained pilots in India on terror mission
MUMBAI: Security agencies have been placed on high alert following an intelligence report that 7-8 trained pilots and around a dozen women fidayeen have entered the country on a mission to carry out terror strikes and hijackings.

All security agencies have now been briefed about a group of 20 people entering India. A source said, "A group of 20 people, who could be Pakistani nationals, have entered the country to carry out terror strikes or a plane hijack. The group includes seven trained pilots and 13-14 women."

What probably makes this even more dangerous is that they are supposed to be trained in Porkistan implying that they know squat about Flying planes , so if they get their hands on one - anything could happen.

Mangalore is becoming the hub of the anti national activities in the South. With a nexus of people with easy access to the coast.
The arrested, include Rashid Malbari alias 'Double' (38), Sahil Ismail Sheik (23), both from Thane in Maharashtra, Sayaf T A (25), a student from Kasargod in Kerala, Mohammad Hashin (28), driver of the car from Kasargod and Sahib Ibrahim (27), a resident of Kaup Padu in Udupi district of Karnataka.

http://mangalorean.com/images/newstemp2 ... sheed7.jpg

In coastal Konkan region, over the past few years houses belonging to handlers, have seen a good addition to their storeys. If a count of number of 'religious places and learning centres' of the certain community is carried out in this region, it will establish how many of them have come up on the coast in the last few years. Recall Arun Shourie's report that the entire coast upto Lakshadweep is poorly monitored. The report suggested the GoI for improving conditions of those patrolling the waters and upgrade them.
Now, Sir, in Lakshadweep, there are 36 islands. The Godbole Task Force set up in the wake of Kargil in 2000 reported that for all these 36 islands Intelligence Operation is only on one island, Kavaratti. There, the entire Intelligence gathering is carried out by one inspector, one sub-inspector, one head constable, three constables. For all the other 35 islands, Intelligence operations are carried out by one constable/head constable.

So, after the Mumbai attacks, I contacted the senior most people in Intelligence. They said, Sir, all these people reported to a person called officer-in-charge in Kavaratti. They said it is still one inspector, one sub-inspector, one head constable, three constables, and one constable/head constable reporting now, not to an officer-in-charge but — because of the grace of Pay Commission — he is the same man now re-designated as Deputy Superintendent of Police and it was recorded then, that unidentified helicopters and turbo planes have been landing in these islands. Are we serious?

How terror travels to India in a bus
The arrest of Rashid Malabari may have opened a can of worms. But what is more startling is how this man managed to slip into India despite a red corner alert by the Interpol against him.

Investigating officials firmly believe that this man could have used the Nepal route to enter into India. It may be noted that Nepal is the favourite route for both members of the D Gang as well as dreaded Lashkar-e-Tayiba [Images] terrorists. In fact, all it takes is just Rs 5,000 to cross over from Nepal into India.

Sources told rediff.com that the Nepal route is preferred by terrorists since the ISI has a well-organised syndicate there.

Sabahuddin, an accused in the Mumbai [Images] attack who was also the chief of operations for the LeT in Nepal, too confirmed this during his interrogation.

Once the green signal is given by the LeT or chiefs of the D gang, the operatives fly into Doha from Lahore [Images] on a fake passport. A member of the terror outfit is usually accompanied by an ISI member. In Sabahuddin's case, it was a man by the name Major Doggar.

In Doha, the operative needs to wait three more hours before boarding the flight to Kathmandu. The entire process is monitored by the ISI, Sabahuddin adds.

This is, however, the last time that these operatives are asked to contact the ISI. They are instructed never to contact the ISI in future as it could prove to be dangerous.

Once in Kathmandu, these operatives are directed to destroy the Pakistani passport and then flush it down the toilet. Then, they are instructed to mail their higher ups using coded language.

After staying over in Kathmandu for a day, they are asked to meet a local person at a particular location. A cash payment of Rs 5,000 is made to this person, who in turn helps these operatives cross over to India on a motorcycle. The person who helps them cross the border ensures that the operative has boarded a bus and only then leaves the place.

The bus journey is most preferred by both terror and underworld operatives once within India. They are asked to destroy anything that they possess that is even remotely related to Pakistan and asked only to use the bus since there is hardly any checking while boarding a bus.

IB and local state police should always cultivate the railway porters, Ticket collectors, bus conductors and chai-pani shop walas to monitor suspects. Its internal security 101. I dont see whats the big deal.

And would also have a deep cover network in Khatmandu airport porters to monitor incoming flights.

We did have Indian agencies screening passengers in the Tribhuvan airport as an aftermath of IC-814 (when King Gyanendra was still friendly to us)..
Wonder if it still exists under the Maoist govt?

The communist ministry kept on repeating that Mahdani had changed over a new leaf. But the interrogation of the jehadis from Kerala do not confirm it. The Kerala police investigations were slowed down a bit, but now a court order has once again set the K.P in action. They are to investigate and submit on the report about some shady activities of Mrs. Sufiya Mahdani (specifically with reference to burning of a TN SRTC bus).

One thing which always surprizes me is the audacity of the current LDF (commie) government in "going steady" with this terrorist.

I second your idea of maintaining a map of India with the hotbeds. Is there a tool available for this purpose. Also we can annotate each and every terrorist incident in a specific locality. The Mangalore-Kasargod-Kozhikode belt was always known for the "hawala" transactions, smuggling, fake passports etc. But now we see a pattern emerging that all these nefarious activities are now used for terrorism purposes also.

There were news reports that a large number of "Taureequats" (spelling?, meaning?) were set up in this area. The idea of this organisations is to give religious indoctrination (using the garb of spirituality). It could be sermons from these places which is getting put up on You Tube.

Also there is also a fair show of comedy shows (by Muslim clerics). Some Muslim organisations are at logger heads in Kerala, and have these sort of "bashing each other" speeches ;).

Malabari might be a kind of "nick-name" given to this chap. Most likely he is an IM. I have seen this "Malabari" reference given to people who have come up from places in North Kerala, Mangalore belt. During the days of the Raj these areas/districts (Mangalore, Kasargode,Kozhikkode, Malappuram, Palakkad) were all collectively known as "British Malabar".

Nice development if enforced.

China-made mobiles will go dead soon
China-made mobile handsets that have flooded the grey market are to be phased out within the next 10 days. These handsets are seen as
a security threat, prompting the move. The department of telecommunication has sent a communication to Cellular Operators Association of India asking them to block services to handsets that have 15-digit International Mobile
Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. It is only the Chinese mobiles that have 15-digit numbers; other handsets come with 16-digit IMEIs.
Lets see if it can be implemented on ground. GOI should enforce a ban on made in Chipanda Cellular or even networking eqp.

Sachin,
You can create custom maps in Googlemaps and mark locations in them. These maps can then be shared with others. Pretty simple to create and update.

Riots in Mysore
Communal clashes in Mysore, many houses ransacked

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Kyatamaranahalli in Mysore city following clashes between two communities allegedly over a petty incident which escalated to full-fledged violence early on Thursday.

At least two persons including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police were injured in the mob violence in Udayagiri Police station limits.

As the violence spread, more than a dozen houses were ransacked, 15 vehicles were set ablaze and places of worship were also damaged before additional police forces reached the spot to control the situation. Thirty-five people have been taken into custody, and community leaders and senior politicians have held peace meetings to diffuse the situation.
Conflicting versions

There were conflicting versions of how the violence erupted. While some attributed it to eve-teasing, senior police officials said the cause was an argument over a petty transaction near a telephone booth which snowballed into a verbal war of words, followed by a group clash.

Police citing eyewitnesses said two youth tried to insert a 50 paise coin instead of a Re. 1 coin into a public telephone, and the woman in charge of the booth took objection to it. Subsequently a complaint was lodged about the abrasive behaviour of the two youths following which they were picked up by the police and subjected to a medical examination as they were suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. However, they were later let off.

As news spread, a mob went on the rampage and targeted the house of former Mayor H.N. Srikantaiah. With no sign of the violence abating, reinforcements were sent to Kyatamaranahalli, which has since been cordoned off from the city.
All entry and exit points to the locality have been blocked and the Rapid Action Force, 16 platoons of the KSRP, DAR, CAR and the Mounted Police have been deployed to prevent the outbreak of fresh violence.

The district in-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje said an inquiry would be ordered into the violence.
In an already charged atmosphere, the IMs are doing themselves no favors by indulging in mindless rioting over petty reasons...

Mind boggles to imagine the consequence if the patience of the majority breaks...

Mind boggles to imagine the consequence if the patience of the majority breaks...

mind boggles even more thinking when this patience will break...
also, what of retaliatory attacks against Muslims if there are any major attacks on Hindus?
as i understand it, Ram Sena and a few others and even RSS, VHP are pretty strong in Mangalore and karnataka in general. they won't keep quiet if there are any IM incited riots.

watch out for 2002 all over again except this time in Karnataka, it won't matter who incited the violence, but since Hindus dared to retaliate, they will be called fundamentalist fanatics...Yediyurappa might soon be the South's Narendra Modi in being the scapegoat for pseudo-seccilars.

That is true...
recently, there was a huge pro-hindu rally in M'lore called Samajostava...

As usual, there was the stone pelting on the buses carrying participants from few mosques on the route. However, unlike earlier, lots of BD/xxx men went after the places from where the stone pelting happened and vandalized the places instead of ignoring the provocation.

The entire costal K'taka region is a tinderbox with many IMs(esp from Bhatkal) indulging in lots of anti-national stuff(and the common uninvolved IM standing back as a mute spectator instead of stopping the guilty) and leading to the rise in popularity of VHP/RSS etc in those regions to protect the common Ram/Laxman on the street leading to near complete polarisation of society.

Very very dangerous situation, IMHO.

Mysore, Kyathamaranhalli Extension:

Imagine if this would have been a mosque, the entire might of the rent-a-quote of the dhimmi English language terrorist media like IBN, NDTV and ToI would have descended on Mysore and start their ' communal Hindu fascists ' tamasha

Communal clashes in Mysore, many houses ransacked

Another version.
3 houses torched in Mysore, 20 injured
Friday, April 3, 2009

Mysore : Several properties, including places of worship, were damaged and three houses set on fire in Kyatamaranahalli in Mysore on Wednesday night, following a clash between people belonging to two different communities.

About twenty people, including assistant sub-inspector Hanumanthappa from Udayagiri police station, were injured in the incident. About 35 persons, suspected to be involved in the arson, were arrested on Thursday.

Meanwhile, one person was found murdered in front of Suryaranayaswamy temple at Kyatamarahanahalli on Thursday night. According to police sources, the victim, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had been selling coconuts in front of the temple. His head had been crushed with a stone.

Corporator and former Mysore mayor H N Srikantaiah (who defected to the BJP from the JD(S) last year), had to run for his life when a mob, armed with weapons, attacked his house and ransacked it.

His neighbour Venkatesh’s house, an anganwadi and several Kannada flagposts were also damaged. Two- wheelers were torched and cars and trucks stoned.

Though the police fired in the air, lobbed tear gas shells and used mild force, it took around five hours for the restoration of peace.

Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC have been clamped in the area. However, fearing threat to their lives, several families have vacated the locality on Thursday.

The seed of violence was sown when three youths, belonging to a particular community, who were allegedly under the influence of drugs, picked up a quarrel with a shop keeper from another community on Tuesday evening over a trivial issue. Instead of inserting a one rupee coin, a youth had inserted 50 paisa in the coin phone box and this resulted in an altercation.

The shopkeeper then informed the police. The cops freed the youths with a warning on Wednesday evening. In an act of venegeance, the youths resorted to violence, supported by some other members from their community.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who is in-charge of the district, took stock of the situation on Thursday and alleged that it was a pre-planned act to disturb the peace in the area.[/quote]

And people wonder why the common man looks at "a particular community" with distrust and wariness?

All the remarks here about blaming the Muslims is just pathetic.

One should just as easily blame the BJP government in place for not providing proper internal security. What the hell were the police during all this? Not to mention the pre-planned attack in Mangalore by sex-deprived adolescents, the so-called Sri Ram Sena?

No one wants 1000-2000 of their bretheren to die so lets be sensible about this and not resort to populist ranting. I understand how angry some are and believe me I was ready to join in if not for remembering the right thing to do. As Hindus, we should know how emotions can be detrimental to analyzing any moral situation.

It's incidents like these that determine how seriously we take the Bhagavad Gita and other assorted teachings that we supposedly care about so much.

Can you imagine the hungama in the DDM/secular space which would have happened had the police opened fire on the murderous mob which descended on the streets for no apparent provocation?

Its all nice and secular to talk about the police not doing anything(and blame the same police saying they are communal if they act since only poor muslims were targetted while no Hindu was touched  ) and compare burning down of houses+1 stabbing death+ destruction of temples to a bunch of hooligans slapping a few girls in a pub....
Actually, the extent of damage done was:
Four Temples and more than 250 houses were destroyed by the Jihadi mob that also set ablaze 12 vehicles and four houses. An anganwadi centre, printing press, xerox shop and scores of petty provision stores were destroyed. They also looted jewellery and cash, residents say. Miscreants also attacked the house of the former Mayor H N Srikantiah and ransacked furnitures. Many policemen were also injured in the attacks.

Yes, they probably would have gone ballistic but you have to work the system. You have to play the game until you're at the top and then you can make the changes needed to make the system more fair.

But in all seriousness, what were the police doing? Shouldn't they have stopped this?

But you see .. It is a religion of peace, and those members of the community do not represent that religion. In fact, You are the problem, a communal element, promoting hatred :)

As Hindus, we should know how emotions can be detrimental to analyzing any moral situation.
As Hindus we need to defend ourselves with full vengeance. Both eyes for one eye and whole jaw for a tooth.

While its the duty of govt to protect a common person from this kind of violence,it has been unable to do so.The cause of this failure can be found in intense appeasement of islamists and votebank politics by the "secular" parties much to the detriment of the nation.

The patience of hindus and other non muslims is now close to breaking point and if they are not provided with justice, they will turn to vigilantism.

Hindus and other religions such as Buddhists,Jains,Parsis,Bahais,Sikhs, jews all have to unite to banish this oppresive institution of dhimmitude for once and all.

Any idea if this riot was being engineered to create another Gujarat riot sort and hence create a situation to dismiss Karnataka Government before election?
