Pakistani economy is not really in that bad shape......So it looks like Pakistan is going to become IMF’s customer again.

WHAT!!??? I am shocked, I say, shocked. And here's my resident emoticon to express my utter shock:  Especially after I had read this long goodbye 16 months ago:

Nawaz says 'goodbye' to IMF as final payment cleared

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif echoed the sentiment, saying Pakistan was able to stand on its own feet economically.
The Pakistani delegation in Dubai was led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who welcomed the conclusion of the programme
Pakistan was ready to go it alone once this package concluded

Paki noosepaper's to-do list for 2018.

To-do list for the new year

2018 could be a historically significant year for Pakistan
First, the general election....A free and fair election is an essential condition for a healthy democracy
Second, the fight against extremism.
Third, the regional security situation will need to be carefully managed. From Afghanistan to India and from the US to the intensifying conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Pakistan has a delicate balancing task ahead....The bright spot is relations with China and deeper ties via CPEC 8)

IMO, this could be seen as the next logical step towards the mainstreaming of Hafiz- Suar's JUD and the other Islami outfits, which the Paki Fauj is keen to put in place before the 2018 Election. Now, the Deep State can claim that they are taking steps that the international community is "demanding". Where-in fact what is being done here , IMO, is that the Paki Govt is just holding the assets ( bank accounts, real estate, etc etc ) of JUD "in trust" for them, until they could be returned back or "whitewashed/ drycleaned " to legitimize them.

Looks like Paki goose is cooked :((

I remember a time not long ago when we’d have celebrated in the streets over such a statement from a sitting US president. If the US had taken this stand 16 years ago, we’d have done anything for them, including even going to war alongside them in Iraq (possibly).

But now, after 16 years and incalculable damage done to our security from $33 billion in free money for nukes, weapons, terrorizing, etc... no, after 16 years of that, it’s too damned late. At this point, f*ck the US and any gestures they make. Never trust them again. Ever.

Remember, the nature of the beast has not changed. As soon as Trump is gone, the deep state will be back in charge (I mean, they’re still mostly in charge even now). Anyway once the ruling establishment has reasserted control of the US govt (in 4-7 years, max), the bad old days will return, and the same old pro-Saudi\pro-Sunni\anti-Russia\anti-India agenda will return with a vengeance. They’ll have 8 years of neglect to make up for!

China rushes to Pakistan rescue after Donald Trump's outburst - PTI
China today defended Pakistan saying the world community should acknowledge its all-weather ally's "outstanding contribution" to counter terrorism, a day after US President Donald Trump lashed out at Islamabad for providing safe havens to terrorists.

Today China, on expected lines, praised Pakistan's counter terrorism record.

"Pakistan has made enormous efforts and sacrifice for the fight against terrorism and has made very outstanding contribution to the global cause of counter terrorism. The international community should acknowledge that," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said here when asked about Trump's criticism of Pakistan.

He said China is glad to see Pakistan engaging in international cooperation, including counter terrorism, on the basis of mutual respect so as to contribute to regional peace and stability.

"China and Pakistan are all weather partners. We stand ready to promote and deepen our all-round cooperation so as to bring benefits to the two sides," Geng said.

Analysts here [Beijing] say US is mounting pressure on Pakistan as it has firmed up an alliance with Beijing by allowing heavy Chinese investments in the strategic CPEC corridor providing China access to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Asked whether Trump's criticism would affect China's efforts to bring peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Geng said "We believe as neighbours China, Pakistan and Afghanistan are closely linked not only geographically but also in terms of common interests. It is natural for us to enhance communication and exchanges". {China is trying to oust USA from Afghan peace process or at least limit its effectiveness}

He said during the December 26 trilateral meet, the three countries "reached a lot of consensus" on cooperation.

This included the three nations enhancing cooperation on counter terrorism and fighting against terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

"The parties will enhance cooperation in this regard," Geng said.

Trump makes Pakistan pay for 'lies, deceit', blocks $255 million military aid

WASHINGTON: The United States has suspended its $255 million military aid to Pakistan for now, the White House has confirmed, saying the fate of such assistance will depend on Islamabad's response to terrorism on its soil.

The confirmation comes on the same day when US President Donald Trump accused Pakistan of giving nothing to the US+ but "lies and deceit" and providing "safe haven" to terrorists in return for $33 billion aid over the last 15 years.

"The United States does not plan to spend the $255 million in FY 2016 in Foreign Military Financing for Pakistan at this time," a senior administration official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

"The president has made clear the US expects Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists and militants on its soil, and that Pakistan's actions in support of the South Asia Strategy will ultimately determine the trajectory of our relationship, including future security assistance," he said.

The US administration continues to review Pakistan's level of cooperation, the official said.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump, in his first tweet of the New Year, blasted the Pakistan leadership by saying that they have given America "nothing but lies and deceit" despite having received more than $33 billion in last 15 years.

Image

"They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!" Trump said, clearly indicating that Pakistan would no longer receive any security aid from the US till the time it sees a change in behaviour from them in fight against terrorism.

Within hours, the Pakistani Defence Ministry fired back alleging that it has got "nothing but invective and mistrust" for all the actions it took in support of America's war against terrorism.

"Pak as anti-terror ally has given free to US: land & air communication, military bases & intel cooperation that decimated al-Qaida over last 16 years, but they have given us nothing but invective & mistrust. They overlook cross-border safe havens of terrorists who murder Pakistanis," the Pakistan Defence Ministry said in a tweet.

Image

Trump who returned to the White House from Mar-a-Lago in Florida where he spent his Christmas and New Year vacation did not respond to shouted questions from reporters on "what is your plan on Pakistan?"

Several US lawmakers came out in support of Trump adopting a tough approach on Pakistan.

"I support the decision today by President Trump to end aid to Pakistan," Republican Congressman Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma said.

"You're either with the US, or against us. We will always help our friends, but for too long, the US has propped up countries that do not share our goal to end terrorism. I'm proud to see our president take bold steps to put America first," Mullin said.

"I couldn't agree more," tweeted Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky.

"I've been fighting to end aid to Pakistan for years and will again lead the charge in the Senate," said Paul.

Samantha Vinograd, CNN's national security analyst spoke in favour of Trump's move.

"As a way to make it clear to the Pakistanis that enough is enough, if President Trump actually follows through, it could be an effective move," she said in an opinion piece published on the CNN website.

"It isn't the only step by any means, but it could be the right one," she said.

How is US making Pakis pay? It is not if it is Pakis money.

This drama will continue for few days, then ISI chief will get his New Year trip to US, some joker will be handed over and money will be promptly released.

X Posted on the Neutering & Defanging Chinese Threat and Analyzing CPEC Threads

China media advises India to shun hostility, join CPEC

BEJING: Chinese state media has once again extended invitation to India to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and advised New Dehli to shun policy of antagonism towards its neighbours.

State-owned Global Times in an opinion piece on Tuesday stated that major world powers have abandoned the traditional mind-set of geopolitical competition after the Cold War and embraced peace and development in keeping with the spirit of the times. However, some countries, such as India, still swear by the outdated geopolitical strategy and base their sense of security on narrow national interests and political confrontation.

India’s strategic considerations are underpinned by its traditional geopolitical strategy. India reckons regional cooperation promoted by China will bring about a zero-sum game and even jeopardize its national security and interests. New Delhi’s clout will weaken because of its dwindling ties with adjacent states. SOLLY! CHIN-CHIN CHOP CHOP CHOP. INDIA NOT LIKEEE TLAVELSING THLOUGH TELLOLISTAN

When some powers outside the region enter and affect India’s sphere of influence, more countries in the region are eager to break away with India. As a result, the geopolitical game in the region surrounding India is likely to grow stronger.

India’s opposition to the Belt and Road initiative not only deprives it of an opportunity for development and shows its jealousy toward its neighbors gaining from the initiative, but also reflects New Delhi’s dread and delusion with China attempting to grab its sphere of influence.

In addition, the world may suspect that Beijing is trying to isolate New Delhi through the initiative. Hence, India’s allegation that its national interests will likely be affected by China’s efforts to extend the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan may sound reasonable. Undeniably, India brings trouble to itself making it lose development opportunities.

In fact, the Belt and Road initiative is designed to boost international cooperation following the principle of shared growth through discussion and win-win cooperation.

Instead of pursuing a country’s growth at the cost of others or damaging interests of a nation, the initiative is a new geopolitical collaborative model characterized by joint participation and shared development.

China and other countries welcome India to join the initiative. Extending the CPEC to Afghanistan is not intended to undermine India, but to enhance the economic corridor. HA! HA!! HA!!!

As emerging powers responsible for propelling the new international order, China and India should abandon an outdated antagonistic mind-set, uphold the values of friendship, justice and shared interests, participate in regional governance and develop new state-to-state relations.

That’s how we can foster a peaceful global environment and stable international order, strive for development featuring openness, innovation, inclusiveness and mutual benefits, boost national, regional and global development and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Comments : When will the Chinese Lealn that India DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING WITH TELLOLISTAN!

Actually, that is exactly what the pakis intend to do.

Trump's 'incomprehensible' accusations contradict facts, negate Pakistani sacrifices: NSC

The US president's allegations were "completely incomprehensible as they contradicted facts manifestly, struck with great insensitivity at the trust between [the] two nations built over generations, and negated the decades of sacrifices made by the Pakistani nation"
Following the NSC meeting, Foreign Minister Asif challenged President Trump's claim that the US has given Pakistan "more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years", saying verification by an audit firm would prove the US president wrong.
8)
The foreign minister offered that Trump could hire a US-based audit firm "on our expense" to verify the $33 billion aid figure and "let the world know who is lying & deceiving".

Will it be Deloitte & Touche or Ernest & Young? So the pakis have doubt on the exact $ amount. Not on whether the pakis have really provided that ...er...personal service.

Paklurkj, pleaj be forewarned!!

INDIAN AGENCY RAW PLANS ON SUBDUING PAKISTANI YOUTH USING YOUNG BEAUTIFUL WOMEN AS BAIT

In a fresh new update, as per one senior Pakistani journalist, Indian agency RAW is trying out a new tactic of espionage in Pakistan, where the Pakistani youth itself will play part in the sabotage of their country.
Allegedly, RAW is creating a new program which will involve young and beautiful Indian women, around 10,000 of them, to subdue Pakistani youth through their beauty and love on different social media websites. These accounts on social media will be run by these women who would be under the directive of the Indian intelligence agency.
Accounts with names such as: Payal Patel, Pinky Kumar, Rekha Singh, Angel Chandni, Priya Singh, Saman Sera, Reshma Parveen, Kavita Singh, Pooja, Neetu Kumari, Neesha Kumari, Patel Sheetal, Suneeta Kumar, Sangeetha Waghani, Sonu Sunami, Reetu Sharma and others will be used to contact Pakistanis on Facebook and Twitter. These accounts will then do anything in-and-out of limitations :rotfl: to forcefully make Pakistani men fall for them.
they would force these men to come to India and start working for Indian intelligence
Thus, all Pakistani men must try and avoid any contact with Indians on social media — as this trick would now be under the FIA and other agencies’ radar.

International ships may soon stop visiting Karachi port due to widespread pollution, Senate body told

The Senate's Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was informed on Tuesday that international ships may soon stop visiting the Karachi seaport due to the rising amount of pollution in the coastal region.
In a briefing on the matter, the committee was told that Karachi receives around 500 million gallons of water every day and subsequently, an equal quantity of polluted water is dumped into the sea on a daily basis.
It was said that around 275 million gallons of sewerage were released daily from Karachi Port, whereas another 136 million gallons was dumped by the upscale Defence Housing Authority.

How is US making Pakis pay? It is not if it is Pakis money.

This drama will continue for few days, then ISI chief will get his New Year trip to US, some joker will be handed over and money will be promptly released.

I will take it seriously when the F16 spare parts are sanctioned.

Absolutely. The US could go further and block lending from the IMF, WB, ADB and other large financial institutions. Pak would see an immediate currency devaluation, a quick drain of FOREX and cause them to default putting them further in the hole. Pakis will jump further in to the Chinese sphere. The Chinese are not stupid and will extract their pound of flesh for any monies lent. This is what we're looking for next. Following that, blocking spares & logistics for all western weapon systems.

whatever this guy is smoking, its really powerful stuff.

Pakistan, a rising power

Pakistan, a rising power

December 23, 2017,

Sunil Sharan in Strategic Insights

Visit the two countries. There is hardly any difference. The same bustling bazaars. The same chockablock traffic, screeching until one’s ears go mad. The same apparent, abysmal poverty. The same top five percent lording over everyone else.

The same corruption. Over the same things, be it bribing traffic cops or receiving cuts on imported fighter jets. The same contempt for politicians, militaries held in the same high esteem. The same looks, the same stuff being watched and listened to, the same flanneled fool’s sport being obsessed over, in which none of the countries is the world champion, nor will ever be, at least in the foreseeable future (World champion means you gotta win in Australia and South Africa.)

The only differences between the two nations seem that one’s currency is plastered with one father of the nation, and the other’s with the other’s father of the nation. Both fathers of the nation and their teachings forgotten in only seventy years, and whose memory is invoked by the powers that be to burnish their own images. The fathers would go mad if they were to come and see how their names are being misused and by whom. And the other difference is that signs are in different languages, which sound the same though.

Yet, one nation is a rising power, ready to take its rightful place in the comity of nations, while the other is deemed a global pariah, a jelly state if not a failed state. Huh? How did this happen?

The reality is different. The world pays lip service to India for its large middle class and its ability to buy arms on a large scale. India seems to consider this courting as its emergence on the world stage.

Scratch the surface, and you will find something else. The US is denying Indians H1-B visas. The US has delinked the Haqqanis, who they want, from Hafiz Saeed, who they couldn’t care less about, so that they can give dollops of aid to the Pakistanis.

Today the Yanks hector the Pakistanis, but that is empty bluster. The Pakistanis have trumped them; the Yanks’ wails appear like crocodile tears. The Yanks forgot when they invaded Afghanistan and enlisted the Pakistanis’ help by threatening to bomb them into the stone age that the Pakistanis had been there once before.

That time they trumped the Russians, with significant money and arms from the Americans and the Saudis. But the Americans never took to battle in Afghanistan the first time round. Sure they had read that Afghanistan was a graveyard for empires, from the British to the Soviet, but they believed, foolishly, that they themselves would win out.

They struck a Faustian bargain with the Pakistanis, without ever realizing that they were dealing with the devil. In the nineties, the Pakistanis used Afghanistan to hijack Indian planes and launch jihad in Kashmir. Afghanistan had become both strategic depth as well as a launching pad for them. How were they expected to give up this twin treat?

Once the Yanks entered Kabul, the Taliban vanished. Into thin air? Oh no, many of them disappeared into Pakistan. The Yanks forgot about Afghanistan, until first the Iraqis, and then the Taliban, started knocking their teeth out. One by one their Nato brethren fled Afghanistan, until the Yanks realized that they had to flee as well.

Go to Kabul today, and you will find disdain for Pakistan everywhere. But the Pakistanis don’t care. The real people who matter in Afghanistan are the Taliban, and you don’t find many of them in Kabul. The writ of the government of Afghanistan extends over only Kabul, much as the later-day Mughals were derided as the mayors of Delhi.

The Taliban control over sixty percent of the country. The Talibs don’t like the Pakistanis, referring to them often as blacklegs. But the Talibs need Pakistan to capture Kabul, much as the Pakistanis need the Taliban to capture Afghanistan.

The Pakistanis are disdainful of the threats emanating from the Yanks. The Yanks need Pakistani territory to transport supplies to their legionaries in Afghanistan. The Pakistanis blocked their land routes once, and all hell broke loose then. It’s almost impossible to transport goods from the west of Afghanistan.

In courting China, Pakistan has been shrewd. India cannot win a two-front war, and the whole world knows that. As the Chinese and the Pakistanis together wear out India in any conventional conflict, India would have to resort to strategic weapons. But that is a big ask, for it would risk making India an international pariah. Just at that stage, Pakistan would unveil its Kashmir card.

Second, by making India have two enemies instead of one, Pakistan forces India to up its defence budget, while lowering its own earmarks to levels much lower than they would have been in case India did not have to consider China. Its sad how Indian policymakers have been taken in by Pakistan’s love affair with China. They have tried to ween China away from Pakistan, but to no avail.

Today Pakistan stands on the cusp of victory in Afghanistan. It spurns the Americans for the Chinese, and lo and behold, the Russians, the very people it had helped kick out of Afghanistan. Politics, or rather realpolitik, sure does make for strange bedfellows.

Pakistan is able to stymie India at every international forum, be it the UN or the nuclear suppliers group. There have even been strong rumours about the Obama administration offering the Pakistanis their own nuclear deal. Trump yells and curses at the Pakistanis, but is the first one to give it gobs of military aid.

Pakistan sure doesn’t seem like a loser. It appears to have come out of Afghanistan smelling of roses. It can blackmail America to its heart’s content, and what is more, happily get away with it. Does it seem like a failed state? A terrorist state? A terrorized state? At least not now. For now it seems that Pakistan’s star, that star in their beloved crescent, is rising. And rising.

Pakistan has played a double game with US for years: Nikki Haley - PTI

Duh !

Pakistan has played a "double game" with the United States for years, US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has alleged, saying it is unacceptable to the Trump administration.

Haley came out in support of President Donald Trump's decision to block $255 million military aid to Pakistan.

"There are clear reasons for this. Pakistan has played a double game for years," Haley told reporters at a new conference at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.

"They (Pakistanis) work with us at times, and they also harbour the terrorists that attack our troops in Afghanistan. That game is not acceptable to this administration," Haley said.

The Trump administration expects far more co-operation from Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, she said.

"Trump is willing to go to great lengths to stop all funding from Pakistan as they continue to harbour and support terrorism," Haley said in her opening remarks during her first news conference of the year.

Haley said the aid issue is connected solely to Pakistan's harbouring of terrorists.

All that Pakistan needs to do is some cosmetic stuff and presto, it will be all hunky-dory between the two 'Made for each other couple'.

The seasoned thieves that the Pakis are, they know exactly how to handle the Americans.

As I said earlier Pakistan must do the following in order to improve its economy,

1. Stop wastage of forex by unnecessary power production, keep power to only Fauji and their Family areas, any aam abdul trying to enter must be shot by Faujis, rest of the Paki population can live 7th century lifestyle.
2. Stop unnecessary industry and Agriculture- keep only cattle rearing and leather industries with Tanneries located as soon Indus enters Pakistan. Helps Pakistan become more of a 7th century Desert area.
3. Have large scale open cast mining open to foreigners.
4. Stop all ammunition production, keep a few arms depots with the rest imported on JIT basis from China.
5. Shut down all universities and schools, only quranic studies in Madrasas should be allowed.

OT for this thread but it is about Nikki Haley madam :D

Nikki Haley seemingly tricked by Russian pranksters into commenting on fictional country 'Binomo'

A pair of Russian comedians appear to have successfully tricked the US’ Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, into commenting on a fictional Asian country.

The two comedians Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus, posted a 22 minute audio clip of their conversation with the ambassador where they get her to comment on the situation in Binomo – a fictional country in the South China Sea.
