India, Pakistan must resume talks

An emissary of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Quraishi in Singapore a few days ago to remind him of his promise to visit New Delhi to resume talks which Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna had initiated in Islamabad two months ago.

Guys disappointing news sorry to be breaking the bad news

Pakistan Police Avert ‘Massive’ Truck Bomb Attack, AFP Reports

Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Police in northwestern Pakistan seized a pick-up truck packed with a ton of explosives, averting an attack that could have caused “massive” destruction, Agence France Presse reported, citing police.

Dilawar Bangash, a local police chief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, told AFP the attackers intended to use the truck bomb to target religious processions in the city of Kohat marking the Islamic holy month of Muharram. Two suspects were arrested, he said.

This op-ed is full of myths, blatant lies and half-truths. How does WSJ publish such an article ?
A sample
Al Qaeda terrorists who fled from Afghanistan came to Pakistan and settled initially in South Waziristan. Through successful intelligence and law-enforcement operations, we eliminated al Qaeda from our cities and destroyed their command, communication and propaganda centers. They fled to the adjoining North Waziristan, Bajur and Swat regions.

He talks as though North Waziristan, Swat & Bajaur were part of another country ! It was the PA/ISI combine which allowed the Al Qaeda/Taliban terrorist leadership and foot soldiers to escape into Pakistan in the first place. They were sheltered there with the full knowledge of the ISI. The Americans had to sweat it out to locate the likes of KSM, al Libbi, al Shibh etc. KSM could be caught only ~18 months later. Others were caught whenever Pakistan needed money from the US or before a Pakistani Presidential visit to the US. Both Bush & Obama have accused Pakistan of being dubious. Several Congressional Research Reports have pointed to Pakistan's duplicity. Almost all US Administrators involved with Afghanistan including military commanders of the US & NATO have pointed to deep nexus between the PA/ISI and Taliban/Al Qaeda. No neighbouring country of Pakistan has a good word to say about Pakistan in its so-called fight against terrorists. OTOH, they have directly accused Pakistan of being the fountainhead of terrorism. Prominent and powerful world leaders have berated Pakistan for its support to terrorism. Why, even Zardari & Gilani have acknowledged the Musharraf policy of 'running with the hares and hunting with the hounds'.

And, yet, Musharraf has the arrogance to claim 'successful intelligence and law-enforcement operations' ? And, WSJ publishes it ? Pathetic.

SS, I pray that this happens ASAP. That will reduce the Population of the TSP be at least 15 %.

PS I finaly finished with Rafiq Zakira's Man who divided India. The second part of the book is truly a masterpiece if one needs to understand the present day TSP and whats happening there. It was like reading BRF.

Not hosting any WC match but PCB set to earn 16 million

Pakistan may not be hosting any match of the 2011 World Cup but the country' Cricket Board would still be richer by $ 15 to 17 million from the tournament. Sources in the PCB have confirmed that the International Cricket Council and the three host nations of the World Cup --India, Sri Lanka
and Bangladesh -- have assured Pakistan it would get its share of hosting fees, sponsorship and ticket revenue earnings from the matches it was supposed to host.

Pakistan was given 14 matches including a semi-final of the World Cup but after militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore last year, the ICC shifted the games to other three host countries.

"But despite the disappointment of not being part of the World Cup as hosts Pakistan has been reassured it would get the hosting fees of the 14 matches plus part of the sponsorship and ticker sale revenues earned from these matches wherever they are hosted," one source said.

He said, in the recent executive board meeting, the new President of the ICC Sharad Pawar had assured PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt that Pakistan would benefit financially from the World Cup.

Since the attack on the Sri Lankan team, Pakistan has been forced to play all its home series at neutral venues because of the volatile security situation in the country.

The source said besides getting a hosting fees of $ 10.5 million, the ICC and other host countries will also pay the PCB additional compensation for the loss of hosting rights.

The PCB had initiated legal proceedings against the ICC after it moved away the World Cup matches from Pakistan last year but both parties settled their dispute and reached an agreement on payment of hosting fees and compensation.

Jizyah for ensuring incident free WC?

Wow, who is the artist. They are not bad. The only trouble is that the Taliban if they discover the artist will at minimum chop off his hands.

Just goes to show that the People can be reclaimed. From the monster that pervades in the wild west of the TSP.

No no. It is important that we talk of Pukeland's achievements

Here are the details:

Thanks for posting that wiki page. a paki spin on paki achievements is like putting ganja leaves on a compost pit. Paki gets high and starts appreciating himself, while we get nauseous at the sight and stench....

the satellite was planned to launch in 1986 from Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center but was postponed due to political and economic reasons. The Satellite was finally launched in 1990 from Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China, aboard a Long March 2E. According to the SUPARCO's Media Center, the satellite successfully completed its designed life.

Darn! If they had a few more shekels, they would have filled it full-tank and lit that giant booster of theirs. But cruel fate made them depend on second rate Long Marches.

Says in the table to the right, Orbital period as 96 mins (one and a half hour - I guess Samar Mubarkmand must have missed it, considering his perpetual diarrheal state)

The satellite was slightly bigger than Soviet Sputnik 1 satellite in size. Badr-1 was an indigenously built and developed satellite of Pakistan.

That poser of Space Race, Sergei Korolev should reply to that spam mail he gets for enlargement pill.....

The satellite was built and developed indigenously and domestically by SUPARCO's scientists. After the successful launch and operations of Badrs satellite, Pakistan became a first Muslim world country and placed in second country in South Asia to developed and built a satellite. The satellite gave Pakistani scientists an academic, scientific, and an amateur community experience in telemetry, tracking, control and data communications as the satellite successfully completed store and dump message tests for 5 weeks.

some more waft from Sonmiani article
Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center was extensivily used by NASA to conduct research in Space and rocket technology. Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center was South Asia's first space research center and launch facility.

Pakistan encouraging Hamid Karzai in coalition with militants

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/8197902/Pakistan-encouraging-Hamid-Karzai-in-coalition-with-militants.html

Pakistan's military is championing a power-sharing plan that would force Afghan president Hamid Karzai into coalition with some of the most deadly Taliban factions in return for peace.
Gen Kiyani and his intelligence chief have met President Karzai twice in recent months and he is understood to be considering their proposal.
In a recent briefing in Islamabad, Gen Kiyani outlined his plan and Pakistan's deteriorating relationship with the United States.

Pakistan peace plan: General Kiyani shows true colours

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/8197565/Pakistan-peace-plan-General-Kiyani-shows-true-colours.html

General Kiyani's peace plan marks a moment of honesty in which Pakistan is finally coming clean about its resentment towards the US, writes Dean Nelson.

Hmmmm now how would unkil react to such khanjar in the musharraf ?

Endgame in Afghanistan getting near?

Kiya Nahi has put his cards on the table. Now let's see what Ombaba does. It's rather interesting the Viceroy is lying in a hospital bed so that generates a bit of an unknown factor as far as the Pakis are concerned.

Interestingly we've had a spate of comments from the Europe about Paki terrorism coming from the top leadership. I wonder if it all ties in?

As Lalmohan says, the real winner if Unkil runs with his tail tucked between his tail will be dragon. It gets its hand on Afghan's mineral resources plus a land route to Iran. Pakis being Pakis will sell Afghanistan to the dragon for a few hand me down military hardware which will give them a perceived sense of parity with India.

Interesting choices for Ombaba. And yes I expect the Chini boss will be very, very nice while in India. The idea would be lull our credulous leaders into thinking that the dragon is tame while it extends its claws towards Afghanistan.

What you outline could be quite possible. If that happens, then Obama's famous line: "Yes we can..." will have an entirely new meaning.

"Yes we can ... be that stupid!"

Meanwhile, as always India will have to fight its own battles.

Amitji,

One aspect though is, whether AmirKhan is really that stupid?Whether they were just waiting for Pakis to put their cards on the table.?

True India has to fight her own battles. However I wish paki gets its a$$ whipped by the unkil before it leaves. But I guess that is wishing for too much

Boss I'm not saying as a statement of fact that the Khan is stupid. I said IF (in reference to the scenario that Lal Mullah outlined) that happens...

What is pretty obvious is that the endgame as begun. And it's a teen patti type of game.

as i read the article again, i can't help thinking that this 'revelation' is not new, but is being released as a new piece of information. wiki made the case for pakistan being unreliable, now kyun nahin chips in with something that has been doing the rounds for some time (re Haqqani) - if indeed he made such a statement recently - which i cannot see. so it might even be the case that pakistan is being painted into a corner deliberately... Broadly speaking Southern Caucases/Pakistan/Afghanistan/ Iran/ East Turkeministam & Tibet is the area that will define geopolitics in the early 21st century.Whose ever writ runs in this area will have a huge say in the Global geopolitical affairs.

America(Afghanistan/parts of pakistan), Russia(Southern Caucases), India(Tajikistan/Baluchistan) and China(East Turkeministan/Tibet and Pakistan) all have their spheres of influence in this vast swathes of land.No one will voluntarily vacate any inch in this area. What Ombaba will do is draw down troops and keep the bases and attack via drones..... AREA DENIAl( to every one else) will be the key objective for America.

China will try to seize the initiative. Status quo is ok for US, but the Chinese wants to change this. Then they have to seize initiative. Both China and US have to make the play at Russia and India. If both Russia and India choose one or the other, that side will emerge as the winner. At the moment India and Russia are not tilting towards China and thats why USA is the global power. For China to rise, they have to deal with India. An out right military victory is stuff of wet dreams, which means they have to learn compromise, an art the communist proletariat disguised barbaric dictators of China have'nt learnt yet. So for now.... nothing will change. more staus quo and fight via their rentier TFTA Jarnails!

Pakistan will not go anywhere unless India materially helps it to get destroyed physically.

at 4% GDP, Pakistan annual army budget is $6B+ in 2010. As long as the 3.5 friends can fund that much TSPA will survive and keep the nation hostage for its terrorist activities.

TSPA is the warlord of Pakistan. It already happened. There is no next level in its fall of "failed-state". Since TSPA is already a overt army-of-allah, there is no threat from islamic-fundamentalism. Show me one outfit who is more islamic-fundamental than TSPA.

The other wanna-be warlad is good-taliban. Since they do not have 3.5 friends, they will remain a wanna-be for foreseable future.

P.S: Even warlads run madarsas, schools, medical centers, build roads and so on... look at the dimond-warlords of africa and they do all these things depending on the national economy.

Uncle Sam can change all that by dropping just one Daisy Cutter in NWA and if the Pakis don't capitulate drop a few more.

Why Uncle Sam won't do that defies any logic.

Disppointed over terror remarks, Pakistan tells France, Germany

Pakistan today conveyed its "disappointment" to France and Germany over remarks by their leaders linking it to terrorism directed against India, saying such comments were "unjustified and uncalled for".

The foreign ministry conveyed the "government and the people of Pakistan's disappointment separately to the Ambassador of France and the German Charge d'Affaires," foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said in a statement.

Made in Pakistan fake money floods India

Latest home ministry data shows 4.66 lakh fake notes worth Rs 21.38 crore were seized in India in the first 10 months of this year. By the year-end, the figure would likely cross the Rs 25-crore mark, a ministry official said

As an Indian, so what should we do then? Be extremely careful while accepting a Rs 500 note, which seems the favourite of the counterfeiters. As many as 2.86 lakh fake notes of Rs 500 denomination have been seized this year, followed by 1.09 lakh fake Rs 100 notes and 56,420 fake notes of Rs 1,000 denomination. "Most of the high-value fake notes are also of very good quality," an official said.

Alarmed by the high-quality of the notes that make it extremely difficult to differentiate between a fake and a genuine currency note, India has already complained to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in France about Pakistan's role in printing and circulating fake Indian banknotes.

This was based on India's assertion to the FATF that the notes seized in India and other transit countries such as Nepal, Malaysia and the UAE have the same paper as that of the Pakistani currency.

GoI should allow Pakistan to export more items to India: Pak chambers

In order to increase bilateral trade between India and Pakistan, various industry chambers in Pakistan feel the Indian government should allow more items to be imported from Pakistan through Attari Road, Wagah (Amritsar). They also expect Pakistan to include more items in the list of goods to be imported from India through the Wagah route. At present, India mainly exports fresh vegetables and meat through the Attari road while Pakistan exports dry fruits to India through the route. Last year, the quantum of trade between the two countries through Attari Road, Wagah was about Rs 1,200 crore

Echoing similar sentiments, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Executive Member Nadeem A Sandhu said, “We have strong presence in the pre-cast concrete roof segment and wish to export the same to India as the government here is putting a lot of thrust on infrastructure”. He added the informal trade between the two countries stood at $1,152 million (Rs 52,093 crore).

One thing we also should keep our eyes on is the fact that for all the GUBOing and ball holding going on between unkil and munna, unkil is also spreading biss and tranquility in FATA, Balochistan and the rest of munna-land.
The objective initially was to try and wean the terror loving public from the high of islamic jihad. The hope was that once the public faced the terror first hand, saw their own loved ones being killed to insane violence, their support for jeehard would somewhat dissipate.

The paki ISI countered that with "No muslim can do that" line, blaming India, but secretly knowing that unkil is getting this done.

Now I dunno how close unkil is to weaning the munnas off terrorism and jihad, but if unkil feels the heat, he can vacate Afghanistan to save his soldiers, but that doesn't mean that he can't continue to fund and stoke fires from far away.

Munna is not going to have it easy.

Pakistan conveys its disappointment to France and Germany

Pakistan on Monday conveyed its disappointment to France and Germany over the reported remarks by the French President and the German Chancellor relating to Pakistan.

Both France and Germany were well aware of the great sacrifices being rendered by Pakistan in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Therefore, incriminating Pakistan in the context of terrorism was unjustified and uncalled for, the statement stressed.
