Pakistan Ambassador To UN: Women Empowerment And Gender Equality Top Priority Of Pak Govt :((
Pakistan loses another Young Woman to Honour Killing

Pakistani ambassador to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi, recently spoke on how gender equality and women empowerment were the nation’s top priority.
Arguably, that feels like a travesty of Pakistan’s ingrained values; almost a week before Lodhi’s address a young NGO worker was murdered in Kohat in what surfaced as a case of honour killing.
A significant majority of Pakistani men are not so comfortable seeing women challenge the status quo. Because often times, women are either buried under the weight of an expected set of duties or silenced forever the second they dare to tread a path different from our patriarchal norms.
In 2016, social media sensation Qandeel Baloch was strangulated by her brother for her controversial image. In a flick of a finger, Qandeel was reduced to just another headline in a string of honour killing cases crowding local newspapers.
On February 6, Pakistan lost another bright, ambitious 27-year-old woman to honour killing.
Hina Shahnawaz, a young NGO worker and the sole breadwinner of her family in Kohat, was gunned down by unknown assailants; she was shot four times. The prime suspect is none other than her cousin who apparently did not approve of her working outside the house.Reports also suggest that her cousin, Mehboob Alam, wished to marry her, however, Hina showed little interest. Hina was a Master’s in Philosophy; her cousin, on the other hand, did not even pass 10th grade.
Hina’s murder case has taken various turns so far. As many as seven suspects are wanted for Hina’s murder, all of whom are her close relatives and were critical of her profession. The police have managed to arrest six of them along with the main accused. Before his arrest, Mehboob claimed innocence through a video recording on social media. He claimed that the victim’s family was trying to trap him. That, however, does not offer him any legal leeway for the victim’s sister has claimed to be an eyewitness to Mehboob murdering Hina.
One wonders how many more women will have to become scapegoats for protecting their family’s idea of honour? How many more will have to be sacrificed before the nation realises the urgency of protecting women’s lives? And of accepting that they, too, have an equal right of living their lives the way they want?
Perhaps, it’s our society’s mentality that needs to change. The fact that many, aside from her family, may find Hina deserving of her ill fate shouldn’t be a given. It should, instead, alarm us and push us towards a change.Of course, efforts are being made slowly and steadily. A growing number of Pakistani women are breaking barriers and are being appreciated for it. Many are leading ahead of their male counterparts despite odds. But reality still places us as the third most dangerous place in the world for women. That’s something worth looking seriously into.
Here is a good case for the attention of Maryam Sharif d/o Nawaz Sharif and the self -appointed guardian angel of all Pakistani females !

Voice Of America Takes Up "Ethnic Profiling Of Pakistani Pashtuns By The Pakjabi Establishment
Pakistan's ethnic Pashtuns say they are being rousted in midnight raids, detained and subjected to other harassment in the country's crackdown on extremists following a series of terrorist attacks. They see it as a case of guilt by association because the Taliban and other like-minded groups are predominantly Pashtun. Pashtuns have protested to the government and launched a scathing campaign on social media."If someone has done something wrong, authorities should act against them, but targeting someone only because he is Afghan, it isn't fair," said Toqueer Ahmed Kiyano, a Pashtun who owns a guesthouse in Pakistan.
Pakistan denies it is targeting Pashtuns. Rana Sana Uallah, the law minister of Punjab province, told Voice of America that the government was being very vigilant and was monitoring complaints about profiling. He said the latest operation wasn't aimed against any particular ethnic group or nationality.Pashtuns aren't convinced. Over the years, senior Pakistani officials have been repeating a line that the country does not link any ethnicity or religion to acts of terrorism. But following the recent spate of attacks, Pashtuns living or working outside their ancestral land said they had been looked at with suspicion of being militants or militant sympathizers.
Noor Khan of Bajaur, a tribal region on the border with Afghanistan, is one of the owners of a factory that makes cement blocks in Rawalpindi, just outside Islamabad. He was on a visit home when the crackdown against ethnic Pashtuns began in Punjab province.Khan told VOA's Deewa service that his brother, with whom he owns the factory, called and advised him to stay in Bajaur until the situation eased.
Mohammad Naqib, also from Bajaur, told VOA he owns a cloth shop in Rawalpindi and that police had been harassing him and other ethnic Pashtuns living and working in the city.
"We are having a hard time because of the police," Naqib said. "They come at night, at 1 a.m. We are asleep. They check our identity cards, they check our clothes and bags, and then make us stand outside in the cold."Ismail Khan, a cloth merchant in Inayat Kalay, a market town in Bajaur, said he had run out of merchandise but was hesitant to go to Faisalabad, an industrial city in Punjab and a hub of textile mills."They ask for our IDs and tell us, 'You are Pashtuns.' They insult us," he told VOA's Deewa service. The issue has become so serious that the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a Pashtun-majority area bordering Afghanistan, traveled Tuesday to Punjab to talk with senior government officials and Pashtun representatives about reports of mistreatment.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, the province's top elected official, said in an interview with VOA's Deewa service last week that Pashtuns should not be singled out for profiling in the name of enhancing security.
There has even been a suggestion that Pashtuns should break away from Pakistan and form their own country, as Bangladesh did in 1971.
An East Pakistan like situation has already being created by the Paki Establishment !
"We think ethnic and religious infighting leads to destruction of the country," Senator Shahi Syed, a senior leader of the Awami National Party, told VOA's Urdu television during a visit to Washington. "We condemned similar behavior back in 2013 in a joint session [of parliament] because Pashtuns were discriminated [against] and profiled. Punjab police need to behave professionally."Racial profiling of Pashtuns is reminding us of Pakistan's separation from its eastern arm in 1971. They are pushing Pashtuns to the wall," Syed said.

Soccer's World Cup in Qatar Likely to Have Pakistan Army Guard- Bloomberg News .
Qatar is looking to Pakistan for military support at the 2022 soccer World Cup, hoping to tap the ally’s experience in fighting terrorism.
The Gulf country’s prime minister met Pakistan’s army chief in Qatar Tuesday and expressed interest securing assistance for the 32-team competition, Pakistan’s army said in a statement. The support will include training and even the provision of military personnel for the month-long event. Lots of scope for the Paki Fauj to make a "financial killing" from the foremost supporter of Wahabi terrorism in the whole Arab world
Pakistan’s proposed role is part of a discussion of wider military cooperation between the Muslim-majority countries. With the World Cup attracting as many as a million fans, and more than a billion watching on television, security is one of the biggest concerns for organizers. Pakistan is a rentier state ; it is in the forefront of providing "security services" to despotic regimes as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and now Qatar !
Qatar’s leadership has pledged to spend $200 billion on transforming the nation ahead of the first World Cup held in the region. The tiny Gulf emirate in 2009 surprisingly defeated bidders, including the U.S., to host the event. After the event, it will "try" to become another "fun in the sun" destination like Dubai, but with ten times more severe Sharia being implemented there
The army’s presence is the nearest 198th ranked Pakistan is likely to get to a World Cup appearance. Its only other connection to the event is through its ball-making factories, which have provided equipment for previous tournaments. Pakistan's expertise in the "other IT" also needs to be mentioned !
These are the karachi 2 & 3 reactors, being built in the vicinity of Karachi city. These are untested design which Pakistan is Guinea Pigging for. If the cheena built reactors blow up, the Cheenas can do a nice case study titled "Ladiation induced polk flied lice in kalachi city from untested nucleal powel prants"

Their location is here: 24°51'6.06"N 66°46'29.50"E
Two civilian reactors that will be under IAEA safeguard. Incidentally, just slightly east is the old KANUPP reactor, which has barely been producing any electricity in several years, perhaps because the fuel is being slow burnt. The pakis have in the past stolen Poo from here and sent it to Pinstech, pindi, for reprocessing for trying to make Poo bums.

They have 4 reactors in Khushab to extract Poo, have a heavy water plant there, and are now in the process of building a tritium extraction plant (31°59'19.16"N 72°10'20.43"E) there to try and give some spike to their bums.
They have 4 reactors in Chashma and now the chinese are completing/have completed, the Poo reprocessing plant there ( 32°22'55.39"N 71°26'21.63"E), after the french left it half completed several decades ago.

Article in The National Interest jointly authored by US Legislator Ted Poe who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade and James Clad who was a U.S. deputy assistant secretary of defense for Asia in the George W. Bush administration, describes the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a “terrorist-supporting, irresponsible nuclear-weapons state”.

Says that “for decades, the United States has acquiesced in a toxic relationship with Pakistan, putting up with this nominal ally whose military and security leaders play a lethal double game” besides saying “It’s time that the United States sets, unilaterally, the limits of its indulgence”.

Time for a Radical Reset with Pakistan : America finally needs to set limits on its indulgence.

X Posted from the “Pakistani Role In Global Terrorism” thread.

Analyses of 269 Islamism-related offences (IROs) between 1998 and 2015 in the UK which have resulted in convictions (264) or death of perpetrators in the suicide attacks they conducted (5) carried out by Hannah Stuart of the UK think tank, The Henry Jackson Society.

As expected analyses shows those with ancestry from the Mohammadden Terrorism fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan are solidly represented.

24.9 % of Islamic Related Offences (IROs) were committed by those termed “British-Pakistani”, 4.8% by those termed “Pakistani” and 2.2% by those termed “British-Pakistani or Pakistani” {Dual National’s?} for a grand total of Pakistani’s in various variants amounting to 31.9% of IROs. Meanwhile it is well possible that the Pakistani share of IROs could be higher given that the “Unspecified” category comes to 14.9%. For the above statistics please refer “Figure 5b Ancestry by country” on page marked 929 of the report.

Government making effective policies to crack Western propaganda against Islam: Irfanin

RADIO PAKISTAN IS THE NEW MOUTHPIECE OF THE PAKI GOVT :((
Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui says the Government is making effective policies to crack the Western propaganda against Islam and Pakistan. He was talking to Director Center of Islamic Studies of Oxford University Dr Farhan Ahmad Nizami who called on him in Islamabad today. The Advisor said the scholars serving in Western universities can play key role in imparting the real teachings of Islam. Western "Scholars", Think Tanks Universities and News Media in US and UK in the service of Saudi and Qatari cheque book diplomacy are making "some effort" in changing the western perception of Malsi ( and Islam dominating nations ) with the "pissfull" intentions of the faith, etc etc ; but the day to day , ground reality is entirely different with reports of "incidents" in Pakiland, Yemen etc .And the western "six pack Joe" is confused and buying none of that

CPEC Special Economic Zones shrouded in secrecy
A SMALL line in a news story a few days ago caught my eye. The setting was a hearing in the Senate Standing Committee on Planning and Development at which high officials from the Planning Commission were answering questions about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The line that caused me to do a double take was this one: “The committee was informed that only Chinese industrialists would be allowed to set up their industries in the proposed economic zones along the corridor.” So, now it seems that there are TWO CPECS side by side ; one "public" and the other "secret" and this information is/was being kept hidden from the Awaam
Surely this was a mistake, I thought, so I called some people, including members of the committee, to ask whether this had indeed been said. They confirmed that, yes, the officials from the Planning Commission had indeed said this.So what’s going on? Under the CPEC umbrella, there are nine Special Economic Zones planned. One each in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad, two in Sindh and one each in Fata, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Going by the CPEC website, work does not appear to have begun on any of them yet. ( so "everything" still on paper; the awaam "opium fed" on these promises  ) The relative size of each is also not disclosed, nor are there any details about the special infrastructure requirements for each.
The website claims that these are Chinese-financed projects, though it doesn’t tell us what the terms are, whether the financing is concessional or on commercial terms. We also don’t know how the energy and water requirements of these zones will be met. Will there be new transmission and distribution lines, grid stations for electricity, gas pipelines and compressors, water pipelines, and if so, where will the water be sourced from?If gas will be supplied from the grid, what will be the merit order placement of these industries in the gas load curtailment plan? Or will they be required to import their own LNG, in which case what third-party access rules will apply for the transport of that gas from the regasification terminal to the economic zone? In most "normal" countries all these questions would have been answered by a proper feasibility and an environmental studies done , before the proverbial shovel is dug into the ground . But then this is Pakiland
Will our role be only to consume the output of these zones, or will these zones also create employment for Pakistanis, and contribute tax revenue to the exchequer, and foster backward and forward linkages to generate more investment? It bothers me that something as large as this is being done with so little information known publicly. If it hadn’t been for this hearing at the Senate, we might never have known that the government has agreed to allow Special Economic Zones to which only one category of investor will be allowed in.If there are perfectly reasonable answers to the questions asked here, it would be helpful for the Planning Commission to release them. Slowly and surely, Pakis are being colonized by their "strategic ally "

22.6m Pakistani children still out of school: report
ISLAMABAD: Though the number of out-of-school children has reduced from last year’s figure of 24 million to 22.6 million,[(i) Paki statistics cannot be trusted (ii) Do the definition of "schools" meet a certain standard (iii) Can"Islami madrassas" defined as schools ] statistics of 2015-16 still paint a gloomy picture, calling for the imposition of real education emergency. (
As many as 44pc children between the ages of five and 16 are still out of school.
The report says that only 30pc children remain enrolled from class 1 till 10th.
What is being taught in these so-called schools is another matter altogather !
Due to various factors (corruption, lack of funds, appropriation of funds by the military, unawareness of importance of education, etc ), social sector spending has been "outsourced" to foreign governments and NGO's

Dasu was earlier given to a SoKo firm IIRC, but nothing happened

Dong Feng electrical company build the Ghazi Brotha project for them, but the pakis have blacklisted Dong Feng since then.

Even Gawadar was given to the Singaporeans in 2007 to Operate after they were the highest bidder. Note that DP World (Dubai) was also a candidate, but withdrew its bid. There just was no shipping traffic and so the singaporeans left.
Cheena came in in 2013 and will probably use it for military purposes.

Islamabad High Court Judge Seen Kissing Killer Of Salman Taseer ?

Did IHC judge really kiss Mumtaz Qadri or Is It A Case Of Mistaken Identity ?
ISLAMABAD – In 2015, an assortment of people including lawyers and supporters of convicted murderer of Governor Salman Taseer flocked outside the Islamabad High Court and outnumbered the police. The men were carrying placards and shouting slogans in favour of the slain governor’s assassin, Mumtaz Qadri. The focus of attention, however, was Advocate Yasir Shakeel. Someone bearing great facial resemblance to IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Shakeel had kissed Mumtaz Qadri when he appeared before an anti-terrorism court in 2011.After the appointment of Justice Siddiqui as IHC judge, a photograph of Shakeel kissing Qadri went viral on the social media and made it seem as if a Pakistani judge was kissing a convicted terrorist.
Shakeel is very active on social media and takes full credit and pride in being the ‘blessed person’ for kissing Mumtaz Qadri. He has also urged others to stop ‘vilifying’ the Honourable judge as it was he who kissed Qadri.Advocate Shakeel was also an office-bearer of the Namoos-i-Risalat Forum, which urged lawyers to appear in court to show support for Qadri. "Advocate" kissing a convicted killer in open public ! Is this allowed under "Sharia" ? Or is this another case of "Bacha Baazi" for which Pakistan is famous

Every Port needs a "Hinterland". Gwadar has NO HINTERLAND in Baluchistan.

The Gulf of Kutch has Kandla, Mundra, Sallaya and Jamnagar which handle around 350 Million Tonnes Annually - if not more - for Northern India and possibly Central India as well as Gujarat.

IMO Gwadar might get to handle Xinjiang Exports and Imports. Gwadar will get very little trade - if any - from the CARs. It will mainly be a base for the PLAN Flotilla. Basta!

Pakis and their dream minarets!!!
They have a mega port planned for Sonmiani also.

They have upgraded the little port at Ormara - the Pak Behriya must have heaved a big sigh of relief!
Before Ormara, they were a one port navy. The ships and subs would leave Karachi go into the sea, wander about aimlessly in the arabian sea, watching out for the Indian Navy, and quickly come back to Karachi. Like a little rat stepping out of a rathole, watching out for the big bad cat!
Now atleast they HAVE somewhere to go... :rotfl:

Paki MNA's Get Physical Over Pashtun Profiling !

Imran Khan urges NA speaker to revoke membership of Javed Latif
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday urged the speaker of National Assembly (NA) to revoke the membership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) legislator Javed Latif.( A Pakjabi from Sheikhapura !)
Imran Khan stated this after a a brawl erupted between PTI legislator Murad Saeed ( A pashtun from Swat !) and Khalid Latif earlier today. Murad Saeed punched Javed Latif of Pakistan Muslim League Javed Latif after he went angry when PML-N member slammed PTI supremo Imran Khan for his ‘phateechar’ remarks regarding the foreign players who participated in PSL final.
Both Murad and PML-N’s legislator Latif came out of the assembly hall after indulging in a verbal duel but angered Murad gave a blow to Latif, loosing his temper. Appreciating the act of Saeed, Imran Khan called him a man with dignity. So, "Immy a distinguished graduate from Oxford", has no regrets in condoning violence to settle disputes, in the "sacred halls" of the Paki National Assembly
The young PTI member went on and expressed that Pashtuns were facing severe racial profiling in Punjab.
Earlier, Javed Latif in a bried talk to local television maintained that he did not slap Murad Saeed initially as he was like his own son. He also forgave Murad Saeed. He claimed that he did not term Imran Khan ‘traitor’ and expressed that Murad was groomed like that.
stereotyping of Pashtuns ?

Well, those are claimed population numbers and the last census was a decade and a half ago. The population is likely to easily be at least 30% higher than that.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan- November 7, 2016

How strong is Islamic State in Pakistan?
Security forces have successfully busted several attempts by Islamic State to establish itself in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, but their continued activities in Pakistan show the threat they pose is as real as it gets.

Tortured Pakistani Activist Speaks !
A liberal Pakistani activist who went missing earlier this year has said a "government institution" with links to the military held him and tortured him.Waqass Goraya, one of five activists who disappeared in early January, told the BBC he was tortured "for pleasure".The activists were freed after several weeks - but until now none of them have said who was behind their mistreatment.Pakistan's army has previously denied any involvement in the case. There were vocal protests seeking their release.Pakistan is one of the the world's most dangerous countries for reporters and human rights activists, and critics of the powerful military have been detained, beaten or killed.Waqass Goraya - who now lives in the Netherlands - told the BBC he had been tortured "beyond limits".
He described being punched, slapped and forced into stress positions during the three weeks he was held. He worried he would never be released."We knew it was over… We will die under torture," he told the BBC.He also spoke at a side event at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva about his experiences.Mr Goraya believes he was detained because he ran a satirical Facebook page critical of the influence of the Pakistani military in the country's political system. The page has also criticised military policy in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. Mr Goraya strongly denies breaking any laws."I hadn't done anything criminal - otherwise I would've been in a court not in illegal detention," he told the BBC.At a press conference in January, a spokesman for Pakistan's powerful military said it had had nothing to do with the disappearance of the bloggers.Pakistan's interior minister had previously said the government did not tolerate "enforced disappearances".After Waqass Goraya and the other activists disappeared, a campaign demanding their release sprang up around the hashtag #recoverallactivists. But a counter-campaign both online - and backed by a number of TV anchors - accusing them of blasphemy also began.Blasphemy is an emotive issue in Pakistan - and can legally be punishable by death.Mr Goraya says the allegations of blasphemy are false, and that alleged blasphemous postings have been fabricated.
Following a court petition by an Islamist leader, on 8 March legal proceedings were begun calling for the prosecution of those behind a number of social media pages allegedly run by the missing activists. All of them are now believed to be outside Pakistan. Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has previously raised concern about the blasphemy allegations against the activists - but following the court ruling threatened to block "all social media websites" that had blasphemous content.Mr Goraya believes the blasphemy allegations are an attempt "to shut us down - to threaten our families - to build pressure on us".A protest was held in Islamabad on 8 March by religious groups calling for action against the activists and criticising the government for letting them leave the country.Mr Goraya says he believes that by speaking to the UN, he can help build pressure in Pakistan to pass a bill currently before parliament that would force the security services to provide information on a "missing person" in their detention within three days of a request. He also wants accountability for what happened to him.( Good luck!)"The government should investigate it. We have evidence - strong evidence - it will directly lead to the persons responsible."Mr Goraya still has nerve damage in his hands and feet, as well as problems with his hearing - but says he is determined to continue activist work."They are still picking people, more and more people are being harmed - our friends, our colleagues - so how can we stop? Someone has to stand up."
Hope "nothing" happens to his family as a result of this interview !

Kabul and Islamabad: Danger on the Durand line – Michael Kugelman
Last month, Pakistan suffered its deadliest spasm of terrorist violence since 2014. Over a period of four days in February, militants struck all four Pakistani provinces and three major urban spaces.

Terrorism: a technique of war?
https://www.dawn.com/news/1318619/terro ... que-of-war
ASAD DURRANI ( ex ISI)
Even though the term terrorism was first used during the ‘reign of terror’ unleashed by the French Revolution of 1795, the phenomenon has existed through the ages. One of its earliest practitioners is believed to be Hassan bin Sabah, who in 11th-century Iran used to get his followers high on hashish to go on a killing spree. Many of us were thus familiar with the ‘T’ word, but ask anyone to explain it and chances were that you would draw a blank. We claim to know what it is but still struggle to define it. It reminds me of an American judge, who when asked to describe ‘*****’ admitted that he could not, but “would recognise it when he saw it”.Nevertheless, there were times that decrypting this mystery was seriously pursued to reach a generally acceptable definition. I vaguely recall it was the US State Department that once floated a text: “deliberately targeting non-combatants to achieve a political objective”. Mr Akhtar neatly captured the spirit of the exercise and correctly understood why it was abandoned. Since the state too had been targeting non-combatants, in fact more than the non-state actors, it would have made America the leading terrorist entity — for nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bombing civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for endless other acts. Britain’s bombardment of Dresden in the Second World War was a quintessential act of terrorism.
Unlike the search for a consensus definition, the discussion on state terrorism was, however, not abandoned till after 9/11. The US then took charge and got the state immunity from the T tag. Subsequently, only the non-state actors could vie for this privilege. In fact, a state may now declare any dissident group — even if fighting an oppressive regime or resisting occupation — terrorist, and all its actions against this nuisance would become kosher. There were times one could try to distinguish acts of terror from wars of liberation. Not anymore. All of them — Chechens, Uighur, Hamas, Hezbollah, Kashmiris, et al — once branded ‘terrorist’ were fair game. Terrorism as a label is now an invaluable instrument of state policy.
The late Sir Hilary Synnott was once the British high commissioner in Pakistan. In 2004, speaking at a seminar in the UK, he called terrorism a technique. As a soldier I was gratified that a civilian too understood this aspect of war. Years later, I learnt that a military man, the American general William Odom too had stated on C-Span that terrorism was a tactic. In 1997, during a conference on new forms of terrorism, an Israeli major general said something quite interesting: “The Shia hara-kiri bombers were so effective that the Jewish state was seeking a fatwa from the Sunni religious scholars against suicide”. That should have alerted me to the use of this tactic in combat.Even in wars between conventional armies, as in the quoted examples of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Dresden, non-combatants (NSAs) have been wilfully targeted. But in asymmetric wars, waged between the state and the non-state actors, this technique is unavoidable. The latter, lacking the ability to seriously hurt state security forces, have no option but to go for soft targets.
Over time, these NSAs have learnt the use of the ‘ultimate weapon’. The human being possesses most of the attributes desired in a perfect weapon system. He can carry a warhead and manoeuvre around obstacles; is hard to detect and intercept; can identify the target; choose the time to release his lethal cargo; and if needed abort the mission at the last moment. There still remains though, the matter of motivating him to make the ‘ultimate sacrifice’. Depending upon the individual, money, a cause worth its while and indoctrination, are some of the means. In military terms too, it is cost effective: many of us for one of theirs, with terror as the collateral, in fact the real, benefit. America has not only been the leading perpetrator of terror, but also its main beneficiary. The rest of us, however, have been rather forgiving. While conceding that the US’s policies and actions created Al Qaeda and the militant Islamic State (IS) group, the country was generally spared the charge of wilfulness. Considering how the US — and not only its infamous ‘military-industrial complex’ — have profited by initiating wars and their perpetuation, there was no more space for any benefit of doubt. To secure a foothold in strategically important regions, the Middle East and Central Asia, the ‘war on terror’ was the raison d’être to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. This inevitably led to armed resistance, disingenuously dubbed terrorism, and thus not only rationalised the invasion but also provided the perfect pretext to continue occupation — to fight ever more terrorists. At a high-profile conference in the UK in late 2014, the resurgence of IS was welcomed by Ashraf Ghani’s delegates and his American patrons: “Mercifully, the US military would now give up any plans to leave Afghanistan” (not that it had any). The Kabul regime got a new lease of life, and prayed for some other IS clone to come to its rescue when next needed.

Postscript: Since terrorism has survived through the ages, is it possible that it is part of human nature? As children we were afraid of the ‘bully on the block’. When the local badmash terrified the neighbourhood, we wanted someone to do the same to him. We relished the thought that others would live in fear of us. Maybe terrorism is merely a more radical version of scaring, intimidating, petrifying or frightening others. But then that is a subject for social scientists and psychologists. ( Did not some one on his Divine mission claim i was made Victorious with Terror)

Nisar threatens to block all social media websites with 'blasphemous content'
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Thursday threatened to block "all social media websites" that host blasphemous content hours after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the government to open an investigation into online blasphemy
No country can allow religious sentiments to be hurt or top state functionaries to be subjected to ridicule under what the minister described as "the pretext of freedom of expression."
IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked the government to form an investigative committee to report back next Monday over the issue, saying he could order social media sites to be blocked if offending content remained online
Even unproven allegations can be fatal. At least 65 people, including lawyers, judges and activists, have been murdered by vigilantes over blasphemy allegations since 1990
Will BR be available to pakis in pakiland?

Dr. UnFair Bats For India And Comes Hard On ( India's Favorite ?) Gen Mahmood Ali Durrani

What Durrani Denied About 26/11 is More Crucial Than His Admission
C Christine Fair
On 6 March 2017, the Twittersphere in New Delhi lit up with the claim that Major-General (Retd) Mahmud Ali Durrani confessed that the Mumbai attacks of 2008 were executed by a terrorist group in Pakistan. In the pieces that India’s various media ran, his ostensible honesty was greeted with endless enthusiasm. After all, Durrani served as Pakistan’s National Security Advisor (NSA) for (gasp) more than eight months between 1 May 2008 and 10 January 2009. He was the NSA when the attacks happened and he even risked the wrath of the State by admitting that Ajmal Kasab – the lone surviving terrorist – was Pakistani.
He admitted this long after a brave journalist had already interviewed his father near Okara in Pakistan’s Punjab province. This was a form of quasi-validation that many Indians were waiting to hear from someone who was in office when the tragedy took place. Unfortunately, there is little to be celebrated in what he said. Indians, and indeed, the international community, deserve better than this.
So what did the “gernail” say that was so momentous and worthy of such praise and reportage? In halting English, read from prepared remarks that included mangling the pronunciation of Mumbai, the General said:
Today, terrorism is a serious global threat that needs to be defeated by a well- considered strategy both at the national, regional and international levels. The terrorist attack in Mumbai carried about by a terrorist group in Pakistan on 26/11 is a classic transborder event…. Mistrust overruled common sense.Did not know that the "Georgetown Professor" professed such "deep hatred" for the Paki Fauj, just because , a "whole regiment" was assigned to gang r**pe her
.There is nothing new in this. The world knows that the Mumbai attacks were executed by Lashkar-e-Taiba and that this group was and remains based in Pakistan. What the General denied was much more worthy of coverage. At the end of his prepared remarks and during the question-and-answer session, Durrani explicitly said that the Mumbai attacks were not State-sponsored. The General has to live in Pakistan, the Professor does not!
However, it is well-known from the testimony of David Coleman Headley, the Pakistani-American who played a key role in conceiving and executing the plan, that not only was this attack “State-sponsored,” ISI officials were foundational partners in all aspects of the gruesome, murderous rampage.Durrani’s dishonesty, of course, was more expansive than simply denying the State-sponsorship of the Mumbai attack. He also deflected and minimised Pakistan’s duplicitous role in undermining the US-NATO-Afghan effort to bring a stable democracy to Afghanistan by unstintingly supporting the Afghan Taliban and their savage collaborators such as the Jalaluddin Haqqani Network and the Lashkar-e-Taiba.]The General has to live in Pakistan, the Professor does not!
Pakistan’s proxies have slaughtered countless Afghans in and out of uniform as well as thousands of international civilian and military personnel. And all the while Pakistan has received more than $33 billion from the United States alone, ostensibly because it is a “partner” in the US efforts there. She had a good "working relationship" with her guru, Hillary. She did not do "anything" then to stop the aid flow . And she, now is "out of favour" with the Trump Sarkar, so no one is going to listen to her
Durrani has long claimed that he believes that peace between India and Pakistan is the best hope for the sub-continent. In 2000, he even published a book titled India and Pakistan: The cost of conflict, the benefits of peace. Moreover, Durrani is so damned affable. You want to like him.
When Durrani speaks, you want to believe what he says. He’s just that kind of guy. But when you think about this logically and question the trappings of this soft-spoken and lovely human being professing peace-mongering, you have to seriously ask how he can say he truly desires harmony when he can’t even acknowledge what the world already knows: Pakistan explicitly sponsors terror in India and Afghanistan as one of its principle tools of foreign policy. As a "professor" she should know that, in diplomacy, it is not good policy to thrash your own country on foreign soil !

http://thediplomat.com/2016/11/islamic- ... licy-tool/

ISKP is nothing but Pakistan’s new terror syndicate to prolong the war in Afghanistan under the banner of ISIS.
Once again, the very same sponsor of the Taliban and al-Qaeda has decided to establish a terror group — this time, the regional variant of the Islamic State (ISIS) known as the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP). This new brand of terrorism is key for prolonging the conflict in the region, thus establishing Pakistan’s role in any counter activities and providing a perfect tool for squeezing out more foreign funds and perks. It is a well-calculated game plan and one that is attractive in the region, at least for the time being. For example, an assertive Russia does not mind the propagation of the ISIS threat in Afghanistan and the immediate region, as it gives Kremlin the perfect card to deal with Central Asian Republics who have tried to stay away from Moscow’s sway for the past two decades. At the same time, it provides Iran the option to increase its sectarian-based geostrategic interference in the region, thus inviting Gulf States to counter activities in Afghanistan and the region.
The Islamic State, being at odds with al-Qaeda whose presence in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region is a well-known fact, welcomed the gesture. After almost a year, in September 2014, a three-member ISIS delegation, headed by Zubair al-Kuwaiti and including Sheikh Yusuf from Saudi Arabia and Uzbek commander Fahim Ansari were received in Islamabad. The group was escorted to Rawalpindi to meet Jamaat ud Dawa and held talks with members of Jamaat Islami of Pakistan. The ISIS delegation went on to meet several commanders of the various TTP’s wings, including Lashkar-e-Islam Chief Mangal Bagh. The message delivered by the ISIS delegation, was plain and simple: Unite to secure IS support.ISKP in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region is not cut of the same cloth as the Islamic State we have witnessed in Syria and Iraq; therefore it is a mistake to think of them as the same. The regional brand of ISKP in the making is more a consortium of several TTP fragmented groups combined with the already existing LeJ, JuD, Jem, Jundullah, IMU, disgruntled Taliban groups, and a dozen other groups nurtured through the decades in Afghanistan and Pakistan. These terrorist outfits tasked to operate under the banner of ISKP are more like a marriage of convenience than a union based on shared ideology. It is to be noted that these groups have always operated for decades with the blessings of the Pakistani state and its intelligence wing. They are highly dependent on each other for continued existence. This facilitation of the activities of terror groups by Pakistani Intelligence has precedence. For decades, terror outfits have used Pakistan to travel to and from various conflict zones, often with the connivance of Pakistani intelligence officials as was evident most recently in the case of former Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Mansour. These terror groups are bargaining chips, as Asad Durrani told Al Jazeera. Despite Pakistan’s alliance in the war of terror, specifically targeting al-Qaeda, the group is still active and has now established an al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) wing. The terror groups active in the region had their own distinct operating principles, but since the emergence of ISIS we have witnessed a systematic attempt to make the outside world believe that they all now operate under Islamic State. For example, previously the LeJ and LeT groups were operating across the Durand Line under the banner of Haqqani Network and since the emergence of ISIS they have been rebranded. For example, the ISKP in Nangarhar were twice attacked, once by the Taliban and then by Afghan and U.S. forces. But after each assault they regrouped in greater numbers and were better equipped. This rapid supply and refill in the aftermath of each assault hints at a systematic supply chain of ISKP managed by the Pakistan Army.Contrary to what is propagated, the manpower of ISKP comprises a mixture of Pakistani Army regulars, the Frontier Constabularies (FC), and a combination of TTP splinter factions and LeJ/JuD/JeM affiliates, depending on the territory assigned to them. Looking at the track record of Pakistan along the LoC, its recipe for mixing up Pakistan Army regulars and irregulars has been a tested formula for decades. The necessity to strengthen ISKP ranks with Pakistani Army professionals and paramilitary is due to the fact that ISKP has had to endure heavy losses while fighting the Taliban as well as Afghan and U.S. forces. This faltering of ISKP forced Pakistan to speed up the process of nurturing its presence, at least along the Durand Line adjacent to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. It needs to be stressed that Islamic State (ISIS) threat in the shape of ISKP is Pakistan’s main bargaining tool with the region but particularly Russia.

Senile Sartaj "Slapped" By Paki High Court ?

Powers of FM can’t be assumed by "Home Adviser" adviser: CJ
LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Thursday heard a petition against appointments of two advisers to the prime minister and observed that powers of a foreign minister could not be exercised by an adviser.A citizen, Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi, ( Are Aam Abduls allowed to "challenge" the decision of a Modern Mughal Padshah like Ganja Sharif  ) challenged the appointments of Sartaj Aziz and Tariq Fatemi as advisers (it is high time, that both of these "old school gentlemen" should resign for the sake of their "dignity" !) aand special assistant to the prime minister, respectively, on foreign affairs.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that Mr Aziz and Mr Fatemi had been running the foreign ministry like ministers. The counsel pointed out that the prime minister could appoint five advisers, but an army number of advisers had been working in violation of the rules. In Pakistan, appointments are done on the discretion of any person, currently holding "power"
The chief justice observed that the courts could be petitioned on the basis of clear and reliable media reports. ( I.O.W. media reports become a source of "make -work projects" for the idle lawyers of the justice system of Pakistan !)The chief justice said powers/roles of ministers and advisers had been clearly defined in the laws and an adviser could not assume the powers of a minister.Justice Shah adjourned further hearing till March 16 and sought more arguments from both sides -- the petitioner and the government.

Pakistan's Economic Pressure Against NATO And Afghanistan Must Stop
Pakistan claims that it closed the border due to terrorist attacks emanating from Afghanistan. But given that terrorists can use small clandestine trails known as ratlines through the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and bribe Pakistani border guards along the way, Pakistan’s reasoning rings false. The reality is that Pakistan’s border is porous to terrorists, but not to containerized cargo. So Pakistan is not closing the border to stop terrorism, but rather to put economic pressure on Afghanistan through trade sanctions by another name
Pakistan is using the death of its civilians to block NATO and afghan trade containers. Everyone knows that terrorists dont use passports and travel docs to travel from Pak to Afghanistan, there are hundreds of places where they can cross without such drama.

Pakistan Newspaper Publishes "Laundry List Of Sexism In Paki Politics"

6 times Pakistani politicians insulted the women they work with
Name-calling and fist fights are not uncommon when opposing politicians get together. But yesterday's brawl between PTI lawmaker Murad Saeed and PML-N lawmaker Javed Latif underscored a disturbing trend.During a a press conference after an argument during an National Assembly session, Latif is reported to have passed distasteful remarks about Saeed's sisters in connection with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.( So, Immy is again in the "marriage market" :D )His comments invited censure from all quarters, so much so that his name was soon trending on Twitter.
However, this isn't the first time women were disrespected at National Assembly. Here's a list.
1) The times Benazir Bhutto was called names for her bright clothes
According to veteran journalist Nusrat Javeed, Sheikh Rasheed ( the famous "randi-baaz" politico :D ) was one of the first politicians to be observed passing derogatory remarks to his female peers.“Benazir Bhutto was wearing a Pakistani green shirt and white shalwar. When she walked in, he quipped ‘You look like a veritable parrot’, which did not go down well with Ms Bhutto at all and caused a ruckus in the house,” he recalled in a conversation with Dawn.
Sheikh Rashid commented on Bhutto's appearance a second time when she attended a NA session in a yellow suit, ...
We wish we could disregard Sheikh Rashid as one bad egg, but that's not the case...
2) When an inappropriate comment was hurled at Begum Zahid Khaleequzaman
When Begum Zahid Khaleequzaman was minister for railways, Nusrat Javeed recalls her commenting on her work load thus: ‘I have so much work that I have one foot in Karachi and the other in Rawalpindi’."At this, someone from the backbenches had shouted ‘The people of Rahim Yar Khan must be enjoying themselves’." ( Due to the "strategic location" of Rahim Yar Khan !)
3) When Khwaja Asif called Begum Mehnaz Rafi a "penguin"
Before he infamously referred to PTI whip Shireen Mazari as a "tractor trolley" (more on that below), Defence Minister Khwaja Asif is reported to have called PML-Q's Begum Mehnaz Rafi a "penguin" in reference to her limp.
4) When Khwaja Asif called Shireen Mazari a 'tractor trolley'
At a National Assembly session in June 2016, Khawaja Asif was giving a speech on loadshedding in Ramzan when PTI led by MNA Shireen'Mazari protested against against some points he made
Incensed by the interruption, Asif launched a tirade against Mazari, saying "Someone make this tractor trolley keep quiet.""Make her voice more feminine," he said, according to eyewitnesses. Another lawmaker chimed in from the government benches to say "Keep quiet, aunty" . The Hon. Minister is acquiring a well deserved reputation as a "serial molester" and a victim of "foot -in-mouth" disease :D

5) When JUI-F senator Hafiz Hamdullah threatened Marvi Sirmed on TV
JUI-F Senator Hafiz Hamdullah hurled threats at analyst Marvi Sirmed during a TV talk show.Although the threats were never televised, Sirmed revealed in a Facebook post that Hamdullah had swore at her and threatened to "take off her and her mother's shalwar". He also tried to beat her, she said in her Facebook post: So, the Mullah Brigade also wants to be "in" on his " molesting game"
6) When Sheikh Aftab asked Shireen Mazari if she wanted strip searches at airports
When Shireen Mazari pressed State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab on the security standards at the Islamabad airport, he said, "In airports abroad, they also strip-search you. Is that the international standard she wants,” he responded, to peals of approving laughter from the treasury benches.
Asma Jahangir, a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and noted human rights activist, expressed similar views. She termed the Javed Latif episode a “shameful” one and called for appropriate action against the lawmakers concerned. “Once they are penalised, no one will dare talk in that tone,” she said while talking to a private television channel.“It’s shameful that they don’t know how to talk to a woman. Are they the elected representatives of people attending an assembly session or some goons?”
Under the "Islamic Culture" practiced in Pakistan, is it not "rumored" that a woman's place is at her home ; it is going to take a long, long time , before equal rights are enjoyed by women in Islamic societies . Proclaiming Womens' Day or enacting some laws is not going to solve the problem !

"Chinification" Of Pakistan Stock Exchange Begins !: Chinese Board Members To Replace Local Pakis :D

Chinese directors to join PSX board by February 10
KARACHI: Four Chinese directors would be appointed on the board of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) by February 10, the PSX chairman Munir Kamal said on Wednesday.“Names of Chinese consortium’s representatives have been received and would be made public after the approval from the SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan),” Kamal said, speaking at the Jang Forum. “At the moment, there are 10 members on PSX board, including six nominated by SECP and four elected by bourse’s members. On February 10, the SECP-nominated directors would be reduced to two and four would be elected by members and four representing Chinese consortium.” When you take a 40% financial stake, you will naturally see that your interests are protected ! The Pakis should expect similar action by the Chinese to protect their investment in the CPEC gamechanger
Arif Habib, chairman of Arif Habib Group said investment in government securities, real estate, commodities and forex is not productive and does not contribute to the economy. “Investment in listed stocks, on the other hand, encourages industrial as well as services sectors growth, hence generates employment opportunities and contributes to the national exchequer in the form of taxes,” Habib said. True, if the stock exchange operations are transparent, not dominated by a few players, and the general economic and political climate is "normal" ; which is definitely not the case here . !
Shahbaz Ashraf, head of research at Arif Habib Limited said the PSX gave an estimated 46 percent return during 2016, "which put Pakistan in the spotlight as the best performing market in Asia and the fifth best in the world." :(( Ashraf said the annual returns stood out as the best in Morgan Stanley Capital International Frontier Markets. :((
A Pakistani paper recently published a "not so rosy" picture of "shady financing" in the operations of the PSX !

ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan has demanded access to 15 Indian citizens in result of the interrogation with neighbouring country’s spy Kulbhushan Yadav. The citizens are linked with the network involved in spreading terror and conducting subversive activities in Pakistan through India, Afghanistan and Iran.
A prominent personality who is a part of diplomacy between Pakistan and India confirmed it to Daily Dunya that a list regarding the matter has been handed over to Indian High Commission in Islamabad and has been prepared after assistance from an ally. Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary in a letter to Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambanwala has demanded that either an access is granted to the men or they are given in the custody of Pakistan.
The diplomatic source has revealed that if no positive response came back from India, then the list will be sent to United Nations and permanent members of Security Council. So, there is an "implied threat" here
The wanted men include agents and facilitators of RAW and Indian Intelligence Bureau.Pakistan is also planning to share the information gained by Yadav with the leadership of Iran and Afghanistan as some of the matters are related to both these countries.Yadav had an Iranian visa on his passport and was working as a businessman at Iran’s Chabahar port being built by India. He was the head of the spy network operating in Pakistan which aimed to spread terror, cause economic instability especially damaging the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This appears to be "stale news" , as the ex Bad Sharif already had "ticked off " the President Of Iran, on the same subject , a couple of months ago !

arun wrote:Article in The National Interest jointly authored by US Legislator Ted Poe who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade and James Clad who was a U.S. deputy assistant secretary of defense for Asia in the George W.

Following up on his National Interest article, US legislator Ted Poe who is Chairman of the US House Subcommittee on Terrorism introduces H.R. 1449, Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Act of 2017.

Bill was co-sponsored by {reformed?} India baiting Khalistan and Naga separatist booster, US legislator Dana Rohrabacher. Anyway IIRC Roharabacher had introduced legistion or was it amendment to legislation to call the Mohammadden Terrorist fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan to book, with no success in the previous US Congress.

In any event given the news today that Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chadrasekhar felt compelled to withdraw his private members bill to declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terror (Clicky), perhaps we as a nation do not desrve this outcome:
CHAIRMAN POE INTRODUCES PAKISTAN STATE SPONSOR OF TERRORISM ACT OF 2017

March 9, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Ted Poe (TX-02), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism introduced H.R. 1449, the Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Act of 2017. The bill requires the President to issue a report within 90 days detailing whether Pakistan has provided support for international terrorism. Thirty days after that, the Secretary of State is required to a submit a follow-up report containing either a determination that Pakistan is a state sponsor of terrorism or a detailed justification as to why it does not meet the legal criteria for such a designation.

“Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the United States for years. From harboring Osama bin Laden to its cozy relationship with the Haqqani network, there is more than enough evidence to determine whose side Pakistan is on in the War on Terror. And it’s not America’s. It is time we stop paying Pakistan for its betrayal and designate it for what it is: a State Sponsor of Terrorism.”
