SF guys with Travors and Oakley shades= awesome. Ranbir kapoor with hoodie on= bad outfit. Guess money can't teach you how to dress.

Thanks a lot for sharing the video. It was an amazing watch. The guy can have all his stardom and women for all I care, but I am really jealous that he got to visit 1 PARA SF at Nahan. I can only hope and dream that such a chance would one day come my way.

Yes, that and M-16A4s too (both using MARS sight). It is interesting that Para SF had early models of M4s & M16s from a long time but had always preferred Viz-58 over them. It seems that Colt has really done some major improvements for PARA SF to aquire and operate so many M4A1s and M-16A4s. You can also see them being used by 9 Para SF in the Times Now program on Col SS Shekhawat. Link was posted by me and various others in Multimedia thread.

Ranbir looks like he just woke up after a heavy night of drinking.

He should have felt honoured to visit the 1st Para. No shame whatsoever.

IMO he handled himself quite all right. Unlike Salman Khan, he did not try to show attitude (I really developed a dislike for Salman Khan after watching him in Jai Jawan). Also, while his initial motive would have obviously been to promote his film, I feel that he got quite immersed in the world. He seems to have grasped the essence of what makes a Paratrooper: Positive Attitude, sense of brotherhood and sacrifice.
BTW, did anyone else notice his hands trembling when he was attempting rope climb? He hardly managed to cover half of the distance. Seemed pretty weird to me as it was not a feat beyond the reach of a man of even reasonable fitness.

I believe that you are making an assumption here, the assumption being that he might possibly look less hung-over at other times minus make-up

BTW, I came across an amusing tidbit in mid-day. Apparently, there was this one jawan who did the towel dance in front of an extremely embarrassed Ranbir and then asked him to sign the towel. While I find mid-day to be mostly dreamed up gossip and almost no reality, just the possibility of this incident happening made me chuckle.

Same feeling here.. :-?

SK was pretty disgusting/disinterested in his visit to a IN station.

While certainly not as bad as Salman khan during his visit to INS Hansa, Ranbir could have certainly done a better job.. What I hated was the way the show was put together I mean the show was filmed in a very shoddy way. And for most part, Ranbir interacted with the anchor only. He could have at least interacted with the officers better.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about Ranbir Kapoor, but I did rue the shoddy camera work. Even a hyperactive ADHD kid high on sugar would have more steady hands. This is the only video footage of 1 PARA SF and we have to be satisfied with this amateurish camerawork. The only camera crew who seemed to know their job were Mission Army team. I fervently hope that they get to shoot for more military programs in the future.

I always wonder about the trove of wonderful footage that would have been edited out of the final episodes of Mission Army. If some member here has contacts there, I really hope that he would convince Natgeo to share it over their website or youtube channel.

PS: Amir Khan on Jai Jawan is also worth a watch. IMO, his was an interesting visit. Earlier on he didn't seem to care much for Army in general, but as time passed and his interaction with jawans increased, he seemed to have genuinely found affection and admiration for the jawans.

Also, MS Dhoni's Jai Jawan episode (AF version) was very surprising. Dhoni seemed to have more interest and knowledge of aircrafts than I expected of him.

And for those who are wondering about Salman Khan's episode:

Ranbir Kapoor seemed to do a pretty good job in Jai Jawan.

Sallu was absolutely disgusting - who knows, he might have been worrying about one of his numerous court cases I guess.

Another excellent program on LOC by NDTV Hindi. Even though there have been many such programs on this topic in recent times, this program still manages to remain highly informative. For eg: It will answer to people's whines about IA twiddling its thumb while Pakis violate ceasefire agreement. It also mentions infiltrating terrorists equipped with NVDs. Also, some very inspiring stories. So, a must watch IMO.

Indeed. A good one. The infiltrators have NVGs, GPS systems and sophisticated radio sets, and the Indian Army in Kashmir operates under the restriction "Do not cause collateral civilian casualties".

Do you disapprove of this restriction? Or are you simply pointing one of the tough challenges faced by IA during CI ops?
