Vivekji by any chance you are in B'lore? I see the ERJ-145 AEW and Rudra quite frequently while commuting on old airport road...Its always a beautiful sight to watch these birds fly.

Cheers!

In the 2nd image, is that somewhere in the North East? What unit is that? Rare to see Indian units other than NSG with balaclavas...

The PAF got one of these and put it on their C-130s in a jury rigged mount for surveillance.

Nishant, Dave & most of the spotters left after the first day because of the crappy treatment from the show organizers, their complete lack of understanding about Aviation Photography (JUST LIKE IN INDIA), being perennially on the wrong side of the sun due to the way they (mis)organised the show etc.....

In contrast, the Dubai Airshow set-up a whole website just for the enthusiasts, created Special Grandstands for them to get the best views & experience ► http://www.skyview.aero/on-the-ground

I know of the 2nd a/c's arrival only through Shiv's post.
Don't know what day the second one arrived.

Vishal, awesome shot of the Bear. Well done! Do you spotter fellows get special permits or something to get so close to the aircraft at BOM?

One question, why is there a Cathay Pacific cargo 747 parked at the new T2? And with an aero-bridge attached no less..

Hi Nachiket,

Thank You. To answer your last Q first, the aerobridge is NOT attached to the a/c & it is at a slight distance from T2,

Image

The CX 748F is parked where it is due to a shortage of bays near the cargo terminal due to all the rejig as the old 'Cargo bay' (the white square on the left ^) is now more of an open taxiway.

To answer your first question (which like a blade cuts open a lot of unhealed wounds),

NO we don't!

Except for BLR, this is the state of affairs for planespotters throughout India > http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home ... 040032.cms

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armoured_E ... ce_Vehicle
The Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV) is an Indian military engineering vehicle developed by Vehicle Research and Development Establishment, Ahmednagar jointly with Research and Development Establishment, Pune, in coordination with C-TEC, as per the QRs of the Indian Army for enabling the combat engineers to conduct recce operations. It is manufactured by Ordnance Factory Medak. The AERV is based on Sarath's hull (License produced variant of Russian BMP-2) and is designed to carry out terrestrial and riverbed survey to facilitate construction of assault bridges across water obstacles in both offensive and defensive operations in plains, desert and reverine terrain. It has no gun and is fitted with specialised equipment, including an echo-sounder, a water current meter, a laser range finder and GPS. On the left rear of the hull, a marking system with 40 rods is fitted. The AERVs have achieved limited series production and have entered service with the Corps of Engineers.

Take a bow. That is one of the best silhouettes I have ever seen. The curves of Rambha are just so pleasing to the eyes.

The lead guy is looking for crevices.

Also, are the dark unis normal issues? I would expect white outfits.

Damn, that Chakra pic is scary. Too bad they didn't have a clean hi-res version on their site. Found a bunch of other high res pics though: http://nausena-bharti.nic.in/photogallery.php

Added later: a newbie pooch: one of the pics on the link above has INS Aditya next to a frigate (I think) with a pennant number F253. I can't find any references to this pennant anywhere on Wiki's active ships list (current frigates are number between 20-51), nor on the BR Navy page. Is it a decommissioned ship?
