Admission of state sponsored terrorism by Pakistani authorities

see this Der Spigel Interview where Musharraf admits to that.

On 7th Nov in TimesNow Channel, Tasneem Noorani, a former Secretary of the Pakistani Interior Ministry, openly said that.

Kiyani called the Haqqanis as strategic assets.

In Dec. 2008, President Zardari himself admitted to ISI helping LeT. He said,"The links between the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency and the LeT were developed in the old days when dictators used to run the country. After the 9/11 terror attacks in the US, things have changed to a great extent"

In an address to bureaucrats in July 2009, President Zardari said: "Militants and extremists were deliberately created and nurtured as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives. Let us be truthful to ourselves and make a candid admission of the realities. The terrorists of today were the heroes of yesteryears until 9/11 occurred and they began to haunt us as well"

In Nov. 2009, Prime Minister Gilani admitted to the support for terrorism by Musharraf as "running with the hares and hunting with the hounds".

When Bush warned the Pakistanis in August 2008 of their support to Al Qaeda, Afrasiab Khattak, President of Awami National Party (ANP) said this: "The question is why it has taken the Americans so long to see what the ISI is doing. We’ve been telling them for years but they wouldn’t buy it.". See here.

In an interview to the BBC as far back as on Feb. 13, 1994, Benazir Bhutto admitted how she handed over to Rajiv Gandhi the complete list of Sikh activists colluding with the ISI in terrorism in the Punjab. Later, Nawaz Sharif described this interview as a faux pas.

Apart from these, of course, numerous Pakistani commentators, analysts, and editors have openly admitted to terror as a state policy.

I don't think Indian netas lust after the Swedish Nobel and the 1 million dollar prize anymore.

Just being an Indian Neta gets more respect these days. Just see the fawning from the gora desh's governments everytime some Indian minister lands on their shores.
And 1 million dollars is small change compared to the money our netas make these days.

Everyone knows that the Indians are developing rapidly, we are the blue eyed boyz these days. (Or atleast our earstwhile noble prize aspiring netas are)

Nobel prize is so passe' these days from the dizzying heights of Raisina Hills.

As we all know one of the main reasons Pakistan finds itself in the gutter is because of its insane obsession over neighbor's property i.e Kashmir. As long as it wants Kashmir (1000 yrs?) it will never be able to focus on nation building. More obsession = more money it spends on military and neglects the economy. So, by talking to Pakistan to "resolve all outstanding issues", is India giving a false hope for Pakistan that it will one day get Kashmir and thereby pushing Pakistan further deep into the gutter?
This is the result of me thinking hard to find a reason for India wanting to talk to TSP.

Statuary Warning, Watch only when you are bored.

In a nutshell, Madam Jalebi defending Paki courts and support for execution of Raymond Davis. On the other hand, some other guys trying to be pragmatic and suggesting there is a clause of giving compensation and escape from capital punishment for these murders. Unkil should cough up more, give more aid etc..
Most hilarious is when Madam Jalebi tried to an == with Raymond Davis and Taseer slayer Qadri and if Davis is released then Qadri should also be then one speaker said that if she solicit for mullas then in the uncovered way she is sitting in studio with gair mards, this will also be Un-Islamic. Truly hilarious... Benis material.

Pakistani troops capture would-be suicide bomber, handlers
PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Pakistani security forces on Saturday captured a would-be suicide bomber and five handlers while another blew himself up in a restive northwestern town, the military said.

"One suicide bomber blew himself up when encircled by security forces while another was arrested before he could detonate his explosives during a search operation in Batkhela town," the military said in a statement.

"One soldier got injured during the exchange of fire with militants," it said, adding that troops also arrested five handlers of the bomber.

Local administration official Javaid Khan Marwat confirmed the incident in Batkhela, 45 kilometres (28 miles) southwest of Mingora, the capital of Swat.

The picturesque Swat valley slipped out of government control after a radical cleric led an uprising in July 2007, beheading opponents, burning schools and fighting to enforce a harsh brand of Islamic law.

Pakistan launched a blistering air and ground offensive in the valley after militants marched out of Swat and advanced to within 100 kilometres (60 miles) of the capital Islamabad in April 2009.

After heavy fighting that displaced an estimated two million people, the military declared the region back under army control last summer and tentative efforts have begun to kick-start development and revive the local economy.

But sporadic outbreaks of violence continue in the region.

US view of Pakistan, Afghanistan at new low
(AFP) – 17 hours ago

WASHINGTON — US public perceptions of Pakistan and Afghanistan have sunk to new lows as the war campaign against Islamic extremism approaches its 10th year, a poll said Friday.

Some 14 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Afghanistan and 82 percent hold a negative review, the Gallup poll said. For Pakistan, 18 percent saw the country favorably and 76 percent viewed it unfavorably.

The views were the most negative since Gallup began asking the question. Opinion about the two nations peaked in 2005, when upwards of 40 percent of Americans saw both Afghanistan and Pakistan in a positive light. ……………………..

Talk is cheap. It gives good international press to India and costs India very little (oh, it does cause heartburn in the hyperpatriots). It yields Pakistan nothing.

The Pakistani elite mentality of entitlement is not going away anytime. Major has highlighted it very neatly:
http://majorlyprofound.wordpress.com/20 ... our-unkil/
There are no substantial negotiations possible with such a people, in the sense of arriving at settlements that will be honored. Talks are a tamasha, and should be viewed as such. You should understand this as MMS restarting the circus, nothing more.

400% speculation onlee. That gentleman quit because his jewels were being squeezed from both sides. With unerring timing, SMQ issues some anti-India statement or the other a day or two before talks are to being -- while being quiet the whole of 6 months prior. Does anyone remember "Indian blinked first not us" and "Indian diplomats on telephone" quotes?

While I am not vouching for his character, and idiot who is a FM knows that doing such things will make him ineffective in his job. You might be a jihadi, but still want the talks to go fine to show to the world equal==equal.

Same thing about US aid meetings and his statements afterwards. Me thinks that his boss (Ashphuck -- it is widely acknowledged that Ashphuck runs the foreign policy) squeezes him in one way and the foreign countries from the other.

For all his bravado, the gentleman probably thought that it is best to go home and relax.

For all the "austerity measures" by shrinking cabinet size, what escapes my head is the fact that a new parliament lodge (with 500 servants quarters) worth many billions of (paki) rupees was also approved. Good austerity move this!

This is the result of me thinking hard to find a reason for India wanting to talk to TSP.
It depends on what you mean by "finds itself in the gutter". It bears no repitition that TSP's elixir is the fact that it holds India's b@lls on a tight leash. TSP has nukes that can annhilate India, and it has 3.5 on its sides, as it does many a 5th coliumnists from India including from the ruling elite in Delhi. A country the size of India should at the very least be able to ignore TSP (if TSP was really in the gutter), but TSP has made the Indian behemoth swallow its ego and sit down and talk.

As for TSP getting Kashmir, who knows. It all depends on what kind of nation India wants to be in the coming years. If the "green generation" continues to believe that slum dog Oscar dog bones are the ultimate nirvana, then one be rest assured, that all that TSP and its 3.5 need to do is to stoke this ego, and Kashmir could very well be TSP's. If you think the scenario I painted based on the "green generation" following in the footsteps of Egypt is complete fiction, think again. See what Mehbooba Mufti has to say:

“After 9/11 there was a transition in Kashmir from bullet to ballot but unfortunately central leadership ignored that transition. That is the reason what we witnessed in Kashmir in the last three years,” she said.
Pakistan has nt stopped and has still continued in the path of Taliban and bullet. So how can things change in Kashmir. She is being not factual. Until Pak changes nothing changes for India.

Here in this video from last year, he is wailing and railing at Prof. Walter Mead. All because Prof. Mead says that there is no equal-equal anymore for the Pakis with India.

Guys, this is not directly related to TSP, but remember this charlatan Frank Wisner was former ambassador to India. And in one "South Asia" gathering in NYC, he was extoling the virtues of India kissing up to TSP, and when I challenged one of his fawning chelas, Salman Haider as being a mouthpiece for terrorist Mush, I got kicked out.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/13/world ... omacy.html

With restive crowds of young Egyptians demanding President Hosni Mubarak’s immediate resignation, Frank G. Wisner, Mr. Obama’s envoy to Cairo, had just told a Munich conference that Mr. Mubarak was indispensable to Egypt’s democratic transition .

Mr. Obama was furious, and it did not help that his secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mr. Wisner’s key backer, was publicly warning that any credible transition would take time — even as Mr. Obama was demanding that change in Egypt begin right away.
Translate this to the "South Asian" context and what does it tell you:

1) TSPA is crucial and indispensable to USA's gameplan for the region
2) SDREs' realizing their potential will need time, i.e., TSP has to be kept happy first.

Heard a lil birdie say that Shah Mahmood Qureshi sending a letter to UN Secretary general strongly protesting the UN commissions "finger pointing" at Pakistan's security and intelligence establishment in BB's murder case is ultimately what did him in. It didnt have the party's support and was send at the behest of the Khakhis.

Raymond Davis was just a convenient excuse to axe him.

A must see video. India has already won. This Pakistani's mind space is totally dominated by India. The fear and humiliation are patent-he realises the great equaliser-the US-is lost to Pakistan, he is fearful of what will come after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, knowing that there will be hell to pay for America's losing.

Some observations-

A satisfying film, I lost count of the word 'India' after Mallick had used the word for the fortieth time.
Mallick is accusatory to the point of impudence.
Mead seems frightened more than placatory.

If people like Mead do make policy, Mallick shot himself in the foot.

Isloo is so full of herrows.

One herrow is going to be a much bigger herrow in the days to come, now that he is claiming virtue out of his musharraf being fired:
ISLAMABAD: Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has ruled out providing the kind of immunity to Raymond Davis which US called for, adding that the suspect is not a diplomat in Pakistan, Geo News reported.

Talking to Jang Group’s senior journalist, Ansar Abbasi, Qureshi said that Raymond Davis was not a US diplomat according to Pakistan’s official record as Foreign Ministry has searched out complete documents, dismissing likelihood of immunity for suspect which US demanded from Pakistan.

Here is a prediction -- as the coming days unfold, there will increasingly be no difference whatsoever in the utterings and jumma bayaans between a Shah Mehmood Qureshi and a Hafez Muhammad Sayed of the LeT. In a sense, Qureshi has been liberated, and he now has a glorious career path awaiting him -- that of a US baiting Hamid Gul clone. Fun fun fun.

Here is a second herrow. And also an idiot. He says he is full of virtue, unlike a certain Raymond Davis:

I wouldn’t have sought immunity: Bashir
http://thenews.com.pk/NewsDetail.aspx?ID=11057
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir Saturday said if he had committed an act similar to that of Raymond Davis, he would not have sought immunity,...he said a person indulging in criminal activity deliberately should not seek immunity or protection.

... it is prerogative of the court to decide about the matter.
In one sentence, he completely prejudges the case by saying that Davis in fact indulged in criminal activity, and that too deliberately. In the next, he says that the jehadi Punjabi court will make, in the future, the final determination as to what really happened.

More to the point, it would be moot for Bashir to seek immunity were he in a situation like Davis because Bashir's musharraf would be riddled with ISI bullets before his brain would even begin to start spelling i m m u n i t y.

I wonder what kind of visa Raymond Davis was issued, to enter and work in Pakistan.

Shabana, Akhtar excited on their visit to Pakistan

Indian film star of international fame and veteran peace activist Shabana Azmi and her spouse Javed Akhtar have expressed great joy and excitement on their visit to Pakistan to participate in the centennial celebrations of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

On their arrival in the country through Wagah border on Friday, a visibly excited and emotionally moved Shabana Azmi told the media that she was very happy to be in Pakistan on the occasion since Faiz Ahmed Faiz was not only her favourite poet but he was like elder brother of her father (Kaifi Azmi). She said it was a very emotional moment for her. Javed Akhtar said Faiz Ahmed Faiz was equally popular in Pakistan and India.

US Consulate delivers Davis menu {Is pork on the menu } :)
LAHORE – Knowing his masters have thrown full weight behind him, Raymond Davis, the US national who killed two Pakistanis, spent a relaxed first day in the Kot Lakhpat Jail, meeting senior American officials and enjoying the protocol befitting a president, it is learnt.

Sources said it was business as usual for the detained US undercover operative. Davis was at liberty to interact with the outside world on the internet and the phone amidst maximum security. “US Consulate officials in four vehicles, including a black Range Rover and a white Corona, visited him on Saturday at intervals,” sources added.

The first US Consulate vehicle arrived early Saturday and served Davis sumptuous breakfast, sources said. “A few other officials in the white Corona arrived around lunch time, at 1:15pm. A third vehicle arrived at teatime while some senior officials of the US Consulate in Black Range Rover came to deliver him dinner,” sources added.

Sources said the jail gate remained shut all day long, and was only opened for the US vehicles or the IG and the DIG Prison. “Every vehicle of the US Consulate made it to the security wall around Davis’ room without any search,” sources added. DIG Prison Shahid Saleem Baig and Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail Mian Mushtaq Awan accompanied the fourth US vehicle arriving after nightfall, officials revealed requesting not to be named.
