Wish you all Happy Deepawali

Dheepavali shubha-akankshalu to one and all. :D

Just imagine a world without electricity. The nights...the complete darkness...the shadows...one realizes the power of darkness. And then, one comes to appreciate the light...whether it be Sun, Moon or Fire.

The light(Jyothi) represents Knowledge(Gyanam) and also the Nirguna Brahman.

Thamaso ma jyothirgamaya...

Happy Deepavali to everyone!

Just to give perspective to those who do not know:
WHY KERALA DOES NOT CELEBRATE DIWALI OR DEEPAWALI -- CAPT AJIT VADAKAYIL

DIWALI OR DEEPAWALI MARKS THE VICTORY OF GODS , OR DEFEAT OF KING MAHABALI .

DIWALI IS CELEBRATED BY THE WHOLE OF INDIA-- EXCEPT KERALA.

Not sure of not celebrating as an issue. My Malayaalee friends do celebrate Dipaawalee just as we do.

In Kerala Deepavali is celebrated to commemorate Krishna defeating Narakasura. An oil bath is a compulsory ritual for that day. :-) There is no Rama connection with the event. This is true mostly for central and north kerala.

Yeah, that Diwali/Mahabali connection is entirely made up by that blogger. It is celebrated all over Kerala.

Mahabali connection is way off the mark.
