X Posted from the Pakistan Economic Stress Watch thread.

Nothing not long ago anticipated here on BRF. The News, citing an anonymous “National Accounts Committee member” and additionally a Member of Economic Advisory Council (EAC), one Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan, reporting that the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan is staring at a GDP contraction in US Dollar terms to around USD 280 Billion in Fiscal Year 2018-19 from USD 330 Billion for FY 2017-18.

This after all being the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan which has a penchant for putting out Sialkot Statistics and Madrassah Maths, no comment on the report that GDP for Fiscal 2017-18 was indeed USD 330 Billion:

ISLAMABAD: In a major setback to the country, Pakistan’s GDP size is feared to be contracted by 15 percent from $330 billion in current financial year 2017-18 to almost $280 billion in 2018-19 and accordingly the per capita income that represents the average living standards of everyone in the country will decline by 16.7 percent from $1,640 to $1,366.

Though the National Accounts Committee will finalise the GDP size and per capita income and growth of economic sectors of economy by first week of May as the government has so far planned to present the budget of the country for 2019-20 on May 17 but this date is not yet finalised.

However, one of the National Accounts Committee members confirmed to The News that Pakistan’s GDP size is to decline in dollar terms to almost $280 billion from $330 billion showing the contraction by 15 percent. He said that per capita income will also plummet by almost 16.7 percent to $1,366 per person from $1,640. Keeping in view the eight months data and expected GDP growth that is to hover between 3.5 to 4 percent, it can easily be gauged that GDP size of the country is going to contract to $280 billion in dollar terms. To a question, he said the NAC will finalise the GDP growth based on the nine months data.

Member of Economic Advisory Council (EAC) and Principal and Dean of School of Social Sciences and Humanities at NUST Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan also came up with the working about the GDP growth of the current financial year confirming that that GDP size is expected to go down to almost $280 billion. He said depreciation of Pak Rupee is far greater than the nominal GDP at price market owing to which size of the GDP will alarmingly shrink.

According to the NAC member, if the average exchange rate of dollar during the current year is set at Rs135 and fiscal deficit is kept close to 4 percent, the GDP size will climb down to $280 billion. To a question, he said the current value of dollar is at Rs143 and if it is assumed to go by June 30, 2019 up to Rs150 after joining the IMF programme, the average exchange rate will stand at Rs135. ……..

X Posted from the Pakistani Role In Global Terrorism thread.

Tooba Gondal, described earlier by Vice in a separate Dec 20, 2016 article (Clicky) as “a 22-year-old French-born, British - Pakistani woman who grew up in east London” and who acted as recruiter of other sisterly momina’s for supplying terrestrial houris for the sexual gratification of male members of the Sunni Mohammadden Terrorism Group, Islamic State, is begging to return to Kaafir Non Mohammadden Islamic Emirate of England, held Scotland, occupied Wales and English Administered Ireland.

The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan must do its self imposed IEDological Mohammadden duty and stop this grovelling of a sisterly momina before Kaafirs by providing shelter for this other “Daughter of Pakistan”, within the Islamic Republic itself:

 Tabdeeli! The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan will get opportunity to fulfil Z.A. Bhutto’s boast of eating grass in full measure and then some :rotfl: . Finance Minister Asad Umar, in a social media interaction says “Our basic debts are so big that we are near bankruptcy” 8) .

Excerpt from the transcript of the social media interaction from the website of the Imran Khan Niazi led ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party:

………….. But the difference is, in the words of the IMF in this very room, when I was telling them that I don’t want to burden our own awaam... the imf reps themselves said to me that the burden of debt you have inherited is unprecedented. The long speeches that they do today, look at the situation they left Pakistan in. Our basic debts are so big that we are near bankruptcy. You are going go the IMF with these massive debts in toe for a bailout. We have had to fill big gaps; the last three months of PMLn we were bleeding 2 billion dollars a month. Immediate measures we had to take were to squeeze imports to in the long run increase our exports. Think of it as entering an operation theatre where a surgeon is standing to save a persons life post heart attack; will you say he’s cutting him open or he’s saving his life? You have to treat the condition to cure it. We have taken on a vested interest which no one thought we would ever take on. If you are not ready to take on these tough decisions then forget reforms. ……………..

The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the UN peddles the snakeoil of the manufactured narrative of Mohammadden victimhood, namely of Islamophobia, to provide a burka coverup of the real problem that Islamoreligioxenophobia and Islamofascism poses to global peace and security:

'Erasing the poor': Pakistanis feel crunch of rising prices : Reuters

ISLAMABAD / KARACHI: Pakistan's surging petrol prices have more than halved the income of taxi driver Yasir Sultan, just one of many consumers whose faith in a government elected last year on a pledge to help the poor has been shattered.

Inflation at its highest in more than five years has shocked many Pakistanis who voted for Prime Minister Imran Khan and his promise to eradicate poverty, create jobs and build an Islamic welfare state.

"Imran Khan has said big things about getting rid of poverty, but he isn't erasing poverty. He is erasing the poor," Sultan, 30, told Reuters.

"Sometimes I think I should set this taxi on fire," he said from behind the wheel of his rundown 1980s-era Suzuki Mehran.

Wrestling with a ballooning current account deficit as it seeks a 13th bailout package from the International Monetary Fund, the government has a hard choice - impose pain now or face a balance of payments crisis that could crash the economy.

Foreign reserves of $8.5 billion are better than the start of the year, but barely cover two months' worth of imports

"Demand compression is part of stabilisation to bring down current account and trade deficits," said Asad Sayeed, an economist at the Collective for Social Science Research.

Inflation was over 9.4 percent in March, its highest since November 2013, with strong increases in food and energy, the two most sensitive items for most consumers.

The central bank forecasts growth at 3.5-4 per cent in the 12 months to end June, well off a government target of 6.2 percent.

With a large pool of surplus labour keeping wage rises in check, living standards will suffer, Sayeed said.

"I voted for PTI believing in Khan's slogan for the change. Now, I am repenting," said Sara Salman in the bustling eastern city of Lahore, referring to the prime minister's party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

With the rupee losing over a quarter of its value in the past year, the squeeze is acute in the creaking power sector where the government is under pressure to cut subsidies cushioning consumers against sharp price hikes.

Authorities on Monday hiked petrol prices by 6 rupees to 98.88 rupees ($0.70) a litre, bringing pain to skilled workers who earn 1,000-1,300 rupees ($7.08-9.20) a day and labourers who make up to 600-800 rupees.

The price hikes will keep consumers away from all but essential items, economists say.

" The fiscal trajectory now depends on what extent the government is going to adjust energy prices," said Saad Hashmey, chief economist at Topline Securities, adding it has to fix the energy deficit and bring earnings in line with production costs.

"If they are to go the full extent they need to plug the gap, then inflation in a few months will go into double digits," he said.

FRIENDLY COUNTRIES

Finance minister Asad Umer has said an IMF deal could be agreed by May, its 13th bailout since the late 1980s and the last one needed by Pakistan, the government says.

While talks continue, Pakistan has sought help from China, its partner in the $60-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, part of Beijing's vast Belt and Road infrastructure initiative.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have also extended about $11 billion in loans and credit arrangements on oil deliveries in recent months.

The government says it is stepping up efforts to replace imports with domestic production and build up an export sector that has traditionally relied on textiles with special economic zones designed to attract new investment.

It is also trying to widen the tax net to boost collections, but has struggled on both fronts.

Rising oil prices and a currency devaluation "were bound to happen", Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said this week, adding, "God willing, a better time will be coming."

For a government that promised an "Islamic welfare state" focused on uplifting the poor, the forecast is uncomfortably vague, observers say.

"They have to undertake a very painful economic adjustment," said Khurram Hussain, business editor of Pakistan's Dawn Newspaper. That means higher taxes and interest rates, lower imports and government spending, and a devalued rupee, he said.

“In that environment it is extremely difficult to deliver on welfare oriented promises," Hussain said.

While economists believe Pakistan has no choice but to cut spending and raise prices, consumers' patience is wearing thin.

" The current financial policies and price-hike shows contempt for the people," said Muhammad Waqas, a Lahore school teacher. "If the PTI government cannot resolve these problems, it should step down."

Hundreds of acres of land will now need to be acquired for distribution to the promoted generals and other lower rank abduls. The Paki army after cornering all the prime land that was available is now eyeing the land pool under the control of Pakistan railways :rotfl:

After looking at all the casualties Pakis are suffering (and being forced to keep quiet) is enough to cause mental torture and loss of morale.

There might have been an imminent flight of doctors & medical personnel from the Army which had to be stopped at all measures, especially now considering the heat on the LoC.

Some people lose their sleep when India hits back at terrorists: PM Modi – PTI

AMROHA: Some people lose their sleep when India hits back at terrorists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Friday while launching a broadside against opposition parties who he claimed were putting the lives and future of the people in danger.

Addressing a rally in this Uttar Pradesh town ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections[/b] beginning April 11, the prime minister said "some people" did not like the fact that terrorists were being given a reply in their own language.

"After the terrorist attack, should I have remained silent or attacked," he asked the gathering, referring to the February 14 terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama.

"Terrorists are being given a reply in their own language... this is not liked by some people who lose their sleep when India hits back," he said.

When Pakistan is exposed in front of the world, "these people" start speaking in its favour, Modi said.

"Be it the Congress, the SP or the BSP, they have put your life and future in danger," the prime minister told the crowd gathered in this Uttar Pradesh town with a sizeable Muslim population.

The governments of 'Bua' (Mayawati) and 'Babua' (Aklesh Yadav) released terror accused and were kind to them, Modi alleged.

The prime minister said he had not let the country hang its head in shame in the five years he had been in power, stressing that the country's reputation and image was higher than it had been ever been.

"I would like to thank the government of UAE and people of UAE for honouring me with the Zayed medal...this is not an award given to Modi but to the Indian people," he said.

He said on Thursday that he accepts the prestigious 'Order of Zayed' conferred on him by the United Arab Emirates with utmost humility

For me the surprising factor is they are still trying to hold on to the earlier higher standards. But for how long?

They will have to start taking lower IQ abduls/ayeashas as their top bureaucrats as a sane paki will soon be an endangered species.

I can say this with authority as i regularly see the top elites(economists, social thinkers, scientists and 'experts' in a litany of fields ) display their IQ/Paksitaniyat on various paki talk shows.

That's tautology. It's just that even by their abysmally low standards, they are unable to find enough candidates.

I think it belongs here:

https://twitter.com/MATRIBHUMISEVAK/sta ... 8331400192

For those who doubted @narendramodi 's Pakistan policy, let me share details of data of Pakistan Senate Committee on "Indian policy impact on Pakistan economy - Paper1". This data was sent to LUMS for regulatory measures to stabilize Pak economy from where it was leaked.

Points to note.
1. Circular debt rose 1.6 times since Modi came to power. Real debacle started from 2017.
2. Pak Rupee fell to 145. Expected to fell another 30% at 180.
3. Tax collection fell by 485 billion Pak rupees due to shut down of businesses as they could not compete.

Gas prices to consumers shot anything between 10% to 143%. The Sui gas project went into red for the first time. It shows a loss of 450 billion Pakistan rupees. 40% lost their jobs within 7 months of Imran Khan coming to power. Imran proposed poultry farming (I am serious).

PSU suffered loses of 1100 billion Pakistani rupees due to non availability of power & raw materials. India denied them iron ore, cotton, engineering goods, processed fibers etc. Major sufferers were Pakistan Steel Mill, Itefaq foundry, Pak Airlines and textile industries.

China is due to receive 9 billion dollars from Pakistan (as part of installment from Loan+interest on CPEC). China gave this loan @5.85% per annum. Pakistan rupee fell by 40% in last 7 months and expected to fall 30% by June end. The interest rate effectively is 33.15 p.a.

The Senate Committee pointed out that the Finance minister Asad Umar is in direct contradiction with the papers submitted by the 'State Bank of Pakistan'. Asad Umar lied to the IMF and World Bank that the fiscal position of Pakistan's economy was stable to get loans from IMF.

Asad Umar conducted a meeting in November 2018, after Pakistan got a Saudi Loan of 1 billion dollars. He said Pakistan has overcome challenges of overseas debts. Similarly, In December 2018 he said that Pakistan internal debt challenges have been met too. He simply lied.

he State Bank of Pakistan, said the Finance Minister lied. It pointed 3 things in its report.
1. Prices are at an all time high and will increase due to Indian policy.
2. Large Scale industrial productions are in spiral decline.
3. Budgetary losses will increase drastically.

The State Bank of Pakistan in the Senate Committe has submitted that due to the policies of India, both the agricultural & Industrial production have gone down by around 32% on average. Earlier India used to send industrial raw materials, urea, compost etc. It's stopped now.

The HR committee in Paper 2, submitted to the Senate Committee of the house, have said that more than 10 lakh Pakistanis have lost their jobs in the automobile sector alone due to Modi's policy. Modi put in stringent measures to all Paki exports. 3000 mediamen lost jobs too.

Pakistan has increased it's domestic interest rates to 10.75%, however IMF is insisting on Pakistan to cap in another 25% for shortfall in rupee. IMF anticipates that Pakistani rupee is going for a free fall can touch 180 rs per dollar by year end, courtesy Modi's Pak policy

Before Imran Khan took over Pakistan, Pakistan was reeling under external debts and borrowing of 1100 billion. But within 7 months, due to Modi's foreign policy, Pakistan was put in the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and external borrowings rose to 1600 bn.

Cost of power generation rose by 40% in the last 3 months. Pakistan has failed to offer any long term plan to the IMF, on how to repay the Circular debt that is hanging over their head. With Modi's initiative, the India chair in the IMF is not letting Pakistan through.

The IMF is asking Pakistan counter valence measures which they wish to adopt to narrow the margin of budget deficit, which rose from 2000 bn to 2700 bn rupees. With Modi's initiative of not giving Pakistan MFN status anymore, this budgetary deficit will rise by 27 to 30%.

The public welfare and health care department reporting on economic index of middle class pakistanis said that due to stoppage of food & supplementary items from India, the Food index increased 80%.Those earning 50000 rs have now come into lower income groups. Modinomics.

Imran Khan had made 3 promises when he came to power.
1. One Crore Jobs
2. 50 Lakh homes.
3. Bringing back black money.
The Senate Committee as of now looks at:
1. 1 Cr 15 lakh job loses.
2. No houses built.
3. Not a paisa of black money.

Arshad H Abbasi had submitted a report to the Senate Committee (HELP- Hydrocarbon Exploration & Licencing Policy). It says 85% energy needs of Pakistan is met by imports. With Pak rupee falling due to Indian trade embargo & Modi's policy, it is not feasible anymore.

With the current reserves that Pakistan has as of now,it's crude imports will fall by 75%,this will directly affect it's exports as industrial production will hit an all time low. Reason Imran khan is doing 2 things:
1. Begging Modi to talk to him
2. Encouraging poultry farm :rotfl:

Imran is facing the biggest energy crisis in Pakistan's history. He needs investments in oil exploration & drilling in Pak (areas marked out) and approached Aramco (Saudi), but the technology lies with US, Britain & India.China refused as it does not want Saudi in picture.

The Senate Committee report suggests that Pakistan wanted to engage services of National Oil & Gas Company, OGDCL & MOL in the KPK region. The expected exploration cost is 30 dollars per barrel. Pakistan approached New Development Bank but Indian Chair refused grants.

Pakistan does not have funds to repair the SNGPL Pipelines which could support Pak Industries by transferring LNG from KPK. Pakistan tried to get LNG from Qatar but they are not willing to provide it on deferred payment. Qatar asked India to get involved but India refused.

The TAPI project failed due to bad judgement of the UPA2 government. Modi abandoned that project and insisted on LNG agreement with Iran (it's a Shia nation). Without Indian participation the entire Gas pipeline of Qatar becomes non feasible. Pakistan suffers. And there were a lot of people who wanted a pipeline through pakistan

A report on internal security to the house Senate states that Modi's government has been funding various regional political parties including Bilawal Bhutto's PPP to resist changes in the 18th Amendment of the Constitution. This blocks exploration & development works.

Imran admitted that Pakistan has become a bankrupt State. Federal revenue collected is 5500 bn rupees. 2000 bn rupees goes to debt servicing, 2500 bn rupees for plan outlay to States, 1700 bn rupees to Pak Army. Fiscal deficit is 700 bn rupees. Revenue expected to fall 60%.

This sums up Modi's long term and short term plan to hit Pakistan at the economic front in Paper-1. There are a few more details which I will share very shortly. I will be taking up Internal Security threats to Pakistan in Paper-2, which Pakistan blames on Modi and Doval

Paper - 2
Internal Security in Pakistan.
---------------------------------------------
House Senate committee in Pakistan had been submitted an IR, which holds India responsible for internal destabilization in Pakistan. Six major incidents have been marker out by them..

Paper - 2 https://twitter.com/MATRIBHUMISEVAK/sta ... 2343500802
Internal Security in Pakistan.
---------------------------------------------
House Senate committee in Pakistan had been submitted an IR, which holds India responsible for internal destabilization in Pakistan. Six major incidents have been marker out by them.

One such incident relates to kidnapping of Haji Abdullah & his brother from Peshawar. An Indian businessman KJ, was abducted from Iran by Pakistani intelligence agencies. Pakistan claimed that KJ was arrested from Mashkel, near Chaman, Balochistan and he was an Indian spy.

The lynchpin of this entire operation was this Haji Abdullah. He resided both in Islamabad and Peshawar. Haji Abdullah was instrumental in framing the Indian businessman KJ. Then someday, some people abducted Haji Abdullah and his brother. The matter was sensitive for Pak.

The matter was raised in the internal briefings of the house Senate. Haji Abdullah's fingers were chopped off. He had to pay a ransom of 30 million rupees. Now there is no trace of the family. Paki agencies think of Uzair Baloch as an Indian agent and the man behind it.

Uzair Baloch and his brother were arrested by ISI. He was charged with multiple cases of abduction, extortion, rackettering, murders. He was charged by the Pakistani intelligence to work for foreign intelligence agencies both for India & Iran. He is still in custody.

Rao Anwar, the SSP of Karachi and CIU (Counter Intelligence Unit) chief, in a written sealed submission to the Supreme Court of Pakistan has admitted that they had to undertake more than 500+ encounters in the Lyari & rest of Karachi region because RAW had set up bases there :D :D

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) submitted a report before the House Senate Committee, which they had sent to the IMF declaring the financial condition of Pakistan in Feb 2019. This was a Central Bank Survey stating that the deficit as on date stood at 313697 ml rs.

This Data was challenged by Dr Ishaq Ahmed Ansari, Deputy Director of the Planning Commission of Pakistan. He contended that these data did not match with the 'ecodata' of State Bank of Pakistan, which is the internal report sharing system where Every Paki Bank is linked.

Dr Ishaq further contended that there is a separate Statistical bulletin system, which classifies data based on sector. These statistics too do not match the data submitted to the IMF, requisitioned se per Monetary & Financial Statistics manual 2000. Pak is duping IMF.

The addl director, claims that the Pakistani establishment fudged with the figures on at least 3 counts.
a) Monetary, Gold Coins & Bullion's - He contends that the 'ecodata' shows 40% of stock what's sent to the IMF.
b) Deposits - It includes remittances from overseas Pakis.

c) Deposits (in liabilities to non-residents) - The figure shared with IMF is much lower. The actual figure is higher.
Dr Ishaq, addl director, opines that the Pakistani government has deliberately kept the rupees overvalued in comparison to the USD and a correction needed.

The finance minister of Pakistan Asad Umer has admitted that Pakistan's Foreign reserves can sustain 1.5 months of import costs. The former finance minister, mifta Ismael differs, he says that Pakistan can default any moment and pak rupee can touch 200 to a dollar.

The FBS Pakistan released data on food price & essential commodities index. Inflation in Pakistan since Pulwama attacks has touched 9.41% from feb'2019 to Mar'2019. Other essential commodities inflated as such:
http://1.Food 9.5%
(Projected to rise 15-16% in April

2. Tomato 315%
3. Local transport Cost 48%
4. Car & Gold 20%-25%
5. Sugar 18%
6. Onion 39%
7. Chillies 20%
8. Chicken & meat products 16-20%
9. Airfare 13.5%
Shortfall in revenue collection was 290 bn rs, if Modi ji does not do trade, shortfall will get to 400 bn rs in April

The Senate Committee was informed by FM Asad Umar, that IMF had laid out 2 prominent pre-conditions (apart from other conditions) before it will bail out Pakistan.
The conditions are:
1. Increase Oil & Gas prices through OGRA (Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority) by at least 44%.

The second pre-condition given to Pakistan is to open up trade with India (this completely depends on Modi), and increase inter-trade by $1.2 billion with India by the end of fiscal year 2019-20. IMF wants a composite guarantee that Pakistan could repay the loans. Modinomics

Now let us discuss Paper 2 submitted to the House Senate Committee, which primarily deals with Internal Security threats to Pakistan. The Pakistan Military wishes to continue with the military Courts, whose term have expired, and is arm twisting Pakistan People's Party.

The Military Intelligence, in it's report submitted, that Indian intelligence Agency & NDS, are recruiting hundreds of people in KPK, FATA, NWFP, North and South Waziristan and they are jointly handled by RAW & NDS from numerous embassies set up at Afghan-Pak border.

The MI submitted that alike PMLN, PPP too is compromised in the hands of Indian Intelligence Agencies. They allege that Modi government, helped Zardari launder money through numerous fake Bank accounts, and that the Bhutto family has become an asset in the hands of India.

The MI also alleged in the deposition to the House Senate Committee, that India is funding a separatist movement in FATA & South Waziristan by the name of an organisation "Pashtun Tahafuz Movement" led by Manzoor Pashteen. The ISI allege that he is Ajit Doval's man.

For the Pak Military to attain more power, it needs to dilute the powers vested in the provinces by the 18th Amendment of the Constitution of Pakistan. This amendment was incorporated in 2002, and this has become a headache for the Military.

The 18th Amendment gives considerable powers to the Provinces vis a vis to the Federal Government. Imran Khan is merely a puppet in the hands of the military. Zardari has absolute power in Sindh, and an Indian Asset, overseeing Karachi which generates 50%+ of tax revenues.

Pakistan is all set to increase it's gas prices in April'2019 to around 15% to 16%. This has been suggested by the CCI in the Senate Committee to cover the transmission and distribution loses as PSO's and PLL's by SNGPL. Request to all doubters, not to ask for my source.

Image

Nadeem Haque, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission & VC at Pakistan institute of Developmental Studies, in an in-house briefing to the house Senate, accused Finance Minister of lying in papers submitted to the IMF, of fudging documents and claims of C/A deficit decline of 72%

Nadeem Haque, claims that foreign remittances from non-resident Pakistanis were taken into consideration while making payments and these entire figures are fudged. He claims that Imran in his tenure borrowed $9.5 billion & repaid $3.8bn as interest on loan to China & Saudis.

When Asad Umar could not handle the situation, he accepted the truth both before the house Senate Committe and in the National Economic Committee, that if IMF does not help them out, Pakistan will become bankrupt. IMF is now insisting on trade ties with India. Modinomics.

In the Paper presented in the House Committee, the Dep. Chairman of the planning commission, presented papers that during the 7 months of Imran Khan's rule, foreign debt rose by $6 bn, from 95.3 bn to 101 bn. 35-40% in debt rise was trade embargo by India in last few months.Image

The Institute of Developmental Studies in its report to the House Committee has charged India of trying to change the economic demography of the region, by initiating projects in Iran & Afghanistan, considered economically unstable earlier. They were major source of...
Capital Influx into Pakistan. With Indian aid & withdrawal of US support to Pakistan, their businesses no longer invest in Pakistan. India is helping them. Afghan inflation has stabilised at 1% while around 41.6 lakh households became poor in last 1 year. 11.4 lakh lost jobs

This data is very important. If one notes, than he/she will realise that around the time when Modi went ahead with demonitization, there was a sudden spurt in circulation of the Pakistani rupees. Pl note that Congress has almost allowed 2 Pak banks to open brc in India 2012

This plan was held up by Modi when he came to power and later when situation escalated between Indo-Pak in 2017 and "The Habib Bank" was penalized $225 mn, this plan was shelved by Modi. Congress had almost opened up terror funding and hawala racket in India. Modi saved us.

Hundreds of data on Paper 1. Will be posting tomorrow. Thank you everyone for bearing with me. Paper 2 on Internal threat to Pakistan will continue after that.

India planning 'military action' against Pakistan this month, discloses foreign minister – Dawn.com

In the run-up to India's elections this week, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi made a startling revelation on Sunday that Delhi was planning more military action against Pakistan in the third week of April and called on the international community to reprimand India for its irresponsible conduct.

The foreign minister, while addressing a press conference in Multan, announced that the government has "reliable intelligence that India is devising a new plan".

"I am speaking responsibly, I hold a position of responsibility, and I know the words I utter will be picked up by the international media," he prefaced.

Take a look : How Pakistan, India pulled back from brink of war

"Preparations are being made, and there are chances of another attack against Pakistan. According to our information, the action could be taken between April 16 and 20.

"A new mishap could be staged in Indian-occupied Kashmir, just like [the] Pulwama [attack]. And its purpose will be to justify their [India's] offensive against Pakistan and to increase diplomatic pressure against Islamabad."

On February 14, at least 40 Indian security personnel were killed in a suicide attack in occupied Kashmir's Pulwama — India had immediately hurled allegations of Pakistan's involvement, whereas Islamabad strongly rejected the claim and asked for "actionable evidence".

Subsequently on Feb 26, Indian warplanes violated Pakistani airspace and allegedly struck what New Delhi claimed was a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) training camp — a claim never proved by India.

The next day, Pakistani jets fired at various targets from across the Line of Control. As the Indian Air Force engaged the Pakistani jets, the PAF shot down two Indian warplanes ─ one of which crashed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir ─ and captured an Indian pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan. The pilot was released on March 1 as a gesture of peace by the Pakistani government.

"If it [action by India] happens, you can imagine the impact of the occurrence on the peace and stability of the region," warned Qureshi on Sunday.

He said that Pakistan has already briefed the United Nations Security Council's P5 [permanent five member countries] over the issue and stated Pakistan's apprehensions.

"We want the international community to take notice of this irresponsible behaviour and reprimand them [India] for taking this route," he said.

Qureshi also criticised the global community for remaining silent over Indian aggression against Pakistan on Feb 26. He said that international powers did not reprimand India despite blatant violation of international laws on the part of India due to geopolitics.

"The international community, given the sensitivity of this flashpoint, should not remain silent," he stated, adding that the global community should and would have to play their role in this regard.

Qureshi's remarks come a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan rebuked Indian leadership over its false claim of shooting down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet in a dogfight amid growing tension between the two countries in February.

Read: ISPR releases 'proof' further contradicting Indian claim of shooting down F-16

“India’s claim that one of its fighter pilots shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet in an aerial battle between the two nuclear powers in February appears to be wrong,” read a report posted on Thursday on the website of US-based Foreign Policy magazine.

“The truth always prevails and is always the best policy,” the prime minister tweeted in response. “BJP’s attempt to win the elections through whipping up war hysteria and false claim of downing a Pak F-16 has backfired with US defence officials also confirming that no F-16 was missing from Pakistan’s fleet.”

The Foreign Policy report serves a blow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government just days before the beginning of India’s general elections, in which the premier is seeking another term in office.

Dear Prime Minister - Dr Farrukh Saleem

From the bottom of my heart, I beg Prime Minister Imran Khan. I beg Mr Nawaz Sharif. And, I beg Mr Asif Ali Zardari. I earnestly and humbly beg them all. Please, please rise above this zero-sum game of politics. Last year, 37 million voted for you and they are all now facing extreme economic hardships. More than 95 percent of Pakistanis are finding it awfully difficult to make ends meet.

Dear prime minister, Pakistan’s private sector is the goose that lays the golden eggs. Those golden eggs then run the business of the state. Sir, the goose is being strangulated; it has already stopped laying the golden eggs.

Last week, a friend and I went to a high-end restaurant. The manager came up to our table and began discussing his predicament. Over the past ten months, he said, his daily sale has come down from Rs700,000 to Rs300,000. A waiter at the same restaurant told us that his tips have fallen from Rs1,100 a day to Rs500.

Sheikh sahib owns a low-end ‘tikka-shop’. Last night, Sheikh sahib told us that he has been in this business since 1998. Over the past six months, he said, his daily sale has come down from Rs75,000 to Rs25,000. He cannot now afford to keep all his employees working. Some of his employees, he said, have been working for him for the past 20 years. How can he fire them?

My producer – an educated, competent professional with a young family – lost his job. He is now driving a taxi. Imagine, an educated, competent young professional driving a taxi. Last month, he shared with me that he could either pay his gas bill or his kids’ school fee. I saw real tears rolling down the cheeks of this young competent professional.

A few days ago, I was with a female anchor who still has her job. Lo and behold, she also shared with me that she’s having difficulty paying both her gas bill and her kid’s school fee.

A year ago a monthly salary of Rs50,000 was considered reasonable. Two days ago, I asked a cameraman about his gas bill. He said Rs15,000. That’s more than 15 percent of his salary. An additional 15 percent will go towards the payment of other utilities and 30 percent towards rent. All that he’ll be left with is Rs20,000 to run his kitchen, pay school fees, buy children’s uniform and a whole host of other incidentals.

Sir, the State Bank of Pakistan recently reported that ‘notes in circulation’ have gone up from Rs1.9 trillion in 2013 to a current figure of Rs4.6 trillion. What that means is that people with capital are running away from the economy – and are hoarding cash. Businessmen are scared and uncertain. No one wants to invest. Our prime minister is setting up ‘shelter homes’ by the hundreds but companies are laying off people by the thousands.

Circular debt, for instance, has gone up to Rs1.6 trillion. This is the bomb waiting to explode. This is the burden that has to be borne by the 23 million electricity bill receivers – each would have to be pay an average of Rs70,000. A slowdown in GDP growth means 1.1 million additional unemployed and 4.1 million additional below the line of poverty. What is really scary is that this may only be the beginning of the vicious cycle. Sir, save the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Govt announces crackdown as dollars vanish in open market

Image

KARACHI: Signs of panic are now appearing in foreign currency markets as the dollar touched Rs148 in open trading on Friday and the information minister announced that “a full-fledged operation against dollar hoarding and speculative currency trade” is going to be launched. Meanwhile, the finance minister issued a renewed assurance that the “rupee is in equilibrium” and “there is no reason for big devaluations”.

Just watching Pakistani body language, they seem to be in shock/submissive mode.

Usually their FM’s are chosen for being chest beaters who can grandstand the SDRE Indians.

I guess being perpetually a month away from default, does take a lot of wind out of their sails.

MEA just called out the lunacy of Qureshi

India rejects the irresponsible and preposterous statement by the FM of with a clear objective of whipping up war hysteria in the region. This public gimmick appears to be a call to Pakistan-based terrorists to undertake a terror attack in India. It has been made clear to Pakistan that it cannot absolve itself of responsibility of a cross border terrorist attack in India. No attempt at creating an alibi for its complicity in such attacks will succeed: MEA

Some observations of the press con squeals of Qureshi
1. Entire conference was in khaalis Urdu, meaning it was for local audience.
2. The words "kaarvai" and"naatak" were from Hindi. Infact kaarvai was used repeatedly. I may be wrong but generally they would use an Urdu alternative.
Only one sentence was in english, saying we have definite proof.
This was mainly for local audience.
