20-22 yr olds wearing casual wear (jeans and tees) running around with assault rifles in higher-end hotels in South Bombay seeking out Brit and American passport holders.

some foreign nationals (around 15) seem to be in custody of these filth.

also reported to be carrying grenades and lobbing them at random targets. It seems they also have gotten hold of a police jeep and are opening fire at unwary bystanders.

There are pigs still holed up in the Taj, Oberoi and Cama Hospital - the ******** have infiltrated a hospital!!!!

CNN-IBN showing live pictures of cops armed with .303 rifles swarming around the Taj Mahal hotel. Looks like the terrorists, or atleast one group, is roving around South Mumbai. Other groups are static.

CNN-IBN saying NSG team is being rushed to Mumbai.

Looking for American/ UK citizens gives pretty good idea about the identity of these terrorists. It also provide the clue to deeper conspiracy to hurt the economic interests. Lets hope it end soon with roasting of these pigs.

OMG!

Could it be 'revenge' for the Mariott bombing? Could TSP be attempting an == again? Can already hear the wail going up in izloo
"See phoreners aren't safe in yindia either. Star hotels raided and torched, hostages taken and abused, police vehicles hijacked.... No more business delegations, no more cricket teams to yindia please!"

Definitely economic terrorism. A coordinated, planned assault on commerce, confidence and credibility of the yindia growth story.

Any link between the Mumbai attack and the following arrest? .........

Mumbai train blasts accused nabbed in London

Rahil Ataur-Rehman Sheikh, software engineer and absconding accused in the Mumbai July 11, 2006, serial train blasts, was detained at London airport on Tuesday on the basis of a Red Corner Notice issued by New Delhi.

Rahil is the elder brother of arrested accused and alleged mastermind Faisal Sheikh and is accused by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of having played key role in channeling funds through hawala to his brother for the attack.

Confirming his detention, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deven Bharti said: “We have information he has been detained. It will take some time to complete the extradition process.”

The CBI, however, “did not get a confirmation” on the arrest till Tuesday evening, according to its press information officer R.K. Gaur.

Sheikh, one of the 15 absconding accused in the case according to the ATS chargesheet, was linked to the 37,000 rials (around Rs 3.81 lakh) that police recovered from Faisal’s residences in suburban Bandra and Mira Road.

Sheikh and his friend and absconding co-accused Rizwan Dawre allegedly acted as conduits between the fund-provider — the blast’s co-mastermind and Lashkar-e-Tayyeba training chief Azam Cheema — and Faisal. The money was sent via Riyadh/Dubai before and after the blasts.

“Rahil Sheikh is Faisal’s own brother and played a part in financing the train blasts,” Additional DGP K.P. Raghuvanshi, who led the ATS during its blast probe, told HT on Tuesday.

Sheikh also allegedly made travel arrangements for some youth who Faisal sent to the Lashkar training base in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur.

Attempts by UPAvasis to frame Sadhvi and Purohit were an attempt to appease this group it seems.
It shows the breakdown of the relation of trust between the centrists and the muslim criminal underground.

Yet another failure of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies. I don't understand how the heads of these departments don't resign after a failure of such magnitude; which seems to be rather commonplace. But this time its the rich folks getting pasted. I hope they have the power to force the government to move quickly on this and for once in the history of this country; catch, try and execute the culprits for their crimes.

Cue the "we condemn the attacks in the harshest of words" speeches...

May the victims who paid the final price, R.I.P.

Don't want to inject politics into this serious a topic but its amply clear that the ruling parties can ill afford to lose MH in the next LS polls. Their only hope, from a logical standpoint, is to be quick, clean, non-communal and effective in investigating and solving this case and the others that preceded it.

It is their desperation that made them pursue the duo currently accused in Male-gaon blasts.

Just shows a breakdown in relationsihip .. it could have happened earlier or a recent occurance.

If they were really involved in the attacks, then time to introduce them to the tender mercies of the MH ATS which likely has time on its hands since the courts denied them custory of the sadhvi-purohit duo.

Reports of grenades etc means its Hindu terrorists run by Purohit only. Watch for MNS to be implicated and ban the SS as a bonus to get INC and Pawar re-elected.

Petrol pump blown up, RAF may storm hotels

CNN-IBN
Wed, Nov 26, 2008 at 23:56

Mumbai: At least four people are reported to have been killed and 15 are injured as unidentified groups of gunmen opened fire in at least four places across south Mumbai on Wednesday night.

Mumbai police confirm it is a terrorist attack. The five-star Hotel Oberoi is under siege and gunmen are reported to have held the occupants hostage.

Reports say 10 gunmen are holed up inside Hotel Oberoi.

Firing and gunshots are also reported from CST Railway Terminus, the popular Café Leopold restaurant and Cama Hospital - all in south Mumbai.

Hotels under siege

The first incident took place at between 2215 hrs IST and 2230 hrs IST when bullets, apparently from automatic weapons, were fired at police and paramilitary forces outside the Taj Hotel in south Mumbai.

The next, near simultaneous shooting took place near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus police station in which six people were injured.

Police have cordoned off the CST Railway Terminus, a crowded place at this time of the evening, and have stopped entry.

Press Trust of India reports two persons armed with automatic weapons and hand grenades are holed up inside the CST station.

PTI also reports three people, employees of Taj Hotel in South Mumbai, were killed after being fired upon by terrorists and an equal number of people died in a bomb blast in a taxi at Dockyard Road.

The lobby of Hotel Oberoi is reportedly on fire.

At CST

Unidentified persons opened fire near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, headquarters of the Central Railway, which is a world heritage building and remains crowded almost throughout the day.

Local train services to and from CST have been suspended. A police official said he saw two people, armed with automatic weapons at CST.

"They opened indiscriminate fire and fled inside. They are reported to be holed up between platform seven and eight," he said.

Two more blasts have been reported from Majhgaon and BPT Colony.

Zeenews update
Coordinated terror strike leaves 16 dead in Mumbai

Zeenews Bureau

Mumbai, Nov 26: Indiscriminate firing and coordinated blasts in eight places of South Mumbai left over 25 dead and around 50 injured in the nation’s financial capital on Wednesday night. All the blasts have taken place in the vicinity of posh hotels in the area, including the Taj and the Trident.

The incident of firing has taken place at the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), outside Café Leopold in Colaba, Nariman point and outside the Taj and the Tridient, (formely Oberoi) hotels.

The terror strike which began at 1033 PM at Chhatrapathi Shivaji Terminus(CST),formerly known as the Victoria Terminus(VT), claimed 10 lives in the premises of the station alone, police said. 30 persons have been injured at the CST. Commandoes have been rushed to the CST which wears a deserted look as train services have been suspended. Firing is still on at the station.

Three persons were killed in a bomb explosion in a taxi on Mazegaon dockyard road and an equal number were gunned down at Taj Hotel. Another blast is also reported from the Mazgoan area. The victim in the hotel were its employees. Police and the terrorists are exchanging fire in as many 5 places in Mumbai, including in the Taj hotel.

The lobby of the Oberoi hotel was on fire and the hotel has been evacuated, eyewitnesses said. But two terrorists still remain holed up inside the building and have taken about 40 people hostage. A major operation is being planned for the rescue of those still inside.

An NSG team has been rushed to Mumbai.

Some people were injured in the firing in Oberoi hotel, and taken to a nearby hospital in police vans and ambulance. Firing was also reported in Taj hotel.

Firing was also reported at Colaba, Nariman Point and near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal, formerly Victoria Terminus and it was still continuing.

Firing was also reported at Cama Hospital in south Mumbai, police said, adding that a blast was reported in a taxi under a flyover in suburban Vile Parle.

Director General of Police A N Roy said at least two terrorists were holed up inside the Trident(Oberoi) Hotel where firing was on. The anti terror squad led by its chief Hemant Karkare, has entered Oberoi, while the RAF commandos are in action at the Taj.

25 dead bodies are at the St George’s Hospital alone.

Meanwhile, Railway authorities have stopped trains going to CST in view of the firing incidents. Extra forces have also been rushed to the station.

Blasts have been reported from Majhgoan and Vile Parley, outside the BMC office, Nariman house and outside Centaur hotel and at Colaba. All the five deaths have been reported from Vile Parley.

The blast in Colaba was due to an exploding BP petrol pump.

Maharashtra DGP A N Roy said tonight's attack in "at least seven places" is a "terror strike."

High alert has been sounded in Mumbai, and the police has asked the public to stay indoors.

Meanwhile the PM has been briefed about the terror attack, and has met the leader of opposition LK Advani. The Prime Minister and the Congress president Sonia Gandhi have spoken to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh over the incident.

the Inspector lifted his head to show media but it was soon interrupted on pretext of gruesomeness.

clips can be used for analysis ltr

MMS has talked to LKA.

No peeps from Patil. Might still be deciding which pyjama to appear in.

Why do they keep the NSG in Delhi? Why cant they have detachments in at least the metros?

In my opinion, this is the worst terror attack on Indian soil in last 25 years. This is something completely different operation as compared to anything that happened so far. This is to bring down the Indian economy, investor confidence and everything that India built over the last two decades.

No control so far in Mumbai midnight and people are dying like rats.

80 dead in Mumbai. This is war. War.

The fruits of motivated elements allowing the media to yap on about "Hindu Terror" and "Terror in uniform". We are at war. Who will save us now?

Shame on this country. Shame on her, and shame on us. And particulary shame on the fifth columnists in the media. And shame on this government that wanted to make a poll issue out being soft on terror.

Words cannot express my rage and anger and frustration at the weakness of our national psyche.

For shame. We are a nation of filth, and we get what we deserve.

For Shame. For shame. I am no better than any of us, though I claim to be a patriot. For shame. Who will answer for the dead. Who?

What did the Saikat Dattas and the times of Indias get out of glorying in Hindu terror and Army terror, and downgrading the armed forces?

You. You reporters. You subsersives. You pseudo liberal party circuiters. You haters of the military and the cops and the establishment. You politicos. You opportunists. You are responsible. And so are we. Who after hundreds of years of foreign rule could not learn that in the end.... those who protect us are the good guys after all. That we are not good enough to clean these mens boots.

Just got off the phone with folks and friends in Mumbai. Situation is very tense and the whole city is pretty much in lockdown mode. All vehicles and persons are being searched. All arterial roads have nakabandis with heavy police presence all around. Everybody is being asked to stay indoors.

One thing that strikes me is that all the places are very posh primarily flocked by the well-off and expats. I sense something more sinister than a simple terror attack.

Navy officers are from Abhimanyu - IG Grade.
Hope the NSG gets in on time atleast this time around. No more traffic jams on way to airport.

Check this out for the live streaming from IBN at this site

I can't take this anymore. Enough of this crap in my city and my country. Give peace a chance, DESTROY PAKISTAN

Can we keep all the conspiracy theories in another thread please?

I'm trying to summarise most of the reports here..

1) Nariman House in Colaba/Fort - occupied by the Bene Israeli community even today. Firing took place here. Jewish people onlee here. 3 people shot dead here (new name of this building is Chabad House)

2) 2 terrorists trying to escape in a Skoda car were shot dead on Girgaum Chowpatty, 3 km from the Oberoi, near the Babulnath temple.

3) Bomb blast on the ceiling of the Taj.

4) firing at the Marriott in Juhu (other side of the city).

5) Small boat tied up at the Gateway, police are telling everyone to stay away, as there might be explosives on board.
