Terrible news. IAF attrition has increased especially in rotor craft. Targeted assassination cannot be ruled out given the high profile passengers.

It is around 50 km from Sulur AFS to DSSC Wellington. The area is known for its misty conditions. There is a glimmer of hope - Republic TV reports CDS is one of the survivors.

This is the level to which some of our highest officers have sunk to. How did he even become Lt Gen?

The destination to which they were traveling is not a place which heavy helicopters routinely fly to. I understand that for routine flights to routine locations, there will be proper charts, SOPs in place for the flight crew. This may have been an impromptu flight and that too, to a place where weather changes very quickly. I've experienced Ooty weather...really psycho weather.. which changes suddenly in minutes, at the height of noon! Totally unnecessary flight and unnecessary loss of life, I feel. RIP to the deceased.

The fiery nature of the crash, in a remote location with some fog sounds very suspicious. Hope the flight data recorder provides some clues.

Yes its a 2 and half hour drive from Sulur to Wellington with Traffic, I guess this easy in Hindsight but nobody would have seen this coming.

The sole survivor Gp Capt Varun Singh is the Tejas pilot who received a Shaurya Chakra this year for his recovery of the aircraft after FCS failure. Wishes for his recovery.

A very dark day :(

Om Shanti!!! May the almighty grant sadgati to the immortal souls, and give courage to their families to bear the irreplaceable loss of their loved ones.

The nation owes a huge debt of gratitude to the fallen warriors. The motherland is resilient as long as there are families who give birth to such brave children who serve and sacrifice so much for her protection. Vande Mataram
