Who was the attacker?

No details are yet known, although eyewitnesses described seeing an Asian man in his 40s carrying a knife.

World Bank tribunal rules against Pakistan in Reko Diq project case
Schadunfreudern News Ntwork
An arbitration tribunal of the World Bank's International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has ruled against the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in relation to the unlawful denial of a mining lease for the Reko Diq project in 2011, Chilean mining company Antofagasta plc announced on Tuesday. From March 22, the tribunal will start assessing the damages that are to be paid by Pakistan to TCC. The tribunal will consider both parties' claims to determine the amount that Pakistan must pay.A ruling on the amount of damages to be paid is expected in 2018, the company said."We are pleased with this decision and now the damages phase of the arbitration can begin. We expect that, at the conclusion of this phase, Tethyan will receive an award entitling it to the fair market value of the project at the time that the mining lease application was denied," Antofagasta's chief executive officer, Iván Arriagada, said.

Child sexual abuse increased by 10pc in last year, says NGO
The number of reported child sexual abuse cases in Pakistan has risen by 10 per cent in the last year, with roughly 11 children abused every day, according to a report released on Wednesday by non-government organisation (NGO) Sahil.

Sahil said in the report that a total of 4,139 cases were registered in 2016, an increase from 3,768 in 2015.

The report added that 2,410 girls and 1,729 boys were victims of sexual exploitation last year.

Some 45pc of the victims were between the ages of six and 15.

Porkland is a gift that keeps on giving. Sickular bbc made sure to give a sickular headline to the story. Within a min of reading you get a feel of "that $h!ts getting old" or "oh, thats legit.. moving on"

Spear-phishing scammer demanded sex show

"Hey babe," it began.
The friend asked Zed to vote for her in an online modelling competition, which she agreed to do.
But then - disaster. Adding her email address to the competition register had caused a tech meltdown, her friend said. She needed to borrow her email log-in to fix it quickly and restore her votes.
Zed was unsure. The friend begged - her career was at stake, she pleaded. Still in the meeting and powerless to make a call, Zed gave in - a momentary leap of faith.
Except it was not her friend that she was talking to - someone else had got into the account and was pretending to be her.
Here comes that moment...
Then a man called. The number had a Pakistan area code.
And more..
He accused her of leading an "immoral" life. He had seen her photographs, he knew she had smoked and had boyfriends and was sexually active.
He asked her what her parents would think and was furious when she said they already knew.
..
..
..
"I offered him money. I asked if I could pay. He said, 'Don't talk about money.' He sounded irritated," she said.
Instead, he wanted her to perform a sex act for him on camera.
Zed refused.
"Either you do it for me or you do it for the whole world," he told her - and uploaded one of the photos to Facebook.
Wah! We have an ijjlamic daredevil spreading righteousness.. while maalishing his mijjle.. best win-win ever..

Zed does not consider herself to be digitally naive. She is a bright, articulate 20-something from India who works in the media industry on the US east coast.
Lets face it..Paki radicalization has been a stunning success..

Paki Ayeshas To Get Their Own Taxis :D

Women-only ‘pink taxis’ to hit streets of Pakistan
Women in Pakistan's commercial hub Karachi are set to ride taxis driven by women in an initiative to protect female customers from the sexual harassment they commonly face when travelling around the teeming city. Women only taxis are no guarantee from harassement in sex deprived Pakistan
From Thursday, women will be able to call the cab service - called Pink Taxi ( "pink" is the universal colour of "gayness"; is the "educated segment" of the Islamic Brigade comfortable with this colour  ) - by phone, a mobile app, SMS or simply by hailing one on the street, said Ambreen Sheikh, who is launching the service with her husband Zahid Sheikh.
“Our pilots (drivers) wear a pink scarf and black coat as their uniform. They include housewives, young women and students,” Sheikh told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by phone after the soft launch of the service. Why not burkha or hijab for these female Ayeshas to preserve and protect their "modesty" as per the tenets of Malsi !
Commuting in the sweltering city of 20 million is often an ordeal for women. A report by Karachi's Urban Resource Center found most female commuters experience some form of sexual harassment while using public transport. First of all, is it even "halal" for women to travel ; does not "The Book " say that their place is at Home With The Hubby - 24/7
Noor Jehan, a newly recruited Pink Taxi driver, ( does she have a "proper licence" ; is the car covered for insurance in case.... ) first worked as a maid and then as a driver for her female employer. She said there was a need for such a service as most women “think thrice” before getting in a vehicle driven by a man.
The majority of women in conservative Pakistan do not participate in the workforce, with a lack of safe transportation one of the main obstacles, according to a study by the International Labour Organisation. ( and followed by a Funding Request !)
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, minister for transport in Sindh province where Karachi is located, acknowledged that women faced hostility and harassment when using public transport.“Having a mode of public transport catering to them alone can solve many of their transport issues,” :(( he said on Pakistani television.
But Zebunnisa Burki, a Karachi-based journalist, said many women in the city cannot afford to take taxis. ("Service" is for rich Ayeshas only :D )“Women-focused transport initiatives are important in that they serve a growing demographic of mobile women,” she said by email.
Sheikh said the Pink Taxi service would be extended to the cities of Lahore and Islamabad in the next three to four months, followed by other parts of the country. Sincerely hope that this "service" does not turn out to be some sort of a scam for which Pakis are "famous"

Peshawar High Court orders to include Sikhism in census form

Just like the "gamechanger" CPEC, someone in the "Bureaucratic Corridors Of Isloo" was sleeping at his job ( or was absent from same !) and "forgot" to do Due Diligence on this important national exercise; no wonders, the Sikhs of KP are incensed at this negligence

PS: Or it was a deliberate decision - made to ignore Sikhism as a religion !

Ahem!
Much fun times are ahead with the Paki census being conducted after 30 years.
All Masli, state, tribe and pakjabi vs the rest related issues apart, there is a new problem that is going to crop up.
All the census data collectors are male!

Aaah! Imagine the scenario....
The mard of the house has gone to earn the daily bread (nay aalu-ande-gosht)
The khatoons and her daughters are alone at home....
Mard-e-momeens are prowling all over town, collecting census data on a long and complicated form...

How can anything go wrong hain ji?

This is going to be an epic 400% suck-cess-fool census I can see already :rotfl:

sum wrote:^^ WHat is the reason for such security and general fear of conducting a Census in TSP-land?
As for security, one can list a few reasons. Pakistan is a paranoid state that suffers from insecurity, either real or mostly imagined (imagined for a purpose, though). Both Polio vaccinators and Census officials are easy prey as they can be easily targetted. The two large factions of the erstwhile TTP, namely JA (Jama'at-ut-Ahrar) and the Fazlullah-led remnants, are fiercely opposed to the state of affairs in Pakistan and have been attacking State institutions. They are being helped by LeJ, HuJI et al. They may do some mischief.

As for fear, we must recall what Nawaz Sharif said when he stopped the census as soon as he launched it in c. 2014. He said that the census could lead to instability and challenge the integrity of Pakistan itself (paraphrased). The completely discontented Balochistan, Sind and KP would be even more aggravated when the results of the Census are eventually announced because it might show even more dominance of the Punjabis, population-wise. As resources are allocated from the central pool based on population, Punjab will garner more in the years ahead. This is a vicious cycle. Then, there are sub nationalists like Seraikki et al whose now-dormant voice may raise once again.

If they were using mobile laptops for the census, I would expect them to be directly entering data into the laptop instead of on paper as it appears they are doing.

Perhaps the large bag is more of a messenger bag holding the census forms.

Since this picture was released to the media, one can safely assume that this is Pakistan trying to pretend to be a normal country conducting a normal census. So mundane and such an important civic activity, that people take for granted in the sensible world.

But mulahza farmaiye heiyar:
Image Image

Notice how census chacha is marking "M", "Q", "K" on the door of each house, much like their ancestors did in Ali-Baba-40-pious-abduls, when they conducted their own census back in the day.
M stands for Momeen, Q for ... and K for ...

Pakistan's Economy In Need Of "Urgent Repair" As Per This "Self Appointed Expert "

The economy
Pakistan’s internal economy is rupee denominated and our external economy is dollar denominated. Pakistan’s external economy comprises the entire stream of dollar inflows and dollar outflows. Here’s the record on imports or dollar outflows: Our imports have gone up from $35 billion a year five years ago to nearly $45 billion a year. That’s an increase of 28 percent in five years. Paki Macro Economic Stats 101 !
Red alert: Our exports – or dollar inflows – have gone down from $25 billion a year five years ago to $20 billion a year. That’s a decrease of 20 percent in five years. And on top of all that, dollars coming back to Pakistan from Pakistanis working abroad are also trending downwards. No wonder our current account deficit – which is the sum of all dollar inflows and outflows – deteriorated by over 90 percent during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (compared to the same period last year). The bearer of "gloom and doom" news in direct contradiction to the Ganja Sharif crony Finance Minister who is predicting "rosy days" for the Paki economy
Red alert: Our foreign exchange reserves – built up largely by high interest rate loans – are falling; and falling fast. Over the past few months, reserves have fallen from around $19 billion to a current level of under $17 billion. If the trend continues – especially when international oil prices have doubled over the past year – we would be forced to go back to the IMF by early-2018. Nothing new here ; past track record clearly shows that without US and World Moolah, Pakistan could collapse overnite !
Yes, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is now being presented as the panacea – a solution to all our difficulties including falling exports and declining foreign exchange reserves. Red alert: Assuming that some $35 billion of Chinese loans is utilised for energy projects, Pakistan’s annual financing burden will go up to $5.3 billion a year plus an insurance premium of $2 billion upfront. No problem ! Pakistan is ready to "open its "experienced" legs to the New Sugar Daddy
To be certain, our march back to yet another IMF rescue package has begun. The external sector of our economy is weakening by the day. Yes, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has shown “concern over the widening of the current account deficit” but the government lacks either the capacity or the will-or both-to turn the tide via a policy response. Yes, the SBP held a meeting with the heads of all major banks in the country to “improve their capacity to control money laundering” in the amount of $10 billion a year but that’s the farthest that the SBP is willing to go.
The writer is a columnist based in Islamabad.
With such "doom and gloom" being predicted by this "expert", it is high time that he should make plans to leave this sinking shop / ship and try to worm his way abroad by hook or by crook

You guys are pessimistic people, because you are Hindu with dark hearts and hate TSP, in truth, the world thinks this:
Pakistan’s Spate of Terrorist Attacks Threatens Its Surprising Economic Progress
This new instability could undo Pakistan’s recent economic gains,
Instability would also affect investor confidence in Pakistan, where foreign direct investment grew more than 10 percent between July 2016 and February 2017 to $1.28 billion, with Bloomberg ranking the Pakistan Stock Exchange as the fifth-best performing stock market in the world last year—and the best in Asia. The boost in investment has mainly stemmed from an improvement in the security situation, as well as China’s involvement in CPEC and other prominent development deals.
that article references this Beyond the headlines of terrorism, Pakistan’s economy is on the rise
... Look beyond the headlines and see Pakistan today. It boasted the best stock market in Asia in 2016. The high-flying Karachi Stock Exchange Index is up more than 52 percent over the past year — and rising. The exchange broke through the vaunted 50,000 mark last month — a first in history. What’s more, Pakistan is winning plaudits from the International Monetary Fund, and its economy is forecast for a healthy 5.2 percent growth rate in 2017, according to the World Bank.
Three key factors are driving Pakistan’s economic awakening: an improved security climate even despite the most recent attack, relative political stability and a growing middle class. These three interlocking pieces are fueling Pakistan’s growth story
In mid-May, the world’s largest research-based provider of index funds, MSCI, will officially “graduate” Pakistan from its frontier-market category to the more prestigious — and well-capitalized — “emerging market” index. It will join 23 other countries on the index that represents 10 percent of world capitalization.
Robust middle classes are vital to healthy societies and growing economies, and Pakistan’s middle class may have reached a tipping point, with some estimates suggesting that it accounts for more than half the population. Brookings Institution scholar Homi Kharas argues that Pakistan’s consumer middle-class market could hit $1 trillion by 2030
Ishrat Husain, former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, told me that middle classes are driving impressive 25 percent rates of return for large multinational consumer companies such as Nestle and Procter & Gamble, and that the middle-class growth is sparking increased production of cement, steel, automobiles and the like. He sees it as one of the key reasons for current bullishness on Pakistan.
Enter China. Pakistan’s giant neighbor has pledged a whopping $46 billion program to build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that will build new highways, overhaul railway and create new infrastructure to support 10,000 megawatts of additional power.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - March 17, 2017

1. ISIS claims terror attack near UK Parliament; 8 arrested in raids

LONDON: Eight people were arrested in raids across London and Birmingham today after a terror attack near the UK Parliament in the heart of Westminster killed four people, including the ISIS attacker who was inspired by "Islamist ideology" and known to British secret services.

"We are not afraid...An act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy, but today we meet as normal," Prime Minister Theresa May told the packed House of Commons which reopened on Thursday with a minute's silence a day after the attack.

"What I can confirm is that the man was British born and that - some years ago - he was once investigated in relation to concerns about violent extremism. He was a peripheral figure," she told sombre-looking lawmakers.

Three people were killed and 40 injured when the attacker mowed down pedestrians on a bridge and stabbed to death a police officer outside parliament complex before being shot dead by Scotland Yard officers yesterday.

"It is still believed that this attacker acted alone, and the police have no reason to believe there are imminent further attacks on the public. His identity is known to the police and MI5, and when operational considerations allow, he will be publicly identified. Our working assumption is that the attacker was inspired by Islamist ideology," May said.

Meanwhile, the ISIS on its propaganda news agency 'Amaq' claimed responsibility, saying a "Soldier of the Caliphate" carried out the attack on the British Parliament.

"The operation was carried out in response to calls to target coalition countries," it said in a statement.

The Prime Minister confirmed that eight people have been arrested during raids across London and Birmingham following the attack on the Palace of Westminster in London, which houses Britain's Parliament and the iconic Big Ben.

In her message to the police, British Queen Elizabeth II said, "My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy are with all those who have been affected by yesterday's awful violence."

May said the threat level to the UK has been set at 'severe' - meaning an attack is highly likely - for some time. This is the second highest threat level. The highest level 'critical' means there is specific intelligence that an attack is imminent.

"As there is no such intelligence, the independent Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has decided that the threat level will not change in the light of yesterday's attack," she said.

Giving details known about the attack, May said a single attacker drove his vehicle at speed into innocent pedestrians who were crossing Westminster Bridge, killing two people and injuring around 40 more, of which 29 were hospitalised.

The attacker then left the vehicle and approached a police officer at Carriage Gates of Parliament, attacking him with a large knife, before he was shot dead by an officer.

In addition to 12 Britons admitted to hospital, the injured include three French children, two Romanians, four South Koreans, one German, one Pole, one Irish, one Chinese, one Italian, one American and two Greeks.

"There was no prior intelligence of attacker's intent - or of the plot. Intensive investigations continue," May said.

She also paid tribute to the security services and the police officer who lost his life in the attack.

"Yesterday we saw the worst of humanity, but we will remember the best. We will remember the extraordinary efforts to save the life of Police Constable Keith Palmer. He was every inch a hero," she said.

Scotland Yard Acting Deputy Commissioner and Head of Counter Terrorism Mark Rowley said the investigation was at a critical stage and the identity of the attacker was not being released as the ongoing investigation tries to piece together the suspect's "motivations, his preparation and associates".

He urged the public to use their instincts and report anything suspicious, saying the Met Police will be working round the clock and all annual leave has been cancelled.

"We must not allow terrorists to create discord, distrust and fear. The police stand with all communities," Rowley said.
Overnight, West Midland Police officers stormed a second-floor flat in the city believed to be the residence of the knife-wielding attacker and led away people in handcuffs.

It has also emerged that the car used in the attack was reportedly hired from Solihull area of Birmingham.

The flag at New Scotland Yard premises in London is flying at half-mast following the attack, which claimed the life of one of their officers who was on guard at Parliament.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan today invited all Londoners and visitors to the capital to a candlelit vigil in Trafalgar Square to show solidarity with the victims of the attack.

2. Isis claim responsibility for Westminster terror attack

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s deadly terror attack in Westminster. Isis described the man involved – a British-born jihadist – as a ‘soldier of Islamic State’. The terror group released a short statement, saying:

‘The attacker yesterday in front of the British Parliament in London was a solider of the Islamic State, executing the operation in response to calls to target citizens of coalition nations’.

The statement from Isis was published by the Amaq News Agency, a propaganda outlet with links to the organisation. Despite claiming responsibility for the attack, however, Isis released no further details about the man involved. Charlie Winter, an analyst of Islamic State’s social media, said the group’s statement suggested the attack had been ‘inspired’ rather than ‘directed’ by the organisation.

Isis said it was behind the attack some eighteen hours after the incident unfolded yesterday afternoon. This morning, the Prime Minister, Theresa May, told MPs that the man responsible had previously been on MI5’s radar ‘in relation to concerns about violent extremism’, but ‘was not part of the current intelligence picture’.

Discredited Airline Exempted From US Ban :P

PIA looks to capitalise on electronics ban on US-bound flights :rotfl:
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday seemed to be looking at grabbing some market share from its Middle Eastern competition. In a Twitter post, the national flag carrier reminded prospective passengers that it remains unaffected by a recent ban on passengers carrying electronic items on US and UK-bound flights."Did you know? You can carry your laptop/tablets onboard US bound #PIA flights," the airline tweeted.
Will the laptop arrive safe at destination ; will the passenger and the laptop be exempted from "special treatment" by Homeland Security
Earlier this week, the US had announced a ban on large electronic devices such as laptops or cameras on board flights from up to a dozen Middle East nations.Passengers flying to the United States from 10 airports will be allowed only cellphones and smartphones in the passenger cabins, senior Trump administration officials said. Larger electronic items must be checked. The electronics ban affects flights from international airports in Amman, Jordan; Kuwait City, Kuwait; Cairo, Egypt; Istanbul, Turkey; Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Casablanca, Morocco; Doha, Qatar; and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The rules took effect early Tuesday morning and airlines will have until 3am Saturday to implement them or face being barred from flying to the United States, the officials said.

Indonesia - The World's Largest Muslim Nation - Puts Pakistanis On Visa Restriction List :D

Pakistan asks Indonesia to ease visa restrictions
Tama Salim and Ina Parlina
The Jakarta Post
Pakistan insists that its bilateral relationship with Indonesia will flourish if the two countries find a solution to the strict visa requirements that have been placed against Pakistanis.“Unfortunately and for unknown reasons, [the Indonesian government has] placed Pakistan on a very restrictive visa list that makes traveling to Indonesia very difficult,” Pakistani Ambassador Aqil Nadeem told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday ahead of the 70th anniversary of Pakistan National Day, which falls on March 23.The envoy insisted that the policy was “really impacting” peopleto-people contact between the two countries, who have otherwise met challenges in increasing balanced trade relations. One definition of a diplomat " A person who lies for the benefi of his own nation
He said as many as 200,000 Pakistani tourists travel to Singapore or Thailand each year, in what amounts to a wasted opportunity for Indonesian tourism. According to official figures, only 8,000 Pakistanis visited Indonesia in 2016. Who is to verify that the incoming Pakis are indeed tourist or terrorists . And what is the guarantee that they will not "disappear" into the country once allowed entry
Meanwhile, bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan is currently close to US$2.2 billion, tilting heavily in Indonesia’s favor due to significant exports to Pakistan of palm oil and coal. Have the Indonesian traders received the monies for the goods provided
Pakistan has been trying to lobby the Indonesian government to take it off the list of countries that require a calling visa for entry, touting various improvements in the security situation that had previously given the country a less-than-stellar reputation. On the sidelines of an Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Jakarta in March 2016, Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain made a plea at the highest levels to have his country taken off the list.
Is RAA behind this nefarious decision of the Indonesian Govt
The regulation also stipulates that countries on the list are those that pose a potential liability to Indonesian national interests from an ideological, political, economic or socio-cultural standpoint, as well as threaten national security, defense or immigration.Officials from the ministries could not be reached for comment.Islamabad has come under domestic and international pressure to crack down on militants and outlawed sectarian groups to disprove accusations of statesponsored terrorism.

Ahem!
Jest to remind everyone, that Census chacha had initially started to write the following:
M for Momeen
M for Munafiq, &
M for Minority.

But since there was too much confusion, they changed it to "M", "Q" and "K" designation...
