The explosion was heard several kilometres away.
No group claimed responsibility for bombing the school. Tribal elders condemned the destruction of the school.
Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Shuaib said action has been taken against the Karmzkhel Wazir tribe under a British-era law that holds an entire tribe responsible for crimes committed in their area.
The tribe's perks and privileges have been withdrawn after the bombing of the school, he said. The authorities have also stopped the salaries of tribesmen working in the Khasadar militia and various government departments, Shuaib said.

Point is that it is not logical to believe malnutrition will cause a revolution. If that was the case, there would have been a revolution in India a long time ago. The guy who killed Taseer was not malnourished, but was quite healthy AND motivated by ideology. From that perspective, one of the necessary conditions for revolution is to have a bunch of well fed people who have time on their hands. For this, per capita incomes in Pakistan have to rise and the Pakistan economy must do well.anupmisra wrote:Although out of topic, I must thank you, my 'glass-is-half-empty' poster friend for the bringing up this subject. The fact that 60% of Indians (equates to 700 miilion people) do not suffer from malnutrition is lost on you.

East Pakistan, November 1971:
East Pakistan, November 1971:
I thought India got directly involved only after Dec 3, 1971?????Jessore was already in the thick of a full-scale battle since early November. The brigade battle command post was functioning from a concrete bunker located in a thick clump of trees between the cantonment and the city itself. It took very little time to familiarise myself with the defensive layout from the map and orient myself with the battle situation. It was my job to accompany the brigade commander during his visits to the deployed units, forward areas and convey his orders in person or bring back battle information from the frontline where required. Indians were attacking incessantly and our brave but exhausted troops were beating back assault after assault by Indian tanks and infantry. They could bring in fresh reinforcements; our troops had had no respite since March that year yet we were holding on. We had no air-force to protect our skies. Indian aircraft, including their trainers, would bomb us at will for hours. Their bombers would drop 500 and 1,000-pound bombs looking for our command bunker. A 1,000-pound bomb is a terrifying weapon. It made a huge deafening blast and would dig out a large room size deep pit. At times even ground water would ooze out of the pit bottom. The ones that fell closer shook the concrete bunker like a tin can on a string. Our casualties were mounting and there was no replacement. Our stocks of weapons and ammunition could not be replenished and they were fast running out. For every dead or wounded soldier the front shrank that much or a gap appeared in the defences. We had to contend with Mukti ambushes and raids in our rear and the Indians forces in front. The double pressure could unnerve any army in the world in a matter of weeks but it was the indomitable grit of our soldiers and officers, despite dismal senior command performance, that we held fast and were a coherent fighting force even after a year of relentless attrition.

Regarding extra-judicial activities, with a judicial branch that is often tolerant of criminals acting in accordance with Islamic law — and Governor Taseer’s confessed assassin, Mumtaz Qadri, can fall into this category — how to deal with known terrorists and other state enemies is not a simple matter. That flies in the face of western values regarding human rights, even though the US does have drone and rendition programmes that could equally be questioned by the international community.....{equal-equal is always encessary when talking to Pakistanis }
Pakistani clerics have not been as fully throated in condemning the activities of terrorists in general and Pakistani extremists, and the Taliban in particular. It is up to the clerics to unmask and condemn how these villains are exploiting and defaming the Holy Quran in using it to justify terror and murder.

LAHORE: The Oxfam, an international aid agency, has warned that the crisis in Pakistan is far from over and could get worse, as millions of people belonging to the flood-hit areas are still in dire need of help.
In its report titled “Six Months into the Floods”, the Oxfam says that although the aid effort has reached millions, it has struggled to match the immense scale of human need. It may be mentioned here that the Pakistan government is due to stop emergency relief operations in most of the flood-affected areas from January 31.

This Yindoo scientist says Mother Indus gonna wash Poaks every year to cleanse them of sins)
Professor Martin Gibling of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, a river expert who has worked in the region, thinks that changes in the strength of the monsoon caused by climate change may be to blame.
He explained: "Although many factors are involved, monsoon intensity is especially sensitive to the surface temperature of the Indian Ocean. "During times of cooler climate, less moisture is picked up from the ocean, the monsoon weakens, and the Indus river flow is reduced."So, will global warming have the reverse effect, returning the Indus to the monster river of 6,000 years ago?"That is the million-dollar question", said Professor John Clague, from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada, an expert on the Asian monsoon. "There is huge uncertainty… and this is a matter of heated debate amongst scientists at present."However, Professor Rajiv Sinha, from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, who has had first hand experience of Asian river floods, takes a more strident position."What all the climate models predict is that the distribution of monsoon rains will become more uneven in the future," he told BBC News. "Total rainfall stays the same, but it comes in shorter more intense bursts."In August 2010, more than half of the normal monsoon rain fell in only one week. Typically it is spread over three months.Professor Sinha remarked: "Rivers just can't cope with all that water in such a short time. It was five times, maybe 10 times, more than normal."So, if the unusually intense 2010 monsoon is the shape of things to come - and that is uncertain - the future may hold more flood misery for the people of Pakistan.

June – SeptemberGuerrilla operations, which slackened during the training phase, picked up after August. Economic and military targets in Dhaka were attacked. The major success story was Operation Jackpot, in which naval commandos mined and blew up berthed ships in Chittagong on 16 August 1971. Pakistani reprisals claimed lives of thousands of civilians.[citation needed] The Indian army took over supplying the Mukti Bahini from the BSF. They organised six sectors for supplying the Bangladesh forces.

I feel that this might not be true in the strictest sense.
The Pakistanis are money hungry, special their rapacious feudals and powerful elite. This entire support for Kashmir is only a gambit. Of course now they are caught in the gambit themselves and are victims of the statements of the past.
India is already paying these buggers off. For example:
When the Pakistanis ask Dawood bhai for money to bail out their railways, dawood bhai probably has to ask permission from his shareholders in power in India. Dawood bhai's activities and investments in India surely has powerful shareholders in India whose reach probably extends very high in the echelons of power. Dawood bhai's money is Indian money, very likely to be with aggreement with his shareholders in India that is being spent for Pakistan - in return for what I don't know, maybe continued unhindered operations - Jaziya in other words.
I believe that Pakistan's takleef is only when India overtly in full media glare gives them money - like for flood relief, which is why they wanted that routed via the UN. In private their politicians and faujis are greedy pigs willing to sell off their country.

Did Headley show any signs of extremism?
I had the greatest time with my husband. He was never an extremist or a terrorist; he is just like any American, any human being.
David was an active and hard working businessman. He was good with money. He talked to me about some future projects and we had lots of things planned for the future. But I guess our destiny is what we both survive today.
David was so open minded, so nice, (he was) a free spirit, intelligent. We liked to share ideas, watch movies together and enjoy nice food in elite places. He was an honest man. I could write hundreds of pages on him alone. I'll say this; he was and still is to me a great and wonderful man with a unique personality...
From what I know, my husband is innocent. There is something else going on here, I don't get it. It is a part of an endgame and drama that I have nothing to do with.
Do you think Headley deserved the punishment he got?
I think Headley should get out of jail soon. My husband is innocent. But if there are things that I don't know, or if he was playing a role with me, then I still can't confirm it. But my husband, the man that I know, he is not at all a criminal, and he is innocent!

I just want them to understand that I'm not going to fulfill their desire and they better forget about me. Are they targeting me or is there another drama that I should wait for?

N weapons kept in the bunker can probably be brought out of the Main entrance in a trolley or a golf cart type vehicle, and driven to either the missiles on the Telars nearby or to the Runway Tarmac and loaded onto aircraft. The main entrance has a sloping tunnel that is visible while under construction.
There is a service entrance also visible right in the middle of the picture with a white colored path leading away in the 7 O'clock direction. This one possibly has a lift.
Numerous trees newly planted are also visible in the 8 O'clock position to hide the main bunker.
But why Kamra?
1. This is the site where Pakistan Manufactures components of both missiles and N weapons.
2. The place lies west of Islamabad and away from India.
The place is ~ 200-210 Kms away from several points across the LOC / IB in India and well within LACM Brahmos range.
The Talibs and AQAM have tried to breach the perimeter of this base several times in the past years to try and reach this place. This is wild wild west - taliban territory outside of the base.

From the editorial in DT
Lately, the Taliban have floated the idea of giving them a foothold in a neutral country, e.g. in Turkey, because they do not want to be controlled or influenced by Pakistan’s intelligence outfit ISI during the negotiations process.
What is alarming, though, is that the head honchos of the network seem to be losing control over the young hotheads, {this is to be always expected especially when Islamists are involved and more especially when the country is Afghanistan or Pakistan} which are defying the older generation. The recent news of the death of Taliban godfather Colonel Imam while he was in the custody of the Asian Tigers is an example of splinters within the Taliban. It is time for Pakistan too to take stock of the situation and review its own strategy.

Time on minorities in Pakistan
Most traditional days of mourning are now followed by fresh ones. Last September, as Shi'ites marched through Lahore's same streets to mark the Day of Ali, the Prophet's cousin, a triple suicide bombing ripped through the city, killing 31 worshippers and wounding more than 200. And just two days later, terror struck again, with over 43 Shi'ites slain amid an annual march in support of Palestinians in the southwest city of Quetta. A year ago, 32 people were brutally killed in Karachi on Ashura, the holiest day for Shi'ites — who are a minority in predominantly Sunni Pakistan. "Sadly, you can predict a terror attack on any of these days and you won't be wrong," says Talat Masood, a retired general turned security analyst.
The militants' anti-Shi'ite attacks are part of their broadening assault on all religious communities they deem to be heretics or apostates. In recent years, they have attacked Christians, Sikhs, members of the Ahmadi Muslim sect and even the Barelvi Sunni sect, whose adherents form the majority of Pakistani Muslims.

I would say, try thinning out the army from your border. Some of it has been done of course, but not enough. You need to convey the message that we believe that we have no intention of attacking you across the border, you have to inspire trust in Pakistan.
What is new here.

Thank gawd, the people at Time discovered that there are oppressed minorities in Pakistan beyond the Shias and Christians.
Someone finally mentioned the Hindus and Sikhs.
No doubt BRFites writing into the comments sections as a response to articles worldwide has made an impact.

^Admiral William J Fallon will give duffer gandhi a run for his money
Even if intelligence is received about movement of terrorists who is going to stop them?
Treat the patient birather, India is healthy but the pakistan mind is sick with paranoia, treat that and leave us alone, dont prescribe medicines to us
After the troops are removed who will check the infiltration of terrorists? The Indian government believes that the Pakistani army is also mixed up with these terrorists.
Even if this is true, how do you deal with it? Not by half a million men on the border! My experience is that the best way to deal with terrorists and insurgents is through human intelligence and information, by building trust and confidence with the people and exchanging that information in the right way. That would enable you to react in real time.

The Pakistanis are paranoid about India, as if it is just waiting for the whole thing to collapse the country and take them over. So how do you get rid of this paranoia? Not easy, India has to take small steps, show them it's not interested in a fight.

They might have several concrete ceilings on top to try and prevent a top attack.
I wonder how deep it is? The sloping tunnel should have a certain incline, and going by its length it might be possible to know how deep it goes.
This is one heck of a target!
My google earth is giving me problems, but I've got some really good pictures of Sargodha with some analysis. Will post ASAP.

I wonder when the administration will wake up and realize that Pakistan has been in a perpetul cold war with India, it has tried everything thing under its control to destabalize India. From fake currency, urban terrorism, false propoganda, coersive diplomacy, direct support for other insurgencies etc etc etc.
I paitently wait for the day when a Govt. and a nation will wake up and take this "Cold War" back to TSP, put our might behind this fight and let them know that if they want ot be firends then India can be a reliable friend but if you continue with these petty games then we can destabalize you 100 times more with the resources and clout on our hand and no "allies" or "brothes" and going to come for help.
