Now we are the 21st century coolies!
This is a good point. Think about this ....the sherpas are not merely 'guides' showing them where to go. They are hired to carry loads/supplies up and down the mountain, making several trips between each camp.surinder wrote:In the reports and documentaries on Everest, and what is striking is that none of them talk of the contributions of the Sherpas who make the expeditions of the "brave" "daring of these so-called climbers really happen. It takes dozens of Sherpas to enable each of this climbers to scale the peaks. Talk about complete denial of others. These visitors from the West have little regard for the local traditions of worshipping and their spiritual approach to the mountains.

The red non-functional kerchief in the upper coat pocket says it all - a lowly member of the brown sahab elite dissing his masters - burra sahebs. 'nough said. What a conceited fellow and what a set of conceited masters. kuCH nahIn hOga in lOgOn se.

E.g. if there are two criminals, let us say brutal mass killers, and one listens to the criticism for 5 seconds and another one does not. Is this sufficient to heap praise and raise a distinction between the two? Are other perpetrators of mass genocide lot as good listeners?
Also, this is an audience that is University based. Try putting these to the UK Govt. and see if you get listened to? UK government has given curt one-line answers to Indian requests to return our cultural loot--they actually said, since we possess it, it is ours ... by the right of possessing it. No mention if nazis could have used the same argument.
Also, they understand that there is a strategic benefit to letting people say these things. Arabs and centrail asians did not not learn that lesson in PR. Don't fall for this trick.

The father of the nation MKG and first iconic PM of India actually recruited the troops for them; they got arranged for one million Indians to fight someone else, their slave masters war and got 100,000 killed. Did they even talk about the British-induced famines in India? Considering that, ST has done outstanding.
