Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Its astounding how come Pakis have done zilch in space technology. Even Iran is making some efforts.

Congratulations ISRO for the successful launch ..
Hate DD for the ****** up quality cameras and resultant videos ... There is no difference in video quality between PSLV launches of the 90s and current launches !
They are using the same bhangaar camera in 2015 !!

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Let us forget about useless cameras. Great achievement by our people. Really proud.
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congrats ISRO!, they are doing good work on the Mars images, that kind of effort should cover the launches as well.

A Humble Request. Let us desist from sullying the vision, determination, hard work & continuing efforts put in by the Indian space technologists, the allied scientific & engineering community - by quoting in these threads any aspect of the implied useless country.sudhan wrote:Paarfaarmance Naarmal!

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Yah, congratulations big time to ISRO, my "scepticism" was contrived and it worked!
It's disgusting how NDTV has all kinds of time for Paki twits like Aziz and whoever, none of whom have anything uplifting or progressive or enlightening to say, only badmouthing India.
It must be the difficulty in quickly manufacturing components and systems for the GSLV, that is allowing only one launch per year presently. One of the spokesmen did hint at quicker turnarounds in the coming years. It will be amazing when we see 4 GSLV's and 4 PSLV's go up in one year. It's just a question of when, not whether.

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Well said, one feels dirty and diminished when India, particularly achievements like its space programme, are mentioned alongside that country. Even the Agni-5 missile test of April/2012 was sought by the "Economist" magazine, to be related to some Paki missile tested a few days later. Which is absolutely ridiculous.SaraLax wrote:A Humble Request. ISRO's site is working again, obviously mentions the successful launch.

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congratulations ISRO. This is a great day for India. Desi cryo is operational. Cheers.
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congrats ISRO
Having a 29 hour count down itself was surprising and it showed the confidence the org had on the launcher. Hopefully GSLV gets few launches since it is getting squeezed between PSLV and LVM3

Congratulations to ISRO!
Very disappointed this launch wasn't covered more extensively by the media. If anything, the launch and given the payload deserved more attention. At least someone like Poonam Pandey should have done a nanga naach in public!
The US sanctions and faulty Russian cryo engines only delayed India, but could not keep India back from her destiny in space. The launch budget of ISRO needs to be increased and we need to see a GSLV and PSLV launch every other month working their way up to be the proven work horses that they are.

The best news to start the day with! Congrats ISRO.

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Varoon saar, ISRO could very well spinoff PSLV to private companies, just how NASA is giving out contracts to SpaceX. ISRO can focus only on GSLV Mk2/Mk3 heavy lift launches. This could be a huge cash cow.Varoon Shekhar wrote: It must be the difficulty in quickly manufacturing components and systems for the GSLV, that is allowing only one launch per year presently. One of the spokesmen did hint at quicker turnarounds in the coming years. While I dont want to continue the ranting ad nauseum, it still must be said.
All launches of ISRO are historic .. And must get due attention from govt. Heck we have an "Information and broadcasting" ministry !!
This is one area where we need to get TFTA asap.

Yeah , we need 10T class launchers as next stage.dhiraj wrote:Damn.. GSLV going PSLV way. Reliable and boring launch.

Historic launch, another milestone crossed for ISRO! Was looking forward to this launch..simply awesome!
JEM ji, to be fair NDTV did show it live with credits to DD. Vishnu Som was reporting on it.

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Watched this video.
And watched the reactions of the staff there. The anxious moments before CUS is palpable. Even as it runs, people are tensed. But you see an anxious smile here and the typical Indian nod there with some kind of unspoken acknowledgement that they cracked it this time.
Well done ISRO.

Next next CE60.

No the nation has more important things that were being covered. A TV magnate's wife murdered her daughter who she used to claim was her sister. TV personalities are VVIPs and their lives count for more than this rocketry.Mort Walker wrote:Congratulations to ISRO!

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congrats ISRO!! GSLV achieving the consistency of the PSLV is what we need. Then on to even greater heights
By the way, whats next for GSLV-Mk2? Or will ISRO concentrate on Mk3 now and this was the last launch for Mk2?

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
There will be another PSLV launch this year but what about GSLV-III.
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congrats ISRO! These will never grow boring. Fantastic effort! I wish HAL would be more like ISRO - staying at the forefront of tech with local development. To all the pimps (of foreign hardware) on BRF that make a mockery of LCA, Arjun, and so on, please note the accomplishments of ISRO.
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
GSLV III, launch as of now is scheduled in Q4 of 2016
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
They are called #mediapimps for a reason.JE Menon wrote:No report on TimesNow & NDTV yet!!! Not even a ticker that I could see.
A quick post:
1. This is enormous implication. Even US does not have this stage'd combustion cryo engine.
2. This engine needs to be scaled up.
3. GSLV-mkII's can be commercialized after another successful launch.
4. Once GSLV-mkIII's GG engines come online., India/ISRO will have both the tech in hand and can concentrate on restartable cryo engines.

To what payload weight can this particular engine be used before we have to use more powerful derivative?

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Any status on the GSAT-6? Has it been placed in position and has the 6m antenna unfurled?
Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
Congrats ISRO! Can't wait for MKIII. I'm also waiting for good news about the 6m antenna deployment.
Arrgh, missed the live telecast again. Youtube vids will do. I wish they used proper HD cameras.

Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion
ISRO needs to develop satellites which can be refuelled.
Then we can use the proven PSLV or even a resuable vehicle
to go refuel the sats. For this we need to develop docking technology
which will be needed anyway for manned flights, space station and so on.
