Okuhara seems really excited about playing Sindhu: instagram. Say's she's looking forward to playing 'Shindhu' tomorrow - the third consecutive tournament in a month that the two are facing each other. Last two matches between them were 110 minutes (2nd longest in history) and 90 minutes long, crazy long considering the average badminton match takes about half an hour.

Sindhu, Marin and Okuhara are apparently good friends: Marin tweet . Probably the three strongest players in the world today.

All the singles players are out. Seems like they were just going through the motions to preserve ranking points. It's not all bad though - so far in the 2017 Super Series, India has the largest number of wins in MS/WS of any country:
2017 BWF Super Series
Three MS and two WS titles so far this year for India - two titles each for Srikanth and Sindhu, and one for Sai Praneeth. Next is Taiwan with three, and then Japan with two.

On the other hand, we have a surprise semifinalist in Mixed Doubles - Pranaav Chopra and Sikki Reddy beat the fancied Korean pair in a 3 set battle. The only third time an Indian doubles team has made a Super Series semifinal.

12 years old from Chennai defeats british grandmaster

http://www.news18.com/news/sports/12-ye ... 30747.html

Another Indian has taken the world of chess by storm after he caused one of the biggest upsets in the Isle of Man International Chess tournament. International Master R Praggnanandhaa, who is all of twelve years old beat the twenty-six-year old British Grandmaster David Howell to move to joint third position in the overall standing.

The Indian chess prodigy, who already has an ELO rating of 2500, forced the three time British Champion Howell into abject surrender in 64 moves to take his points tally to 3.5. This was Praggnanandhaa’s third win in five rounds with his only defeat coming against Englishman GM Michael Adams in the second round.

Another Indian GM SP Sethuraman moved into the joint second position after beating GM Boris Gelfand of Israel in 52 moves. Sethuraman will now play former World Champion Viswanathan Anand, who played out a draw against Sweden’s Nils Grandelius.

Overnight joint leader Vidit Gujrathi opted for a quick draw against Aleksandr Lenderman of USA after he failed to break the Grunfeld defence of the American GM. World
Champion Magnus Carlsen and Ukraine’s Pavel Eljanov hold the joint top spot after registering quick wins.

India’s top women’s player GM D Harika, however, suffered yet another setback when she lost her second consecutive match on Wednesday. Harika, a three-time World Cup bronze Medallist, playing with white, lost to Women Grandmaster Anna Rudolf of Hungary after making a couple of errors from a rather comfortable position.

India beat Bangladesh 7-0. The scoreline would have been much higher in India's favour, but for the pathetic penalty corner conversion rate. Just 2 out of 13. PC playing ability remains india's bane. Need a world class drag flicker to become a truly world beating side.

This team at Bangladesh is not really a senior team It is more like a India-A team. It is missing all of its drag flicker specialist as well as goal keeper.
Harmanpreet Singh is really a junior drag flicker who is learning.

The first goal was by Chinglensana (mid fielder)., second goal was excellent dive in by Ramandeep on a very long cross., third goal was by Harmanpreet on a PC (Drag Flick on the corner). India should have easily scored at least 4 more goals had they found their way in. India had almost 60% time of possession and had more shots on the goal.

Terroristan got 4 PC but converted 0. The very first penalty corner went clear of the stopper (could not stop) the second one was excellent save by the Goal keeper Suraj. The only terrorisani goal was due to a mistake committed by Sardar Singh inside the D.

I really enjoyed that PC - they couldn't even stop the ball! LoL. The Baki national team is at the level of a club team.

The forward line except Gurjant looked clueless and unimaginative. The defense made of juniors looked OK except that mistake which cost the goal. They may have to bring in the likes of Talvinder, etc from the junior forward line to the senior team.

Way too defensive! Akashdeep, Lalit and SV Sunil needs to be stopping the balls inside the D. They had a totally off day. While defense was very good (Time of possession).

We crushed Malaysia 6-2 in the second Super 4s match. TSP and SoKo drew 1-1 . With 4 points from 2 matches and a match left against TSP, our mathematical chances are high. Win or draw is a guaranteed passage to final. Even a loss will send us to final unless the goal difference is greater than 5. Current situation is pointwise:
India 4
Malaysia 3
SoKo 2
TSP 1

Top 2 play the final. There's no knockout round until final.

I met Sardar Singh in 2015 and he is a very very humble person (does not drink alcohol at all) and he works out every single day so that he can remain in the Team of India. A very real unsung hero!

thanks! Ashokk!

Harmanpreet is learning very fast!! He is young and will become the de-facto drag specialist soon!! I am very impressed with the juniors!!
They seem to come from a different country., the aggression, the mental strength, the reading of the game, the hockey skills., all of the young players are great!!!! GO INDIA!!!

Astro turf is physically tough to play on. very tiring. Age profiles of team will tend to remain younger as we go on. Sardar Singh is exceptional in his fitness to play at this level for so long.

Axelsen is the reigning world champion and the player on a hot streak . Srikanth didn’t just win, he humiliated Axelsen in front of his home crowd, taking the last game 21-7 .

Very satisfying hockey result . Our last four matches have been 7-1, 6-1, 3-1 and 4-0 now . I would like to see a game where we pump in double digit goals against them .

Srikanth in finals.

This hockey team still needs changes. RP Singh, Manpreet Junior, Afshan Qureshi, Talivinder should play if not all. The goalie is the find of the tournament for India. Will be good second to Sreejesh.
