The Express Tribune > Pakistan > Sindh
‘Pakistan’s economy will collapse in the next 10 years’

KARACHI:
Education is linked with economic prosperity but the education sector in Sindh is underperforming despite the fact that Rs700 million of the province’s annual development budget has been allocated to the education sector, said Education Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar.
“Pakistan’s economy is going to collapse like that of Greece’s in the next 10 years,” he warned. Dahar was addressing the inauguration ceremony of a conference, titled ‘International Conference on Transforming Economic Development: Policies and Strategies’, organised by the Applied Economics Research Centre (AERC) at the ICCBS, Karachi University on Tuesday. “Pakistan has been divided into haves and have-nots classes,” he said.

first, education for young impressionable minds is focused on Isamayat and Pakistan Ideology ( whatever it means) ; in this context, it will definitely collapse like the Greek economy; secondly, everything may look good on paper (e.g. new schools may in fact be "ghost (not gosht !) schools ).
Pakistan is facing enormous challenges such as illiteracy, poverty, inequalities, corruption, energy and governance issues that have had a direct negative impact on the economic development and growth of the country, ( the so-called 18 Billion Dollar loss due to "fight against terrorism") pointed out.
Tension with India is extremely harmful for us, said Pakistan Institute of Development Economics vice-chancellor Dr Asad Zaman. “Pakistan needs to rethink and reconfigure trading patterns; self-sufficiency is the need of the hour,” said Zaman. :((

Pakistan is definitely self sufficient in "Terrorism", so much so that it has "almost perfected" the art and science of exporting the same to all four corners of the world; unfortunately import of this toxic item is banned by all countries, but is still being "clandestinely " exported with good economic benefits to the Pakistani nation

CRamS Ji :

Thank you for reply. My sentiments entirely.
CRamS wrote:No disrespect to you, nor am I trying to be argumentative, but this is a very distorted reading of TSP. No, TSP, I mean the RAPE who deal with west and India, are not the rabid Saudi Arabia type mullochracy in that they would have a problem with women in power etc. In fact, they themselves have not done very badly, they can claim equal equal in terms of women in power given their legacy of Benzir, from hosting Sheerry Rehman to Hina Rabbai type RAPE women etc, Also, there will be none to minor H&D loss to TSP on account of Nikki haley simply because there will be very little attention paid to "South Asia" by Trump IMO, and if there is, it will be equal equal and Nikki will only be too happy to play that role. So TSP won't lose any sleep over her appointment.

For India, the challenge is to circumvent TSP's seemingly modern outlook and yet be able to portray it as a India-specific terrorist abomination that it is: ruled by a bunch of megalomaniac RAPE rulers who belive they are the righful leaders of the subcontinent and want to undo India, who lie through their teeth, use pigLeTs as an instrument of state policy against India, abuse human rights of Balchis and other minorities etc. Problem is that none of these demoniacal characteristics of TSP have any impact on the white west, while the above traits you take note of that will attract the negative attention of the that west are not TSP's Achilles heel. So India is up against a stiff challenge, but we must lose sight of the real TSP.

However, I have the following "amended quote":

"The fault, dear CRamS Ji, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings."

It is frustrating, to say the least, watching the MSA Ilk along with the other - shall we say Luytenites, Wagah Kandle Kissers - continuously berate Modi by advocating an "Uninterrupted and Uninterruptible Insertion of Cwapistani Istiqbal" into his - MSA's - Istiqlal.

You will find Hundred nay Thousands of Indian Hindus following the MSA Ilk. However is there One Cwapistani Muslim who wants Cwapistan to accept India's Stance on Kashmir as well as to stop perpetrating Terrorism in India? No. There, you have the answer.

Now to the Indian Hindus in USA, UK and other Foreign Lands : The Hindus have a saying Ganga Gaye Baney Ganga Ram, Jamuna Gaye Baney Jamuna Das! These Bhai and behen Loog fully adopt their new Country.

However the the Muslims who settle, say in the USA or for that any other Foreign Land, are Muslims First, then Cwapistani and Finally US Americans or other who have adopted the Nationality of their Host Countries. After all Islam is a Nation.

The Hindus merge into their adopted Land - Not the Muslims. This is not a rant, but, my observations in the various Continents I have visited for Business.

May be if Modi has a "Second Term" and say another Ten Years preferably more of Modi-like Administrations then we have a chance to of coming out of this quagmire created by Nehruvian Thought and Actions.

I apologize to the Mods for this possible Rant.
-----End Rant-----

The purpose of this "heads up" warning is to blackmail rest of the rich, civilized world. Ministerji is alerting the rest of the world that the paki economy will collapse in ten years and they have ten years to pay up. Message is "do you want unwashed, uneducated, child molesters to illegally migrate to your part of the world?"

Shameless!! Akin to negotiating with a gun pointed to your own head. Pakis are good and very experienced at this.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan- November 7, 2016

Postby Peregrine » 24 Nov 2016 05:59

The Sharexit

No body knows what transpired behind the scenes until November 21, when the ISPR officially gave away General Raheel Sharif’s address to a gathering of Army and Rangers personnel as a “farewell call.”This ended the suspense around the General’s future. All this ensured despite his announcement back in January in which he had declared not to seek any extension. With General Sharif’s honourable exit, Pakistan achieves another milestone; within eight years, full democratic transition and a smooth security leadership transition.

General Sharif appeared as an untiring soldier switching between the GHQ, visits to border and trouble spots such as Karachi and Quetta. He seemed to have taken the December 16, 2015 attack on the Army Public School as a personal tragedy and an institutional challenge. The National Action Plan and his rigorous perusal of national and provincial apex committees stemmed from his resolve to take on terrorists disguised as Islamists. He built on the string of operations — Bajaur in August 2007, Swat and South Waziristan (May/October 2009 respectively), under General Kayani. The latter turned the Pakistan Army into a hardened counter-terror and counter-insurgency force, while General Sharif took this operational capability to new levels with the Operation Zarb-e-Azb. This won him appreciation all over the globe. In this perusal, though, the General at times intruded into the foreign affairs domain, causing discomfort within the civilian power corridors. This overstepping often flowed from indecision or inaction by the civilians when it came to dealing with challenges on the eastern and western borders and provided reasons for discord with the civilian leadership.

Largely, the General’s departure is socio-politically significant. Firstly, an uncontroversial change of the COAS-baton, underscores the growing maturity of the Pakistani society with all stakeholders exercising restraint and mindful of the hazards of unilateral decision-making. National and regional circumstances have enforced an undesired “cohabitation” on both the military and the civilian leadership ever since Asif Ali Zardari’s elevation to the presidential position in 2008.

Secondly, the General’s departure also shatters another myth — real or perceived — that Washington determines the top civilian and military leadership in Pakistan. Bruce Riedel, former CIA officer and senior advisor to four US presidents, for instance, wrote in his book Deadly Embrace: …Washington worked behind the scenes to secure an extension in the tour of duty of chief of army staff Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, which was due to expire in mid 2010. The Gillani government, which had its own reasons for keeping Kayani in office, gave him an unprecedented three-year extension.” This time around the US establishment was busy in elections and thus inactive on Afghanistan. Should one assume that there was no one in Washington to engage the Pakistanis as to whether the incumbent should be persuaded to stay or who should be the next COAS? Thirdly, General Sharif’s exit may ease off pressures that had hamstrung the government, yet it resonates an unambiguous message to the political leadership; individuals don’t matter for institutions. It is their collective wisdom, professionalism and commitment that keeps the institutions evolving. The system keeps throwing up leadership through the consultative process that is known as the Corps/Formation commanders’ conference. Fourthly, General Sharif’s conduct offers some soul-searching for the civilian leadership; rather than scheming and intriguing, let us focus on the job that the voters and the institutions place on you.

Lastly, if Chinese officials familiar with the military were any indicator, Beijing considered General Sharif and the army as the guarantors for the CPEC. General Sharif could have used this trust for personal gains. But he preferred national over personal interests — unlike the stories surrounding lucrative deals being cut and awarded to the kith and kin of the civilian rulers.

Richard Burton around 1850 in his Source of the Nile remarks that only Hindus and the English imported food into Africa.

Just met a Southie under 30 born in the West and a professional, strict vegetarian. There is an atavistic strain in the race much like the Jews. It may be a source of much strength.

Pakistan warns against using water for coercion

NEW YORK: A top Pakistani diplomat has called on the world community to ensure that international agreements on waterways such as the 1960 World Bank brokered Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan were not undermined through unilateral or coercive measures.“Access to water is a fundamental right that must be protected at all times,” Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan`s permanent representative to the UN told the Security Council while warning against any use of water as an instrument of coercion and war.Speaking in a debate on Water Peace and Security, Ambassador Lodhi noted that Secretary General Ban Ki moon had in his opening address also cited the 56-year old treaty which regulates the flow of six rivers between India and Pakistan as an example of positive cooperation. She said we will respect and protect our existing understandings and build where they are yet to be reached. Her remarks were obviously aimed at India which threatened to block water supplies to Pakistan after militants attacked in Uri sector of the Indian occupied Kashmir in September. While the Indo-Pak treaty was a model of what can be achieved through bilateral agreements, the Pakistani envoy said it was equally a good case study of what could go wrong if such pacts were not honoured or threatened by one of the state parties to be abrogated altogether. The international community must remain vigilant to any sign of unwillingness to maintain cooperation and be willing act to avert any conflict. As regards member states ability to cooperate in water sharing, Ambassador Lodhi said there were several international institutions capable of address the technical or financial needs for developing and sustaining cooperation. However, she said the only international body that can enhance member states political ability to cooperate was the Security Council.
“It is the Security Council’s responsibility to resolve international conflicts and disputes especially longstanding prolonged conflicts in particular in Asia and Africa,” the Pakistani envoy said.Unburdened by conflicts of the past new challenges can then be addressed cooperatively and comprehensively.Reaffirming Pakistan`s commitment to maintaining cooperation in the face of water scarcity, Ambassador Lodhi said Pakistan will not allow this challenge to put international peace and security at risk.

In the famous BRF bag-e-hag contest, it seems that this is my chance to win against some forum veterans...

Our ol' darlin' Shrilleen is, as always, obsessed with pricks, but considering her width and size these days, she laments that it all feels like pinpricks.

In fact, she reports that the one singular prick-e-missile that comforts her these days, the one thing that makes her warm and hot, rather than start and stay cold, goes by the name of Nasr.

Not mere pinpricks
https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/167250 ... -pinpricks
After all, the Cold Start Doctrine went into cold storage after Pakistan developed the Nasr missile.
...
The firing along the LoC and WB, the deliberate intrusion by an Indian submarine into Pakistani waters, the spy drones – all these actions together show a new Indian military strategy in the making within the framework of a nuclear First Use strategic doctrine – all to overcome the checkmating of Cold Start by Pakistan’s Nasr missile.

Ooh, someone is getting some hefty kickbacks. The price of a single Mercedes S600L is around the $170k range and a Mercedes-Maybach S600 is about $190k, these guys are asking a heck of a lot more. Only the BMW-X5 quote seems to be reasonable.

When I was working is a German electrical company, I had to calculate price for equipment to different countries. For third world countries, there was an item called NA, it meant (Nutzliche Ausgaben) or useful expenditures, for India it was 5%, more for some countries and less for others. Because it increased the price in a competitive market, I asked what is this NA that I have to add on? The short reply was baksheesh. Diamler Benz too has kept up the practice to providing baksheesh to the Pak jernail's and kernail's retirement fund. As it is illegal in European law, Dewan Motors or Shahnawaz Motors will take it as commission and pass it on. All done in a brotherly spirit of khaao and khaane do.

Pakistani air force chief warns India against full-scale war

Why do they get into this corner.
They could have avoided Pathankot attack. They could have avoided the Uri attack

Why do they need to send terrorists into India.

Now they have to come up with this statement when they could have avoided it.

Not mere pinpricks

Looks like the Pak elite have woken up
Will they do regime change. Need to keep a watch

On August 22, 2006, in a speech at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, the then Indian air chief declared that India would have to “forget geographical boundaries to protect its interests outside its boundaries”. This development was in line with the post-9/11 US pre-emptive doctrine and the US Nuclear Posture Review, whereby the US began to rationalise the military viability of nuclear weapons, even against certain non-nuclear states that may possess other weapons of mass destruction.

Yet Parrikar’s statement earlier this month is significant because of the timing. It is an assertion of the First Use Doctrine specifically meant for Pakistan.

So India’s new strategy is to keep giving Pakistan nosebleeds along the LoC and WB, gradually upping the ante through the use of naval power before a final push through a rapid land attack – confronting Pakistan on multiple fronts in rapid succession. Cold Start was focused on a rapid land move but the new strategy encompasses a multiple level rapid attack after a gradual build up – thereby having a built-in element of surprise.

Pakistan reaches out to UN over LoC tension with India - PTI
Alarmed by the escalation of tension with India along the LoC+ , Pakistan on Thursday asked the UN to act before the situation snowballs into a "full-fledged crisis".

Pakistan's ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi met the Deputy UN Secretary General Jan Eliasson and the Chef de Cabinet of the Secretary General Edmond Mulet during which she alleged that the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) posed a "grave threat to international peace and security".

Lodhi, according to a statement issued by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN, in her meeting with UN officials alleged that escalating tensions on the LoC "was a deliberate attempt" by India to "divert the attention of the international community from the gross human right violations being committed" by it in Kashmir.

Alleging that the attack on an ambulance trying to evacuate the injured was a particularly "abhorrent act" that was a breach of the most fundamental legal and humanitarian laws, Lodhi urged the UN to act before the escalating tensions snowball into a full-fledged crisis.

The UN Department of Peace Keeping Operations was separately asked to mobilise United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to effectively monitor the LoC and the Working Boundary as a step to help deescalate tensions between India and Pakistan, a statement said.

Pakistan Army had on Wednesday said seven persons, including three of its soldiers, were killed in an exchange of fire with Indian troops on the LoC.

The clash occurred a day after India warned of retribution after losing three soldiers in Pakistan firing and after Pakistan yesterday rejected as "false" and "baseless" the charges that the body of an Indian soldier was mutilated by Pakistani soldiers in a cross LoC-attack.

Turkey opts to buy 52 Super Mushshak aircraft from Pakistan
By Salman Siddiqui

KARACHI:
Turkey has decided to buy 52 Super Mushshak basic trainer aircraft, costing more than $50 million, over the next three years, Defence Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said on Wednesday. The minister was speaking during a visit to the ninth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS). Officials of Turkey and Pakistan signed the agreement on the sidelines of the ongoing IDEAS 2016 here.

Such pronouncements / announcements are very common at defence exhibitions ; whether it will amount to anything is another question !

Following from the Late Lee Kwan Yew

Singapore's Lee: we can't integrate Muslims

Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun - February 2, 2011 3:19am

Singapore's presiding genius, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, on the failure of Muslim integration:

In the book, Mr Lee, when asked to assess the progress of multiracialism in Singapore, said: “I have to speak candidly to be of value, but I do not wish to offend the Muslim community. “I think we were progressing very nicely until the surge of Islam came, and if you asked me for my observations, the other communities have easier integration - friends, intermarriages and so on, Indians with Chinese, Chinese with Indians - than Muslims. That’s the result of the surge from the Arab states.” He added: “I would say today, we can integrate all religions and races except Islam.” He also said: “I think the Muslims socially do not cause any trouble, but they are distinct and separate.”

I end my case!

The Cwapistani Mushshak is based on the Saab MFI-15 Safari, also known as the Saab MFI-17 Supporter which was originally built in around 1972. Cwapistan started building its version in 1981. The Super Mushshak was built around 1996.

Primary users of the Mushshak : Cwapistan Air Force, Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force, Royal Saudi Air Force

Primary users of the Super Mushshak : Cwapistan Air Force, Royal Saudi Air Force, Iraqi Air Force

This if the Turks want a Trainer which is in Production for over 20 years - and that too in Cwapistan - then they are Welcome to the Cwapistani Bok!

After having been the root cause of immense destruction, death and tension, the retiring General flaunts the usual Pakistani swagger & bravado !

If Pakistan conducted a surgical strike, it would become part of Indian textbooks: COAS Gen Raheel - DAWN
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday termed India's 'surgical strike' a 'drama'.

"If Pakistan were to conduct a surgical strike, it would become a chapter in Indian textbooks," the army chief said.

The army chief, addressing members of a tribal jirga in Khyber Agency's Bara tehsil said the Pakistan Army is "the strongest force against terrorism".

"They have eliminated terrorism from Pakistan's tribal areas," he said.

"I kept the morale of Pakistan Army up in my time, but I will hand over the reigns to the next chief on Nov 29," he told members of the jirga.

"We have fought the menace of terrorism together over the years," the army chief said. "It has woven us eternally in an unbreakable bond."

"I hope that the relationship between the army and the nation will continue, even after I say goodbye to the Pakistan Army," {What is the meaning of this stupid statement?} he said.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday termed India's 'surgical strike' a 'drama'.

"If Pakistan were to conduct a surgical strike, it would become a chapter in Indian textbooks," the army chief said.

Yes, the indian text books would say that the the paki attempt at a surgical strike provides comic relief for the children and adults alike, across India.. As it probably would be planned on inflated estimates of its own capabilities along with a healthy dose of delusion based on islamic superiority and how hindus like to cower in their dhotis in dark and narrow alleys..

It would be a uberdebacle .. 10 x goofier than their covert '65 SSG mission to disable indian air assets.

How soon before the next Paki chief of terrorist army would try to play one manupship game to get better credentials than Raheel and push for terrorist action in India. After all showing the Machoness runs in the blood of Jehadi Army.

India to buy howitzers worth $737m from US

WASHINGTON: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has finally cleared the long-pending purchase of 145 M777 ultra-light howitzers from the United States, the US media reported on Monday.

The $737 million arms deal is part of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement between the United States and India, which aims to promote greater defence cooperation between the two countries.

The Pentagon’s FMS programme facilitates sales of US defence equipment and services to foreign governments.

Under the arrangement, the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency serves as an intermediary, handling procurement, logistics and delivery of the purchased equipment.

“The contract will be signed within the next two months, and the deliveries are expected to start in mid-2017,” an Indian defence official told reporters in New Delhi.

“India is certainly looking forward for a much greater defence partnership under the leadership with newly elected US President Donald Trump,” the official said.

The official also told reporters that the artillery pieces would help India target militant bases inside Pakistan without crossing the border and that’s why acquiring the howitzers was a top priority. “It will be a game changer,” he added.

Last year, the Indian Ministry of Defence approved a proposal to buy M777A2 (LW155) howitzers from the US only after a commitment from the manufacturers to set up assembly, integration and test (AIT) facilities in India to boost India’s domestic defence industry.

Under the arrangement, US subsidiary of BAE Systems will dispatch 25 M777 artillery guns in fly-away condition; remaining guns will be assembled in India in partnership with private sector company Mahindra Defence Systems.

“Developing a supply chain in India is key to our vision to develop technologies and solutions in India for both the home market and for export,” the US manufacturer said.

The two companies will jointly set up an AIT facility for M777 artillery guns near New Delhi.

The Indian Army has not inducted any type of 155mm howitzers since 1986. The army is seeking a total of 220 ultra-light howitzers over the next 15 years.

The M777 is a 155mm 39-calibre towed gun which enables rapid deployment and accurate artillery fire support. It is the world’s first 155mm Howitzer weighing less than 4,218kg.

Highly mobile on land, at sea and in the air, the M777 has increased survivability through tactical and strategic mobility, low thermal and radar signature, rapid emplacement/displacement and low silhouette.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a staggering increase of up to 146 per cent in the salary of members of parliament.

But will this translate into an "more effective legislature"; will Nawaz Sharif grace his presence in the house? will Immy show up for important debates ; will Bilawal show his presence in Isloo? Enquiring readers want to know

Guys, you must have noticed, but this creep shiv shankar menon is all over on DDM peddling his book. He, with a lot of friendly prodding and help from DDM is ona roll explaining how he and his gang under MMS did the same surgical strike but not announce it. But his most puke-worthy crap is we didn't do anything after 26/11 because India would have lost the moral high ground in the eyes of the international community. What kind of disgusting cowardly mindset is this. TSP rape our people and we don't retaliate because international community won't like it? Where does India get these bloody cretins from. Disgusting to say the least.

Not really. Discretion is the better part of valour.

That is what Indian military activity has been all about.

That sounds contradictory isn't it? SSM and MMS carried out surgical strike but did not announce it? Then they did not strike Pakistan after 26/11 because India "would have lost moral high ground."

And people are expected to take the word of liars such as these? CRamSJi, give your poor heart a break and let these scum wallow in their putrid waste. Why give yourself an aneurysm over it?

I think he's very conveniently left a giant pile of bat droppings for his successor to deal with. He's put his army in a situation where it cannot be seen to be backing off. Raheel will be off in 6 days and his successor will be in the hot seat cursing and pissing on his predecessors wall mounted portrait for the gargantuan mess left behind.

If anything, Raheel is likely to plan one last hurrah to keep the situation boiling for as long as possible.
