BEST picture of the whole damn 3 days. And no miserable Indian TV crews, just humble Indian people who are genuinely and sincerely thankful. And most incredible of all, is how that man is so humble. Thats the Indian way. We dont seek glory, just do our job. Maybe thats our weakness too, huh ? :|

I'm all confused, can someone please confirm who's who?

Blue camo with blue beret and rifle - RAF?
Police/Plain clothes with BPJ and pistol/rifle/AK47 - ATS?
Camo with INSAS rifle - Army jawans?
Camo with blue BPJ and Dragunov SVD - Army commando?
Black with helmets, BPJ, and MP5 / SG 550 - NSG?
Black with masks, BPJ, and MP5 / SG 550 - MARCOS?

Thanks.

Thanks.
OP stated this is NOT a Discussion THREAD. But what you have asked is a very valid question. It has to be documented correctly somewhere. So I am going to post a reply here.

I will try and answer this question with pics from this thread and the marcos + NSG pics and articles thread on the Mil side. This means I will be editing it a few times to post a cogent reply.

First you gotta understand WHY the Marcos seem to have too many clothes. They have camo outfits coz they are fairly active in the valley. They are also seen in black in most of the old "standard" pics. While NSG seem to have a stand Black dress code. This is where it gets very difficult to figure out who is who.

Marcos:
Image

The guy in camo during the Nariman House could be marcos since NSG are all Black on all days. But then the helmet looks like a std issue NSG "scooter helmet" and he does not seem to wearing the standard BPJ that other marcos guys seem to have. So this one is very tricky. It could be the only NSG with a camo or a marcos who borrowed some gear from NSG.
Image

This one is super tricky image. Black dungrees and camo guys in the same frame. You would assume one is NSG and the other is Marcos. But if you note the BPJ on the black dungree guy and the PASGT helmet, I would be inclined to say Marcos. Also CNN-IBN had this citizen journalist take some cell phone video inside the TAJ on the first day which showed the camo guys wearing the PASGT helmets, hence marcos have PASGT. This was way before the NSG arrived.
Image

Marcos on right with AK
Image

another pic (I am assuming the guy in the floppy hat is NSG coz he stood with J.K Dutt during the final press brief)
Image

Marcos (note the beard) and I have it on authority that only Marcos carry folded butt dragonov
Image

Marcos: In camo and PSGT helmet but with a Camo BPJ (if you correct the white balance it will show)
Image

Marcos: In camo and with PASGT helmets and same camo BPJ.
Image
Image

Marcos with a beard all in black
Image

I think this should set you on a course of id'ing a pic as Marcos/NSG.

Mumbai ATS=Plaincloths + BPJ + FN-FAL or AK
Mumbai Police Protection=BPJ + Helmet with red and yellow lines + AK

Excellent effort by SwamyG to collect all the pictures. We should store them for posterity. Any Mumbaikar BRFites might want to contribute pictures & writeups too. In this day and age sometimes jpeg's can have more impact than ascii.

One small request/suggestion: Similar to this effort, can we also collect video clips?

AdityaG, please see the video of the MARCOS press conference I posted in the mil thread.

GeorgeJ, thanks, but what confused me was that media reports that there were just 25 odd MARCOS involved. Also, at the above mentioned press conference they were all dressed in black with masks on. And they mentioned that they withdrew once the NSG arrived. Somehow doesn't tie in with your description.

Ramana, please feel free to delete these posts if you think they compromise the SF forces.

A Salute to ASI Tukaram Omble... RIP Sir. Our nation has lost so many brave officers and we will never forget your sacrifice. Your courage and bravery will be remembered for a long long time...

Source: CNN-IBN

Mumbai attacker held at Girgaum
THE START...
The images tell a story of the Girgaum encounter. The car in the picture is Skoda. The cops are on a police barricade (nakabandi) and rest is this..
Image
TAKING POSITIONS
Assistant sub-inspector Omble was asked by his senior to take up position on Marine Drive on Wednesday night, after the news of firings at Leo-pold Café, Oberoi and Taj Hotels came in.
Image
THE ALERT!
Around 12.45 am, he got an alert on his walkie-talkie that two terrorists had hijacked a Skoda car and were heading for Girgaum Chowpatty.
Image
THE ARRIVAL
Just minutes later, the Skoda whizzed past him.
Image
CHASING THE CULPRIT
Omble jumped on to his two-wheeler and chased the car. A team from DB Marg police station was setting up a police barricade (nakabandi) at the Chowpatty signal.
Image
OPEN FIRE
As the car approached the signal, the terrorists opened fire on the cops, but were forced to reduce speed because of the barricades.
Image
BRAVE ACT
Omble overtook the Skoda and stopped in front of it, forcing the driver of the car to swerve right and hit the divider.
Image
NABBING THE TERRORIST
With the terrorists momentarily distracted, Omble sprang toward one of them, Amir Kasab, and gripped the barrel of the AK47 rifle with both hands
Image
BEARING BULLETS
With the barrel pointing towards Omble, Amir pulled the trigger. A spray of bullets entered his stomach and intestine.
Image
CALL OF THE DUTY
Omble collapsed, but held on to the gun till he breathed his last, stopping Amir from shooting anyone else.
Image
GUNNING DOWN
The other cops, who by that time had killed the other terrorist, Ismail, pounced on Amir and captured him.
Image
SOLE INFORMER
The investigation agencies were reported to have gathered a lot of information from the sole terrorist captured.
Image
SUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT
There was no way assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Tukaram Omble, 48, could have survived the encounter. But before dying, he ensured that at least one of the 26/11 terrorists was caught alive.
Image
MANY DEAD, ONE CAUGHT
Brave hearts like Omble gave India its honour back. It's because of them that the nation stands taller and prouder.
