The War Wounded Foundation
The War Wounded Foundation was incorporated in August 2002, with the intention of creating long- term avenues for the financial independence of all war – wounded personnel of the Army, Navy and the Air Force. There are nearly 30,000 war - wounded personnel in our country, scattered in different parts of India . On account of the heavy involvement of the defence forces, especially the Army, in major counter – insurgent and counter – terrorist operations in many parts of the country, there is a constant addition to the number of such personnel. The war wounded hail from all states and union territories. The work of the War Wounded Foundation is thus on an all – India basis.

The War Wounded Foundation has been set up as an autonomous organization to assist war wounded personnel in leading useful & productive lives and becoming financially independent.

* Not a "new" website but many new features and enhancements that deserve a mention
** As of 30th Jan 2011, free subscription / access to all premium features and sections

== What features in specific would fellow BRfites enjoy? ==

Focus - Focus provides a timeline visualization of all reports pertaining to a focus topic such as "Air Force Medium Multi-role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) Competition". Reports are grouped by year and makes it easy and interesting to witness a topic evolve over the years.

Examples
-- Air Force Medium Multi-role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) Competition
-- Defence Procurement Procedure and Production Policy

Database - Search through 5+ years of India Defence reports.

Network - A complete listing of the India Defence network. Some of the profiles out there might surprise you. Sign up to contact individuals.

and lots more for you to explore. Don't forget, it is ad-free for registered users. ;-)

== Give me the dirt, why is it now being made free? ==

1. Those who know me, know me as a "software guy". More specifically an open source software guy. I'm a huge evangelist of the idea of community driven projects at least when it came to software development. Over the years I have become more confident of India Defence and I want to open it up to the community and leverage the enourmous talent, focus and motivation out there and make India Defence even more special.

2. Capture the space - Do a Google search for "india defence" and on the first page I see at least 2 Pakistani websites. It is not that there aren't any Indian sites, there are some very good Indian sites. But can we enhance visibility? I think there is some scope here to do so.

3. RBI Regulations - In the coming financial year, RBI regulations for online payments will have more red tape. I don't want to spend my energies dealing with red tape and want to get on with the work itself. India Defence hence is completely free.

== So, what's next? ==

It's being made free and at this point I want to reaffirm that the team is completely focussed and motivated to making India Defence even better. Expect iterative feature enhancements and additions, regular updates and some exclusives every now and then. We wish to be more than just a "defence news blog" and thus we offer build business networking features, advanced analytical and research features and so on. And now we're increasingly looking forward to embracing the community in this endeavor.

So you're welcome to explore India Defence. Please give me feedback and if you want to get involved, don't hesitate to contact me.

Guess, once a chor, always a chor....

This is what Mr. Sengupta wrote about "Prahaar" on his blog. From here: http://trishul-trident.blogspot.com/201 ... ahaar.html
Equipped with a fibre-optic gyro-based inertial navigation system combined with a GPS receiver, the Prahaar will use an aft section fitted with stabilising fins and a solid-rocket motor. The warhead section will be built as a modular compartment, designed to carry various types of sub-munitions or a unitary warhead. For example, it will be able to carry up to 400 AT/AP bomblets, scatterable mines, anti-runway munitions and similar loads. The fin-mounted control section will store the guidance and control avionics, driving four flight control surfaces for trajectory shaping. The ‘Prahaar’ has been developed by the DRDO in cooperation with Israel Aircraft Industries’ (IAI) MLM Systems Integration Division and Israel Military Industries’ (IMI) Rocket Systems Division as a modular kit. By adjusting the ballistic trajectory of the missile to compensate for wind drift and other meteorological effects the Prahaar’s flight control system is claimed to have improved the accuracy of the missile by 4 times the average accuracy of existing unguided MBRL-launched rockets
Now, this is about EXTRA from Defence-Update wesbite:http://defense-update.com/products/e/extra.htm
The rocket uses an aft section fitted with stabilizing fins and a large solid rocket motor. The warhead is built as a modular compartment, designed to carry various types of submunitions or a unitary warhead. For example, EXTRA can carry up to 400 AT/AP Bomblets, scatterable mines, anti-runway munitions and similar loads. The fin mounted control section stores the guidance and control avionics, driving four flight control surfaces for trajectory shaping. The system was developed by IAI as a modular Kit. By adjusting the ballistic trajectory of the rocket to compensate for wind drift and other meteorological effects the system improves the accuracy of the rocket by 4 times the average of unguided MLRS rocket.

Too many coincidences, don't you think......   :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This is a nice site. Initially i was like "...nyaah.. what can be new?.. we heard the khetarpal story so many times..." Some of the pictures were neat , particularly sad to see the original 'telegram'. came so many days after the war was over.

The facts page was also poignant http://www.2ltarunkhetarpal.com/facts.html

Some stuff I never knew
The tank of Arun Khetarpal was called Famagusta Jx 202. It was restored after the war and is kept in the Armour school, Ahmedgarh.
(rahulm, any chance of a picture?)
# Famagusta’s crew was Sowar Prayag Singh, the driver. Sowar Nand Singh, the Radio Operator. Sowar Nathu Singh, the Gunner and 2/lt Arun Khetarpal, the commander.
# Nand Singh was first to die. This was just before the fatal encounter with Major Nasser. Then Arun sccumbed to his injuries. Both Prayag Singh and Nathu Singh were badly wounded but survived and retired from the army as Hon. Captains.
# Arun Khetarpal’s mother did not get the news of his death till the 26th of December. She had got his motorcycle serviced and his room decked up after hearing that the war was over on the 17th December. :(
# He was cremated on the 17th of December near Samba dictrict. All his family got was his ashes in small handkerchief.

Damn you, man! You were bang on target.....this chorgupta fellow is more slimy than a slimeball

Now that the turd has been caught with his pants down (again  ) on the Prahaar and EXTRA issue, he has actually edited the page and changed the wording!!! And has the guts to claim that he never said anything about Prahaar being just indianized version of EXTRA...

But, internet is a double-edged sword

Here is what he had originally written (from the page I saved :P  ):
The Prahaar will have a range of 150km and carry a 125kg (275lb) warhead. Launch weight will be about 430kg (990lb), and CEP will be well within 10 metres.

By adjusting the ballistic trajectory of the missile to compensate for wind drift and other meteorological effects the Prahaar’s flight control system is claimed to have improved the accuracy of the missile by 4 times the average accuracy of existing unguided MBRL-launched rockets. The Prahaar’s submunitions are 30cm in diameter and 3.97 metres (13 feet) in length.

And after getting caught, this is what he has edited the page to:
The EXTRA projectile, which has served as inspiration for the Prahaar, has a range of 150km and carries a 125kg (275lb) warhead. Launch weight is about 430kg (990lb), and CEP is well within 10 metres. Equipped with a fibre-optic gyro-based inertial navigation system combined with a GPS receiver, the EXTRA uses an aft section fitted with stabilising fins and a solid-rocket motor. The warhead section is built as a modular compartment, designed to carry various types of sub-munitions or a unitary warhead. For example, it will be able to carry up to 400 AT/AP bomblets, scatterable mines, anti-runway munitions and similar loads.

The fin-mounted control section will store the guidance and control avionics, driving four flight control surfaces for trajectory shaping. The Prahaar's payload compartment is being developed by the DRDO in cooperation with Israel Aircraft Industries’ (IAI) MLM Systems Integration Division and Israel Military Industries’ (IMI) Rocket Systems Division as a modular kit. By adjusting the ballistic trajectory of the missile to compensate for wind drift and other meteorological effects the EXTRA’s flight control system is claimed to have improved the accuracy of the missile by 4 times the average accuracy of existing unguided MBRL-launched rockets. The EXTRA’s sub-munitions are 30cm in diameter and 3.97 metres (13 feet) in length
It is a different matter alltogether that, even in the first instance, he had copied the write-up om EXTRA and replaced EXTRA with Prahaar (as shown by yours truly in my previous post).

OK. This keeps on getting better and better.

Couple of posts ago, I had shown that a section of Mr. Chorgupta's article on Prahaar was a straight lift from an article on EXTRA on the defence-uppdate website.

Courtsey a fellow netizen (who mailed me the link), we realize that, our man, true to his colors, had copied the first section of the same article as well - and this time, the stuff was taken from an article on LORA, again from defence-update website.

This is excerpt from the article on LORA from defense-update website:http://defense-update.com/products/l/lora.htm
LORA follows a relatively simple three elements design, comprising a warhead in the fore section, propulsion unit, including the solid fuel rocket motor with a nozzle. The nozzle is encircled by the navigation, flight control and guidance unit, which includes the integrated avionic guidance and flight control section, cruciform tail control surfaces, actuators, related antennas and connectors.
The section of the article lifted by Mr. Chorgupta and which still appears as such on his website in this article:http://trishul-trident.blogspot.com/201 ... ahaar.html

Allah(PBUH) sends entertainment to his faithfulls in many a ways!!!

I'm loving it

OK. Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have finally made it to high table......the 'hate' list of mr. chorgupta

I mean, being mentioned by name in one his replies to another 'anonymous' posters, is a real great honor.... :P . Now, eat your hearts out...you wannabe jingoes and bow to the mahdi

Jokes apart, this fellow follows BRF.....I mean, what a coincidence - someone to asks a question to him on a topic (which was answered by me on BRF some time back) and for chorgupta to remember my name and what all I wrote!!! He must really loooove me a lot or may be, just may be, he has been reading the expose' of his deed about Prahaar on BRF  :rotfl:

Check this:

Question from a poster:
Hi Prasun!
I remember reading a month ago a comment by someone at BRF about a senior ex-Indian Army officer writing an article in FORCE magazine about the M-46S upgrade being completed. Your comments?
Answer from Chorgupta:
To Anon@4.24AM: Yeah, I remember that ill-conceived and ignorant comment by some guy called rohitvats. Nerds like him ignorantly presume that since some thoughts are penned by retired military officials these thoughts will be the gospel truth. The facts speak otherwise, and here's why: In the February 2010 issue of FORCE magazine there was an interview published of the then Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor in which he repeated pretty much what he had said on the eve of Army Day a month earlier. In the interview, the Army Chief had very clearly spelt out the field artillery modernisation targets yet to be achieved, which included the M-46 ungunning project. He also said that the project would take off before the end of the current 5-year defence plan (which ends in 2012). Therefore, these BR wannabes, who don't have access to publications like FORCE, and who in any case are never even invited to such press conferences/interviews, often end up getting kicked big time in their 6 'o clocks due to their devious naivety. Therefore, such mischievous elements cannot be regarded as friends of India <SNIP>

He he he.....So much looooove.....I could cry!!!

Rohit, welcome to the club... he conveniently misses some points; let us educate him..
1) the senior ex-Indian Army officer is not some retd office in Army Medical Corps. he was Gen J J Singh.
2) It was not some anonymous article penned over a Chota Peg, it was an interview given to a national Rag while serving.
3) AFAIK, the Deepak Kapoor comment was about the second larger tranche of upgrade. Which might has been completed satisfactorily as CAG has not hauled IA's ball over coal for this!!!
You know I like frame warriors on BRF who have the balls to fight knuckle over fist on inane matters over people who do these slanders and smears.

funny that he touts Farce Mag as the cornucopia of mil knowledge. Aviation week, IDRW, India Defence online, India strategic etc have better content. In this modern age of Google Chacha, one can get info from anywhere. I have access to Boeing's internal knowledge base where I CAN GET ARTICLES from any magazine / publication.. Our own BRF has high quality stuff in abundance... probably he is trying to Hawk Farce... BTB, if he is getting invite to ALL Press conferences, why does he stumble in EVERY Blog Post. Did he fall asleep when they were talking?
