There is no cause and effect relationship between chipped paint and maintenance being an issue. Painting is part of maintenance that occurs after X flying hours.

For example I could echo the exact same statement about the photograph linked below
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ccfXzoHNhow/T ... pectre.jpg

maintenance is a big issue in the USA and its reflected by the above pic of a C-130 spectre that needs a paint job !!

Thanks K

@ Prasad: we don't have any access - airplane lovers, planespotters = terrorists in India, didn't you know? Planespotting somehow compromises the security of the nation

But now since we've engaged ourselves in this holy war, here's another attempt at overthrowing the state:

PS: The Rajali pictures are by Angad, he works for Vayu Magazine.
He is too is an AeroNut like me & loves to show the very best of our country so, his passion & journalistic persistence is rewarded at times.

That looks like a Mi 17 IV which fires 80 mm rockets in Salvo. The Mi 17 and Mi 8 fired 57 mm rockets.

Republic Day rehearsal. CRPF carrying Tavors. Interesting. Any idea about how many guns did we buy ? These seem to be everywhere now.

^^ Not Tavors but Indian Made Zittaras I think. They have been issued to CoBra a year ago or so.

However on IDF i remember reading from a poster who's relative serves with the CoBra that while they have been issued the Zittara's and other expensive Gear but Commanders rarely allow units to use them for active operations incase they get damaged. As if they do the Soldier/unit bares the replacement cost or some other baboodum like that. So Cobra units are now relegated to using the new gear for Facebook Photo ops onlee.

2015 RD rehearsal - this one stands out. Wonder who decided to bring out the goose step with leather knee boots with the US Pres as chief guest? Indian marches are quite impressive and the goose step and hezbollah-like march don't gel with the traditional march.
