Thanks, NKumar I've been to the site once.

One need not delve in census figures to see the real picture. Changes are visible to outsiders.

The culprits in WB are the so called "bhadralok" class in Kolkata. This self serving section consists of two distinct breeds.

First one follows the commies blindly, according to them capitalists were evil some time ago and they now have changed their voices once the commies started the recent industrialization drive. These people are least concerned about demographic changes.

The second group consists of hardcore commies/naxals. You'll see pathetic figures of gents in their 60s and 70s peddling commie literatures in Puja Pandals, without realizing that they look like idiots. These people are active sympathizers of Islamists.

Kangress culture has brought together Muslim fundus+Christian fundus+Communist fundus who are Tolerated and lead by Headmistress+Ahmed Patel+MMS making Chincoms and ISI happy. I am sad to say that but I think I will see Bangladeshi military defacto occupying and breaking of NE from India in my own lifetime.

Add a imp info to this:-RSS+BJP have since many years have changed their opposition to Muslim fundamentalism and encouraging their "intellectuals" to go soft-accpt Muslim (fundamentalism) brotherhood to remain in power in Delhi.

I think most of the major modules of terrorists are in Kangress states read Maharashtra, Assam, Delhi etc-Wonder why?

Took a ghoulish survey of the affected areas this morning and the damage is mind boggling. Cars, auto-scooters and buses were mangled and charred black in the most violent way possible, in some cases being unrecognizable. In Ganeshguri, an Indica was blown up from ground level onto the flyover above it. Eyewitnesses said that some passengers were completely charred while still in their sitting positions inside the bus.

Opinion on the street is that this was the jihadis' way of giving India the middle finger in retaliation for the recent Bodo-bangladeshi riots in Udalguri where an attempt was made to drive out bangladeshis from Bodo lands, the message from the jihadis being chilling and straightforward: "we will take your land, kill your families and set fire to your cities at will and there is nothing you can do about it".

In Udalguri, the trigger was a minor altercation but the beedees came out suddenly in droves armed with weapons and some were from as far away as Nagaon district about 200 kms away! Their Friday sermons must have been very precise in the weeks preceding. Looking at the situation from their eyes, they realize that they will not be able to take over full control of Assam without bloodshed and now that they are in the majority (I fully believe they are), they can bring the end game closer. There is no doubt in my mind that this is what they are planning. The question is what is our response going to be.

Sweet irony! A couple of years ago, few in BRF were rudely disciplined for suggesting a mirror-image response. Dr. Shiv even opened a thread to capture grieviences of posters from NE/East.

Now desperate measures will be suggested when Assam slipping away like J&K is a real possibility.

Oh wait, till WB becomes the next target. Red will turn to saffron overnight.

Checked the news website of indianexpress , its main headlines are related to the Malegaon bombing incident and role of Sadhvi in it ;with Assam Bombing well below other news articles . In today's HT , the main news covering Assam bombing stated RDX was used in the bombing & in India only the Indian Army has access to it in same line ( wtf HT trying to say by this can be anybody's guess ). In next paragraph , the so called govt. sources mentioned suspicion about external hand . Clearly , there are instructions to downplay the Assam bombing in media and to dilute its effect on readers by mentioning other past bombing incidents and not to let create a bad impression about ruling party. With B'deshish already above 30% of local population ( at min.) , it will lead to increased number of ' no entry zones ' for non-B'deshi muslims of Assam , next will be repeat of Kashmir Valley style operations with non-muslims being targetted and driven out of Assam .

Sate of Affairs in Assam

Assam: Demographic Jitters

According to the National Census of 2001, the Muslim population in the Northeast Indian State of Assam is 30.9 per cent out of a total of 26.6 million. Although the last Census was conducted three years ago, it was only on September 6, 2004, that the office of the Registrar General of India, which carries out census operations, released the statistical break-up on religious lines. The latest figures demonstrate that the proportionate growth of the Muslim population in Assam, in comparison with other religious communities, is second only to Jammu and Kashmir (67 per cent Muslims).

The 2001 Census put Assam's population at 26,655,528. Of this, 17,296,455 were recorded as Hindus and 8,240,611 Muslims. Among the critical elements made public by the Census authorities is the fact that six of Assam's 27 districts have a majority Muslim population. The district of Barpeta tops the list with 977,943 Muslims and 662,066 Hindus. The other five districts where Muslims constitute a majority: Dhubri, Goalpara, Nagaon, Karimganj and Hailakandi.

The issue of Muslim population growth in Assam has a disturbing resonance. The State has long been in the grip of a murky politics of citizenship over the issue of unabated illegal migration from adjoining Bangladesh, with which it shares a 262 kilometre long border. The particular significance of the recently released Census data is the fact that the rates of growth of Muslim populations are the highest precisely in the districts that share a border with, or lie close to the border with, Bangladesh - particularly Dhubri, Barpeta, Karimganj and Hailakandi - giving credence to the widely held belief that illegal migration from Bangladesh was the source of these demographic trends. Such migration clearly continues unhindered, despite the barbed-wire fence being erected in stretches and the presence of the Border Security Force (BSF) along the border.

A look at the census figures of 1971 and 1991 (there was no census in Assam in 1981 due to unrest in the State) shows that there has been a steady to rapid rise in the Muslim population in districts proximate to the border, confirming apprehensions of a continuing illegal influx. This, perhaps, goes a long way to explain the rather high Muslim growth rate in Assam, estimated at 77.42 per cent between 1971 and 1991.

In 1971, Muslims, for instance, comprised 64.46 per cent of the population in Dhubri district. This rose to 70.45 per cent in 1991 - a total growth of 77.42 per cent between 1971 and 1991. By 2001 the proportion of Muslims had risen further to 74.29 per cent of the population in Dhubri. By 2001, the Muslim population in Barpeta rose from 56.07 per cent in 1991 to 59.3 per cent; in Goalpara, from 50.18 per cent to 53.71 per cent, and Hailakandi from 54.79 per cent 57.6 per cent. Significantly, two new districts joined the list of Muslim majority districts in Assam by 2001: Karimganj, where the Muslim population rose from 49.17 per cent in 1991 to 52.3 per cent; and Nagaon, where the community's population grew from 47.19 per cent in 1991 to 50.99 per cent.

There is need to make a clear distinction, here, between indigenous Assamese-speaking Muslims and Bangladeshi migrants before analyzing the demographic and security implications of such population growth. Aside from Guwahati, Assam's capital (that is part of the Kamrup Metro district), the heartland of the indigenous Assamese Muslims - whose origins can be traced to the forays of the pre-Mughals in the 13th century - is located around the tea growing eastern districts of Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar and Dibrugarh. In Jorhat district the Muslims comprised just 3.89 per cent of the total population in 1971, rising to 4.32 per cent in 1991. The growth rate was 48.04 per cent between 1971 and 1991. In Sivasagar, Muslims accounted for 6.65 per cent of the population in 1971, climbing to 7.63 per cent in 1991; in Dibrugarh from 3.66 per cent of the total population in 1971 to 4.49 per cent in 1991; and in Golaghat, Muslims comprised 5.17 per cent of the population in 1971, rising to 7.11 per cent in 1991. It is useful to note, in this context, that the growth rate of the Hindu population in Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Golaghat was between 32 and 49 per cent over the 1971-1991 period, closely comparable to the rates of growth for the indigenous Muslim populations.

Evidently, the Muslim growth rate in areas dominated by indigenous Assamese-speaking Muslims, located far from the Bangladesh border, have been registering marginal increases, as compared to areas located close to the border.

With these startling facts being brought to light, influential groups, such as the All Assam Students' Union (AASU ) - which had led the six-year-long anti-foreigner (that is, anti-Bangladeshi) uprising in the State between 1979 and 1985 - have once again upped the ante, reiterating fears that the illegal aliens will eventually overwhelm the indigenous population. They have also stepped up demands for effective action against this unremitting population offensive, including the updating of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), with 1971 as the cut-off year.

The population explosion in Bangladesh, with 2.8 million added every year in one of the poorest and most densely populated countries in the world, creates the push factors for this silent demographic invasion. These are, however, compounded by an expansionist political ideology, implicitly or explicitly supported in the corridors of power in Bangladesh: the idea of Lebensraum ('living space'), which has been variously projected by the country's leadership for a long time, though the use of the expression itself is relatively recent. In the early nineties, Sadeq Khan, a former diplomat, stated:

All projections, however, clearly indicate that by the next decade, that is to say by the
first decade of the 21st century, Bangladesh will face a serious crisis of lebensraum… A natural overflow of population pressure is very much on the cards and will not be restrainable by barbed wire or border patrol measures. The natural trend of population overflow from Bangladesh is towards the sparsely populated lands in the South East, in the Arakan side and of the North East in the Seven Sisters side of the Indian sub- continent…
The idea had found repeated articulation even before the creation of Bangladesh, and enumerated, among its supporters, Shiekh Mujibur Rahman, the country's first Prime Minister.

The AASU and other organizations behind the anti-foreigner movement in the State had, at the height of their agitation in the mid-Nineteen Eighties, estimated the number of illegal migrants in Assam to be as high as 4.5 to 5 million, or 31 to 34 per cent of the total population of the State in 1971. As recently as on July 14, 2004, India's Minister of State for Home, Sriprakash Jaiswal, had told the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament) that there were 5 million illegal Bangladeshis in Assam. Groups such as the AASU reacted, saying that their fears and estimates had been officially confirmed. Later, on July 23 another Minister of State for Home, Manik Rao Gavit clarified in Parliament that his colleague's statement was not based on any comprehensive study, but "on hearsay." But such glaring contradictions simply demonstrated the oft-leveled charge that political parties, in fact, lack the will to tackle the issue for fear of losing a massive 'vote bank'. With the census figures indirectly confirming the alarming picture of mass illegal migrations from Bangladesh, sparks are expected to fly in Assam.

Ironically, however, after the AASU leaders transformed themselves into politicians, forming the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in the winter of 1985 to contest the State Legislative Assembly polls and to capture power in Assam with the key promise of ridding the State of the illegal Bangladeshi migrants, the party, did little to identify and deport the aliens when it was in Government. In a span of nearly ten years, spread over two terms, the AGP Government in Assam deported fewer than 1,500 illegal migrants, blaming the poor progress in the exercise of detection and expulsion on loopholes in the controversial Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) Act, 1983 (IMDT).

The IMDT Act operates only in Assam, while the Foreigners Act, 1946, applies to the rest of the country. Under the IMDT Act, the onus of proving the citizenship of an accused 'illegal alien' lies on the accuser, whereas in the Foreigners Act, the onus lies with the accused. Given the infirmities of the Act and the absence of political will, progress has been extremely slow. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs admits that the functioning of the IMDT Act has been "unsatisfactory", and in a presentation in mid- 1999, in connection with a court case, disclosed that action under the Act had been taken as follows:

* Total enquiries (against suspected illegal migrants) initiated: 3,02,554;

* Enquiries referred to the Screening Committee: 2,96,564;

* Enquiry reports referred to the IMDT Tribunals: 31,264;

* Persons declared as illegal migrants by the IMDT Tribunals: 9,625;

* Number of illegal migrants expelled: 1,461.

In November 1998, the then Governor of Assam, Lt. Gen. (Retd) S.K.Sinha presented a 42-page official report to the President of India on 'Illegal Migration into Assam,' noting:

As a result of population movement from Bangladesh, the spectre looms large of the
indigenous people of Assam being reduced to a minority in their home state… This silent and invidious demographic invasion of Assam may result in the loss of the geo- strategically vital districts of Lower Assam [on the border with Bangladesh]. The influx of these illegal migrants is turning these districts into a Muslim majority region. It will then only be a matter of time when a demand for their merger with Bangladesh may be made…

If current trends of inflow of population continue unchecked, the security implications, not only for Assam, but for the entire Northeast region, could be disastrous.

the IMDT was a joint project of Indira gandhi and hiteswar saikia
to protect their mussalman vote bank forever in assam.

it laid the foundation of assam's destruction because increased
landgrab by the BD musalman led to more fighting for scarce resources between the local groups too.

now the BD musalman is well settled. he will wear a gamcha,
state his mother tongue assamese and whip out a ration card,
land patta or even a PAN card if someone dares to accost him.

MMS was given a sword at the Nanded Sikh celebrations. In the pic,we also see our HM sartorially clad without a sword.Perhaps the organisers felt that it would be of no use to him as he appears not to know the scabbard from the blade,or even if he did how to weild it.One hopes that when our dear PM goes "home" to his Assam constitutency,he will carry this sword to wage war against India's enemies, who seem to be running amok at will all over the country. Our dear National Security Adviser also appears to be speechless and impotent. The least said about "Sphinx Sonia",the better. In true Roman tradition, she fiddles and twiddles while India burnns.

For too long has the Congress played the votebank card, like the Socialist parties of Europe, who encouraged immigration especially from Muslim lands to win elections, who are now the enemy within the gates.Like ancient Troy, the "Trojan Horse" of refugees from across W.Bengal's border and incredible laxity in patrolling and sanitising the same, has led to the current state of the nation increasingly resembling Iraq, where an ordinary citizen who leaves his house each morning to go about his daily business is not sure whether he will return alive.

We are at war.We have been for many years, but the current dispensation has yet to understand, cocooned in their sumptuous lairs, with rings of steel and black cat protection that separates them from the man in the street. They cannot understand or feel the common man's fear ,except perhaps in Colombo when their VVIP transport is a trifle late! These political worthies and babus, born in the era of the British Raj are mired in the conlonial,pre-independence India mindset, where "natives" are turd class and should know their station in life.Equality of class, caste and creed are taboo to their minds.Power and pelf drives them on and the hated imperialistic divide-and-rule votebank politics spurs them on from election to election. In between the nation crumbles and slowly disintegrates, these days at a faster pace.

The time is past for a new freedom movement to rid us from these individuals and parties who have betrayed our freedom struggle.A strong centre with the guts to enforce "martial law" in the border states affected by terrorism and those states where there are pro-terrorist separatist entities as in Tamilnadu.Courts-Martial are also needed to prosecute those guilty of such heinous acts with speedy trials and swift execution of the guilty should be carried out so that justice is done and seen to be done and as a warning to the nation's enemies.Sweeping powers should be given to the police and paramilitary forces to clean up the country. In order that the innocent do not suffer and suspects get a fair trial, special review benches with expert judges be attached to the Courts-Martial.However,this is too much to expect of the curent dispensation which is clueless, impotent and has virtually abdicated its sacred responsibilities.By the grace of God,Sonia/MMS,please go peacefully into the night before you are dumped into history's dustbin. If you do not,we cannot wait for the end of your shameful term to expire. We then need a new "Quit India" movement for the likes of those who have betrayed our forefathers and us.

for outsiders, Nagaon is a cellpool of BDs and some areas are
virtually no-go zones for people of other religions. they have
strong financial, labour and trade linkages to gulf states and some
traders have grown very rich, plus saudi madrassa funding lands
there.

Nellie was also in that distt.

it abuts the karbi anglong & NC hills (forested) and offers a sort
of 'corridor' for people to reach the BD border

Local group owns responsibility for Assam blasts

Fri, Oct 31 06:46 PM

Little-known Islamic Security Force-Indian Mujahideen (ISF-IM) claimed responsibility for the serial blasts that killed 77 people in Assam and warned of more such attacks.

In an SMS message sent to local 'News Live' television channel, the ISF-IM claimed responsibility for Thursday's blasts and threatened to carry out more bomb explosions in several parts of the country.

The message said, "we thank all our holy members and partners" for successfully carrying out the task. The SMS was received on the mobile of the channel's input desk from the number 0-98646-93690.

The mobile phone was subsequently switched off and security forces traced it to Moirabari in Central Assam's Nagaon district registered in the name of one Nazir Ahmed.

Police officials are investigating the matter. The outfit was formed in 2000 in Lower Assam's Bodo-dominated areas "to counter" the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) and NDFB militants, police sources said. The full text of the SMS is:

"We, ISF-IM, take the responsibility of yesterday blast. We warn all of Assam and India for situation like this in future. We thank all our holy members and partners."

Clearly, a message to the nation(by the thriving BDs in BD??) to start the final goodbyes to Assam(and maybe more parts of NE) as it gradually merges with BD..

Because of this
Khasi Students Union closed a mosque in Lumshnong in Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya alleging that the building of the mosque was being used to shelter illegal Bangladeshis.

If Indians tried this in Assam, they would be shot or jailed by the government.

I think the original villan who allowed East Pakistani infiltration for vote banks was Fakhruddin Ahmed who was the CM of Assam. He started the poicly of giving raton cards to infiltrators.

He later became President of India. He was famous for the Abu Abraham catroon of signing the Emergency proclamation right from the bathtub.

Tamang, Bds are a riverine people and most comfortable near
waterbodies. flood are no worries for them - they have boats and
rafts and will just float away for a while, catching all the fish
and crab they can. there are reports of kids being put in aluminium rice cooking handis and using that as boats.

Meghalaya doesnt have much of plains land, mostly its hilly and
some terrace cultivation is done. so the BDs instead settled in
tripura, barak and brahmaputra valley. if land is exhausted there,
will no doubt make a meal of meghalaya too - they are like
termites - very pack oriented, and persistent. swat two and three
more appear.

foreign funding for 'charities' and 'schools' has also made them
very bold and also the strong support of the successive Cong(I)
govts, who also have electoral pacts with more hardline
SP type local islamist outfits.

today they are a strong and well organized 5th column numbering in the millions. there is no way in hell the local
people can just 'throw them out' or even slap them around.
you hit a cricket ball into a BD dominated jhopri cluster
and moment some kid walks in to claim his ball, 5 people
armed with knives appear and demand to know why he is
there? my uncle's plot of land was in litigation and occupied
by such gents. he couldnt get them to leave even after a
clear court order, had to pay them off.

Patilji was looking smart as usual in a black nehru suit.
the pleasures of biz class fight back to dilli awaited him.
no sign of MMS or headmistress today I think.

the cong(I) has turned the electoral system and demoractic
process in assam into a much abused whore who has no
honour left. with assam-specific IMDT and millions of BDs
crawling into the woodwork, they might as well have sold
the state to BD and spared us the this decades long decline
into the darkness.

atleast in other indian states, leaders take money but are
in general patriotic and get things done. NE has leaders who
are actively in cahoots with terrorist orgs and pay protection
money.

even today in Nagaland, all 'indian dogs' posted there are
made to pay a part of monthly salary to NSCN as 'tax'.
only the army doesnt pay tax. ask anyone who does business
or works in nagaland.

Fahkruddin was from barpeta, the blast in barpeta road which
is on NH 20km away killed mostly BD musalman settlers, that
belt is completely greenified.

'lower assam' is lost to the orcs and 'upper assam' is cut
off now from the mainland and surrounded on all sides.
the Bodos, Rajbonshis and Cooch bihar people are the
first civilizations to feel the saif-ul-islam on their necks.
northern WB has been taken over even worse....malda,
farakka, siliguri...100s of madrasas, militias in 3 feet long
beards running around, reports of strange farsis and afghans
seen.....

GOI has to build roads, rails, PSUs on a war footing and shine
the torchlight of mobility and state presence into every dark
territory in India. no roads & poverty suits BDs just fine --
-- very similar to what they ran away from , fresh lands for
islam to plant its flag on and subdue other peoples.

While doing so one needs to ensure that the 4th and 5th columns are sanitized once and for all…

The problem is even when you start fighting these outsiders (BDs), it is made a hindu-muslim issue by these political parties and pseudo-secular media…

The Jammu agitation showed us the solution to this issue… make sure that you carry the tricolor when you start cleaning up the scum…

Anyone not willing to salute the national flag should be called a traitor and treated as such…

CNN IBN reporting arrests..

It is a unique challenge, and one for which a calibrated response which addresses the twin issues of lawlessness, and illegal immigration, is made. I leave it to wiser heads in our establishment to figure out how to do this, but it needs doing. Law and Order is must. The State must use all means to restore order in Assam, up to and including constitutional measures, if deemed necessary.

In the land of Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi and Tagore, we are seeing things like this. What is the world coming to when people kill innocents in such numbers for political causes. Rabid is not a sufficient description. We must all be united and do our utmost to serve the country, and defeat these enemies of our motherland.

I think that India is turning into another front in the War on Terror, and we must win this fight in order to protect our nation and the enshrined values of liberty and tolerance and respect for law and civil order.

If you study the situation in Bangladesh - it appears to me that once again - Islam is running amok and no Muslim can do a thing when islam runs amok if he does not support it.

Violent Islam needs to be identified and squelched out.

The common string that runs through all these attacks is Islam

Thanks Singha, that was pretty informative. How long can our politicos keep ignoring BD problem, sooner or later they 'll have to act. Sooner they do better and relatively easier it would be.

Its a plain law and order problem. By invoking Islam we are ensuring no action takes place. Same tactics were used in the Jamia incident. That does not mean Islam is not at the root of the problem.

today they are a strong and well organized 5th column numbering in the millions. there is no way in hell the local
people can just 'throw them out' or even slap them around.
you hit a cricket ball into a BD dominated jhopri cluster...............
Singhaji, if things are even half as grim as you say, we are in deepload of $hit as far as NE and N.Bengal remaining in India is concerned...

I think that even Nellie style action is ruled out in the Assam of today since bow carrying tribals will be cannon fodder for the teeming BD masses with their sophisticated weaponry...god only knows what new types of weapons will we get to see if any such cleanup was attempted...maybe, even MMGs and 84mm Mortars:eek:

the local police will get a bloody nose if they come across a well trained HuJI unit.
only the army can deal with them and indeed thats the sensor-shooter policy followed.
few weeks back IA intercepted and killed 8 member HuJi squad in dhubri distt
bordering WB. reports say they were enroute to join a cell already onsite for a
durga puja attack. the state police took that input from IA but couldnt locate the
cell in time.

A comment for the IE story about a "local group" claiming responsibility:
Now it is " local groups", not Islamic terrorists. But you are trumpeting the term "Hindu terrorists" a day ago. Shame on you media and Indian Express.Just realize how mean and degraded you have become in last 10 years. Shame.
How true the comment is.....

Huji rebels killed in Goalpara
OUR CORRESPONDENT

Dhubri, Oct. 16: Two suspected Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (Huji) militants were gunned down in an early morning encounter at Krishnai in Lower Assam’s Goalpara district.

An army team launched an operation last night after receiving information that a group of Huji militants were taking shelter in a hut near Barjuli field.

When the troops reached the field around 1.45am, the militants holed up in the hut opened fire, said commanding officer of 4 Kumaon Regiment, Col S.K. Dutta.

The army team immediately condoned off the area and retaliated. After a few rounds of fire, the guns fell silent in the hut.

Two bodies were later found inside the hut with a 7.65mm pistol, 4rounds ammunition, one IED weighing 8kg, detonators and a Chinese grenade.

Though the army clai- med that the duo, Mofidur Rahman, 22, and Salam Ali, 23, were Huji activists, local residents claimed they were innocent and gathered near Barjuli to protest the killing.

Singha,

That was depressing scenario, written very well, if I may add.

What is this NSCN tax? Can you tell more details?

Seems to have become a standard tactic helped to no end by stupid myopic vote bank seeking netas like Paswan, Amar Singh etc...
