Mush Being "Treated Like A Leper" By University Of London :D

University of London cancels Musharraf’s event over protest fears
LONDON: The University of London has said it will not allow All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) President Pervez Musharraf to use its venue to take part in a question and answer recording session for a private Pakistani television.A private television channel had announced that General (retd) Pervez Musharraf will “answer your questions on a range of world issues, from '99 takeover to the War on Terror and Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification” at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Khalili Theatre on 24th of August.
The SOAS came under intense pressure after the event with the former military dictator was announced. The university was told by at least three groups that it will protest during the event and activists will disrupt the event. Mush is too toxic ! This is the second venue where he is "not wanted"
Pakistan Solidarity Campaign, a group of Pakistani activists from various progressive groups, wrote to the SOAS and launched a petition calling on the university to “immediately revoke permission” to host Musharraf. It said that allowing Musharraf will “send the wrong message that SOAS – and the British Government – support military coups, state-sponsored violence, and humanitarian crimes in Pakistan”. His Agent in Massaland, will have to reduce his "speaking fees" to generate "demand" for his bombastic pronouncements !
Pakistan Solidarity Campaign said Musharraf was “not only a military ruler who has toppled a democratically-elected government” but he was also involved in abduction, torture and humiliation of human rights activists and political opponents including supporting political and religious groups with links to violence. It told the SOAS that allowing Musharraf a platform will mean undermining the rule of law in Pakistan and will send a message that law absconders are rolled out the red carpet. Is RAA involved in this conspiracy to silence the Kammandu
On Monday, the main Student Union of SOAS joined Pakistan Solidarity Campaigning in announcing various layers of protest, forcing the university to revoke permission of the event. SOAS issued a statement confirming that it had “not invited Pervez Musharraf to speak at the school and no such event is taking place here”. It confirmed that a “room booking request” was made by a student and “that the student has now in fact withdrawn the request”.
The University of London's cancellation comes a few days after Pervez Musharraf was forced to leave an event midway at Nobel Peace Centre after a protest by some participants.

The next logical step would be for POTUS to consider cancel his long term visa and deny him entry into US on grounds of "national security"

Just heard Trumps speech on Af-Pak. Very neg for Pak, Pak will have to shut down terror camps (quite a lot of time spent on Pak). India carries a trade deficit with the US, India will use some of those monies on Afghanistan (which we do anyway). The US has no immediate plans of leaving Afgh, which is what India wanted. Overall good for India, Afgh will have to show progress and Pak will be given the danda.

The much-awaited, suspense-laden Trump policy is at last out:
We can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorist groups . . . It's time for Pakistan to demonstrate its commitment to fight terror . . . Pakistan has sheltered organisations that have every single day tried to kill our people . . . . Pakistan has much to gain from our efforts in Afghanistan. It has much to lose otherwise, offering safe haven to 'agents of chaos'. . . .

He claims to have given orders to field commanders to basically hit at will, no need to wait for orders from DupleeCity. This is what has been missing since Vietnam, IMO.

Relevant Parts of the Speech by Trump.

I am here tonight to lay out our path forward in Afghanistan and South Asia.

I directed Secretary of Defense Mattis and my national security team to undertake a comprehensive review of all strategic options in Afghanistan and South Asia...After many meetings over many months, we held our final meeting last Friday at Camp David with my cabinet and generals to complete our strategy. I arrived at three fundamental conclusion about America's core interests in Afghanistan.

I concluded that the security threats we face in Afghanistan and the broader region are immense. Today, 20 U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organizations are active in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The highest concentration in any region anywhere in the world. For its part, Pakistan often gives safe haven to agents of chaos, violence and terror.

No one denies that we have inherited a challenging and troubling situation in Afghanistan and South Asia.

In Afghanistan and Pakistan, America's interests are clear. We must stop the resurgence of safe havens that enable terrorists to threaten America. And we must prevent nuclear weapons and materials from coming into the hands of terrorists and being used against us or anywhere in the world, for that matter. But to prosecute this war, we will learn from history.

As a result of our comprehensive review, American strategy in Afghanistan and South Asia will change dramatically .

The next pillar of our new strategy is to change the approach in how to deal with Pakistan. We can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond.

Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with our effort in Afghanistan. It has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists. In the past, Pakistan has been a valued partner. Our militaries have worked together against common enemies. The Pakistani people have suffered greatly from terrorism and extremism. We recognize those contributions and those sacrifices, but Pakistan has also sheltered the same organizations that try every single day to kill our people. We have been paying Pakistan billions and billions of dollars, at the same time they are housing the very terrorists that we are fighting. But that will have to change. And that will change immediately. No partnership can survive a country's harboring of militants and terrorists who target U.S. service members and officials. It is time for Pakistan to demonstrate its commitment to civilization, order and to peace.

Another critical part of the South Asia strategy for America is to further develop its strategic partnership with India, the world's largest democracy and a key security and economic partner of the United States. We appreciate India's important contributions to stability in Afghanistan, but India makes billions of dollars in trade with the United States, and we want them to help us more with Afghanistan, especially in the area of economic assistance and development. We are committed to pursuing our shared objectives for peace and security in South Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific region.

Micromanagement from Washington, D.C. does not win battles. They are won in the field drawing upon the judgment and expertise of wartime commanders and frontline soldiers, acting in real time with real authority and with a clear mission to defeat the enemy. That’s why we will also expand authority for American armed forces to target the terrorist and criminal networks that sow violence and chaos throughout Afghanistan. These killers need to know they have nowhere to hide, that no place is beyond the reach of American might and American arms. Retribution will be fast and powerful.

Our troops will fight to win. We will fight to win. From now on, victory will have a clear definition — attacking our enemies, obliterating ISIS, crushing al Qaeda, preventing the Taliban from taking over Afghanistan and stopping mass terror attacks against America before they emerge. We will ask our NATO allies and global partners to support our new strategy, with additional troop and funding increases in line with our own. We are confident they will.

However, our commitment is not unlimited, and our support is not a blank check.

Meanwhile in LaLaLand, there is no reaction to Trump's speech yet. It has been an hour since it was made. However, the pakis are complaining about the pakistaniyat hurting their cotton crops.

Cotton crop hit by severe pest attack
The cotton zone districts of Punjab have come under pest attack, and the agriculture department has advised growers to carry out pest scouting twice a week.
Punjab produces 80pc of the total crop while Sindh has the share of 20pc
the government has revised the target of production, and now it is fixed at 12.6m bales against the original target of 14m bales.
hot spots have been discovered in 11 cotton growing districts where growers have been advised to apply a new chemistry of pesticides before the pest attack reaches the level of economic loss.
nearly a dozen types of pests have been found attacking the cotton crop. Among these pests are whitefly, jassid, thrips, mealybug, big bowl worm, armyworm and heliothis, which are sucking insect pests of cotton.

^^^^ fears overblown. US still depends on Pak for land access to Afghanistan. Has that changed? Have they built a tunnel through the earth?

Pak has this monopoly position on Afghanistan. That has to be dismantled. Via Charbahar or secession of Baluchistan. Can US do that?

Now we understand why CPEC took the Pakistan Darshan route.

Otherwise it will revert to same as before in short order.

Exactly. How US is going to take care of logistics?

unless unless there is a plan to free balochistan. I don't see a remote chance of that happening.

Indo-Pacific was a term introduced by the Obama regime and I heard it the first time in Chennai when Ms. Clinton, as Secretary of State, addressed a meeting here six years back almost to this date.

That term most certainly does not refer to South Indo-China Sea. It refers to the broad region covering the littorals of the Indian Ocean & the Pacific Sea.

Could be the exact opposite sir. Both NM and pigeon spoke about Balochistan, now if khan can be convinced that Balochistan will offer direct access as well to Afghanistan and US need not spend billions of dollars to keep Baluchis happy, they might think about freeing up it as well. Also, added advantage for both us and US is that China will lose it's CPEC connection through Balochistan.

Balochistan will have a chance if pakistan fully and completely align to china against US interest. Until they offer olive branch to US balochistan have no chance of US backing.

problem is India cant even have a large IA and IAF base in a'stan without logistical support.

Do we have capability to attack and free b'stan on our own? That investment need to come from us with US backing of arms and fuel. There is no guarantee that china will not open another front to protect its investment.

Someone please tell Trump there's billions and billions of dollars to be made from natural resources in Balochistan and that a free Balochistan will not only cut off CPEC as mentioned above but also helps US surround Iran and keep a tight leash on the Iranians.

There are many win win for India and US if we free b'stan. Thing is India cannot and should not invest heavily in a'stan without securing its own long term logistics. Iran is highly unreliable and only option is b'stan. US presidents come and go, their policies change at will, hence without our own logistics our entire investment is down the drain in future.

Pakis "preparing" official response according to this press report.

Pakistan to issue official response on Trump’s Afghan policy: sources
Pakistan has decided to issue an official statement and response on American latest Afghan policy, sources stated. Pakistan will issue official statement after consultation today. According to sources, Pakistan will express its concerns on US President Donald Trump’s tilt towards India.
Pakistan will give its response to Indian and US allegations of terrorists’ ‘safe havens’ in the country, sources added. The sources further stated Pakistan will remind Donald Trump of former US leadership’s appreciation on Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terrorism as Operation Rad-ul-Fasaad and Khyber-IV will be specifically mentioned. Indian policies against peace in the region will also be highlighted, sources mentioned. Meanwhile, former High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, stated that American consent towards Indian intervention in Afghanistan is critical and a serious issue.
“Either US is not aware of ground realities or ignoring them intentionally,” he said.
And this , related to the above: (response to be "delivered" in person, by the "newly minted" FO !)

Foreign Minister Asif to visit US within next few days: sources
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif will visit America within next few days, sources stated. According to a report by Waqt News, Asif is going to US after invitation by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. During his visit, Pakistani Foreign Minister will meet top leadership and officials of US.
Bilateral relations of Pakistan-America, Afghan policy and issues regarding War against terrorism will be discussed during the visit. The Foreign Minister will highlight Pakistan’s role in establishing peace policy in Afghanistan, sources added. The visit is important as US President Donald Trump opened the door on Monday night to an increase in U.S. troops in Afghanistan as part of a retooled strategy for the region, overcoming his own doubts about America's longest war and vowing "a fight to win." Trump, in a prime-time televised address at a military base near Washington, said his new approach was aimed at preventing Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven for Islamist militants bent on attacking the United States.
The report has been published giving the (wrong) impression that Pakistan will be dealing with Massa on an equal footing ( "Afghan policies and issues and war against terrorism will be discussed"). The fact is the Pakis are totally dependent on the Americans and other western countries for their day to day survival , and POTUS vowed yesterday to use the "carrot and stick" approach to "tame" Pakistan. As some posters have mentioned, unless USA has direct access route to Afghanistan ( not using Pakistan ), it will be difficult to implement some of the "get tough" measures. Also whether the other non-pashtun ethnics of Afghanistan will accept a "Taliban-lite" regime, as hinted by Trump in his speech, is another matter altogether. !

None officially. But per Yawn! bakistan was "mentioned in dispatches" and the drubbing was glossed over. But it is "India that got the ultimatum".
Trump indicated that single-minded approach would extend to US relations with troubled ally Pakistan, which consecutive US administrations have criticised for links with the Taliban and for harbouring leading militants.
Ahead of the speech, the Pakistan Army had brushed off speculation that Trump could signal a stronger line against Islamabad, insisting the country has done all it can to tackle militancy. “Let it come,” Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor told reporters, referring to Trump's decision. “Even if it comes... Pakistan shall do whatever is best in the national interest.
Much of Trump's address on turning around America's longest war sounded familiar, not least on the need for Pakistan to crack down on Taliban fighters seeking sanctuary across Afghanistan's border.
New ultimatum on India
More surprising was Trump's call on India and how he linked Afghanistan to totally separate US-Indian trade matters. Trump said the US appreciates India's important contributions to Afghan stability. But he lamented that India “makes billions of dollars in trade with the United States.” He said he wants India to provide more economic assistance and development to Afghanistan.
In the age of easy access to the Internet, paki media continues to fool its readership.

Deep State Overactive

Pakistani Campaigner for the ‘Disappeared’ Himself Goes Missing. :D
It was only last month when Punhal Sario marched from the Pakistani cities of Hyderabad to Karachi to demand the return of fellow activists who had gone “missing,” a Pakistani euphemism for those forcibly disappeared by the state authorities. Now, Sario himself is feared missing.
Witnesses say that Sario, a 58-year-old human rights activist and head of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, was abducted from Hyderabad by security forces on August 3. Four days later, men in plainclothes accompanied by police officials abducted three other people – Partab Shivani, a teacher and activist; Naseer Kumbhar, a writer; and Mohammad Umer, a political party worker – from the Tharparkar district of Sindh province. Pakistani authorities deny any involvement, but have produced no information on the men’s whereabouts. Deep State acts on its own. It has no obligation to inform anyone and is not accountable to to any authority
In a further show of intimidation of critical voices in Sindh, on August 8, security forces raided the home of Amar Sindhu, a well-known poet and activist in Mirpurkas district. Sindhu alleges that the authorities wanted to take her brother Najaf Ali into custody, who was not home at the time of the raid. The day is not too far when the Sindhis will emulate the Balochis !
These recent alleged rights violations come just weeks after a review of Pakistan by the United Nations Human Rights Committee, which recommended that Pakistan end the practice of enforced disappearances and secret detentions. These latest abductions unfortunately suggest that the Pakistani government will ignore the UN body’s recommendation to make disappearances – an arrest or detention by state officials followed by a refusal to acknowledge the person’s fate or whereabouts – a criminal offense under Pakistani law.
People who are disappeared are held without legal protection, making them much more vulnerable to torture and other abuses. The nongovernmental Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported that 728 people were forcibly disappeared in Pakistan in 2016 alone.
Pakistan’s new prime minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, can start his term in office with measures that would signal to Pakistanis and the world that his government is intent on reversing the country’s deteriorating human rights situation. Urgently providing information on the whereabouts of Punhal Sario and other disappeared activists and ensuring the prompt release of those wrongfully detained would be an important first step. Abbasi has more important matters on his plate, than "taking care" of the "deteriorating human rights situation."

Have no fear, a new dossier is near (to completion)!

Pakistan preparing 'detailed response' to Trump’s allegations, says official
The federal government is in the process of consultation with all stakeholders to prepare a detailed response to the United States President Donald Trump’s recent statement in which he denounced “Pakistan’s safe havens for terrorist organisations”, sources in the Foreign Office revealed on Tuesday.
“Pakistan has destroyed and eliminated the terror infrastructure from its soil therefore repeating the demand of ‘do more’ is not going to work.”
Pakis probably started working on the dossier last week. This time it will be a 28 page double spaced dossier (in color). Brown does not show up well in B&W.

ombaba said some tough words..and ombaba used drones..a LOT. ombaba went in and got osama ji.

we all know that nothing will change until the money is completely stopped and sanctions are put and hits on assets inside pak other than the expendables in NWFP areas where already drones operate.

quite funny to see premature *** based on what trump blusters about in fire and fury blah blah..

one clear indicator is - how domestic media in US reports this - left or right. typically they either completely ignore pak or do some == bs. This is based on what the administration indicates. If trump truly wants to take on pak perfidy, he will have to make sure there is coverage, which is necessary for building up public support (or manufacturing consent, take your pick). there is nothing on domestic media.

even when there is coverage on china trade issue, he has wimped out after initial bluster. so taking trump at his word as though he will put his capital in it and follow through is ..better left to a 'wait and see'...

The chini lizards have come out in support of their munna.
“(On) President Trump’s remarks on Pakistan, I should say that Pakistan is at the frontline of fighting terrorism, has made sacrifices in fighting terrorism, making an important contribution to upholding peace and stability,” Hua said, strongly defending Beijing’s all-weather friend.
Chini's are showing the middle finger to Uncle Sam.Time for US Navy to now send a couple of aircraft carriers to the South China (Indo China) Sea and start supporting the State of Kalat (Baluchistan) which was illegally annexed by Porkistan in 1948.
