Re: Defence Blogs & Tweets: India and International
Hi Uri,
Thank you for sharing this with us. It seems like there is a lot of valuable history in the blog. I have a suggestion for you, especially if you'd like your blog to be more accessible to people with less capable computers (in any country). Please consider dividing your cover-page post into parts so that all of the content doesn't load at once. I notice my browser using up 500 MB of RAM just to load the first page of the blog. Most people don't have that much RAM spare, so Windows struggles to cope and the browser freezes for minutes while the content is loading.
Best regards,
Pratik

It is amazing ( and cruel risk for the nation, pilot IAF and the HAlLas institutions)that HAL and IAF maitenance crew did what they by flying aircraft beyod the the stipulated Life hours with out complete dismantle of the stress prone parts and surfaces.Hiten wrote:Blog #65

Fatigue is one of the most difficult to detect in materials. I have had experience in maintaining machine tool parts especially machanical rolling key clutch in presses press brakes and Shears. The components experience sudden shock loads, twisting reversing and cyclical loads) These components (fatigue prone) are inspected for visual, surface crack, megnetic flux ( magnetic and para magnetic metalurgical materials), ultra sound, xray. The surface dye usually pink or blue is the most rudimentary way to detect (only surface) cracks as the author cites.
Invisible Hand again protects us looks like.
I wonder how the repaired the spar
must have gouged the spar and replaced with a new one again welded and or rivitedSome of the forces acting on a wing spar are:
Upward bending loads resulting from the wing lift force that supports the fuselage in flight. These forces are often offset by carrying fuel in the wings or employing wing-tip-mounted fuel tanks; the Cessna 310 is an example of this design feature.
Downward bending loads while stationary on the ground due to the weight of the structure, fuel carried in the wings, and wing-mounted engines if used.
Drag loads dependent on airspeed and inertia.
Rolling inertia loads.
Chordwise twisting loads due to aerodynamic effects at high airspeeds often associated with washout, and the use of ailerons resulting in control reversal. Further twisting loads are induced by changes of thrust settings to underwing-mounted engines.[3]
Many of these loads are reversed abruptly in flight with an aircraft such as the Extra 300 when performing extreme aerobatic manoeuvers; the spars of these aircraft are designed to safely withstand great load factors.

EK FAUJI KI DIARY
What is it about the olive green uniform that makes it so special? What is so different about this piece of cloth that we associate strength, honour, faith, courage and integrity with it? Maybe because you cannot just buy and wear it. You have to earn it with blood, sweat and perhaps a few tears of humiliation. And when you are man enough to wear it, they don’t just hand it over to you. It comes with the blessings of a billion Indians. And stories to tell your grandson on cold, winter evenings.
