Diary of a Social Butterfly from TFT
Nowdays Janoo has a new bean in his bonnet. It’s about the Americans and the SIA and the ICI. Or was it CIA and the ISI? Khair, whatever. Apparently some Pathans from Waziristan have announced that these, these Americans who are working in Pakistan are under covered agents of CIA and they have given their real names also. So now every beardo weirdo can go and do hello hi with CIA agents and also behead them, and shoot them and blow them up, if they feel like.

The question is, says Janoo, how did these tribals from Waziristan know? Bhai, I said, the media wallahs tau know everyone’s underwear size, let alone CIA agents’ real names. They must’ve told the Pathans.

No, said Janoo, this information is not as easy to come by as your or my underwear size. Someone in the know has deliberately leaked it. And those Someones think they’re very clever, double dealing as always, said Janoo. ‘But what they don’t seem to realize is that the minute the Americans withdraw aid, our economy will go into free fall. The dollar will cross a hundred rupees. You won’t have enough petrol to reverse out of the garage and inflation will hit the roof. Meat will become a thou a kilo and sugar will become scarce as platinum.’

Khair meat tau main khaati nahin – because of cholestroils na – but the dollar going up is a bit of a prob because I have to go to New York next year na. My friend Sammy says that vahaan peh jo sastay designer clothes miltay hain, you can’t get anywhere, not even in the mangal bazaars of Bangkok. So the Someones who are behind all of us this better not do any more chalaakis, I swear, otherwise, all my shopping plans – those Prada shoes, those Moo Moo bags, that Space NK make up – will come to not.

But let’s talk about something funner. Yesterday we received three wedding kay cards. One came in a box, one in a cylinder and one in a kimkhab ka bag. Janoo looked at them and said: ‘Jesus! What madness is this?’ I didn’t say because crack kay saath kya argue karna, but I tau thought they were just fab. The box one was thick as a pack of taash – so many functions they had – the cylinder one had inside a satin scroll like a royal farmaan and the zari one had diamontes entrusted on it. I think so for Kulchoo’s wedding I’ll send the invites by messenger pigeons. They will flutter in through the windows. And to their little red legs will be attached little gold rings and inside those will be tiny invites written in real gold. I don’t want to blow my own strumpet but honestly, ideas tau meray say koi lay. . .

Nuggets from TFT
Musharraf wanted his face on bank notes

Quoted in Jinnah ex-prime minister Zafrullah Jamali stated that President Musharraf had so outgrown his status that he wanted his photo on the currency notes of Pakistan instead of the Quaid-e-Azam. Musharraf also wanted to send the parliament home so that he could send Pakistan army to Iraq on America’s demand. He said he was removed because he demanded rights for the Baloch.

When Musharraf begged Nawaz

Quoted in daily Pakistan ex-ISUI chief and almost COAS General Ziauddin Butt stated that Musharraf launched his Kargil war without Nawaz Sharif’s permission and after he was in trouble there begged Nawaz Sharif (mintain kar kay) to beg America to let him off the hook in Kargil. However when Nawaz got him out of trouble in Washington Musharraf said that he had gained advantage against India at Kargil which Nawaz Sharif lost in Washington. Later when Musharraf launched a coup against Nawaz he was scared of failing to remove him and had prepared his getaway and safe haven abroad.

Five Pakistani terrorists arrested in France

Daily Jang revealed that five Pakistani terrorists who had taken training from South Waziristan were caught in Paris after they sent death threats to the imam of the Paris mosque. After Pakistanis in the UK, the Pakistanis in France too have started coming to the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan to train as terrorists.

Shujaat cried ‘tears of blood’ over Lal Masjid

Quoted in Express Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of PMNLQ said that he was in deep regret that the slaughter of innocent girls in Lal Masjid took place when his party was in government. He said he was crying tears of blood over it because his other sins will be forgiven but not the sin of letting Lal Masjid massacre take place.

Pakistan should remain religious state!

Daily Express reported on a discussion in which intellectuals like Mujibur Rehman Shami, Oria Maqbul Jan and Sajjad Mir led a consensus of the youth that Pakistan should not be secularised but should carry on as a religious state. The defeated speakers were Dr AH Nayyar, Rubina Sehgal and Raza Rumi. Sajjad Mir said that Jinnah had never used the word secularism.

Pak-China relations: fact and fiction

The propaganda is that China’s premier brought along a 200-strong business delegation to sign MOUs worth US$35 billion with the public and private sector of Pakistan, creating the impression that a “paradigm change” is underway whereby China is about to replace the West as the biggest “foreign investor”, donor and trading partner of Pakistan. But the fact is that most of the MOUs are not worth the paper they are written on. :rotfl: Pakistani businessmen were hastily assembled at the last minute and mingled with their Chinese counterparts without having done any homework about mutually profitable projects. The fact is that China is neither making any significant foreign investments in Pakistan, nor handing out free money to Pakistan. Only US$400 million was pledged as a “soft loan” tied to a couple of projects like the Karakoram Highway that are of strategic importance to China itself and all the money will go to line the pockets of Chinese contractors and labour working on these projects. Only US$10 million has been coughed up for flood rehabilitation and reconstruction (the US has contributed US$300 million). Noteworthy joint-venture projects inside Pakistan are conspicuous by their absence. The fact also is that China’s premier and businessmen were focused on India, their first stop-over, where they clinched agreements to raise the volume of their trade from US$60 billion currently to US$100 billion per year in the next few years.
Ouch!!!!

Was Jinnah a Shia or a Sunni?

Khaled Ahmed
Jinnah, … was wont to describe himself in public as neither a Shia nor a Sunni. His stock answer to a query about his sect was: was Muhammad [pbuh] the Prophet a Shia or a Sunni?

After 1947, Pakistan adopted the position of denying that the population of the country was divided between Shias and Sunnis, among others. The census that followed took account of Muslims and non-Muslims but ignored the sects: it was also an indirect pledge of the state that it would not discriminate on the basis of sect. The founder of the state, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, although himself a Twelver Shia after conversion from the Ismaili sect, was wont to describe himself in public as neither a Shia nor a Sunni. His stock answer to a query about his sect was: was Muhammad the Prophet [pbuh] a Shia or a Sunni? Yet when he died in 1948, it was necessary for his sister Miss Fatima Jinnah to declare him a Shia in order to inherit his property as per Jinnah’s will. (Sunni law partially rejects the will while Shia law does not.) She filed an affidavit, jointly signed with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan, at the Sindh High Court, describing Jinnah as ‘Shia Khoja Mohamedan’ and praying that his will may be disposed of under Shia inheritance law. The court accepted the petition. But on 6 February 1968, after Miss Jinnah’s demise the previous year, her sister Shirin Bai, moved an application at the High Court claiming Miss Jinnah’s property under the Shia inheritance law on the ground that the deceased was a Shia.
So, the founder of Pakistan is of less purer variety who also happened to eat pork for his breakfast. The title 'Kafir-e-Azam' suits him aptly from TSPians perspective.

More than that. He wined; he could not say his prayers; never went on a umrah or a Hajj; he never fasted during Ramadan and even arranged a lunch for Mountbatten in Karachi during Ramadan in 1947. So, one fails to understand what he meant by 'we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life', his basis for demanding a separate state.

USA makes payment to its favourite prostitute.
ISLAMABAD: Washington transferred more than 600 million dollars to the Pakistani government this week to pay for its efforts in the fight against violent extremists, the US embassy in Islamabad said Thursday.

The 633 million dollar payment under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) programme came on Wednesday, amid reports that top US military commanders in Afghanistan were pushing to expand special forces ground raids across the border into Pakistan’s lawless tribal areas. {This would require additional money :lol: }

2010 bloodiest year for Pakistan since 2001: Report
ISLAMABAD: A total of 1,224 people were killed and 2,157 more injured in 52 suicide attacks across Pakistan since January, making 2010 one of the bloodiest years since the turn of the century.

Though the total number of suicide bombings decreased 35 per cent this year as against the past year, 2010 was the bloodiest year since 2001 in terms of the number of the people killed in such attacks, The News daily reported today.
Pakistan witnessed 80 suicide attacks in 2009 that killed 1,217 people and injured 2,305 others.

On an average, suicide bombers killed 102 persons a month this year, compared to last year's average of 101 killings a month.

The bombers, on an average, killed more than 23 Pakistanis every week and over three persons every day in 2010.

Over four suicide attacks were carried out every month this year, compared to six assaults every month in 2009.

Civilian casualties accounted for 49 per cent of the total deaths caused by suicide bombings this year.

The remainder were personnel from security forces and law enforcement agencies, including the police, military, Frontier Constabulary, Pakistan Rangers, Inter-Services Intelligence and Khasadar militia.

Twelve per cent of casualties were Shias, eight per cent were Ahmedis and six per cent were Barelvi Muslims.

The largest number of deaths in suicide attacks - 416 - was reported in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
It is almost contrary to what was discussed in BRF. It was believed that soosai bumbers were less effective and most of the deaths were Shias and Ahemediyyas.

How did you guys miss this?

Nasiruddin Haqqani detained! This explain why the yanks released 630 million $ earlier this week!

Pakistani security forces have detained a top commander of the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani Network as he was returning from Saudi Arabia to the network's headquarters.

Nasiruddin Haqqani, the son of Jalaluddin, the patriarch of the Haqqani Network, was detained along with a Haqqani Network leader known as Mullah Muhammad Jan and three others, according to Newsweek. Nasiruddin was captured as he was traveling by car from Peshawar to Miramshah in North Waziristan, the headquarters of the Haqqani Network.

"Nasiruddin and his four traveling companions were arrested just as they were returning from the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, a trip that also had included substantial fundraising activities," Afghan Taliban sources told Newsweek.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence directory has reportedly moved Nasiruddin and the four other Haqqani Network members to a safe house.

Newsweek reported that "it is unlikely that US intelligence will get access to Nasiruddin, largely because he could reveal just how closely the Haqqanis are linked to the ISI and other Pakistan intelligence agencies."

US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal agreed, and stated that any access given to Nasiruddin would be closely monitored and scripted.

"By the time we get access to him, if that even happens, he'll be well prepped by the ISI," one intelligence official said. "The Haqqanis are as important to the ISI as the Lashkar-e-Taiba. I don't expect we'll get any meaningful intel from him."

Another intelligence official said Nasiruddin's detention is designed to deflect US demands that the Pakistani military take on the Haqqani Network in North Waziristan.

"This is a show capture; you can be sure Nasiruddin isn't languishing in a prison," another intelligence official said. "With Nasiruddin's capture, the Pakistanis can tell us their so-called offensive in North Waziristan is having an impact."

Top Pakistani military officers have claimed that the military is waging a stealth campaign in North Waziristan, using "surgical" strikes. The Pakistani military claims there are 40,000 troops in North Waziristan conducting operations. But there is no evidence to support these claims, and the US has been forced to launch Predator and Reaper strikes in North Waziristan to disrupt the Taliban and al Qaeda's operations.

Background on Nasiruddin Haqqani

The Haqqani Network has extensive links with al Qaeda and the Taliban, and its relationship with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency has allowed the network to survive and thrive in its fortress stronghold of North Waziristan. The Haqqanis control large swaths of the tribal area and run a parallel administration with courts, recruiting centers, tax offices, and security forces. They have established multiple training camps and safe houses used by al Qaeda leaders and operatives, as well as by Taliban foot soldiers preparing to fight in Afghanistan.

The Haqqani Network has been implicated in some of the biggest terror attacks in the Afghan capital city of Kabul, including the January 2008 suicide assault on the Serena hotel, the February 2009 assault on Afghan ministries, and the July 2008 and October 2009 suicide attacks against the Indian embassy. American intelligence agencies confronted the Pakistani government with evidence, including communications intercepts, which proved the ISI's direct involvement in the 2008 Indian embassy bombing. [See LWJ report Pakistan's Jihad and Threat Matrix report Pakistan backs Afghan Taliban for additional information on the ISI's complicity in attacks in Afghanistan and the region.]

Nasiruddin is a key financier and "emissary" for the Haqqani Network. He is one of several brothers of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the overall operational leader of the Haqqani Network as well as the leader of the Miramshah Regional Military Shura, one of the Afghan Taliban's four regional commands. Siraj was designated by the Treasury Department as a terrorist in March 2008; and in March 2009, the State Department put out a bounty of $5 million for information leading to his capture. US intelligence officials told The Long War Journal that Siraj is a member of al Qaeda's top council.

The US Treasury Department added Nasiruddin to its list of specially designated global terrorists in July 2010. According to the Treasury, he traveled to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates between 2004-2009 to carry out fundraising for the Haqqani Network, al Qaeda, and the Taliban.

"As of mid-2007, [Nasiruddin] Haqqani reportedly received funding from donations from the Gulf region, drug trafficking, and payments from al Qaeda," Treasury stated. "In 2004, he traveled to Saudi Arabia with a Taliban associate to raise funds for the Taliban."

Nasiruddin is based out of Miramshah in the tribal agency of North Waziristan in Pakistan. He is known to speak Arabic and is also a close aide to his father.

Has anyone read Paki Economy page on Wiki.. :rotfl:
During the 1960s, Pakistan was seen as a model of economic development around the world, and there was much praise for its economic progression. Karachi was seen as an economic role model around the world, and there was much praise for the way its economy was progressing. Many countries sought to emulate Pakistan's economic planning strategy and one of them, South Korea, copied the city's second "Five-Year Plan" and World Financial Center in Seoul is designed and modeled after Karachi.

After the highly destructive 2005 earthquake, Pakistan's economy kept expanding, growing by over 7% in the twelve months ending June 30, 2006.
Pakistan emerged as one of the best performers in the wake of the global financial crisis, even as the country waged a costly war against militants. Its domestically-driven economy was minimally affected and its banking sector boasted surplus liquidity while remaining unharmed.
Pakistan hopes to take advantage of significant economies of scale, and to replace China as the largest textile manufacturer
Pakistan comes highest in South Asia but also ranks higher than China, Russia and India which is at 133.
Today Pakistan is amongst the elite group of 11 countries, also termed as 'The Next Eleven' identified by Goldman Sachs investment bank as having a high potential of becoming the world's largest economies in the 21st century along with the BRICs.
By October 2007, Pakistan raised back its Foreign Reserves to a handsome $16.4 billion. Exceptional policies kept Pakistan's trade deficit controlled at $13 billion, exports boomed to $18 billion
In the first four years of the twenty-first century, Pakistan's KSE 100 Index was the best-performing stock market index in the world as declared by the international magazine “Business Week”

Pakistan is endowed with significant mineral resources and emerging as a very promising area for prospecting/exploration of mineral deposits
One of the main reasons that contributed to the increase in trade deficit is the increased imports of earthquake relief related items, especially tents, tarpaulin and plastic sheets to provide temporary shelter to the survivors of earthquake of October 8, 2005 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

As drone strikes have increased, so have assassinations, Pakis say
In interviews, several Pakistani officials, tribesmen, and one militant said the torrent of strikes has forced residents to stay indoors and deny friends shelter, fearing allegations of spying. The attacks have forced militants to ditch truck convoys and cellphones, and, in the case of the Pakistani Taliban, shutter an office in the town of Mir Ali.

Above all, residents said, the stepped-up strikes have perpetuated an entrenched culture of clan rivalry and retribution. With scant proof, militants are purging suspected moles, and their willingness to do so has made the accusation a valuable tool for people seeking revenge for land disputes or other personal enmities.
The intelligence official said 70 informants for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency, which provides intelligence to the CIA for drone strikes, have been assassinated in North Waziristan since 2004, making the area nearly a "black hole" for spies today.

"They are out to kill us," the intelligence official said. "That puts the fear of God into people who may want to work for us."

Karna, excellent. :)

I will slightly modify the third point and add a fourth one too.
Our terrorist can be your terrorist even if you don't want (2000s) - Bad Taliban
Our terrorists can be our terrorists as we want (2010s) - Good Taliban

On the first point regarding the Army, the Pakistani duplicity became apparent later. Not one soldier from that 'your Army' fought against the Communists and not one shot was fired against the Communists using all the modern fighting machines supplied for free by the US. OTOH, the Pakistanis went to bed with the Chinese Communists.

From WaPo:
Pakistan textile exports: Call for wider lifting of U.S. tariffs intensifies

Funny thing is that the Pakis believe that dropping tariffs will miraculously increase exports to the US. The real reasons why no one is buying from the Pakis are at the bottom of the article
Because of security concerns, prospective foreign buyers are reluctant to visit Pakistan. High cotton and polyester prices and general inflation have increased production costs significantly.

More crippling, though, are electricity and gas shortages. Some factory owners use more costly generators and wood furnaces to compensate, but many just choose to leave power looms idle and let workers go.

"The Christmas and New Year orders are coming now, and this is the time to ship them," said Waheed Khaliq Raamay, owner of a weaving factory in Faisalabad. "Because of the gas shortage, we are losing customers - and we are losing our faith as well."
As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Even if the US drops tariffs on Paki textiles, the Pakis are still going to have to find US buyers willing to buy from them. Too many have been burned in the past and the US Government needs to offer massive tax incentives to the buyers before they'll even consider buying anything from pakland again.

^ This relief camp blast reminds me of a Docu recently I watched from the beeb about some Dr. helping the ppl suffering from the floods , all of them were saying that the water was diverted from areas where the rich ppl have their farms etc. But no one talked about the army connection to the farms. We need to find the PR ppl of the TSPA and see their modus operandi and use it effectively against them.

The international response is as good as done , no ones talking about relief work or aid to them.
I guess no one feels the need to help the mouth that is going to bite them.

6 HuJI men guilty of Sachin, Sourav kidnap plot

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/6-huj ... ot/729186/
Six HuJI militants, including three Pakistanis, were on Friday held guilty by a Delhi court for conspiring to kidnap cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly in 2002 to secure release of two jailed terrorists.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Pinki pronounced the verdict in the case in which the convicts were also accused of plotting to assassinate former President A P J Abdul Kalam during his visit to Patna in 2002.

The Delhi Police had also charged them with conspiring to attack the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai.

Hain ji, did I miss some latest Paki news or what? Did I miss that news that the Pakis have finally repealed their holy blasphemy laws???

Because here is a very high and top Paki, the "Chairman of Nazriya Pakistan Council" no less, who says that the Quaid-e-Djinnah was a very keen fondler-e-lover of, er..., things:
Zahid Malik, Chairman of Nazriya Pakistan Council and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer...said the Quaid was lover of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)...He narrated various incidents to establish how the Founder of Pakistan was a lover of the Holy Quran.

...(on this day) Special prayers were offered for a long life of Zahid Malik, success of his mission launched by him for integrity, prosperity and glory of Pakistan.
Quaid-i-Azam returned from London under inspiration from Prophet Muhammad

Pak: Suicide attack on UN agency; 40 killed, 72 hurt

http://www.rediff.com/news/report/pak-b ... 101225.htm
Geo News channel claimed that the suicide attack was carried out by a woman though this could not be independently confirmed.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Authorities usually blame the Taliban for such bombings. The World Food Programme had set up the centre to distribute food aid to people affected or displaced by an anti-Taliban operation launched by security forces in Bajaur tribal agency.

A suicide bomber struck a World Food Programme distribution centre in the restive Bajaur tribal region of northwest Pakistan on Saturday, killing at least 40 people and injuring 72 others.

A large number of people had gathered at the UN agency's food distribution centre when the attacker detonated a suicide vest.

The real reason why there is no PA action in North Waziristan
There are reports that the real cause for this delay is because the Taliban are being shifted from North Waziristan to Kurram Agency and until the ‘shifting’ is complete, an operation will not take place.
