Rudra in IAF Squadron Service with MAWS & FoD Air Filters.

This variant would be great for the IN Anti Piracy / Littoral Warfare role dropping MARCOS in addition to armed patrol where we presently use MMG armed Chetaks.

When armed with HeliNAG or Spike, it can take out Azmat class missile boats beyond the range of their AA weapons

Inviting 10 ASEAN leaders as chief guests on R- day is a master stroke. As I've been advocating for ages,India has to create its own leadership in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region by being a magnet for smaller powers.By bringing ASEAN closer together to India it also sends a message to certain S Asian states who are succumbing to Chinese debt blackmail, showing them that there are alternatives in joining a security grouping with India at its centre.

Women’s Motor Cycle team ‘Seema Bhawani’ of Border Security Force will be the main attraction of the spectacle, which was raised at Central School of Motor Transport (CSMT), BSF Academy Tekanpur on 20th October 2016. The BSF motorcycle team ‘Seema Bhawani’ is led by Sub Inspector Stanzin Noryang.

The splendid driving skills of ‘Seema Bhawani’ will display stunts like Salute to President, Fish Riding, Side Riding, Faulaad, Prachand Baalay Shaktiman, Four Harmony, Mobile PT, Bull Fighting, Peacock, Sapt Rishi, Brahma Yog Guldasta, Wind Mill Formation, Seema Prahari, Bharat Ke Mustaid Prahari, Sarhad Ke Nigheban and Flag March Pyramid.

This time it will be ladies special.

Both in foreground and in background( Min of def. , Min of I&B and min of ext aff. ).

That lady was really doing great things in Min. HRD till that event in Hyd made her to vacate.

This is a golden opportunity to showcase India in all the 10 countries..

The simultaneous target tracking of 7 looks erroneous, otherwise a single Grad/BM-21 salvo of 40 rockets would overwhelm it.

There would probably a smart algorithm to track one/two from a source since that is all that is required to pin point that source. Rest from that source can be ignored.

so many VIPs involved obviously security is an issue ...
may be due to time constraint...
parade also should include cultural themes.

Happy Republic Day

Chalo , at least the infantry and marching parades are Indian

The Russkies and other foreign vendors must be laughing their balls off at all the free PR - that too to 10 foreign heads of state

Great show

No Agni. How does India show itself as a counterweight to ASEAN against China if they can’t even psyops with its own missiles.

The helicopters at parade start with petals did not come?

^You do not want to scare off the ASEAN nations either. We are not providing missile coverage for them. Neither we will be putting in ballistic missiles on their soil or selling it to them for quite a while in future. Why scare them then?

^it is done purposely I think...
.

If we read between the lines,,
if we see behind the scenes,,
if we listen to them carefully,,,,
we realize it is just to showcase mantris and their families......that too public/faujis saluting mantris in all forms and shape... this is what is embedded in the DNA of Doordarshan to show..

difficult to change in short span of time. Or no one wants to change it.

I watched it online but video had DD logo on it, so presumably we watched same thing. Air quality was terrible, yes I heard the roar and focus on some random person. We need to fix our pollution first. Can't pussy-foot around it with cute terms like "mist" and "fog".

My pet peeve with the Republic Day parade is the weather; Nai Dilli just doesn't pass the muster no more. The powers-that-be must either change the date or change the town/city where this is held. My preference is to move to another town/city with much better visibility at this time of the year.

Republic day flypast weather was always bad - even before pollution became bad. It has been cancelled many times in the past.

It is actually Fog. The flypast as has been mentioned above has been cancelled in the past because of it. In fact that was also a concern this time but luckily the air cleared.

Every year they do the same :x

Don't they know how to do some basic split screen if they really want to show people/dignitary as a side show? Something like this:

IMO this is the defining image of the R-Day celebrations. @rashtrapatibhvn wiping his tears after awarding Ashok Chakra to the family of Corporal Nirala. Rashtrapatiji, the people of India share this emotion & indebted to our soldiers.

I doubt it. PM2.5 was 175+, it is clearly particulate matter pollution suspended in air by fog, i.e. smog.

President's moment of emotion was doubly touching to those of us who were already fighting back tears.

Folks any pictures of SPG personnel who are not in the vicinity of PM this year? We used to get pictures of them from recent Republic Parades like these:

I searched but was not able to find pics from this year's parade.

The guy on the right has been around for years. As an aside, did anyone notice how some of the parade participants were smiling this year? Usually everyone marching has a serious expression. Lots of regiment of artillery marching contingent members were smiling for the camera. Ditto for the Dogra regiment. The President's ADC was also smiling. A welcome change from previous years I think.

Also, the state and government department tableaus are so juvenile. They should scrap them and only focus on the military aspects of the parade!

I liked the Maharashtra tableu. To hear "Jai Bhavani! Jai Shivaji" with waving of saffron flag on R'Day parade was an emotional moment. The ancient civilization of this land is still alive despite all odds!

In an otherwise awful Rday(the military part you could have blinked and missed it) - this made me feel good - after the disaster from previous R day medal presentation

but still they need to do something about making a grief stricken widow walk the long walk upstairs and back
