As per DRDO Chief speaking to Zee news.. It covered more than 1000 Km, 15 way points and total flight time was 1 Hr 10 Minutes.

The slow arching trajectory at launch is quite Tomahawk-like. Compare to Brahmos and Shaurya, which have an absolute violent launching sequence with nose cap jettisoning and all that.

So if it goes 1.5 machs for 300 km but still manages 1050 km in 70 minutes then that means besides the waypoints they tried many more things (altitude, velocity) and all of it worked perfect.

I think it just flies like the tomahawk around 900kmph. the initial 300km in 10 min is wrong.
supersonic would burn up a lot more fuel and need a stronger airframe.

now its all down to onboard guidance systems, warheads (EMP is highly desirable to fry SAM sites) and navigation(IRNSS). loitering will need a library of images and IIR sensor.

the air launched variant will likely be smaller with a range of say 600km by reducing the fuel tank and it wont need the booster section also.....hence down from 25ft to 15ft.

the sea launched variant is the tricky aspect. ... it will be forced by gas generator(VL) or water pressure(TT) from sub and then ignite solid booster. but I fear the current length of around 25ft is too long for TT rooms since HWT max out around 18ft long ..

At the same time, the Turbo Prop engine kicked off and provided thrust to the missile which began cruising at 0.7 Mach at an altitude of 4.8 km.

I'm seeing a lot of hypermoronic turbo crap in the media. When it comes to defence reporting the quality of most media persons ranks somewhere between buffoon and imbecile. The fault must lie with the editors who are themselves unable to figure out the crap being dished out to an increasingly aware bunch of young Indians.

No.. 1000 km / 70 mins is approximately 230 m/s. since the missile travels quite close to the GL, the speed of sound can be taken as 330 m/s.
Therefore, the average speed of the missile for that 1000 km track is Mach 0.72.

^^^ Good Job that from our scientists. I never thought missile launch will get such coverage (even if incorrect but almost real time). The number of 'versions of truth' with waypoints, ranges, time, 'turboxxx' (turboprop - good God!) is an interesting feature of Nirbhay.

I am assuming - cold start could be planned around such platforms (assuming is the operative word here).

Extremely unlikely - the wings are too straight. And we haven't heard about variable sweep ...

What is the wight limit of warhead in Nirbhay? I have checked but could not find any material. If it is nuclear capable then is it 500kg? 1 TN missile wight and 500kg warhead at 1000km range and all targeting, searching etc capacity. So thing is not adding up with my calculations.

Russian 533mm torpedo & TT are longer than Western 533mm torpedo & TT. The length indicated roughly corresponds to the Russian dimensions.
