Not to despair, there is hope yet! So what if he couldn't become Jacket Munna. Munna realizes that if he studies hard and does his homework every day he can go one better!

But now Allah has given me a new life. I want to concentrate on my studies and I want to work hard and join the Pakistan army.

Blessed are the nations where a 'career alternative' can mean either wearing a soosai vest or the Pakjabi army uniform. :rotfl:

To make an analogy, North Vietnam and the United States held talks even while they were intensely fighting each other in Laos, Cambodia and South Vietnam.

The Pakistani actions in arresting Barader is like the Chinese or the Soviets arresting Le Duc Tho in Moscow or Beijing for failing to consult them in the negotiations!

Right now the US is trying to encourage splits between the Taliban and the Pakistani government, and its busy trying to decapitate those like the Haqqanis who are too wedded to the PA to consider splitting.

If the US fails (as it probably will) to get the Taliban to make the concessions they want, the fighting will have to escalate. That will mean threatening the Quetta Shura's sanctuaries in northern Baluchistan as well as N. Waziristan.

That is after all what Nixon successfully did with the Linebacker II bombing campaign in 1972.

I want to say defeat in Af-Pak is not an option. US will have to do what it has to do and damn the torpedoes. Or else malaise kicks in and not good for US or anyone else.

US kills 6 in pair of Predator strikes in North Waziristan
By Bill RoggioOctober 27, 2010
Unmanned US strike aircraft carried out two attacks today in Pakistan's Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan. The strikes are the first in nine days. The Predators or the heavily armed Reapers struck a compound in the village of Spin Wam in the Mir Ali area in the first attack, killing two people, according to the Associated Press. Foreign al Qaeda fighters were thought to be sheltering in the compound."The target was the house of a militant, Nasimullah Khan, where some foreigners had been staying as his guests," a Pakistani intelligence official told AFP.The second strike, which took place 12 hours later, hit a vehicle in the village of Degan in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan. Two Arab al Qaeda members and two "Westerners" were reported killed, the Associated Press reported. The targets of the strikes are not known, and no senior Taliban or al Qaeda leaders were reported killed.
Today's strike takes place as the US is seeking to disrupt a plot by al Qaeda modeled after the Mumbai terror assault. Al Qaeda operatives have been planning to carry out a terror assault targeting several major European cities. The plot is said to have been ordered by Osama bin Laden.

The reason i am requesting you to take this burdern is that you have written some of the best and articulate posts on this issue.

Second specialised topic that may be started is "Options for exit stragegy for USA from Afghanistan". I belive that it is Indian interest and Pakistan dis-interest that US leaves Afghanistan and then concentrates on dis-memberment of Pakistan as long term solution.

And to think of it i use those subways everyday! NoVA is fast turning into another Ann Arbor,MI albeit many a times more dangerous thanks to the 'quom ki betis/betas' in VA. Mir Aimal Kansi, Alwaki,5 students from NoVA who went to Pak for 'jihad' and now this moron. I think it is fair to say no place is safe if there is a large Paki community close by.

After this incident,I expect more military aid to Pakistan soon.

I think Ombaba should include pure land in his itenary for asia tour. I mean if hillary's dil (heart) is in paki lands we can see which organ of ombaba is with jihadis. Its time for US to put its words into action. Else pakjabis will take them to be same as SDRE.

Yes. Jones said we got lucky with Shazad and who knows the next time. However, the FBI was following this fellow and set him up. Unlike Shazad, he didn't have contacts in TSP. Obama was aware of this case from early this year. As the US Congress election is coming, and this fellow is useless, might as well look tough on national security. The Democrats in the executive branch don't take a shit without planning politcal spin.

$10,000 is not a lot of money, so its revealing that he couldn't just hand it over from his own funds. Since Mr. Shahzad had the same kind of profile, it seems like being poor is a necessary condition for turning to the dark side in the USA.

US missile strike kills 14 in Pakistan
American unmanned planes fired two missiles at a house in a Pakistani tribal region close to the Afghan border on Thursday, killing seven alleged militants, the latest in a barrage of such attacks, intelligence officials said.

The strike in North Waziristan was the third attack there in the past 24 hours.

Opposition to U.S. ‘branding' of aid in Pakistan
Anita Joshua

http://www.hindu.com/2010/10/28/stories/2010102853861500.htm

The United States government's pressure on humanitarian organisations to brand relief material routed through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Pakistan with the Agency's handshake logo and the words “from the American people” has caused considerable disquiet within the international NGO community stationed here in strength.

So much so that the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum (PHF) — a consortium of the biggest international NGOs based in Pakistan — submitted a document this month to the administration of President Barack Obama suggesting alternatives to explicit branding of humanitarian aid funded by the U.S. government in Pakistan.

...

So, as the floods began ravaging the country, the U.S. stepped in quickly and visibly to earn itself an image makeover. Much attention was paid to public diplomacy and every instalment of assistance to the flood-affected areas — to the very smallest detail like ‘so many packets of halal meals being ferried in from U.S. stocks in Afghanistan on this many separate supply flights' — was announced to the media. Fact sheets were issued on a daily basis to the media on the “U.S. Response to Pakistan's Flooding Disaster”.

In this background, pressure has been mounting on aid workers to drive home the message. In fact, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been quoted as suggesting last month that some NGOs were afraid to be associated with the American government in Pakistan.

Attacks on NGOs

While conceding the U.S. government's argument that failure to clearly advertise the American hand behind the help being rendered was a “missed opportunity”, Mr. Worthington wrote in The Washington Post last week that “overtly branding our efforts as sponsored by the U.S. Government only makes our jobs harder and more dangerous … In Pakistan, where aid workers' lives are more often at stake, an enforced branding campaign could undermine our ability to deliver assistance as fast as possible without being a lightning rod for protests or attacks.”

...

Responding to the criticism, Mark Ward of USAID blogged that branding is not just required by law but premised on the belief that people have a right to know where their assistance is coming from. Maintaining that USAID is sensitive to the risks of branding in environments where association with foreigners can turn a humanitarian worker into a target, he said waivers would be granted to the branding requirement where security risks warrant it as was done in FATA and Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa.

Thats why USA needs to provide more baksheesh ? Make them rich to avoid them from answering their true calling ? Shahzad was a MBA, Only if he spent his time doing productive work instead of frolicking with mad mullahs, his financial life could have been considerably better. It's not that these Pakis are disadvantaged or handicapped. Hatred is their country's sole founding principle and their primary nature, they just can't escape it's consequences.

being poor is one factor, there are others. the ideal soosai abdul is mentally unstable and vulnerable. he is a victim, he wants a saviour to guide him to the righteous path. finding a poor distressed abdul is easier than finding a rich distressed abdul, who may not be talking much

poor abdul = soosai bummer
rich abdul = organiser and leader

Does the extreme resistance of the Pakistani army to conduct operations in N waziristan have to do with the presence of OBL himself in that area? Maybe OBL is under the protection of the Haqqani faction.

We understand that these days Haqqani faction == AlQaida more or less. If the old news that the Haqqani faction rescued and welcomed OBL as he crossed over from Tora Bora into parachinar in NWFP is true, then one must assume, that OBL is present in N Waziristan.

The ISI would love to keep him in safe houses in some secure pakistani city, but they probably fear that the US will find out. So after OBL was nurutred to health, he was probably entrusted to the Haqqanis to shelter, with the ISI indirectly involved, but overseeing everything.

Lalprof,
You are right, but I need to add this.

There are a lot of poor and desperate people in massa land these days. There are a lot of african americans who have discovered the virtues of islam, yet this particular phenomenon is restricted exclusively to the pakis.

I think that the operating system software in the paki grey matter has been infected with the Wahabi-Jihadi trojan.

I will relate a story that an aquantaince told me about a gentleman of Pakistani origin. This gentleman was visited socially by my friend who's from India, and they got talking about the events in Af-Pak. This gentleman has very similar views to what we see on the porky-dorky forum, namely - the jews and christians are conspiring against islam (I am sure that he omitted hindoo in reverence to the hindoo guest in front of him), he was ridiculing his wife, who is a muslim from Africa, but of Indian origin, because according to him, he was much closer in terms of ancestery to the arabs whereas she was probably someone who's ancesters were poor lower caste indians who had converted to islam to take advantage of the mughal rule !!!

Such is the level of delusion these guys live their lives in. These phuckers actually believe the tripe that they read on deaf and dumb, that they get in their sermons from the friendly neighbourhood wahabi mullah.

BTW the pakistani gentleman is now referred to as a 'sleeper cell' by my friend.

I am sure there are many rabble rousing mullahs around in the US who perhaps no longer openly preach in the mosques, but dish out their bile in private meetings with such potential 'students'.

I think that the more the US goes out to preserve pakistan's H&D, these phuckers actually start to think that they are invincible as a race, because according to their narractive, they've already defeated one superpower, and the other is on its way to defeat, and is paying jaziya in the interim.

Poakstan means Peace
KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — Gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a Japanese consular vehicle in Pakistan's largest city Thursday, wounding two local employees and underscoring the fragile security in the country.
Islamist militants have targeted foreigners in Pakistan before, but police said the attack may have been an attempted robbery. Karachi is a chaotic city of 16 million, and violence linked to criminal gangs, political and ethnic rivalries and Muslim extremists is common.Elsewhere in the country, an American missile strike killed seven suspected militants close to the Afghan border, the latest in a surge of such attacks over the last two months. The shooting in Karachi happened soon after the three Pakistanis in the car had stopped by a bank to get cash, police official Javed Akbar Riaz said. The two wounded men were in stable condition, he said.Kazuwhiro Kawase, a spokesman at Japan's Foreign Ministry in Tokyo, confirmed the shooting and said no Japanese diplomats were in the vehicle. Police in Karachi said the car's license plates indicated it belonged to the Japanese consulate.Japan and Pakistan have good relations, and Tokyo has been generous in providing aid to the Muslim-majority nation.

Meanwhile more on the piss-fool activities of the purelanders in the Washington DC area.
FBI: Subway bomb suspect wanted to become a martyr
WASHINGTON – A Pakistani-born suburban father was trying to enlist in a terrorist organization in January and was eager to become a martyr when he unknowingly walked into an FBI sting and began helping plan a purported attack on the Washington subway system, according to court documents.

What followed was an elaborate ruse in which Farooque Ahmed was given intelligence-gathering duties and coded information in a Quran by two individuals posing as al-Qaida operatives as part of the supposed plot to kill commuters on the nation's second-busiest subway system.

Ahmed, 34, of Ashburn, Va., was caught on FBI surveillance video discussing his firearm, martial arts and knife skills and offering to teach those deadly tactics to others,
...

Looks like massa not only has them under close surveillence but is actively picking out the ripe fruit.

Nuggets from TFT

Pakistan most illiterate

Reported in Jang, Pakistan was 162nd out of the world’s 180 countries in terms of literacy. Forty percent children simply did not go to school. Sixty percent of those who went, dropped out after primary levels. (So only 24% Paki children pass out of primary school) Karachi, Rawalpindi and Abbottabad were high-literacy cities. Lahore was not included.

‘Khujli’ of Dr AQ Khan

Columnist Hamid Mir wrote in Jang that the world famous scientist and Pakistan’s father of the atom bomb Dr AQ Khan had frequent khujli (itch) to reveal truths in his columns and one secret he would reveal is that Musharraf had decided to hand Dr Khan over to the Americans but was prevented because prime minister Zafrullah Jamali refused to give his cabinet’s consent to the decision to hand over.

Quaid was not secular!

Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt, former vice-chancellor Dr Rafiq Ahmad stated that the Quaid-e-Azam was not secular but possessed an Islamic mind from an early age. In fact he was in favour of reviving Islam and could be rated the greatest South Asian Muslim leader after Emperor Aurangzeb.

Put Bilour on trial!

Chief Editor of daily Jinnah went to police station Civil Lines in Lahore and got an FIR registered against the ANP senior minister in Pakhtunkhwa Bashir Bilour for treason, as he took part in the conspiracy to make Pakistan observe two Eids by defying the central Moon-Sighting Committee. This has led to confusion and defamation of the country in the world, he complained. :rotfl: :rotfl:

PM likes ‘qeema’

Talking to daily Jinnah, PM Gilani said that he liked qeema (ground meat) best in food and wanted to be a lawyer but instead became journalist after his father’s death. He said he liked rain (sic!) and used to dance in rain (nahata tha) when he was in jail. He loved old Indian songs and liked Imran Khan best as sportsman. He was ammee ka ladla (beloved of mother). He said he never missed a fast.

Musharraf opened door of my car and saluted!

Quoted by Express, father of Pakistan’s atom bomb and greatest scientist Dr AQ Khan said that junior Musharraf used to go up and open the door of his car and salute him whenever his car came to the GHQ. :rotfl:  He said Musharraf was foolish to attack Kargil (bewaqufi). He said one or two bombs landing on Kahuta will not harm it.

Suicide-bombing is Islamic!

An angry Gulbuddin Hekmatyar was quoted by Jang as saying that those muftis who issue fatwas saying suicide-bombing was banned in Islam were charlatans and sarkari (government-bribed) and deen-farosh (sellers of faith). But those who killed innocent people inside mosques were either non-Muslim or ladeen (secular).

‘Lanat’ on Musharraf!

Reported in Jang, during a telephone conference to collect funds, Pervez Musharraf was cursed by callers with ‘lanat’. One retired brigadier told him he would hit him with two shoes because he killed innocent girls (Lal Masjid) and sold daughters of Pakistan to America (Aafiya Siddiqi). :rotfl: :rotfl:

Piety and politics

In a lighter moment on the sidelines of his political debut in London, Mush reminisced to his friends and associates about the good old days. Talking of various people he’d worked with, he mentioned former premier Jamali and said that he was so pious that he had to be sacked. Warming to his theme, Mush said Mr Jamali said his Isha prayer at night, then Tahajjud, and then another prayer between Tahajjud and Fajr, after which he went to sleep. Naturally, he didn’t wake up till the next afternoon and was to be found behind his prime ministerial desk by 4 pm every day. This meant that files piled up and no meetings with foreign dignitaries could take place. The business of government had come to a virtual standstill, said Mush, and finally he had to send one of his khaki lieutenants to Mr Jamali, to read out the riot act.

Ittefaq Nama from TFT

Agencies are not leaving me or other opposition figures and figurines like Asma Jahangir who has become President of Supreme Court Bar Association despite of the total zor lagaoed in her against by you-know-who. I am saying this to Pakistan Muslim League N (Inner Circle). They are saying yes, but fust give weekly critique of Zardari’s non-performance on every issue. Oye, again bore things?! Rubbish economy, rubbish education, rubbish law and odder, rubbish cruption. Look here, I told them, I am not having verbal diary that I can waste my voice on these bore, bore things.

It is batter that I should be writing shikayet against ISI to Al-King that look here, these are the dozers of the bull which are regularly bulldozing democracy and you have paloed them by giving them free money and oil, hain ji. Here is my secret latter to Al-King, of course in Arabic:

“As salaam alaikum brother-un v’al bother-un ma-gnificient Al-King W’al Mart al haza min-iscule sycophants in min-istry al-defence un-able to control-un ISI w’al over-zealous operatives hu w’al ma-king life im-possible f’il self w’al other opposition figures in-cluding im-portant figurines like Asma bint Jahangir ya zauja w’al Jahangir. Permit slave, ie self, to say w’al it is being Your Majesty’s fault and that of Awami Jamhooriya-e-Cheen that haza-rdous ma-terials were proliferated by Haji Abdul Qadeer Khan, urf Baba-e-Bum.

“If I may pesh karo in khidmat of Al-King that min-ting of money was done un-der Al-King’s very nose, w’al-lowing in cash w’al not once Your Majesty, King of Kings, Sultan of Sultans, Pran of Prans, Ladder of Ladders, al-erted Haji against this nefarious ac-tivity. W’al haza min why, we should ask? An-swer is that behind Haji Abdul Qadeer stood Ghaddar Al-Musharraf w’al his min-dless mil-itary. Al-together, Bush by ma-king w’ar on Iraq had pushed al-l Muslimeen to w’all, that much I am un-derstanding. (Al-so, I am not forgiving Bush because on visit to Jeddah while I was in exile there, he met me at a state reception and Al-King introduced me as being from Islami Jamhooriya-e-Pakistan. To which Bush said, “howdy, Mr Gandhi. You look so much like your mother India Gandhi”) :rotfl: .

“But now, Al-king, loot kar mera jehan, chhup gaye ho tum kahaaan, tum kahaaaaaan, tum kahaaaaaaaaaaaaan … now some redress should be made. Brother Barack Al-Hussain Al-Obama is not Bush, Mashallah. He is al-so, by Allah’s grace, khilaaf-un shadeed-un Al-Army f’il Islami Jamhooriya-e-Pakistan. Thanks God. Now you should walk in step f’il Washington and put pressure on Al Afwaaj-e-Pakistan to be nice to democracy w’al democrats, excluding Asif Ali Zardari.”

At and of latter, I wrote “The And”. Then I added PS: “Brother Al-King, if you do this, and when I become Prime Minister, Inshallah, Al-Jamhooriya-e-Pakistan will award you its highest civilian model.”

Allah hafiz,

NS

Japan’s nuclear doublespeak
http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news- ... oublespeak
Mahishasuri
Post-1945 Japan has ostensibly maintained a strong anti-nuclear posture given how it is the only country to have actually suffered nuclear attacks - courtesy the United States. Yet, over a period of time Japan is moving out of the shadows of its professed anti-militarist position as it develops a vibrant arms industry, partners the US in Missile Defence and maintains one of the largest peaceful nuclear programmes in the world. As if that was not enough to worry neighbours like China and the Koreas, who still recall the bitter legacy of Japanese militarism, Japan has also begun adopting a dual approach on the nuclear issue with an unstinting opposition to Pakistan’s nuclear programme, but the beginnings of an accommodation to the far more extensive Indian nuclear programme. Most recently, this has been reflected in the outcome of the meeting between the Japanese and Indian premiers in Tokyo which not only resulted in a trade pact, but also the promise of Japanese export to India of its state-of-the-art nuclear technology.
India, of course, as a result of its nuclear deal with the US has become a vast market for nuclear exports and countries like France and the UK are casting aside their superfluous non-proliferation concerns in order to gain access to this market - with the US clearing the NSG and IAEA hurdles. For the Japanese, the road is less smooth because there is still a strong anti-nuclear weapons lobby within Japan. Yet the Japanese Premier, Naoto Kan, is undeterred and stated that India and Japan had “agreed to speed up negotiations for civil nuclear energy cooperation while seeking India’s understanding of our country’s sentiment as a nuclear-bombed nation.” So, unlike the demands on Pakistan by the Japanese to sign the NPT and CTBT, no such demand is being made on India - only an apologetic appeal for Indian understanding as to why the Japanese will take a little more time to give India sensitive nuclear technology.
In December 1995, Japan was reported to have 4.7 tons of plutonium - enough for 700 nuclear warheads. Japan also has an indigenous nuclear enrichment plant - something the Indians are still seeking to perfect - which can also provide enriched uranium for nuclear weapons production. Japan has also developed the M-V three-stage solid fuel rocket, similar in design to the US LGM-118A Peacekeeper ICBM, which could serve as a ready delivery vehicle. In addition, Japan has been involved in developing the latest fighter aircraft with the US also. So, it has all the nuts and bolts in place if it chooses to go nuclear. Already, there is a growing move to do away totally with the constitutional restrictions on Japan developing a full-scale military.
Despite being a signatory to the NPT, because Japan continues to expand its civil nuclear base, issues of safety will be a source of concern within its immediate Asian neighbourhood. Moreover, in the context of the threat of nuclear terror from non-state actors, Japan can be extremely vulnerable because it was in Japan that chemical weapons terrorist attacks took place in 1994 and 1995 by a group calling itself Aum Shinrikyo, presently on the US terrorist groups’ list.
With such a record, is it not time for Japan to stop its hypocrisy on the nuclear issue and treat Pakistan and India on an equal footing in terms of nuclear assistance? There is no credibility either in Japan’s non-proliferation posturing or its concerns over nuclear safety vis-à-vis Pakistan - especially with its nuclear cooperation talks with India

The report, dated June 25, says Furlong's human intelligence collection program, known as "Information Operations Capstone," amounted to a "violation of executive orders" and Defense Department policy. The inquiry, drafted by the Pentagon's assistant secretary for intelligence oversight, Michael Decker, and initialed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, calls for further investigation by the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations. The dispute over the Capstone operation centers on the military's struggle over the past two years to ramp up intelligence gathering to support counterinsurgency. The strategy includes elements of nation-building, which requires more social, civil and economic data, as well as the tactical intelligence needed for targeting.Since it was shut down in May, the Furlong program has been replaced by a beefed-up structure of intelligence collection, along the lines of Flynn's blueprint, described in his critique. Flynn, who has been tapped for a top job working for the director of national intelligence, added new layers of collection and analysis, including a staff with field operatives who travel and function like media reporters. The Capstone contract was run by Lockheed Martin, and staffed by subcontractors including Strategic Influence Alternatives and International Media Ventures, a communications company based in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Can't find it online, but the print edition of the Sunday Guardian (Oct 17, 2010) has the headline: "Flood loss less than Pak claim: WB, ADB".

A joint assessment by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank on Thursday estimated the losses suffered by the floods at $9.7 billion, almost five times less than what had been claimed by the Pakistan Government.
