Battle-e-royale in play. First, the news. Legendary sitarist Ustad Raees Khan passes away
Ustad Raees Khan, one of the most outstanding players of sitar, passed away on Saturday. He was 77.
Ustad Raees was born in 1939 in Indore, India.
The great sitar player Ustad Vilayat Khan was his uncle.
After marrying Bilqees Khanum (his second wife) in the 1980s (<NOTE: 1986 to be precise>), Ustad Raees moved to Pakistan. He was welcomed with open arms
Now the blasphemy:
After Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Abdul Sattar Edhi, Ustad Raees was our greatest personality. It’s such a huge loss.
He used to claim that he invented gaeki ang in his sitar playing.
And, now the jang-e-khaas which is brewing up:

Family feud turns into cross-border musical war
Ustad Vilayat Khan's daughter Begum Yaman Khan slams Pakistani cousin Ustad Rais Khan for allegedly stealing a sitar technique invented by her late father
Sufi singer Begum Yaman Khan -- daughter of legendary sitar wizard (late) Ustad Vilayat Khan -- has accused her Pakistani cousin Ustad Rais Khan of being a fraud, who has stolen Gayaki Ang, a technique invented by her father. She has also demanded his Mumbai concert on January 20 be banned keeping in mind the alleged inflammatory remarks he made about India before leaving for Pakistan 20 years ago.
So, that's why he left. He was kicked out. And then to call ustad raees the third greatest personality (whatever that means) is blasphemy when you have such greats such as saint qadri, OBL, hafiz saeed, iqbal, zia, mushy, genrail niazi, aq khan...who have given so much notoriety to bakistan. If raees stole a technique, it only follows in the grand traditions of paki thefts of other many other things.

China offers to rename China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

NEW DELHI: Seeking to allay India's concerns, China has offered to rename the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which passes through Pakistan occupied-Kashmir(PoK), insisting it was an economic cooperation and connectivity enhancement project devoid of "sovereignty issues".

It also strongly pushed for New Delhi's participation in the 'One Belt, One Road' project.

Chinese ambassador to New Delhi Luo Zhaohui, while referring to frosty Indo-Pakistan ties, said China was willing to mediate to resolve the differences between the two countries if it was acceptable to both sides.

Referring to the CPEC, which is part of OBOR, he said China has no intention to get involved in the sovereignty and territorial disputes between India and Pakistan and that the project is for promoting economic cooperation and connectivity in the region.

"It has no connections to or impact on sovereignty issues. Even we can think about renaming the CPEC. China and India have had successful experience of delinking sovereignty disputes from bilateral relations before," he said in closed-door address to a think-tank on Friday.

India has been severely critical of the CPEC, saying the project violates its sovereignty as it runs through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Luo said China is sincere in its intention to cooperate with India on the OBOR as it is "good for both of us."

Maintaining that China and India could be natural partners in connectivity and the OBOR, the Chinese ambassador said Indian economy was behind China by at least 13 years, suggesting New Delhi should grab economic opportunities offered by Beijing.

"Now the GDP of India is roughly that of China in 2004, some 13 years ago. China leads India by 13 years mainly because we started reform and opening up 13 years earlier," he said.

Referring to the view in India that China always puts Pakistan first when handling its relations with South Asian countries, he said the government always follows "China first" policy and that problems are dealt on merit.

"I want to tell you this is not true. Simply put, we always put China first and we deal with problems based on their own merits. Take Kashmir issue for example, we supported the relevant UN resolutions before 1990s. Then we supported a settlement through bilateral negotiation in line with the Simla Agreement. This is an example of China taking care of India's concern," he said.

On India's bid for the membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), he said, "We do not oppose any country's membership, believing that a standard for admission should be agreed upon first."

The envoy also proposed a four-point initiative to improve ties between India and China which includes aligning its 'OBOR' project with India's 'Act East Policy', and restarting negotiations on a free trade pact.

The proposal put forward by Luo includes starting negotiations on a 'China-India Treaty of Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation' and prioritising finding an early solution to the border dispute between the two countries.

"Firstly, start negotiation on a China-India Treaty of Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation. Secondly, restart negotiation of China-India Free Trade Agreement. Thirdly, strive for an early harvest on the border issue. Fourthly, actively explore the feasibility of aligning China's 'One Belt One Road Initiative' (OBOR) and India's 'Act East Policy'," he said. This is a load of codswallop

He said good ties between India and China were conducive to regional stability.

The development of China, India, Pakistan and the stability of the whole region call for a stable and friendly environment, he said.

"Otherwise, how could we open up and develop? That's why we say we are willing to mediate when India and Pakistan have problems. But the precondition is that both India and Pakistan accept it. We do this only out of goodwill. We do hope that there is no problem at all," Luo said.

"When the Mumbai terrorist Attack on November 26, 2008, took place, I was Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, and I did a lot of mediation at that time," he said.

On trade ties between the two countries, Luo said he was happy to see that China had contributed its share to India's development.

"Today, China is the second largest economy in the world, with a GDP of 11 trillion US dollars. China's development also benefited from India's participation," he said.

My Question : Why is China tlying to become India's "Yellowel than Tulmelic Fliend"?

X POSTED on the PESW Thread

Moody's says Pakistan's external debt will increase to $79 billion by June-end

ISLAMABAD: Moody’s Investors Service has predicted that Pakistan’s external debt will grow to $79 billion by June this year, higher than initial estimates suggested, and the country’s weak fiscal strength will weigh in on its ability to afford the ever growing debt burden.

In its latest report, Moody’s Investors Service – the international credit rating agency – said that Pakistan’s challenges include a relatively high general government debt burden, weak physical and social infrastructure, a fragile external payments position and high political risk.

By the end of fiscal year 2016-17, Pakistan’s external debt will increase to $79 billion out of which the public sector component will be $77.7 billion, according to Moody’s. The forecast for the outgoing fiscal year is much higher than what was earlier assessed on the basis of data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The central bank had shown total external debt and liabilities at $74.2 billion by the end of December 2016. This included $64.5 billion external debt.

Image

Moody’s report has shown external debt at $64.4 billion by the end of fiscal year 2013. If the debt grows to $79 billion, it means that an additional $14.6 billion in debt has been added in the past four years alone.

The PML-N government is facing criticism for increasing the country’s debt burden, which is a direct result of low levels of exports and foreign direct investment.

The government’s narrow revenue base weighs on debt affordability and the level of external public debt poses a moderate degree of credit risk, according to the report. Meanwhile, exports and remittance inflows have slowed and capital goods imports have risen, resulting in renewed pressure on the external account.

Moody’s assessed Pakistan’s fiscal strength at negative “(-) Very Low”, which it said was hindering debt affordability and increases the debt burden. It said Pakistan’s limited tax base restricts its fiscal space, while low savings and shallow capital markets hinder stable domestic financing of sizeable budget deficits.

“Very Low (-)” score is below the indicative score of “Very Low”, which reflects that the material foreign currency portion of outstanding government debt (about 30% of total debt) exposes the government’s balance sheet to greater foreign exchange rate risks than currently captured by scorecard metrics,” it said.

The government’s debt burden has steadily increased in the past four years from 63.5% of GDP to 66.5%, Moody’s said. “At 66.5% of GDP, the debt stock is higher than the 52.6% median for B-rated sovereigns and remains a constraint on Pakistan’s fiscal strength.”

Moody’s has retained Pakistan’s position at B3 rating.

“Approximate 30% of foreign currency debt does expose the sovereign (Pakistan) to marked changes in the cost of refinancing debt should the currency weaken abruptly,” according to the report.

Debt affordability metrics, which include interest payments as a percentage of revenues and GDP, have been high in Pakistan relative to the median for B-rated sovereigns, which is a key constraint on the sovereign credit rating.

The credit rating agency acknowledged that Pakistan was addressing this weakness by lengthening debt maturities, through increasing the share of permanent debt and reducing that of floating debt.

However, it said that foreign remittances have so far declined 2.4% and “if remittances continue to decline, it would likely have a negative credit impact by dampening consumption and widening the current account deficit”.

Moody’s has also assessed Pakistan’s susceptibility to event risk as “High,” driven by political risks and government liquidity risks stemming from high gross borrowing needs, due to the government’s large rollover requirements.

It said that large fiscal deficits and a reliance on short-term debt have contributed to very high gross borrowing requirements, which is a key rating constraint. At 32% of GDP, Pakistan’s gross borrowing need in 2017 is the largest among all rated sovereigns, after Egypt.

Like external debt, Moody’s has also projected higher budget deficit for the outgoing fiscal year. “We expect that the fiscal deficit will widen further to about 4.7% of GDP in fiscal year 2017 and 5% in FY 2018 despite the government’s intention to advance fiscal consolidation.”

The National Assembly had approved the budget deficit target at 3.8% of the GDP, which the finance minister has already termed unachievable.

At 4.7% of GDP, budget deficit forecast is even higher than the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) estimates of 4.5%.

The Moody’s said that the wider deficit will be driven by revenue shortfalls due to political pressure to keep current temporary tax breaks in place for the agricultural sector and exporters, and reluctance to increase the sales tax on petroleum products amid rising global oil prices.

In addition, the need to increase development spending – particularly related to CPEC power infrastructure investments – combined with political pressure to maintain power subsidies in advance of the 2018 general election, will likely weigh on the deficit, it added.

The rating agency has also said that the reforms agenda initiated under the IMF programme could be stalled ahead of elections. “We believe structural reforms to PSEs will continue to face political opposition in parliament and through potential labour strikes, therefore, we do not expect the government to follow through with an ambitious post-IMF programme structural reform push in advance of the 2018 general election.”

Pakistan "Upset" Over Indian Ban Against Paki TV in Kashmir

Indian ban on Pakistani TV channels in held Kashmir hits too close to home for some
The state government in Indian-held Jammu and Kashmir has initiated action against 34 television channels beamed from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, reckoning that these channels have the “potential to encourage violence and can disturb law and order situation in Kashmir”.
The latest Indian government order to act against transmission of these channels, which include news, entertainment, food and cuisine, religion and sports channels,(with a good dose of covert and overt propaganda thrown in !) has come nearly two weeks after the government imposed an unprecedented ban on 22 social networking sites in Indian-held Kashmir Valley on April 26.
The channels whose transmission is to be banned, according to the letter, include Noor TV, Karbala TV, Hum TV, ARY Zindagi, Geo News, Geo Tez, Express News, ARY News, ARY Zauq, ARY Masala, ARY Musik, ARY News Asia, ARY Digital Asia, ARY QTV, A TV, Abb Tak News, Waseb TV, 92 News, Duniya News, Samna News, Peace TV English, Peace TV Urdu, Madni Channel, Hadi TV, Paigam, Hidayat, Saudi Al-Sunnah, Al-Nabawiyah, Saudi Al-Quran, Al-Karim, Sehar, Ahli-biat TV and Message TV.
People, especially working women and housewives, spend substantial time in watching Pakistani television serials while some stay glued to the TV screen for learning modern recipes of Pakistani delicacies. And also imbibe Pakistaniyat in the process
Some elderly people who can’t perform Haj due to physical frailties or financial stress often spend their time while watching channels like Saudi Al-Quran, Madni, Noor TV and Hadi TV just to see pictures of Mecca and Masjid-e-Nabvi for spiritual solace. And, in the process pick up the "Wahabi version of Malsi !
For Nausheen, a young Kashmiri working woman, the proposed ban on Pakistani channels is uncalled-for and against the very spirit and idea of globalisation.“No one should have the right to deny facilities available for infotainment, sports or devotion available on television. The government ban is anti-globalisation and essentially undemocratic and authoritarian,” Nausheen tells Dawn.
Another Kashmiri woman argues that many would-be-brides were learning new recipes on Pakistani television, but the government is unfortun ately choking this space too. So, this Pakistani newspaper is being used as a "petition platform " to ask the Govt to reverse its decision
On May 5, journalist Aarti Tikoo Singh wrote in Times of India that “Saudi clerics and Pakistani news anchors are being beamed direct to Kashmiri homes, and are stoking the fires of ‘azadi’.”
“Over 50 Saudi and Pakistani channels, including Zakir Naik’s banned Peace TV preaching Salafist Islam, and others indulging in anti-India propaganda are running without necessary clearance via private cable networks in Kashmir,” she wrote without substantiating her argument.
On May 5, journalist Aarti Tikoo Singh wrote in Times of India that “Saudi clerics and Pakistani news anchors are being beamed direct to Kashmiri homes, and are stoking the fires of ‘azadi’.” Basically, the farticle is a litany of complaints from "everyone" who is addicted to Pakistani and Saudi propaganda and "not happy" about the ban . Pakistan can of course retaliate and ban Indian TV channels from beaming "Hindu propaganda" to the Aam Abduls

"Senile Sartaj" Trying To Pacify "Angry Afghanistan" ; Plays "Good Cop" This Time

Afghanistan asked to use diplomatic channels instead of bullets, says Aziz
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, while commenting on the Afghanistan border attack issue, said “firing on Pakistan was the initiative of Afghanistan that necessitated to be retaliated.”The foreign affairs adviser maintained that that Pakistan has always used the diplomatic channels to resolve issues with its neighbours. “Afghanistan has been asked to use diplomatic channels instead of bullets,” he added.“I feel sorry for what happened in Chaman,” said Aziz. Sartaj is a Pathan! So,it is possible, that the "sorriness" might be genuine
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, while commenting on the Afghanistan border attack issue, said “firing on Pakistan was the initiative of Afghanistan that necessitated to be retaliated. Sartaj is treating Afghanistan like a "little child" . The condescending attitude does not help !
On Sunday, Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan Maj Gen Nadeem Anjum had claimed that 50 Afghan security personnel were killed and another 100 injured as Pakistani forces retaliated to unprovoked firing by Afghan border forces on security personnel in Balochistan's Chaman area last week. The FC Balochistan chief said four or five check posts were also destroyed when Pakistani border guards retaliated to the cross-border attack, adding that Afghanistan pleaded for ceasefire on May 5, which Pakistan accepted. The "boasting" never stops !

Punjab body to help Dubai digitalise its police stations
LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will assist the Dubai police in digitalising their police stations and developing different systems, including cyber security system.A formal request in this regard was made by chief of Dubai police Abdullah Khalifa at a meeting with PITB chairman Dr Umar Saif in Dubai on Sunday.“The board will integrate all surveillance systems with police stations in Dubai. Besides, it will ensure cyber security of financial institutions and other departments, which will be part of a wider security network,” Dr Saif told Dawn from Dubai by phone.
He said that the PITB would develop a crowd monitoring system in connection with Dubai 2020 Expo. It will also digitalise traffic system in Dubai,” Dr Saif said, adding the board would develop all these systems in two years. Indian authorities should take due note and caution the relevant Dubai and UAE Authorities to ensure the integrity of the whole Dubai Police Computer System is not compromised in any way (malware, bugs, hacking ) by this "offer to help" by a notoriously corrupt nation. First, are they up to the task !

Nawaz Sharif Under Intense Pressure And Pak Army Is Flexing Its Muscle According To This Column By Barkha Dutt.

LoCked horns
The telltale signs that the Pakistan army was getting ready to take control of the reins—and quash the Nawaz Sharif government’s tentative attempts at outreach with India—came much earlier than the horrific mutilation of two Indian soldiers at the Line of Control. When the Pakistan military made the shock announcement that former naval officer and Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav would be executed for espionage, both the timing and the message were proof that Pakistan’s deep state had resurfaced to diminish its elected government.
Since then, a string of events appear to be unravelling the slender thread by which the Sharif government is still holding on. The Panama Papers inquiry, in which three of Sharif’s children have been accused of having unaccounted offshore accounts; the opposition furore over a meeting between the Pakistani prime minister and Indian steel magnate Sajjan Jindal (I first broke the story of how Jindal was used in the past as an informal conduit between Sharif and Narendra Modi, even providing cover for a secret meeting between the two leaders in Nepal in 2014); and the open takedown of the Sharif government on Twitter by an officer of the Pakistan army because of a leaked story to the Dawn newspaper join the dots. And there is now a question mark over whether Sharif will be able to complete his term in 2018. If Sharif had hoped that his new army chief would give him more autonomy, that hope has been crushed. Be it Raheel Sharif or Qamar Bajwa, the Pakistan army has openly undermined the Sharif regime and declared its institutional hostility to India.
Before his government was thrown into tumult, Sharif told people who met him that the Indian and Pakistani national security advisers had re-established direct contact and that after Bajwa took over, the LoC had quietened down. Sharif’s optimism that his new military chief would be a moderate has been rudely belied by the beheadings of Indian soldiers; the ambush took place just 24 hours after a visit by the Pakistan army chief to the LoC. Forget breathing space, now Sharif is fighting for political survival. ISPR Ghaffor's "insulting tweet" coupled with Bajwa meeting Nawaz last week, does not bode well for Ganja's political future !
Strictly speaking, none of this is India’s problem. But, as New Delhi calibrates diplomatic and military retaliation for the beheadings, it will have to factor in the civil-military meltdown in what is today one of the world’s most volatile regions. The Modi government also has to be mindful of the turmoil in the Kashmir valley; insurgency and street protests have already opened one front within. Now, with the LoC also erupting in tension, the external and the internal will have to be simultaneously managed, putting pressure on an already stretched security grid.
The challenge for Modi will be to manage public expectation while shielding the Indian Army from the noise and scrutiny of a jingoistic media and hashtag populism, and allowing it enough covert space to wordlessly do what it needs to. While that is a tightrope walk, every leader has to walk. Modi finds himself in an especially piquant situation after going public with the surgical strikes last year. The cross LoC action—taken to avenge the terror attack on an Army camp in Uri—was meant to increase the cost of terrorism for Pakistan and distinguish the more muscular nationalism of the BJP from its predecessors.
The general who led the cross-border strikes, the wise and erudite former Northern Army Commander D.S. Hooda, told me that asking such a question is to miss the point entirely. “Another mutilation, one more grave provocation from Pakistan, and the inevitable question: what did the surgical strikes achieve? My answer is that we crossed an important political and military milestone,” he said. “The government stood up and took clear responsibility for the strike, and we, in Northern Command, grew in confidence about our ability to execute a complex cross-border operation across a heavily guarded LoC. These are huge positives.”
This week, the Army warned television channels against going “ballistic” in reporting on retaliations that it said had not yet taken place and in any case could not be war-gamed in television studios. “Public sensitivity and concern are important; equally, everybody must understand that strategic security is too serious an affair to be played like a T20 match,” warned Lt Gen Subrata Saha, who recently retired as the deputy chief of the army and has served as a top commander in the Kashmir valley. “Visualising contingencies and generating realistic options is a continuous process; at this stage, as professionals, we need to avoid any speculation or public discussion,” he told me.Nor can publicly announced LoC strikes be a classic and fixed template of response. “Surprise is an important principle of war. It’s about ‘appropriate response’, not ‘expected response’,” Saha said.
There are still options for India to pursue: a season of retaliatory artillery fire at the forward posts; closing down trading posts at the border; and deploying coercive and punitive diplomatic measures. “Sentiments are high today, but we should not think of our response options as restricted only to the military,” said Hooda. “The Army will exact its retribution, but a more comprehensive and sustained strategy should be crafted to deal with Pakistan.”The Modi government has never been risk-averse and has broken with precedent in many ways while crafting its Pakistan policy, both while gambling on friendship and in responding to hostility. Now, more than the approach of shock and awe, it will come under pressure to find some more consistency and stability in how to deal with an extremely unstable Islamabad.

Can't we see the agenda of people like her? Every time an Indian retaliation was overdue or looked imminent, these Indians would articulate that 'we must strengthen civilian leadership in Pakistan', 'Indian action would lead to more tension', 'India's fair name would be dented', 'an eye-for-an-eye would lead to a blind world', 'if only talks had not been interrupted by India, it would not have come to such a pass', 'diminishing returns of no-talks strategy' etc. etc.

Voice Of America story on the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s inability to get along with 3 of her 4 neigbours in view of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan indulging in their national past time of fomenting cross border Mohammadden Terrorism particularly of the Sunni Mohammadden variant.

Pakistan Faces Foreign Policy Challenges in Tensions With Neighbors
Recent cross-border attacks and disputes have strained Pakistan's ties with three of its four neighbors, which analysts say are challenging Islamabad's foreign policy strategy. ……………………

“Pakistan is in an unenviable position now in that it faces major security challenges on three of its borders,” Michael Kugelman, a Pakistani affairs specialist at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, told VOA.

Though “the roots of these challenges are all very complex, there's one single theme that animates all of these border disputes: allegations of Pakistani support for militants on its soil that stage cross-border attacks," he said.

Deutsche Welle adds its weight to Voice of America on the theme of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s use of Mohammadden Terrorism against 3 of her 4 neighbours:

Unhappy neighbors - Afghanistan, India, Iran wary of Pakistan's 'jihadist support'
Shia-majority Iran is not the only country in the region that is unhappy with Islamabad's handling of Sunni militants; Afghanistan and India have long accused Pakistan's leadership of backing terrorist organizations which, they claim, are used by the nation's military establishment to create unrest on their soil and gain geopolitical leverage.

Chinese firms violated Pakistan's laws and social customs: Report

BEIJING: Several Chinese firms in Pakistan have violated laws and local social customs of the Islamic nation during the construction of China's $ 46 billion economic corridor, according to a report.

Though there was "unexpected progress" in the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, it still faces plenty of internal and external difficulties, said an article by Zhou Rong and Chen Xiaochen of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies (CIFS) at Renmin University of China.

"Some Chinese enterprises in Pakistan also have shortcomings. They are fond of instant success instead of making long-term plans. Several Chinese enterprises have violated Pakistan's laws and local social customs, which badly damaged the reputation of the Chinese people," it it said.

To solve these problems, the construction of the CPEC requires a long-term plan, it said.

"The Pakistan government is hoping that most of the power station and infrastructure projects can be completed ahead of next year's election. However, this may not be possible according to the construction contractors," it said.

The institute recently launched an intensive research programme to look at the progress and problems of the CPEC construction in Pakistan.

"After assessment, we found that the construction has been unexpectedly fast. Four key areas of cooperation - energy, transport infrastructure, industrial cooperation and Gwadar Port - have made significant progress," it said.

It said that in the face of the huge benefits of the CPEC, miscellaneous political forces all want to have a finger in the pie, which makes the original contradictions even more intensified.

Some decision-makers involved in construction of the corridor have little interest in project construction but great interest in personal gain, ignoring the social benefits of the project, the article added.

"In Pakistan, it is unrealistic to expect to eliminate corruption completely, but we hope it can be constrained as much as possible. In addition, political, environmental and security risks should be minimised by persuading the central government to take care of the interests of all parties," it added.

The CPEC is a planned network of roads, railways and energy projects linking southern Pakistan, and the Gwadar Port, to China's restive Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region. As it passes through the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), India has raised objection to the project

Our Government should not get involved in cases such as this where sharing a common belief causes hormones over-ruling prudence and common sense resulting in downright dangerous behaviour such as marrying cross border spouses originating in the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic Of Pakistan.

Our High Commission should be instructed not to provide shelter or get involved in the affair.

I totally agree we do not have to spend our political capital on this lady's case. It is not as simple as she says. She took a visa to goto Pakistan. Now why would a single muslim lady take visa to visit "a friend" to Pakistan not accompanied by any male relative (shariah compliance) she went will full intent to get married. Only surprise was that post suhag raat she was taken to Abdul's home and she saw the full Islamic family and unlike the romance period in Malaysia she saw Abdul in full Islamic glory. India should make an example of her to warn other wimmens about dangers of trusting Abduls though it will never work. Tavleen Singh did the same thing 30 years ago and many more since

This case does not only offer an opportunity to make an example for warning “wimmens” about trusting cross-border Abduls from the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan by our Government refusing to bail her out of consequences of herown actions but also for making an example for “mens” trusting cross-border Ayeshas from the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan

This case besides provides an opportunity to make space in India for at least 1 of the many long persecuted Non-Mohammaddens who have had the misfortune to be born in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and suffered as Dhimmi’s under Mohammadden belief based persecution.

'Imran Khan's party to sue Nawaz Sharif for taking money from Osama bin Laden [for jihad in Kashmir]' - PTI
Pakistan's opposition leader Imran Khan's party has said it would sue Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for allegedly taking money from Osama bin Laden to promote jihad in Kashmir.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Khan has been demanding resignation from Sharif for alleged corruption.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday that he would file a petition in the Supreme Court seeking admission of a case against Sharif for "taking funds from a foreign individual to destabilise and conspire against democracy in Pakistan", the Express Tribune reported.

The PTI does not possess substantial evidence to fortify its case except for some interviews and excerpts from a book 'Khalid Khawaja: Shaheed-e-Aman' by Shamama Khalid, wife of a former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy Khalid Khawaja, who was brutally murdered in 2010 by Pakistani Taliban.

"Relying on the revelations made in certain interviews and a book, PTI intends to open up a shady chapter in the country's political history from late 1980s in an apparent bid to further malign Sharif," the report said.

The interviews and the book claim that Sharif took money, amounting to Rs 1.5 billion from former al-Qaida chief Laden to promote jihad in Kashmir and Afghanistan, the report said.

They also claim that later, an amount of Rs 270 million from this money was utilised to support a no-confidence move against Bhutto in 1989, the report said.

However in 2013, PTI leader Masood Sharif Khan Khattak - who is a former director general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) - had submitted a statement before the Supreme Court in a case related to misappropriation of the IB funds in 1989.

In his nine-page statement, Khattak had claimed that the moving force behind the vote of no-confidence against Bhutto in 1989 was not political and named former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan and former army chief Mirza Aslam Baig, claiming that they wanted to keep Bhutto out of power, the report said.

Chaudhry, meanwhile said, "In the past, Sharif remained an active part of several conspiracies against the elected governments".

Last week, the PTI announced to open up another legal front against Sharif, saying it would file a petition demanding implementation on a 2012 verdict of the apex court in the Asghar Khan case which determined that Sharif and other politicians had received money from an intelligence agency prior to the 1990 general election to form an alliance against the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Immy-the-Dummy is so desperate for power that he is talking nonsense as usual:
  • How can fighting a jihad be immoral?
  • How can taking any funding from any source to fight a jihad against the only mortal enemy of Pakistan be even more so immoral?
  • Isn't Osama bin Laden the greatest mard-e-momin? (If in doubt, Immy should ask Pakistanis) (The JUI-F members and the entire Opposition, including Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N party, offered condolence to Osama bin Laden in the National Assembly after his death.)
  • Isn't Immy committing a blasphemy when he accuses another Muslim of 'promoting jihad' as though it is something haraam & mamnooh? Isn't it an obligation for every momin?
It is better if Immy-the-Dummy does not go anywhere near that question of "taking funds from a foreign individual to destabilise and conspire against democracy in Pakistan" (by which he is referring to the anti-Benazir campaign etc). It was the Pakistani Army Chief Mirza Aslam Beg who mounted ‘Operation Midnight Jackal’ along with the ISI and the then President Ghulam Ishaq Dar to dislodge the Prime Minister, Ms. Benazir Bhutto, because he felt that the government’s policies did not synchronize with the objectives of the military. It has long been been revealed by the former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director Malik Mumtaz in c. 2009 that Operation Midnight Jackal was funded by Osama bin Laden and executed by the ISI. Gen. Musharraf has freely admitted to the fact that Ms. Benazir Bhutto was unpopular with the Army

Not Just India, Neighbours Iran And Afghanistan Too Accuse Pakistan Of Exporting Terrorists To Their Countries

Pakistan's support to terrorist organisations operating in Kashmir is not a secret. The country, for decades, has funded trained and sheltered terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad as well as Hizbul Mujahideen only for the fact that is anti-India.

But India is not just the only country in the region that Pakistan has been 'exporting' terrorism. The Afghan Taliban which terrorised that country since the 90s was trained and supported by Islamabad, and still, it remains so.
Another country which as levelled allegations against Pakistan is Iran.

Top military official in Tehran have warned Islamabad of reprisals for sheltering Sunni militias attacking targets in Iran
Terrorist

Iran's warning that it might be considering its version of "surgical strikes" comes after 10 of its border guards were killed by a group identified as Jaish-al-Adl which Tehran believes is sheltered in Pakistan.

Iran has echoed the charge frequently levelled by Afghanistan and India. Successive Afghan regimes have held Pakistan responsible for the resurgence of Taliban which has attacked development projects, kidnapped foreign nationals and sought to impose hardline Islam in its territory.

The doctrine is linked to Pakistan's India strategy where its army and ISI arm and despatch terrorists for terrorist strikes in J&K and the rest of India. A dense network of "friendly" jihadi organisations operate in Pakistan and Afghanistan and train fighters for assignments in India.

I am sure MEA will milk this case for what it is worth. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Already comments on Dawn are grudgingly admiring Indian stance at going all out to help a muslim citizen of India. No political capital will be expended. It is a domestic/women's rights case which means it will even get some support from the Pakis - in fact they may wish to put a quick end to avoid bad publicity.

Immy's Battle With Ganja Heats Up

CDA declares construction of Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence illegal
ISLAMABAD: Construction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence was declared illegal by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday.A report was submitted by CDA in Supreme Court which stated that the authority has declared 122 buildings illegal which included Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence. It said that the construction was against the regulations of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
SC on Monday had issued a notice to Imran Khan, asking where he got the amount from to buy his Bani Gala house. So, Ganja is using the same (discredited) Paki Supreme Court to get back at Imran . Now, it will be question of who will bring the "bigger safirish" to the table; Ganja and Shahbaz ; or will Immy ask his Fauji friends to get him out of this artificial bureaucratic tangle; will his "palace" in Bani Gala be razed to the ground like a common "Jupar-pati"; will he become "homeless" ? lots of interesting questions
A Civil Miscellaneous Application submitted to the court stated that an amount of US$660,693 was transferred by Imran's ex-wife Jemima to the account of Rashid Ali Khan in Citibank, the operations of which have now ended, during 2002-2003. In one of his statements, Imran had said he had taken a loan from Jemima for his Bani Gala residence. The ownership of the issue remained unclear because the money Imran needed to complete the payment was around Rs30 million, while the amount transferred during that period was more than that was required. Therefore, in the CMA it has been requested that the court provide the statement of Jemima's bank in the United Kingdom and remittance confirmed by her. The bank details of Imran and Rashid Ali have also been asked for. So, the Kaptaan is facing his own "Panamagate" scandal. And does not appear to be squeaky- clean as he appears to be
The details on Imran's income and wealth taxes of 2001-2005 have also been demanded. After 2002, Imran formally became a member of the National Assembly, which is why it was essential for him to clarify his wealth matters.A case is also present in the court of Election Commission of Pakistan, in which Imran has been accused of running his party on foreign funding. Not to mention that his "favourite" election symbol - a bat (not the animal !) has been denied to him "just because he failed to hold internal party election ". The Oxford-educated Imran has lived enough in Pakistan to know that West-minister style democracy is "impossible" in Pakiland . And forget about getting "justice" from the Paki Supreme Court, as shown by their "timid" judgement , when it came to dispatch Ganja to the gallows for massive corruption

Making out at 30000ft
According to our correspondent Salahuddin, the pilot was trying to befriend the Chinese lady and even sought her feedback about the cockpit visit and flight after landing at the airport.

It’s reported that the woman allegedly stayed inside the cockpit for about couple if hours, and got back to her seat after the plane touched down on the airport.
On Twitter, folks are saying that the pilot literally gave a tour of his cock-pit.

Disgraced Paki Airline "Having Another Bad Day "
PIA pilot endangers lives, invites unauthorised woman into cockpit
ISLAMABAD: Another pilot of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been accused of endangering the lives of his passengers and risking security after he allowed an unauthorised foreign national into the cockpit during landing.Captain Shahzad Aziz, the PIA pilot in question, invited a young Chinese woman during PIA flight PK-853 from Tokyo to Beijing earlier this week into the cockpit, according to a Geo News correspondent flying on the same plane. Thank Allah, the women was "Chinese" and not "Indian"!
he woman, who was not authorised into the cabin area, stayed inside the cockpit with the pilot and first officer for over two hours, coming out only after the plane landed. At one point during the two hours, the woman was in the cockpit alone with just the pilot. Can "evidence" be obtained from CCTV camera , if any hanky-panky was going on
Geo News correspondent Irfan Siddiqui, who happened to be flying on the same plane, recorded video of the incident with his mobile phone. The young woman declined to give any comments when Siddiqui asked her if she was a friend or relative of the pilot's.PIA said it was trying to get in touch with the flight crew over the reported incident. So, the "Geo guy" has scored a scoop with yet another "bad story" about PIA at the cost of the Echendee of Pakistan
According to law, unauthorised persons are not allowed into the cockpit at any time during flights as it is a safety hazard, with the responsibility lying with the pilot to ensure that no unauthorised person enters the restricted part of the aircraft. However, responding to the report, a PIA spokesperson said inviting a single passenger into the cockpit was not a security concern.
Last month, PIA launched an investigation against a senior pilot operating an Islamabad-to-London flight (PK-785) after he was accused of handing over the aircraft to an under-training pilot following take-off and taking a two-and-a-half-hour nap in the passenger compartment.According PIA spokesperson Danyal Gilani, Captain Amir Hashmi has been taken off flying duty due to the ongoing investigation. In December 2015, a PIA pilot faced an inquiry for allowing Reham Khan, the ex-wife of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, to sit in the cockpit during her journey to Lahore from London.
. And these are only the one's "caught in the act" , which got reported !For every "misdeed" or violation of air safety that gets "bad publicity" , there are dozens that go unreported ! PIA management should establish a "hot line" with a reward system to "encourage" airplane passenger safety

We signed a proper contract with India, not an MoU: Shaharyar
“We have received a reply from the BCCI about our notice sent to them for not fulfilling the contract and because of it the PCB has suffered huge financial losses. The BCCI’s reply has two objections,” Shaharyar told Dawn from Karachi. “Firstly, there is no term is included in the contract under which the word of government’s permission is mentioned as necessary. Secondly, it was not an MoU but a contract as India sought PCB’s support for the Big Three formula, from which it earned huge revenue as a member of Big Three.“Our benefit was only if the bilateral series would have started, which could not be happened, causing us massive losses. They want money from India, pure and simple . And they won't get it
They are trying to "get money" from where they can ( see below) "Old news" but still relevant , due to their "poverty" !

IMO, Pakistan Foreign Policy and Pakistan Foreign Office is in total shambles; part of this is due to the absence of a full -time foreign minister; from the following, it would seem that Pakistan is being (diplomatically ) attacked by Iran, Afghanistan and even "talller than mountain fliend" China :

Tehran's warning against spirit of Pak-Iran brotherly relations, FO tells envoy

Afghanistan asked to use diplomatic channels instead of bullets, says Aziz

China invites India to join One-Belt-One-Road project

Is it because the COAS of the Paki Army is also the Foreign Minister Of Pakistan

Quite literally taller than the mountains. Sweeter than honey - probably for the sex starved Paki. Negligence on PIA combined with poor maintenance and shortage of funds, deeper than the ocean might also not be far away.

She herself is divorced with a daughter
Once she reached Pakistan she realized this was not how she imagined things would be, food, customs & language were foreign

She talked to her brother and asked for help. He told her to approach Indian High Comission
She talked Tahir that we need to have a function in India and lets get your Indian visa.
When they walked into consulate. IHC was already briefed on the case and so they took her inside

Pakistan' s Growing Diplomatic Isolation "And Not Getting Along With Neighbours" Being Noticed By Foreign Media .

Unhappy neighbors - Afghanistan, India, Iran wary of Pakistan's 'jihadist support'
Iran has warned it would target militant hideouts inside Pakistan if Islamabad doesn't act against Sunni jihadists. Pakistan's other two neighbors - Afghanistan and India - also accuse Islamabad of backing terrorists.
Keeping aside diplomatic niceties, Iran has reacted in the strictest possible manner against Sunni militants' activities along its southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, bordering Pakistan.Jaish al Adl (the Army of Justice), a Sunni militant group based in Pakistan, killed at least ten Iranian border guards last month. The guards were shot with long-range guns, fired from inside Pakistan.Jaish al Adl has previously claimed responsibility for attacks that killed Iranian troops in 2013 and 2015. The anti-Iran and anti-Shiite militant group is fighting against what it says is discrimination against Sunni Muslims in Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan province. Sunni militant groups consider Shiites as apostates.
On Monday, May 8, Iran's army chief said Pakistan must confront Sunni militants or his country would hit their bases itself."We cannot accept the continuation of this situation," Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the head of the Iranian armed forces, was quoted as saying by state news agency IRNA."We expect the Pakistani officials to control the borders, arrest the terrorists and shut down their bases," Baqeri added."If the terrorist attacks continue, we will hit their safe havens and cells, wherever they are," he said.Last week, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif visited Islamabad and asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to improve border security. Islamabad promised to deploy additional troops along the Pakistani-Iranian frontier.
Iranian-Pakistani relations have been tense for quite some time, but lately there has been a sharp rise in hostility between the two neighboring countries. Experts say that Islamabad's alleged support to Sunni militant groups, most of which operate freely inside Pakistan, is one of the reasons behind the deteriorating ties.
Sattar Khan, DW's correspondent, reports from Islamabad that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government has undertaken a diplomatic initiative to allay Tehran's concerns following Raheel Sharif's controversial appointment. But the efforts are unlikely to yield results, says Khan."Saudi Arabia and Iran do not trust each other. Also, Riyadh does not want Islamabad to be neutral in the conflict; it wants its full support. In this scenario, how can Pakistan's diplomatic drive be successful?" Aman Memon, a former professor at the Allama Iqbal Open University in Islamabad, told DW.
In 2015, Riyadh formally requested Pakistan to provide combat planes, warships and soldiers to support the Arab coalition in fighting Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. But the South Asian country's lawmakers voted to remain neutral in the conflict, albeit PM Sharif later clarified in a televised speech that in the case of an aggression against Saudi Arabia, Pakistan would take Riyadh's side.Saudi Arabia, which is one of Pakistan's biggest financers, was unhappy with Islamabad's reluctance to join the coalition against Yemen's Shiite rebels. The Arab kingdom has been involved in a two-year-long campaign of airstrikes against Houthi rebels, who have taken over swathes of territory in Saudi Arabia's southern neighborhood, raising concerns in Riyadh about a potential Shiite uprising in the kingdom. Saudi Arabia also fears that Iran is working to increase its influence in the region.Experts say that Pakistan's economic dependence on the Arabian country is also a reason behind its support for Riyadh and Raheel Sharif's appointment. They claim that Pakistan already has troops in Saudi Arabia in an assisting role. But with Sharif taking charge of the alliance, the troops could be directly involved in the battle.
"For Pakistan's Islamic fundamentalists, the country is already a 'Sunni Wall' against Shiite Iran," Siegfried O. Wolf, an expert at the University of Heidelberg's South Asia Institute, told DW in an interview."The policy of containing the Shiite influence in the region was seriously affected after the collapse of the Sunni Taliban regime in Afghanistan in 2001 and the subsequent overthrow of Saddam Hussein's government in Iraq. These events created a power vacuum which is now being increasingly filled by Tehran. Saudi Arabia does not want to see the rise of Iran and will continue to do anything to ensure Sunni dominance," he underlined.
It was and it still is standard practice in Pakistan to dismiss all negative reports about the Islamic country as being generated by Zionist and Jewish interest to malign the country, because it is the first and only Islamic nuclear power in the whole world

Put On Hold Kulbhushan Jadhav's Execution, International Court Tells Pak
New Delhi: The International Court of Justice in Hague, Netherlands, has asked Pakistan to put on hold its death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav,an Indian national it accused of spying. A letter has been sent to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ( should have been sent to "real PM" COAS - Bajwa !) official sources said.
The International Court's response came after India filed an appeal on Monday, accusing Pakistan of "egregious violations of the Vienna Convention" and seeking a stay on Mr Jadhav's execution. Mr Jadhav, a retired Naval officer, was kidnapped from Iran, where he was running a business, India said. In its appeal, India also said if Pakistan is unable to annul its decision to execute Mr Jadhav, the court should declare the decision "illegal".
External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who met Bert Koenders, the visiting foreign minister of Netherlands this morning, tweeted that she has already spoken to Mr Jadhav's mother and informed her of the International Court's order.
Mr Jadhav's mother filed an appeal at a higher court asking fr his release, after Pakistan turned down India's repeated requests for consular access to Mr Jadhav. In the appeal to the international court, India mentioned the lack of consular access and said it found out about Mr Jadhav's death sentence from a press release. Pakistan had contended that consular access is given only to civilian prisoners under a 2008 agreement. Since Mr Jadhav had been caught spying, he was not entitled to consular access, Pakistan contended.Pakistan had claimed that Mr Jadhav was arrested on March 3, 2016, from the restive Balochistan province. Last month, a military court sentenced him to death, alleging he was working as a spy for intel agency Research and Analysis Wing or RAW. Pakistan also claimed that he was "a serving officer in the Indian Navy". Days after his arrest, the Pakistan army had released a video in which he was seen admitting to the claims made by Pakistan. India has rubbished the claims.

Senate body calls for Ehsanullah Ehsan’s hanging
ISLAMABAD: The Senate’s Committee on Interior on Monday demanded hanging of Ehsanullah Ehsan arguing that a cruel person like Ehsanullah Ehsan deserved no mercy who had proudly claimed responsibility for killing thousands of innocent Pakistani civilians and troops.
he meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control was held with its Chairman Senator A Rehman Malik in the chair here on Monday. Talking on the issue of Ehsanullah Ehsan, Rehman Malik said that the credit went to the Pakistan Army and its Operation Radul Fasaad that forced the worst terrorist like Ehsan to surrender.
He said that a cruel person like Ehsan deserved no mercy as he had proudly claimed responsibility for killing of thousands of innocent Pakistani civilians and troops. ( But did not came out and stated that it all done "on the behest of India" ) He said that he was astonished that worst and brutal killer Ehsanullah Ehsan had no shame and remorse for his heinous crimes.
He further directed that the committee should be briefed about him in the next meeting. Why depend on "secondary , second hand sources", when he can ask ISPR Chief Ghafoor to explain this matter !
He said that he wants to tell the enemies of Pakistan and humanity that he is afraid of none but Allah, and he will continue to speak against terrorists and anti-Pakistan elements till the last breath of his life. He stressed that stringent actions must be taken against those Nadra and other government departments officials who were found involved or abetment in issuance of CNICs to Afghan nationals.
He,is just a PPP senator now and not Interior Minister . He is out of the decision making loop and just making a few noises here and there
