This from the BBC
Disaster for England's Lynne Hutchison in the rhythmic gymnastics, twice dropping her ribbon during her routine which means England's only hope of gold on the final day rests in the men's doubles badminton final, which Nathan Robertson and Anthony Clark currently trail. But if the duo win gold, it means England, currently level on golds with India on 37 in the medals table, cannot be overhauled because they have won more silver medals than the hosts.

If Saina Nehwal wins Gold in womens singles badminton India will be second in the medals table. A very tall ask, but possible. 8)

In the men's hockey 3rd place match, England lost in penalties AGAIN after finishing 3-3 in regular time, this time to New Zealand.

England lose and get silver in mens double. Its upto Saina to get India into second place on the medals table. This from the BBC
Ooooh the tension - defeat in the men's badminton doubles mean England cannot add any more heavy duty medalry to their collection, which means they finish with 37 golds, 58 silvers and 45 bronzes, a grand total of 140 and currently sit second in the medals table. However, hosts India have the same number of golds and can usurp the red and white if Saina Nehwal can beat Malaysia's Wong Mew Choo in the women's badminton singles final. The odds are stacked in Nehwal's favour - she has yet to drop a game so far in the tournament. It's like the Ryder Cup, only without the rain and Rory McIlroy wigs.

Chaos rules again! Typically OC .

Commonwealth Games 2010: chaos reigns as closing ceremony programme undecided
Preparations for the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony were in chaos on Wednesday night as Indian organisers made a series of last-minute changes and Scottish performers were left without security passes they required to take part.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... cided.html

What got my bile boiling yesterday was Shelia [EDITED] now talking about the Olympics as if it was in the bag and claiming that all the CWG problems where the invention of the media! Look at her absurd statements."If just one room is dirty it does not mean that the others are also..." One room?! Mrs.[EDITED] or [EDITED] ,or whatever you deserve to be renamed, pictures speak a thousand words. We all saw the paw marks of dogs on beds, filthy toilets, paan spittle ,etc.,etc.Why then was it neccesary for an army to take over for the last week the task of completing the balance work and cleaning up the whole place? Why did the Cabinet Sec.,several other sec.s,babus,etc.,have to get into the act, to clean just "one room"? Does she think we are fools? The Athletics track was finbished barely minutes before the events started. Was it neccessary at all to put India through thr international wringer so badly when the work could've all been completed a few months earlier? Delhi has just "one or two " potholes according to her, dspite TV images of even large vehicles trapped in huge sinkholes in the roads.

And what of the collapsed bridge? Since there were to be no VIPs using it it was OK,just a "minor" irritant where only a couple of dozen workers were severely injured-who recd. little or no compensation from the govt. so far, that's par for the Indian course, and didn't the Indian Army do the needful in just 4 days time,so what are we all talking about? Though she claims that there will be no cover-up after the CWG,it is evdient from her jingoism that that is exacty what will happen. In fcat, she must be eagerly awaiting a "Padma" award for her magnificent fire-fighting!

The real heroes are according to many foreign and Indian observers are the heroic unsung workers, working in pathetic conditions, who were provided "Bhanot" class hygiene and toliet facilities, whose blood, sweat and tears saved the show for India.Equally important where the athletes and sportsmen and women who took part despite the adverse punlicity earlier and did their countries proud and competed in the best spirit of any Games. The doping scandals were few and far between.Lastly, the crowds who eventually did turn up despite the farce of ticketing,over-zealous security in the extreme and cheered for India and the other teams. One cannot also overlook the vigilant media who should also get gold medals for their exposes of this grand larceny on a cosmic scale and went after the crooks hammer and tong...or should one say "tongue" instead, nailing their lies and cornering their chicanery. If not for the media, the nation would've been oblivious to the monumental scandal, perhaps the worst ever in Indian history (Spectrum scam included) because of the international disgrace and ramifications, adn the nation and the people taken for a ride of tens of thousands of crores. At least we now know into whose pockets they've gone into!

By the way India has already hit the 100 medal mark. Saina's Gold or Silver will make it 101 medals in total for India.

As of now we already have reached a total tally of 100 as was predicted. We have reached three digit totals for the first time and twice that of 2006.

No, that was in the earlier session.
Today i went for the 8-0 whitewash :((
I cant understand why they build stadia in india without a roof for shade. very hot and intense sunlight.
Again there were more spectators than the seats in the Rs1000 category. while the Rs250 seats were not fully filled. MMS was sitting at the opposite side.
I looked at him, then looked at the hockey and the only thought that came to mind was SeS :((
