Check the damage done by wannabe Jaichand - Shashank Manohar.
As ICC chairman he advocated steps that would reduce India's share of the yearly ICC payment and distribute it to other counties including Pakistan.
He endorsed a Paki backed Mulsi to be the next ICC chief. Needless to say that guy lost in the elections.

FIFA World Cup 2022: This company bought broadcast rights for 450 crores, a big blow to Star and Sony – report

Viacom surprises Sony and Star

Viacom-18 Network has acquired the broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar. Reports According to reports, Viacom-18, owned by India’s famous industrialist Mukesh Ambani, has acquired the rights for next year’s Men’s Football World Cup for around Rs 450 crore. The special thing is that at present this network does not even have any sports channel. However, it is not clear whether the company will launch a new sports channel just before the World Cup, in which World Cup matches will be broadcast.

Earlier this right was in the hands of Sony Sports Network, which telecast the 2014 and 2018 World Cups. While Star Network was broadcasting till 2010. According to the report, Viacom has won the rights only for the 2022 World Cup and both the leaders of this market have been surprised.

European League rights also with Viacom

Viacom also acquired broadcast rights for Italy’s domestic league Serie A, Spain’s Ligue La Liga and France’s Football League Ligue 1 in the same season. The company is broadcasting them in India on its entertainment channels- MTV and VH-1. Star Network currently holds the rights to broadcast the English Premier League in India, while Sony Network has started broadcasting Germany’s Bundesliga this season.

We beat china for the bronze. I am surprised we lost to USA. USA is male heavy in its team. I thought our women would prevail over theirs even if our men did not do so well.

The China example is a very good one. We need a much more intensive trials system just prior to the big event. The shooter does not own the quota, the country does. Having multiple intense 'fight club' events prior to Olympics helps harden the final choices before the Games. This is somethinh NRAI need to do.

The article is a little harsh. The real fact is that India are now a world shooting power, and also this position is only 3-4 years old. Here's the medal tally in the past five World Cups. Sure it's 'just a world cup', but even 5 years ago we had no shooters even able to consistently dominate at that level. Now we do:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_ISSF ... edal_table
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_ISSF ... edal_Table
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_ISSF ... edal_Tally
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_ISSF ... edal_table
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_ISSF ... edal_Table

One gold in 2016, 3-4 the next 2 years, and top of the table since then.

This means we actually have enough shooters to aim for the China like intensive trial system. There was no point in doing this 5 years ago - what would be achieved when no one was shooting competitive scores ? The hypercompetitive system is what created our large junior shooting pool and that just needs to be scaled up more.

Manchester United owners show 'interest' in IPL franchise.

The Glazer family that owns and runs what is considered the world's most popular football club, Manchester United, has shown interest in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The US-based owners of the English Premier League's marquee club have reportedly picked up the Invitation To Tender (ITT) floated by the BCCI
through a private equity company. It can be confirmed that the owners of Manchester United are tracking the developments in the world's most
valuable T20 league with keen interest.

The ITT floated by the BCCI, one that has called for closed bids to be submitted in the last week of October, has some strict clauses. For instance, potential bidders are expected to submit an average turnover of Rs 3,000 crore or a personal net worth of Rs 2,500 crore to be eligible to bid.

The average turnover clause, nevertheless, was recently reworked by the BCCI after certain potential bidders made a specific request to lower the value in order to meet the eligibility criteria.

The ITT also allows foreign entities to buy the ITT as well as submit the bid on the condition that should they win the bid, they will have to set up a company in India.

"So, technically, overseas investors are eligible to submit a bid if they meet these conditions. We don't really know whether Man U owners will come to the bidding table. What we certainly know is that they've shown interest," say those tracking developments.

Among others who've picked up the ITT are the Adani Group, Torrent Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Hindustan Times Media, Jindal Steel (led by Naveen Jindal), entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and three private equity players.

As per BCCI's last statement, Wednesday, October 20 was the deadline to pick up the tender documents available at a price of Rs 10 lac.

"A lot of people usually pick these tender documents to study and gather information that tends to be otherwise very useful from a larger industry perspective. For instance, buying a bid document will tell me more about what the BCCI is planning next, in terms of the league expansion, etc. For instance, if Disney has bought the tender document to buy the franchise, it doesn't mean Disney is interested in owning a franchise. It will study the document because it has to plan its own media rights landscape," say those tracking developments.

Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, Cuttack, Indore and Dharamsala are among the cities that will remain topmost on the minds of investors as they go about preparing to bid for the two new franchises.

"Obviously, Ahmedabad will be top priority because of the brand new 1.10 lac capacity stadium and the kind of following the state has for the game of cricket. To be honest, Ahmedabad is long due to have an IPL franchise of its own. Since 2010, they have shown interest and had in fact come to the bidding table back then," they add.

The BCCI hasn't said anything yet on whether the final date of submissions will further be delayed from October 25. The formal announcement is expected to be made on the 26th and the bids will be submitted in the UAE.

BCCI could earn up to USD 5 billion from IPL broadcasting rights only.

The BCCI is set for a windfall of gigantic proportions as the IPL broadcast rights (TV and digital) could fetch the Board up to USD 5 billion for the next five-year cycle (2023-2027) while some high-profile interest is being seen in the bidding process for the two new teams.

The current five-year rights (TV and digital) for IPL from 2018 to 2022 are with Star India but, according to people who are in decision-making
capacity, the valuation, which is at Rs 16,347.50 crore (USD 2.55 billion) right now, could more than double and reach USD 5 billion (around Rs
36,000 crore approx at current exchange rate).

"There is a well-known US based company which did send BCCI feelers some time back, expressing their serious interest in bidding for IPL media rights. With 10 teams playing IPL from 2022, the matches will go up to 74 and in any case, the valuation of the property increases," a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

"But with two new teams about to fetch anything between Rs 7000 crore to 10,000 crore, the broadcast rights are certainly going to shoot through the roof. So expect the IPL broadcast rights to go for anything above USD 4 billion and may be up to USD 5 billion," the official in the know of things said.

Any foreign company showing interest in buying IPL properties needs to have an Indian wing.

The last time around, there were only two major players in TV and digital media rights market with Star India handsomely outbidding Sony, who held the rights from 2008-2017. Star had bid nearly Rs 5300 crore more as Sony's final composite bid was Rs 11,050 crore (USD 1.47 billion). Star India is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company India.

The BCCI normally categorises various broadcast deals like TV, digital (streaming), radio, and social media but last time, it allowed separate as well as one composite bid. Any company can also bid separately but if the valuation of the singular composite bid is more than the cumulative amount of singular bids, then that is considered by the Board.

The BCCI is set to release the Tender invitation in Dubai on October 25, the same day when two new IPL teams will also be announced.

The BCCI is expecting robust bidding from both Star India and also Sony, which would like to get the IPL property back in its bouquet.
Manchester United owners Glazer family picks up IPL team bid document.

The senior official also confirmed that the Glazer family, which owns Manchester United, has picked up the bid document as October 20 was the last day. "Yes, the Glazers have picked up the bid document. Obviously, IPL is now a globally acknowledged sports property and international firms will be interested. "Whether they would bid at all or whether they would be later interested in buying stakes in an existing IPL team, we don't know," the senior official said.

The IPL bid document costs Rs 10 lakh and a lot of business houses and big corporate houses buy the bid document just to analyse the business prospects.

There has been a trend of private companies, which are flush with cash, showing interest but it remains to be seen how many put in the bids, which will be opened on October 25, a day after T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

The BCCI is expecting anything between Rs 7000 crore to 10,000 crore from the team bidding of IPL.

The official then gave the example of Red Bird Capitals, a US based investment firm which is one of the investors in English Premier League (EPL) giants Liverpool. They currently have 15 per cent stake in IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.

As PTI had reported some time back, some of the major players who could bid for new IPL teams are the Adani Group, Kotak, pharma majors Aurobindo and Torrent group, and the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group.

The BCCI is allowing consortiums and companies with annual turnover of Rs 3000 crore to bid for teams. The base price for new IPL teams is pegged at INR 2000 crore.

Will a former India cricketer become a first time IPL team co-owner?
A very reputed former Indian cricketer and big star of India's World Cup victories might join one of consortiums as a minority stakeholder with his investment. "Yes, a very well-known cricketer has shown active interest in being a part of the new franchises. Yes, he wants to invest his own money and be a part of the consortium. "He wants to be a minority stake-holder but with his experience, he would want to take the cricketing decisions. Whether any of the new business houses will agree to such a proposal remains to be seen," the source informed.

Pakis looked like a far better team in every department today. With IPL and continuous exposure to quality opposition I thought we would do better but we did not. Kohli said another 20 runs would have helped but when you fail to take a single wicket I don't think even another 40 runs would have helped.

Agree, Pakis looked in fine form today. However disagree that additional runs wouldn't have helped. The pressure of a large chase itself would have helped put some tailwind - although our pace bowling looked pedestrian in comparison (despite dew reason being cited, new ball itself was not used with as much effect). Imagine the plight against New Zealand - our batsmen did not get out due to bad judgment but truly seemed unable to handle the pace which is worrisome.

The "taking the knee" by our team in solidarity with the "Black lives matters" movement a world away left me utterly bemused ! What does India have anything to do with BLM ?!

We play Namibia after Kiwis, so there's still hope that we may win one match atleast.

Well plenty of black and brown players in IPL raking the moolah. Disgusting BCCI. One knee before the match and both knees after. TBH IPL before a WC tournament is a sure way to lose motivation . Hope in the next matches some new players get a chance. Of course BCCI is generous, everyone makes money off the nation and the national team loses grand!

For those feeling bad about knee down etc - BLM is a great way to tell the US that they have zero right to preach to us the usual BS about “Indian intolerance” etc.

Thanks to woke overactiveness, no one can blame India for “showing solidarity with the American athletes who do same” and paint it as some kind of political stunt. This event will reach the right circles in US. But what it actually means is that it opens a window for Indian players to show protest in future ICC events for things that matter to Indians, like sale of advanced weaponry to pakis by US or Kashmir terrorist events.

If the ICC allows protest of BLM issues, then they should theoretically allow protest of other issues like Balochistan freedom struggle, Xinjiang, Hong Kong etc during IPL.

I don’t think taking a knee is a good idea. Firstly there is no relation, and this BLM can bring nothing but trouble and opens up the doors to other leftist agenda. Also far more likely that the Pakis being Pakis will use the platform to demonstrate Kashmir support. And don’t be surprised if the people behind BLM support their Kashmir agenda…

^^ Yep, exactly. What have we got to do with BLM? It's an American problem, and our virtue signalling to the khan types are going to be a waste, as the average six pack does not know what cricket is, let alone reacting to cricketers taking a knee or two. India's actions speak louder here, provided we continue to remember what we did - we were instrumental in getting SA banned from international cricket as long as they practiced apartheid, and reached out and hosted them at Eden Gardens the moment they brought in full democracy. While SA still have internal issues to resolve with adequate representation of their black population, it's no one's case that SA players are not prominent in IPL - black or white. I don't have to elaborate about WI players: even before IPL, and especially so after it started, WI players have had a huge fan following here. For me, the names of Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Viv Richards, Andy Roberts, Clive Lloyd, Joel Garner, etc. are the stuff of legend I heard from my father when growing up. Brian Lara used to have a lot of fans amongst my school mates (remember, it was the Sachin era). WI as a team did have its ups and downs, but today there is no IPL team without a prominent WI presence.

Given the above, where is the need for us to perform some token action when our actions speak for themselves? As you said, this will only embolden the pakis to bring in some trash like they are wont to do. And it's not like the ICC is fully neutral - while allowing this BLM gesture, they frowned on Dhoni's usage of the Balidan insignia on his gloves as token of his support to our troops, who literally play with their lives for safety. Don't their lives matter then? And what about Hindus and Sikhs of Afg, Pak and BD? Do their lives matter?

This is the thin end of the wedge, and now that we have done this gesture, we should push ahead with support for Hindu lives in these countries. Let's see how ICC squirms its way out.

Spot on! A decision like this is not team management decision. The BCCI must have okayed it. With Amit Shah's son as the BCCI secretary clearing something like this could well have been a political signaling act.

The belief was that somehow Dhoni's magic will work.
But as long Kohli's stupidity persist things wont change.
For starters he should have had Ishan in the team for Hardik, if Hardik is playing as a batter then Ishan is better than Hardik.
This would have given a chance for Ishan to go up first with KL/Rohit to counter Afridi.
KL could have moved to middle order or Number if early wicket!
Bhuvi is spent force??
Deepak Chahar should have been picked

Business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka and international equity investment firm Irelia Company Pte Limited CVC Capital shelled out a combined Rs 12,715 crore approx USD 1.7 billion to win the bids for two new IPL teams, a windfall that far exceeded BCCIs expectations, here on Monday.

The BCCI was hoping for a cumulative bid in the range of Rs 10,000 crore but to their surprise, earned Rs 7090 crore from Goenkas RP-SG Group for the Lucknow franchise, while CVC capital forked out Rs 5625 crore for the Ahmedabad team.
