Buried in above report the details of the bomb.
The explosion had not left any clues about the mode of detonations and hints were being made that either a timer had been used or mobile phones were being used for detonation of the bomb on February 13 which comprised 99 percent of deadly RDX and one percent ammonium nitrate, sources in the investigating agency said.
If it was 99% RDX how could the Maharastra police think it was a gas cylinder explosion? Looks like they need to be trained to recognize types of explosions and after effects of explosives. Also the type of wounds would have raised alarm bells.

Where is that senior offcial of Maharasthra Police who was giving background lies have to say about this?

Headlines Today showed the CCTV footage of the blast, the German Bakery had a single CCTV functioning inside the shop contrary to what the reports had suggested that the CCTV inside the shop was not functioning. They mentioned that the police has zeroed on to three suspects from the footage but they did not show them saying it would affect the investigation.

Pradhan report warned of Pune as a possible target
On page 84 of the report , the two-member committee said that since Pune was a sensitive place and a possible terror target, it had visited the city on January 30, 2009 to assess its preparedness.
The committee was shocked that even though some of the police officers had experience in working in terror-stricken and Naxalite areas, they were not prepared to deal with terror strikes and even though the country was facing such an enormous threat, they had very little idea of it.

Esakal is reporting that the ATS has gone to court to prevent the media from reporting in detail about the blasts. The court has granted the motion and no more footage of blast site from CCTV will be screened.

First time this has happened.

Except to the perpetrators, what earthly use is such CCTV footage to the general public?

Rascals in the media quoting "sources" always obtain and display classified documents or reports.

Is not such a malicious reportage actionable under any law?

These chaps should be jugged immediately and grilled. TV broadcast of government documents or even their possession by non entitled or un authorised parties should carry a stiff penalty.

Kin yet to recover from trauma http://www.deccanherald.com/content/137 ... rauma.html
Prasanta Paul, KOLKATA, Feb 12, DHNS:

An eerie silence prevailed around the Dhars' modest household in downtown Salt Lake and the smell of gloom too refused to vacate their residence as parents of Ankik and his sister Anindyee braced themselves up for observing the first anniversary of their children tragic demise in the blast that rocked German Bakery in Pune on the fateful evening of February 13 last year.

Life would never be the same again for Amalendu Dhar and his wife Kalpana who are still struggling to live with the sweet memories of their son and daughter.

A faded-out banner pasted last year on the approach wall of the Dhars still bears testimony of the neighbour’s love for the duo.The young Kolkata trio of Ankik Dhar, Shilpa Goenka and Ankik’s sister Anindyee, were out at the German Bakery on that day. All three youngsters were killed along with eight others in the blast that ripped through the popular eatery that evening.

“Our lives have been shattered and my wife is yet to recover from the shock,” a sobbing Amalendu said.

Incidentally, all three were students of the same school in Kolkata and both Ankik and Shilpa came to Mumbai in 2009 to pursue their dreams. It was a quirk of fate that the 19-year-old Anindyee had asked for the true interpretation of death during a poetry class and insisted on how life could be beautiful despite the fact that it was going to end in death, her teacher had recalled.

While Kalpana is a home-maker, Amlendu works with the ONGC in Assam. Amalendu’s colleagues and neighbours stood by the family during this period.

“We tried our best to give company to Kalpana so that she does not feel lonely. But despite that, she often cries for her children and occasionally faints,” said a neighbour Shilpa Goenka, who perished in the blast, used to work at a Pune-based IT firm, and was a resident of Jamuna Apartment in Lake Town on the northern fringes of the city.

She was the youngest of three sisters and people in the neighbourhood claimed that the Goenkas had since then “recoiled unto themselves” and did not interact much with the locals.

“Please do not enter the house. We are all still in a state of shock,” said Mahendra Saraog, her uncle.Efforts to talk to Shilpa’s elder sisters did not yield result either.

On bakery bombing anniversary, Pune pays homage to victims http://www.deccanherald.com/content/137 ... -pune.html
Pune, Feb 13, (PTI):

Candle light processions and peace marches were taken out in the city on Sunday to pay homage to the victims of the German Bakery bomb blast that left 17 people, including four foreigners, dead and over 50 injured on this day last year.

Memorial services have been organised for those who were killed on that fateful day when a powerful bomb kept under one of the tables in the eatery exploded, flattening the structure in Koregaon area and leaving a trail of destruction.

The explosion, that occurred at 6.57 PM, also put Pune - the cultural and academic capital of Maharashtra which has now turned into an IT and auto hub - on the terror map along with neighbouring Mumbai.

It took nearly six months for Maharashtra Anti- Terrorist Squad (ATS) to nab Himayat Baig, the alleged mastermind behind the blast, who hails from Latur, in Marathwada region, where he ran a cyber cafe and had links with Indian Mujaheedin and Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba.

Baig, who is on trial after his arrest on September 7, is accused of hatching a conspiracy to blow up the eatery, frequented by foreigners, along with six absconding co- conspirators, during a visit to Sri Lankan capital Colombo.

Snehal Kharose, owner of the eatery who was given a financial assistance of Rs 14 lakh to rebuild the structure, said it would take a few weeks to restart the food joint which would have a memorial in its premises for the victims of the bombing.

Pune Police Commissioner Meeran Borwankar said all police stations had been sensitised after the bombing with formation of special squads for rapid response to a situation and appealed to citizens to remain alert about any possible suspicious activity in their vicinity.

The upscale Koregaon Park area, which along with the German Bakery is home to other perceived terrorist targets such as Chhabad House of Jew community and Osho Ashram with foreign inmates, did not have a police station at the time of the attack.

The Maharashtra Government has recently given a go ahead for a full-fledged police station in the area.

Lakshman pays tribute to Pune blast victims http://www.deccanherald.com/content/137 ... blast.html
Pune, Feb 13, (IANS):

Cricketer V.V.S. Lakshman on Sunday paid tribute to victims of last year's blast at Pune's popular German bakery by offering flowers and lighting a candle at the site ahead of a series of memorial services planned as a mark of homage here.

Lakshman visited German Bakery, which still bears the scars of the blast and is being renovated.

A number of memorial services, candle light processions and other tributes have been planned across the city Sunday evening to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the blast. The terror attack exactly a year back left 17 dead, including four foreigners, and 65 injured.

Besides leaving a permanent scar on Pune residents, the terror blast shattered the image of Pune as a quiet city, the academic and IT capital of the state, enjoying a salubrious climate round the year and making it one of the finest urban hubs in Maharashtra.

The blast also restricted movement of youngsters, especially in their favourite hang-out spots all over the city, for sometime. The German Bakery was one such venue, popular with locals and foreigners alike.

Last year, before the blast took place, Pune's young crowd was warming up to the much-awaited Valentine's Day celebrations the following day. Their celebrations were cut short at 6.55 p.m. when the bomb ripped through the bakery, claiming 17 lives.

Reviving the thread due to new developments

http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Del ... 675232.ece
A pan-India terror module has been busted with the arrest of six suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives including a Pakistani by the Delhi Police which claimed to have got vital leads in terror cases like German Bakery blast and shoot out at Delhi’s Jama Masjid.

A seventh person, 28-year-old Yasin Bhatkal alias Imran has emerged as the kingpin of the module and efforts have been intensified to nab him, police said.

The module was tracked down with the help of Mohammed Qateel Siddqui who was arrested from Anand Vihar bus terminus and led the police to Mohammed Adil, a Pakistani national, who was arrested from Madhubani in Bihar.

The extensive questioning of the two led them to an engineering student Abdur Rehman, a 19-year-old boy from Bihar, and was studying in Chennai.

Along with Rehman, police teams, which had since been fanned out to various parts of the country, also arrested Mohammed Irshad, a 52 year-old man from Chennai and Gayur Ahmed Jamali from Madhubani.

“All the members of the Indian Mujahideen terror modules were subjected to intensive interrogation. Their interrogation revealed that this module is involved in Pune German Bakery blast, the Bangalore Chinnaswami stadium blast and Jama Masjid shoot out and blast,” a police statement said.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters “...six suspected terrorists were apprehended in the last six days. Probe is still underway and we think that these persons are involved in German bakery blast, (2010), Chinnaswamy stadium blast (2010) and the Jama Masjid shoot out on (2010). One of them is a Pakistani.”

Delhi Police said Yasin Bhatkal was in touch with Abdur Rehman only four months back.

The 28-year-old Yasin hails from the coastal Karnataka town of Bhatkal and was out from the country for nearly two years prior to 2007.

On the run since October 2008, the Bhatkal brothers-Yasin and Riaz- are believed to have travelled through different parts of Karnataka and gone to Pune, which was frequently used as a base, and then dispersed, police said.

Two AK-47 rifles along with 50 cartridges, one 9mm pistol along with 14 live cartridges, 1.4 Kgs of black explosive material, 3.2 kgs of white explosive material, 350 gms granular off white explosive material, 5 detonators and fake Indian currency notes of the face value of Rs.2 lakh along with other incriminating material were recovered from the six arrested, the press release said.

“The arrests came following a coordinated action with central agencies and police forces in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Bihar,” it said.

Seventeen people were killed in the German Bakery blast and over 40 people have been arrested in this case.

However, this is the first arrest in the Jama Masjid terror strike case.

15 people were injured in the blast outside Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during an IPL match on April 17, 2010.

Two Taiwanese tourists were injured in the firing at Jama Masjid on September 19, 2010 ahead of Commonwealth Games here while no one was injured in the explosion in a car the same day.
Looks like some progress. Now if Varanasi, Mumbai and Delhi High court blasts cases are taken to completion would be a good thing to restore confidence in the security apparatus. Was this NIA? or still Delhi Police?

The above three seem to be similar. Yes some Kashmiri youths were apprehended in the Delhi High Court blasts but how does one explain Varanasi and Mumbai blasts which have similar PETN type explosives?

PTI reports on same news:
Six suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives, including two Pakistani nationals, were arrested from across the country with Delhi Police today claiming they were involved in terror strikes in Delhi, Bangalore and Pune.

Police sources said the "main man" Imran, who was allegedly providing finance and other logistics besides coordinating various modules, is on the run.

Imran had allegedly planted the bomb in a car outside Delhi's Jama Masjid on September 19, 2010, the sources said.

Sources said they also looking for one Tauqeer, a top IM leader who is wanted in 2008 Delhi serial blasts and is suspected to be involved in the September 7 High Court blast.

Investigators claimed the arrested persons were allegedly involved in the Pune German Bakery blast in February 13, 2010, blast in Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium during an IPL match in April 17, 2010 and firing and a blast in car outside Jama Masjid in September 19, 2010 ahead of Commonwealth Games here.

Two Pakistani nationals -- Mohd Afzal and Mohd Ajmal -- were arrested along with Mohd Siddique, Zafar, Abdul Rehman and Irshad Khan, a senior police official said.

Afzal and Ajmal were arrested from Madhubani in a fake passport case while Rehman and an engineering student Irshad Khan were apprehended from Chennai. Siddique and Zafar were arrested from Delhi, the official said.

"All the arrests were made in the past few days. We have also seized some arms and ammunition from Delhi and nearby areas," the official said, adding all these were two-member modules.

Seventeen people were killed in the German Bakery blast and over 40 people have been arrested in this case.

However, this is the first arrest in the Jama Masjid terror strike case.
Does anyone see saffron terror names among the six?

6 arrested new IM terror module busted say cops

However Shekar Duppatta's outfit never has any such disbelief when it comes to TSP actions.

One can mind map this report as it has lot of details not there in other reports.

such a move would be disaster for India in short term. but it would also prove a disaster for all the WKK's, RNI's, DIE's, INC coterie, and Islamist/Christianist theologies in the long term. the amount of radicalism that will fill the Hindu psyche if INC "bans" Hindutva from the public space will be immense.

Arrested IM operatives to be quizzed about Pune case
A team of Maharashtra ATS, probing the German Bakery blast, has left for Delhi to question the six suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives held recently for alleged involvement in blasts in Pune, Bangalore and Delhi's Jama Masjid.

"An ATS team has already left for Delhi. We would like to question the terror suspects as one of them was allegedly involved in Pune blast," a senior ATS officer said.

Besides questioning the terror suspects about their plans, the ATS contingent will also exchange information about them with their Delhi counterparts, he said.

A pan-India terror module was claimed to have been busted by the Delhi Police with the arrest of six suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives including a Pakistani. The Delhi Police had yesterday said they have got crucial leads in terror cases including blasts at German Bakery in Pune, Delhi's Jama Masjid and Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

Those arrested have been identified as Pakistani national Mohd Adil, Mohd. Qateel Siddique, Mohd. Irshad Khan, Gauhar Aziz Khomani, Gayur Ahmad Jamali and Abdur Rehman.

Qateel Siddique was said to have conducted recce of the German Bakery in Pune along with absconding accused Yasin Bhatkal.

A bomb blast had ripped through Pune's popular German Bakery, close to the Osho Ashram and Jewish Chabad House, on February 13, 2010, killing 17 people and injuring 65.

ATS sources said Qateel was consistently in touch with Yasin before the German Bakery explosion. Yasin had personally chosen Qateel for conducting recce of the target in Pune's posh Koregaon area.

Yasin, who is a relative of Indian Mujahideen founder Riyaz Bhatkal, is the alleged mastermind of the bakery bombing, they said.

However, the ATS charge sheet in the February 2010 blast case had blamed the attack on a different set of persons --seven in all--including Himayat Beig, who has already been arrested, but Qateel's name was not mentioned.

The names of six other accused, all co-conspirators and absconding, are: Mohsin Choudhary, Yasin Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal, Faiyaz Kagzi and Zabihuddin Ansari.

With further developments in the Pune blast probe, the ATS is likely to file a supplementary charge sheet mentioning the role of Qateel in the Pune blast.
