Loanistan AKA Terroristan on a "LOAN" taking Binge!

$2b loans granted ex-post facto approval

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has regularised nearly $2 billion foreign commercial loans that the government had obtained during second half of the last fiscal year without prior approval of the cabinet and also waived 10% tax on interest payments to foreign lenders.

It was the second time during the last nine months that the federal cabinet gave ex-post facto approvals of foreign commercial borrowings.

In February 2017, the federal cabinet had also regularised the $2.7 billion foreign commercial loans.

The Ministry of Finance had signed eight agreements between December 2016 and June 2017 with foreign banks to obtain $1.965 billion short-term loans to support the dwindling foreign currency reserves.

All the eight loan agreements had been signed without obtaining prior approval of the federal cabinet, which is necessary under the Rules of Business of 1973.

Rule 16(1)(d) of the Rules of Business states that ministries would bring “proposals for levy, abolition, remission, alteration or regulation of any tax and floatation of loans” for the approval of the federal cabinet.

However, the federal cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval of those loans on Tuesday, regularising the borrowings.

The ex-post facto approvals are in violation of the spirit of the Supreme Court judgment of August 2016. The apex court’s ruling binds the government to initiate all fiscal matters with the consent of the federal cabinet.

The finance ministry obtained the loans from foreign commercial banks, bypassing the competitive process which had also raised transparency concerns.

The cabinet gave the approvals amid growing criticism against the finance ministry’s strategy to remain afloat by taking ‘sky high’ debt.

During the four-year tenure of the PML-N government, the country’s external debt swelled from $61 billion to a record $83 billion. There was a net addition of $22 billion in the external loans in just four years.

The $1.965 billion borrowings were part of a record-breaking $4.4 billion short-term foreign commercial loan that the PML-N government had obtained during FY2016-17 that ended on June 30. Out of this, $2.3 billion came from Chinese financial institutions alone.

The finance ministry got $275 million from Citibank on June 30 – the last day of the fiscal year. It also signed a common term agreement with Standard Chartered Bank on June 20 for $700 million loan – just 10 days before the close of the fiscal year.

The finance ministry signed two agreements for $650 million loan with Credit Suisse[/] on June 7 and May 18.

Two agreements for $245 million loan were signed with the Dubai-based Noor Bank PJSC on May 15 and March 30.

Pakistan also got $40 million loan from the ECO Trade and Development Bank on February 17 this year, and $55 million from the Dubai Islamic Bank on December 8, 2016

The federal cabinet also waived 10% tax on interest payments to the financial institutions without involving the National Assembly.

The Ministry of Finance informed the federal cabinet that “foreign commercial loans are offered with the condition that taxes applicable in Pakistan would not be borne by the lenders”, showed the official documents.

“The Federal Board of Revenue supported the proposal to waive the taxes. It is a standard practice to waive taxes on foreign commercial loans to cut the cost of borrowings,” said Dr Mohammad Iqbal, spokesman for the FBR.

The government took the loans after it failed to attract sufficient non-debt creating inflows, like enhancing exports and foreign direct investment to meet its external financing requirements.

The country’s exports have been constantly declining since the PML-N government came into power. During the last fiscal year, the exports stood at only $20.44 billion, which were just 6.7% of the total size of the economy.

Pakistan’s official foreign currency reserves – largely built by borrowings – have again started depleting after the end of the International Monetary Fund facility. As of end September, the foreign currency reserves held by the central bank stood at $13.78 billion.

Watched it. His beard and lack of mustache shows clearly where he stands. And what comes out of his mouth is pure BS planted by the ISI. But what else do you expect?

Sri Lankan players concerned about playing in Pakistan
The greatest blow to PCB came in 2008 when the Sri Lankan cricket team’s bus was attacked near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore
LAHORE: Forty Sri Lankan players have expressed concerns about playing a Twenty20 International (T20I) match in Pakistan in October.
The players sent a signed letter to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in which they expressed hesitation about playing a T20I match in Pakistan and asked for the venue to be changed.
Reportedly, SLC will continue talking to the players and will try to convince them to play in Pakistan. If no agreement is reached, there is a possibility that it might send a team of young players to Pakistan.

Trump, for all his brave words, realized that he needed Pakistan. Pakistan always knew it needed the US. So, both staged the Boyle act together to give a 'face saving' twist so that Trump can claim that Pakistan has turned around and Pakistan can claim that it acts against 'all terrorist groups' iff 'proof' is given. Absolutely, the 'made-for-each-other couple' have reconciled from their minor tiff. All's well now.

Pak withdraws Hafiz Saeed's detention request under anti-terror law - PTI

Now that the US is firmly back to supporting Terroristan (and God knows what promises the US has given to Terroristan for staging the mock release of Boyle family from the 'clutches' of Haqqanis), Terroristan feels bold enough to even discard the fig-leaf of action against Hafeez Saeed.

Whenever Pakistan felt emboldened, the first thing it has done was to attack India.
The Pakistan government on Saturday withdrew its request for extending the detention of Mumbai attack mastermind and JuD chief Hafiz Saeed under the anti- terrorism law.

On January 31, Saeed and his four aides were detained by the Punjab government for 90 days+ under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. They have been under house arrest since then.

An official of the Home Department of Punjab government told a three-member federal judicial review board headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan of the Supreme Court that the government did not require the extension of Saeed and his four accomplices' detention any more.

"The provincial government does not require extension to the detention of Saeed, his aides - Abdullah Ubaid, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Hussain - under the anti-terrorism law. Therefore it requests the board to accept withdrawal of extension to detention of Jamaat-u-Dawah leaders," he said.

The board accepted the government's plea and disposed of the matter.

Explaining as to why the government withdrew its application, a senior official of the Punjab government told PTI that since the government has extended the detention of Saeed and four others till October 24 under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 it does not require to have them house arrested under the anti-terrorism law.

He said the government was to produce Saeed and others before the review board for their detention under 11 EEE (I) and 11D of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

"But since since all five of them are detained under the public order there was no binding on the government to produce them before the review board today to seek extension to their detention," the official said.

The Punjab Home Department issued an order extending the house arrest of Jamat-d-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed and four other JuD men for another 30 days with effect from September 25 under the public order. The previous detention order issued on July 28 was expired on September 25.

The last two extensions were made on the 'public order'.

Pakis Being Targeted In Greece. Attacks Raises Alarm In The Community

Pakistanis in Greece under threat of racial violence; embassy takes notice
Two immigrant workers of Pakistani origin have been hospitalised after falling victim to a racially motivated attack at Aspropyrgos, an area west of Athens, Greece. The two Pakistani nationals, Waqas Hussein and Ashfak Mahmoud, were working on a local farm, near the industrial zone of Aspropyrgos when a group of five armed men, bearing knuckle-dusters and other blunt-edged weapons, surrounded them. The group hurled racist slurs towards the two Pakistani workers, and subsequently began to beat them. The attacks on them, of course has to be condemned. The question is (i) are they legal or illegal in Greece (ii) Have they been indulging in unlawful acts (iii) if legal, are they integrating in main stream society (iv) are they "milking" the Greek Welfare/ Social System
(v) are Indians being attacked the same way or this "special treatment" in onlee reserved for Pakis !
The injured workers were later moved to the Piraeus’ Tzaneio Hospital. The police are conducting an ongoing investigation, and are hopeful of catching all those responsible. Three teenagers who were part of the five-man group have been arrested, but at least two of the five perpetrators are at large and no connection to the Golden Dawn has been established. In their houses, police found clubs and other objects. The suspects are known to police for their participation in a series of incidents. Three more persons are wanted for their involvement in the attack.
The incident is not the first time that Pakistani immigrant workers have been attacked in Greece, let alone an isolated racist incident.
In a separate incident on the same day when Waqas and Ashfaq were attacked and threatened to “be burnt at the stake,” some 10 to 12 people attacked 30-year-old Osman Mohammed, also from Pakistan, as he made his way home from work in the Lambrini suburb of Athens, according to Keerfa, an anti-racist activist group.Meanwhile, Pakistani Embassy in Greece took an immediate notice of the violence and strongly condemned the attack on two Pakistanis, a press release said, the copy of which is available with Pakistan Today.
Press Release in onlee Urdu For the benefit of the Aam Abduls , who cannot speak English, Greek or most likely will be completely illiterate
Image
Pakistani Ambassador to Greece Khalid Usman Qaiser, while strongly condemning the incident, personally contacted Ashfak Mahmoud and offered his heartfelt sympathies. He spoke to Ashfaq and his brother, assuring all measures will be taken to address this issue, in order to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Upon learning about the incident, the envoy approached the local leadership and police authorities, demanding fair inquiry of the incident. He met with the police chief, higher officials in the foreign office, and political leadership of the country. A number of meetings with parliamentarians are also lined up in the coming week, including with the chief of neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, which is suspected in the incident.Talking exclusively to Pakistan Today, Khalid Usman said: “The two Pakistani immigrants were attacked on October 7, 2017, in Aspropyrgos, which is some 20km away from the Greek capital Athens.” “They were attacked reportedly by racist hooligans belonging to Golden Dawn—a neo-Nazi party that holds 18 seats in the Greek Parliament.” Ashfaq Mahmoud was seriously injured by the attackers and was hospitalised for two days, he added.
The ambassador said he is personally connected with all Pakistanis in Greece through his WhatsApp. As a result of embassy’s efforts, local political parties and organisations also condemned the incident. Next week the ambassador said he’ll be meeting with a number of parliamentarians to sensitise them regarding these attacks and would urge them to ensure security and safety of all Pakistani migrants in Greece. Are the Pakis in Greece legally or illegally ? Are they "parked" in Greece on a temporary basis , until they get to "greener pastures" ?
The ambassador since his coming to Greece has tried to unite the extremely polarised Pakistani community, as well as improving Pakistan embassy’s consular service. He urged all Pakistanis to remain law-abiding citizens and forge unity among themselves to ward-off such incidents in the future. The incident has caused great uproar within the Pakistani community in Greece, anti-racist organisations and the leftist party that currently forms the government of the island nation.
Javed Aslam, the president of the Pakistani Community in Greece union, said that his organisation has documented between 70 to 80 attacks on Pakistani workers in Aspropyrgos between August 2016 and April 2017.
In a statement published on Sunday, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) accused the Golden Dawn—a neo-fascist party that has a long history of attacking migrants and political opponents—of being behind the violence.
In January 2013, two assailants affiliated with the Golden Dawn fatally stabbed Shahzad Luqman, a 26-year-old Pakistani, in Athens. The attacks on the Pakis should indeed be condemned , specially if the attacks are proven to be racially motivated . Not sure if other similar communities ( Indians, Bangladeshis, SriLankans ) are also attacked or this "viscous treatment is only reserved for the Pakistanis because of their "special reputation" .

Equally important is the message that boyle birather gave in heavily accented English to the press while dressed up in a kurta.

1. Bakistan ISI is great.
2. Bakistan has nothing to do with the haqqanis (didn't you notice all those bullet holes?).
3. Baki doctors saved the life of my daughter.
4. Haqqanis and the tellibunies are not the same.
5. Bakistan is true friend of America and Canada.

Water fears

Fears of water scarcity are nothing new for Pakistan but when the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) presses the alarm buttons it is something to take serious note of. We already know that the water distribution situation is highly alarming. The SBP has asked the government to formulate a comprehensive national policy for bridging the gap between water demand and supply. In its Annual Report on the State of Economy for 2016-17, the SBP has warned that delays would increase the water deficit on account of growing demand and declining supplies. The two major factors for a decline in supply are pollution and climate change – which are the factors that are most easily ignored. Stupido Terroristanis and their Bankrupt Leadership refuse to take into account that according to them the Pakistani Population has INCREASED SEVEN TIMES TO 207 Millions but according to THIS ARTICLE has increased ten times to 300 million! We have noted already how studies show that over 80 percent of the water supplied for household consumption is polluted throughout the country. Technically, this is water that should not be consumed by human beings, but such is the paucity of options that people have no choice but to keep using polluted sources of water supply. The SBP is clear that a top-down agenda that ignores the needs of populations, especially provinces, could create political discord in the country. Already, the issue of creating new water reservoirs is fraught with political opposition.

This has left Pakistan in a situation where the country can only store 30 days of water consumption. The big three reservoirs, built in the 1960s and 1970s, have a rapidly declining capacity due to sedimentation. The standard water storage requirement globally is around 120 days, while a number of countries are able to store 1-2 years of water. The gap allows for the adjustment of water consumption if a crisis is likely. While the need for more storage is obvious, the biggest problems lie in the irrigation system used to supply Pakistan’s agrarian economy. Almost 90 percent of Pakistan’s water is supplied to farmers through the ageing Indus Basin water system. Farmers are often required to consume water when they do not need it, while the required water is often not supplied when they need it. This has led to a dependency of the ground water depleting tubewell irrigation system, which comes with high costs and renders the irrigation networks useless. Moreover, high levels of water seepage through unlined water passages not only reduces water supply, it also makes agrarian land unusable through water logging. The clock is ticking fast for us to respond. By 2020, Pakistan will face a high level of water stress. By 2030, the level of water stress will be extremely high. The need for a national policy to tackle the water crisis at an emergency level is immediate.

Imagination vs. territory - Yaqoob Khan Bangash

While the idea of Pakistan has been broad, first encompassing all the Muslim of India and later the entire Islamic world, the territory of Pakistan has been the victim of gravity

Writing in his important work on Pakistan as ‘Muslim Zion’, Faisal Devji has argued that since Pakistan was an ‘idea’ its territorial imagination was very fluid. Hence, Jinnah could stake a claim to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, despite the fact that they were not Muslim majority, argues Devji. So like the Jewish ‘Zion’ which might have actually materialised in Argentina, territory was a secondary consideration to the idea.

Possibly in a testament to its imagination, Pakistan was born on August 15, 1957 without any boundaries. The Radcliffe line which split the Punjab and the Bengal, though decided, was only declared on August 17, 1947. Hence for two days people near the border were unsure which country they were a part of, and the leaders of the countries did not know the extent to which their power lay.

Where the border between the two Punjabs and Bengals was still under wraps, Pakistan did indeed acquire an extra territory — the State of Junagadh, three hundred miles away from Karachi on the Kathiawar coast, acceded to Pakistan. Junagadh, the most important state in region, had a Muslim ruler but an 81 per cent Hindu population. Its area was also not contiguous with several of the state’s pockets in other states, and other states having enclaves in Junagadh. Economically too, Junagadh was inextricably tied to the states around it, all of which had acceded to India. But then Pakistan was an idea, and therefore it did not matter where the territory actually lay.

Now it is in 70th year, perhaps it is time that the idea of Pakistan and the territory of Pakistan become friends. Maybe they should recognise that both need each other to survive and flourish.

Already, Pakistan was a peculiar country: it was a country divided in two wings. While for empires this was not an issue, after all, Jinnah had declared that if England could rule over India from thousands of miles away, why could Pakistan not be ruled when there was only about one thousand miles between the two wings.

However, there was a critical difference here. In empires, the metropole ‘controlled’ and ‘ruled’ the colonies, and the colonised had limited rights, hence it was one-way rule and control. In a disagreement or conflict, the metrople was always right. But Pakistan was going to be a modern nation state with no difference of power between its different units. Since the capital, and hence central power, was to be in one wing, what would happen if the other wing cried neglect? How would differences be dealt with between the two wings?

In the last seventy years just as the idea of Pakistan has largely been under threat, the territory of Pakistan has also changed several times. As the attached map shows, Pakistan is perhaps one of the only modern countries whose boundaries have changed so much since inception. The ‘moth eaten’ Pakistan achieved in August 1947, filled up between August 1947 and April 1948, with the accession of eight princely states, but then just as the territory was increasing, it also decreased with the occupation of Junagadh by India in November 1947.

But then Pakistan again gained territory when Gilgit Agency revolted in November 1947 and the two states of Hunza and Nagar joined the country. The war over Kashmir too added a bit of territory in 1948, which Pakistan called ‘Azad Jammu and Kashmir.’

For the next twenty or so years, the territory of Pakistan remained largely constant, excepting a slice of land it itself gave to China in 1963, in the otherwise disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. But then Pakistan, the idea and the territory, again made world headlines in 1971 when, for the first time in modern history, a majority seceded from a minority. The bloody civil war of 1971 ended with the emergence of Bangladesh. The other ‘wing’ somehow felt that that distant Karachi was much worse than the even more distant London, and so rose in revolt.

Pakistan the idea and Pakistan the territory have perhaps always remained in a tension. While the idea of Pakistan has been broad, first encompassing all the Muslim of India and later the entire Islamic world, the territory of Pakistan has been the victim of gravity. Despite Pakistan’s claim on the Muslims of India, they remained in another country, in fact, territorial Pakistan did not want them, but still the idea of Pakistan did not end its claim. Similarly, while the idea of Pakistan wanted to become the lynchpin of the Muslim world, the territory of Pakistan was very wary of the Muslim countries of Afghanistan and Iran and their designs on its territory.

Now it is in 70th year, perhaps it is time that the idea of Pakistan and the territory of Pakistan become friends. Maybe they should recognise that both need each other to survive, to flourish and quite simply to remain. Both the idea and territory have given grief to each other several times in the past, so perchance now they can work together towards a common goal, identity and existence. Perhaps now both the idea and territory should be only Pakistan.

Middle class myth

“A strong middle class, as thinkers from Aristotle to James Madison to modern political scientists have noted, fosters better governance by helping ensure government is well-run, increasing citizen participation, minimising factional fighting, and promoting policies for the benefit of all of society rather than special interests. In contrast, economic inequality and a weak middle class make the political system imbalanced and depress the political participation of the non-wealthy, reducing voting, discussion, and interest in public policy” - Economist David Madland.

MOST times it is best not to reinvent the wheel; so thank you David.

From my experience, I am not really in a position to challenge this primary myth that the middle class is the catalyst for transition to democratic rule; if at all democracy is what all it claims to be. But that particular discussion is left for another day when the champions of democracy are less cantankerous to enter into a debate which can potentially shake the very foundation of their beliefs.

“A government which is composed of the middle class more nearly approximates to democracy than to oligarchy, and is the safest of the imperfect forms of government” — Aristotle. So for the moment, let’s humour Aristotle and Mr Madland, and go with the myth that when there is no middle class there is no democracy. Unfortunately, even then the evidence in Pakistan is contrary to what is postulated above.

While I am sure that all supporters of democracy readily agree with Mr Madland that the middle class can do all these good things for their ‘Precious’, at the same time I am equally sure they will agree with me when I assert my scepticism that there is increasing participation of common citizens in anything, that factional fighting is not at uncontrollable levels already and worsening, that the only policies that get promoted are those which don’t benefit strong lobbies, and that income inequality, contrary to global situation, is not on the rise in Pakistan too.

So either the middle class has nothing to do with the rise and fall of democracy, or the size of our middle class is not 38 per cent of the population as is broadly estimated. Considering we live in a country where statistics aren’t a priority, the dogged conviction in a sizeable, and increasing middle class can only be termed as confirmation of in-group bias.

While “dil ke khush rakhne ko ‘Ghalib’ ye khayal achchha hai”, I do not agree with the view that simply owning a motor cycle and a washing machine is sufficient qualification for a membership of the middle class. Admittedly, owning capital should be one of the conditions precedents to be deemed middle class, but getting vehicles on hire purchase is also not owning capital. Nonetheless, ignoring acquisitions on debt, according to Gallup, the total number of motor cars, jeeps and station wagons registered in Pakistan in 2015 was around 2.5 million. Add another half a million for the next two years and multiply with average size of the family, the size of the middle class is probably less than 18m.

However, I feel that education, rather than owning cars or televisions, is necessary for discussing and taking interest, and arguably swaying, public policy in the right direction. All those who believe that Pakistan’s literacy rate in substance is 60pc, kindly raise their hands; what?? Is there no one? If literacy standard is the ability to read the daily newspaper and recite the math tables one to 10, our literacy rate is perhaps not very high. By the way, listening to prime time news and being brainwashed into prejudiced views of celebrity anchors does not equate with discussing and taking interest in public policy.

For those still sitting on the fence, the total number of active taxpayers, filers, in Pakistan is 1.2m which includes all employees paid salary by the corporate and public sector; so do the math. Finally, Pakistan’s urban population is reported at 38pc approximately, and assuming a high 50pc in the middle class, and linking with the earlier discussion, I for one, rather confidently, conclude that the country’s middle class, in the true sense of the word, is not more than 15pc of the population.

No wonder we struggle with democracy; whatever that is in the first place. I keep telling my friends that even if all of them have a 100 votes each, they would still not be able to make a difference. Between the 1pc and the 84pc, the middle class is getting a trashing, and frankly, it is not even in the ruling elite’s interest to pander to the minority, the middle class. To the question what comes first, middle class or real democracy, I for one will side with the poor middle class.

Another Paki Ayesha From KP Province Dares To Come Out From The "Islamic Closet" :D

Weightlifter Maryam Nasim hopes to represent Pakistan internationally one day

IMO, these "Pathani girls" coming from an very conservative background are quite over- active when it comes to assertive their rights. We have the example of Malala Yusafzai, then there is Imran's ex Reham Khan - a westernized Pathani , then there is the female squash player ( looks like an Abdul !)from Pakiland - one foot in Canada and one foot in Peshawar going by the name of Maria Toorpakay, and her "famous" sister Ayesha Gulalai MNA who had the "guts" to shame Immy on the social media. And now this "new addition", physically in Aastralia but heart still in Pakistan

I thought the semi would be between India and S Korea. But now it appears the FINALS are between India and Malaysia and Pakis will fight it out with S Korea for the third place per wiki.

Added later: Wiki is wrong. There will be league matches for super 4 and then the final on Oct 22nd. So we will meet the Pakis again at least once. Could be twice.

More on the festering boyle saga. Future Nobelists, apostles of peace, the tellybunnies have just weighed in. But why are the 'bunnies defending the haqqanis?

Taliban reject rape, murder claims of freed Canadian hostage
The Taliban on Sunday rejected claims by freed Canadian hostage Joshua Boyle that his kidnappers had killed his child and raped his wife during the family's captivity, saying the woman had a "natural miscarriage" (how did the other two bambinos survive?) .
After landing in Toronto on Friday, Boyle had accused his captors of killing his baby daughter and raping his wife — accusations which the Taliban said were "fake".
Boyle had condemned the Haqqani network's "stupidity and evil of authorising the murder of my infant daughter" in "retaliation for my repeated refusal to accept an offer (which offer?) that the miscreant of the Haqqani network had made to me, and the stupidity and evil of the subsequent rape of my wife".
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Boyle and Coleman were never separated during their captivity, "precisely due to the fact that the mujahideen did not want to incite any suspicion"
"The allegations floating around in the media have nothing to do with the reality because the said people are now in the hands of our enemy."
Josh "pilgrim" Boyle accused the haqqanis of murder but defended the 'bunnies for their humanitarianism. But, here, the tellybunnies seem to be defending their birathers in arms, thus demolishing the paki narrative that that there are good and bad 'bunnies. Someone in the bunny empire did not get the ISI memo? Bearded heads will roll.

This has started to smell worse than an unwashed paki shalwar.

"Washington Post " Article Raises Questions About Joshua Boyle

Caitlan Coleman and Joshua Boyle are free. Their mysterious story is raising new questions.
Pakistani officials have described the mission to free an American woman, her Canadian husband and their three children as a harrowing operation and a rare bit of positive news in the troubled relationship between their country and the United States.Pakistani soldiers, acting on American intelligence, appear to have opened fire Wednesday at the tires of a car carrying Caitlan Coleman, 31, her husband, Joshua Boyle, 34, and their three children not long after it crossed the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan’s tribal areas. A senior Trump administration official, shortly after the family’s release, compared their ordeal to “living in a hole for five years.”
But, as with so many aspects of the murky and often confusing U.S.-Pakistan relationship, the family’s dramatic rescue has raised as many questions as it has answered. Many observers have commented that this was a "staged operation" by the ISI and Deep Govt to relieve the US pressure on Pakistan. And it worked ! and On Friday night, Coleman, Boyle and their children arrived in Toronto after the family, at the husband’s insistence, had refused to get on a plane for the United States.
Boyle’s father told the New York Times that his son did not want to stop at Bagram air base in Afghanistan, where Americans have been accused of abusing detainees.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Boyle said, “God has given me and my family unparalleled resilience and determination.”
The family’s refusal to travel to the United States led some former U.S. officials to speculate about the couple’s motives in journeying to Afghanistan five years earlier and suggest that they may be trying to avoid tough questions from U.S. intelligence officials. Other U.S. officials played down that explanation.“The administration made very clear that if they wanted to come back to the United States there would be no problems,” said a U.S. official who is familiar with the case and was speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss dealings with the family.
Shortly after marrying in 2011, Coleman and Boyle visited Central America and then headed off to Russia and Central Asia. Coleman was pregnant with their first child in 2012 when they decided to go hiking in Wardak province, a dangerous region south of Kabul that is dominated by feuding militant groups. No sane person would take a hiking holiday to Afghanistan , with his young wife !
The couple’s decision to visit Wardak and Boyle’s unusual personal history set off widespread speculation inside the U.S. intelligence community about his motives. Before he wed Coleman, Boyle had married and divorced the oldest sister of Omar Khadr, a Canadian who was arrested by U.S. forces in Afghanistan in 2002 and was alleged to have ties to al-Qaeda. His past ties to the Omar Khadr family should raise "red flags". Did he "change faith" to marry the Khadr woman? Is he an ex - Muslim now since he married Coleman , (a big no-no in Islam!) Lots of interesting questions such as his present face, which sports a mustache less beard , which is a dead give away as a sign of a "radical muslim"
The patriarch of the Khadr family was killed in 2003, along with al-Qaeda and Taliban members, in a shootout with Pakistani security forces near the Afghanistan border. Boyle’s associations with the family led some U.S. intelligence officials to speculate that the visit to Afghanistan may have been part of a larger effort to link up with Taliban-affiliated militants. If he has "nothing to hide", he should offer himself for interrogation to security officials, IMO !
I can’t say that [he was ever al-Qaeda],” said one former U.S. intelligence official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information. “He was never a fighter on the battlefield. But my belief is that he clearly was interested in getting into it.” Other wise why would he marry into a radical muslim family ?
Coleman was pregnant when they were abducted and gave birth in captivity, the AP reported. Upon landing at the Toronto airport late Friday, Boyle told journalists their captors had killed their infant daughter and raped Coleman during the years they were held.In a video released in December 2016, Coleman described her captivity as a “Kafkaesque nightmare.”
The successful rescue also set off a flurry of questions about what it might portend for U.S.-Pakistan relations. “The first thing to recognize is that this relationship is as broken as it’s been since 2011,” when U.S. officials launched a clandestine raid into Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden, said Moeed Yusuf, an associate vice president for the United States Institute of Peace.
The Trump administration’s new strategy in Afghanistan has put a heavy emphasis on military operations to punish the Taliban in Afghanistan and has increased pressure on Pakistan to eliminate enemy sanctuaries there.Pakistan would prefer a plan that prioritizes peace talks with the Taliban over a military-focused effort. In the aftermath of the successful mission, President Trump suggested that his tough rhetoric had helped to bring Islamabad into line. But Yusuf and other analysts suggested that the president was misreading Pakistani motives. Pakistan is more concerned in keep the "money pipeline" open and via this staged operation, it has succeeded !
“The danger here is that Washington internalizes the message that tough talk with the Pakistanis is working,” Yusuf said. “I am overall pessimistic about the relationship.... If there is one thing that underpins everything, it is a deep mistrust between these two countries.”
Other analysts who follow South Asia were slightly more positive in their assessments and saw potential for cooperation between the two nations.“The United States and Pakistan have some key areas of aligned interests, including on counterterrorism and counterextremism,” said Daniel Feldman, who was the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Obama administration. “This demonstrates that there are opportunities to work together in both our nations’ interests.”
At the Coleman household in southeastern Pennsylvania, the focus wasn’t on geopolitics but on the return of a long-missing daughter.
Her family posted a note on their door referring to the “joyful news” and asking for privacy “as we make plans for the future.”
IMO, just like the broken relationship between Pakistan and US, there appears to be a "broken relationship" between the husband ( Boyle ) and the wife ( Coleman ) here . The children- born in captivity - are probably the "collateral damage" as they say !

SEE IT: Driver hails cab as he abandons doomed passenger in blazing car on Brooklyn highway

Updated: Saturday, October 14, 2017, 11:11 PM
A Brooklyn man, his gal pal trapped inside the flaming wreckage of his nearby car, climbed coolly into a passing taxi as the helpless woman was left to die.

A chilling cellphone video obtained by WABC-TV News caught callous Saeed Ahmad hailing the yellow cab early Friday after escaping the roaring flames that killed passenger Harleen Grewal.

“Can I get a ride?” the manslaughter suspect asked casually as the raging fire from his luxury Infiniti 35G illuminated the 4 a.m. sky above the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

Stunned investigators found Grewal’s charred body in the passenger seat once the flames were extinguished.

“It’s unconscionable. How could you?” asked an outraged Van Christakos, 69, a Queens neighbor of the dead woman’s family. “Dial 911. Stay there! His actions are unconscionable. She was a sweetheart.”

The 25-year-old Grewal’s devastated family was sent reeling a second time by the release of the video one day after her death.

“I don’t even know what happened!” screamed her mother, Raj Grewal, outside their Astoria home. “That’s my child! She was an angel. She is an angel.”

Ahmad told police that he was dating Grewal, but friends said he was just an acquaintance who gave her a ride home.

Grewal’s boyfriend, Karan Singh Dhillon, was wracked with grief over her death.

“My baby didn’t deserve to go like this,” Dhillon wrote on Facebook. “The real good ones go away too quick.”

In an interview with the Daily News, Dhillon described Grewal as a selfless soul who always looked out for others.

“She would do anything for people,” he said. “She would give someone the clothes off her back. She would give someone food and go hungry.”

Ahmad, 23, directed the cabbie to Maimonides Medical Center as he ignored the woman trapped inside the burning vehicle only a few yards away and fled the scene, the video showed.

The suspect, still hospitalized Saturday with burns, was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, speeding and driving with a suspended license.

The suspect’s arraignment was pending as doctors treated him for burns on the neck, arms and legs. Ahmad’s brother pointed to the injuries as proof that Saeed tried to assist the victim.

“After trying to help her get out of the cars, his arms were burned, his neck was burned,” said Waheed Ahmad, 21. “You see a person die in front of you and you are in unimaginable pain, imagine what you would do.”

The video “is just causing us more pain,” Waheed said.

Grewal, 25, died in the fire early Friday. (FACEBOOK)
Police did not know where the couple had been or where they were headed in the early morning hours before Ahmad — speeding in and out of traffic — plowed into a median on the BQE.

The Infiniti spun out of control and burst into flames after screeching to a halt in the middle lane facing oncoming traffic. The video clearly captures the raging blaze behind Ahmad as he climbs into the yellow cab.

Ahmad, of Flatlands, Brooklyn, acknowledged downing a few drinks before the crash — although a blood test showed he was not legally drunk, police sources said.

Grewal worked for a catering company, her family said. Known to friends as Nina, she was the daughter of immigrants from the state of Punjab in northern India, according to neighbors.

“She was a very nice, very beautiful girl,” said another neighbor who worked with Grewal’s mother. “Like my own daughter.”

Our Foreign Minister has started to issue medical visas to Pakistanis once again after demanding earlier that Sartaj Aziz must give letters of recommendation. Sartaj Aziz refused to oblige. We stopped issuing visas for a while. But, again, the floodgates seem to be opening up. This is very unfortunate. This shows absolute inconsistency and confusion in our minds (our usual weakness) on dealing with Terroristan. There is no point in giving a tough talk or two in the UN only to subvert its effects within a few weeks by such extreme generosity, even at the cost of being snubbed by Sartaj Aziz and his successor, even as Pakistan is violating ceasefire and is enacting another drama over Hafeez Saeed. If humaneness is the reason, we should not have gone down this 'medical visa denial' route in the first place at all.

This just in. How to revive the tanking paki stock market....

Brokers demand Rs20bn fund to revive stock market
A market support fund of Rs20 billion should be set up under the management of National Investment Trust (NIT) to revive the stock market, stakeholders told Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday
The participants explained to the prime minister that a similar support fund was also set up during the 2008 stock meltdown under the aegis of NIT. The asset manager was provided with a bank guarantee of Rs20bn by the government to raise funds from state-owned financial institutions.
“We explained to the prime minister that the (2008) support fund worth Rs17bn was later liquidated on market stability in 2014. It fetched the government Rs31bn. It brought a windfall of Rs14bn for the government and helped shore up revenues for the budget,” he said.
The brokers :rotfl: fished out figures and laid them before the prime minister, noting that the stock market has lost as much as $20bn since its peak. The government’s investment was eroded by one-third, or roughly $6bn.
What!! Capital gains from a high risk, paki government-backed securitized fund were once used to finance budget deficits in a global up market? That is some business model. I bet this is what the pakis have learnt from the long term association with the chinese. Oh wait! Chinis have a trillion Dollars in their foreign reserves to provide sovereign guarantees in case the bottom falls off. I am sure the pakis do as well. Oh well, carry on like drunken sailors. What can go wrong with this business model? Everything else is up for grabs in the pureland anyway.

there are "hospitals" and doctors in dilli and bangalore absolutely clamouring for paki medical tourism patients recommended by aunty as it puts these doctors and hospital owners directly in contact with the MEA and the minister and also in the WKK NGO limelight including the all important, politician attending cocktail party circuit.

This is a favoured route for the padma awards as pioneered by some doctors in dilli and at least one TV hogging heart surgeon in bangalore. This poor chap has no clothes and practically lives and always appears on TV, day or night, sunday or holiday, in his green scrubs and his ever present dangling surgical mask.

a good place to hit up people for a few crores in "funds for party donations"

Some of Pakistan's finest military minds have been Ahmadi. Clerics need to stop abusing them
Kashif Chaudhry
When Donald Trump belittled a Muslim American Gold Star family, he received strong backlash from the civil society. The Democratic Party and the media came out in full support of Khizr and Ghazala Khan, whose son captain Humayun Khan had been killed in combat while serving in Iraq. The Gold Star parents were also provided a forum to speak at the Democratic National Convention. And earlier when Mr. Trump questioned Muslim loyalty to the United States, Muslim marine Tayyab Rashid responded with a fitting answer, and received overwhelming support from fellow non-Muslim Americans.
Not really !. Some people who were following this "drama", also came to know that the senior Khan of the "Muslim American Gold Star family" also did his bit in facilitating the entry cum immigration- legally or illegally - of Gulf Arabs into Massaland by providing them with some "dubious advice" through his Immigration Consulting "Business" !
Like us Muslims in America, members of the Ahmadiyya sect (who are forcibly denied the Muslim identity) in Pakistan are also a misunderstood minority faith group. Their patriotism is also questioned by the right wing - and to a far greater extent. They are depicted as "traitors" of Islam and Pakistan, often by mainstream Sunni and Shia clerics. Unfortunately, unlike the United States, their is no political party or segment of mainstream media that comes to their rescue. Their marginalization and "otherness" has been normalized over the last four decades. Good that this writer, sitting in Massaland comes out in supporting the "fate of the Ahmedis" in his homeland of Pakiland . He should fight for them in his homeland !
Take this recent case for an example.Four names were recently proposed to fill the position of Pakistan's new Chief of Army Staff. One of them allegedly has a distant relative that is Ahmadi. And this is keeping the right-wing mullahs up all night! They have started lobbying the state to drop his name and disqualify him immediately from the race. Numerous ads have been published in national papers, and warnings issued to the government. "... He will lead the country to doom. These people (Ahmadis) are the worst enemies of the country," said Professor Sajid Mir, head of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, Pakistan.
Just think about this for a moment. The General is being attacked not for any one of his own failings, but for merely having a relative who belongs to the Ahmadiyya community. I cannot even imagine the extent of prejudice, intolerance and hate these clerics have for the Ahmadis. And so here is the question I have for my fellow Pakistanis. Will we allow Mr. Sajid Mir and other clerics who share his hateful mindset to continue to malign a patriotic Pakistani community? Will we forget that some of our greatest military heroes belong to the Ahmadiyya community? We must all unite at this juncture and stand with our Ahmadi brethren. We owe this to Major General Iftikhar Janjua Shaheed, the only Pakistani general to have laid his life for Pakistan during military combat. He was an Ahmadi. We owe this to Air Marshal Zafar Ahmad Chaudhry, the first Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan and a leading general in the Pakistan Air Force. He was Ahmadi too. We owe this to Lieutenant General Abdul Ali Malik, who won us the largest tank battle after World War II in Chawinda during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. He was an Ahmadi too.We owe this to Lieutenant General Akhtar Hussain Malik, ( right ball of Zia !) a leading commander in the Pakistani Army who made great advances and was on the verge of a big victory when he was suddenly replaced with General Yahya Khan. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is reported to have said: "Had General Akhtar Malik not been stopped in the Chamb-Jaurian Sector, the Indian forces in Kashmir would have suffered serious reverses, but Ayub Khan wanted to make his favorite, General Yahya Khan, a hero." General Akhtar Hussain Malik was also an Ahmadi.
We owe this to Major General Abdullah Saeed, another Ahmadi who served as Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul and Chief Martial Law Administrator for Baluchistan. We owe this to Pakistan Air Force's Squadron leader Munir Ahmad who showed immense determination in the face of heavy odds and beyond the call of duty, flew eight combat missions before finally embracing martyrdom. Munir was Ahmadi too. Am pretty sure that many of the present "top Fauji brass" are Ahmedis in incognito !
We owe this to the numerous Ahmadis who have been martyred on the frontlines, defending our nation and protecting our borders. We also owe this to the numerous Ahmadis who still serve in our military in various capacities. Despite the post-Zia era discrimination, they continue to keep service to nation their top priority.
So here is what we must ask the Sajid Mirs of Pakistan. Do you consider these Ahmadis listed above our national heroes, or will you continue to paint them as traitors of our nation? Shame on you for trying to malign and denigrate the finest of our Armed Forces. Shame on you for insulting our Ahmadi Gold Star families and trying to hurt their pride. Shame on you for continuing to tear apart the nation on sectarian lines.
Did non-Muslim Americans become Muslim by standing up for Khizr and Ghazala Khan? No, they only became decent humans. Why can't we? The Ahmadis have been berated by extremist clerics for far too long. It is time us Pakistanis reject anti-Ahmadi bigotry and stand up for our Pakistani Ahmadi countrymen. Enough is enough! Ahmedis do indeed need a spokesman like Kashif Chaudhry to plead their case with forceful zeal . Time to move to Pakistan and take up their cause Pro Bono

Pakis In Bartania Not Integrating In Mainstream Society ! Living In Their Own Comfortable Ghettos ! UK Govt Report !

UK govt data highlights ‘uncomfortable truths’ for Pakistanis
LONDON: People of different colours and ethnicities face increased disadvantages in the British society, stated a British Cabinet Disparity Report on Saturday. The report aims to highlight how people from various ethnic backgrounds in the UK compare across healthcare, employment, education and the criminal justice system.Sources close to the British Cabinet Office said: “Other communities have integrated very well, but the audit shows that Pakistani women who don’t speak English or go out to work are living in an entirely different society and are shockingly badly integrated.”
The report also revealed educational achievements within Asian groups: attainment levels are higher amongst Indian pupils who are more likely to meet the expected standards for their age group and make progress within targets set by the UK education board compared to Pakistani pupils. For example, 65% of Indian pupils met the expected standards for reading, writing and maths at Key Stage 2 compared to only 47% of Pakistani pupils. Key stage 2 or KS2 is the official term for the four years of schooling in maintained schools in England and Wales when students are aged between 7 and 11. No = = here
The number of Pakistanis residing in the most deprived areas of the UK is disproportionally high.Pakistani’s comprise approximately 31% of the population. A sizeable portion is living in deprived neighbourhoods that are usually disadvantaged across multiple areas of life; including unemployment, low income and education. Furthermore, Indian, White British, Chinese and other White ethnic groups are not living disproportionately in these neighbourhoods.
The audit has received backlash from activists, including former London Deputy Mayor Munira Mirz. In an open letter to The Times, London, she wrote the government’s approach was “crude and tendentious” that may “harm the very communities they are aspiring to help”. Political correctness has gone too far !!!
However, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid  rejected the criticisms and said: “Although the data would not provide the answers to why the disparity existed, the government wants to work with outside groups to come up with better ways that can tackle the injustice.” Political correctness has gone too far !!!

Pakistan thrashed 3-1 by India in Asia Cup

Image
India finish with three wins in as many matches in Group A.

Pakistan were thrashed 3-1 on Sunday by India in the 2017 Asia Cup Group A match at Dhaka’s Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.

India played aggressive hockey in the third quarter to add to their one goal lead and go 3-0 up to make a comeback impossible for Pakistan.

Chinglen Kangujam opened the scoring for India in the 17th minute courtesy a field goal.

Ramandeep Singh doubled the lead in the 44th minute, while Harmanpreet Singh added another in the 45th minute through a penalty corner.

For Pakistan, at the start of the fourth quarter, Ali Shan was able to clinch one back but Greenshirts were not able to break India’s defence after that.

This was India’s fifth consecutive win against Pakistan in all tournaments.

Earlier, Pakistan beat Bangladesh 7-0 and scored a 2-2 draw against Japan in their first two group matches.

India top Group A with nine points, with three wins from as many matches.

Pakistan and Japan are tied on four points, while Bangladesh lost their three matches to end on the last spot in the group.

That scoreline flatters the Porkis. India actually played pretty poorly, missed penalty corners and clear shots on goal, and wasted without scoring a period when they were playing 11 against 9. Should have been at least 5 or 6 goals by India.

Mush Pontificates On Paki Corruption

Throw corrupt politicians out of country, says ex-military ruler Musharraf

This "loud mouth" Kammandu has no right to pass judgement on Paki Corruption. He was part of the corrupt system . Commission on arms purchase, when he was Head Of Fauj . And what about the - straight from the horse's mouth confession- admission that he "sweet talked" late King Abdullah of Saudia to part with $ 1 Million plus US . That is how he explain the ownership of his London flat and Dubai Condo ! The rest of the farticle includes his "usual boasting "

This Chini- Guy ( Lijian Zhao) Is Quite Over Active In "Anything CPEC". Used to have "Mohamed" ( real or fake who knows !), at one time, as his middle name . Suddenly, dropped it like a "hot potato" on instructions from Beijing

Paki R.A.P.E Author Mohsin Hamid - Shorted Listed For Booker Prize - Nows Basks In Glory :D

Exit West by Mohsin Hamid
Strait Times
Pakistani Mohsin Hamid, 46, came close to winning the Booker in 2007 with his second novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Exit West, his fourth novel, draws in part on his own experience as a migrant who has shuttled between Pakistan, the United States and Britain for much of his life. With a British passport (and a Paki British wife to boot )firmly in hand, as an insurance policy, he has now decided to settle permanently in La-Whore and "start a family" among his myriad Islami followers and admirers and pontificate on western society via his novels !. No more "alienation" in Bartania and Massaland
In an unnamed country ( you do not need to be a "rocket scientist" to take a guess on this ! :D ) on the brink of civil war, an odd relationship slowly blossoms between sweet-natured Saeed, an advertising agency employee living with his doting parents, and Nadia, who lives alone, rides a motorcycle and, despite swathing herself in long black robes, does not pray.
Their love story plays out against a bleak backdrop of mounting violence between government and rebel forces, as bombings and shootings grow more rampant and society dissolves into chaos and paranoia.
Saeed and Nadia soon start looking for a way out of the country, after hearing rumours of magical doors that can transport people to distant lands. These mysterious portals - which the authorities are racing to discover and block off - remove much of the drama of the protagonists' flight west, away from a war-torn homeland; there are no long, arduous journeys across land and sea here.
But Mohsin Hamid spins a sobering tale anyway, not of the physical obstacles that dog refugees on their search for safety, but of the psychology of refugees once they succeed in their bid for freedom.
In leaving their homes behind to survive and rebuild their lives, they have condemned themselves to exile in unfamiliar countries where locals are organising riots to protest against the influx of immigrants.Saeed and Nadia have fled a home being dissolved by war, but arrive again and again in societies being torn apart by hatred and prejudice. As they live in foreign lands, their understanding of religion, nationhood and identity diverges. They can no longer reconcile their beliefs and gently, quietly drift apart. If the protagonists of his novel have immigrated in a legal way , there is nothing to fear. But if they got out of Pakiland ( my guess !) illegally, then of course they will "face problems" in the new country
Still, Exit West - Hamid's first novel in four years - is a poignant take on the refugee crisis, coming amid a tide of rising xenophobia. While the book ends with the disintegration of a young migrant couple's dream of starting a new life together, it also closes on a note of hope.Saeed and Nadia must go on their separate paths, but they have survived. And the societies that at first reacted with violence against them and their ilk soon realise that they are here to stay.
At the end, the message is acceptance - something the world could do well to remember these days. The concept of acceptance has to work both ways ! Islamic societies like Pakistan should do well to adopt toleration of other faiths in their own society . IMO, the author is probably living in a bubble or a cocoon - away from the unwashed and hungry Abduls . Belongs to the RAPE category

Pakistan thrashed 3-1 by India in Asia Cup

Pakistan were thrashed 3-1 on Sunday by India in the 2017 Asia Cup Group A match at Dhaka’s Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.
And then there was this paki newspaper headline that seemed to suggest something else.

Asia Cup: India survive Pakistan scare
The blockbuster match brought the best hockey out of the two teams leaving the local crowd wanting for more
The first quarter started evenly as both sides looked threatening on the attack
Pakistan defended well and looked to hurt India on the counter
the Pakistan’s defence held their nerves
Just like the '71 tête-à-tête, it could have gone either way.
