Pak troops slit BSF jawan's throat; high alert sounded along border
Jammu/New Delhi: Pakistani troops have slit the throat of a BSF jawan along the international border (IB) near Jammu, an incident that may further escalate the tension between the two countries.

The brutal and "unprecedented" incident that took place in the Ramgarh sector on Tuesday has prompted the security forces to issue a "high alert" across the entire IB and the Line of Control (LoC) even as the Border Security Force has lodged a strong complaint with its counterparts -- the Pakistan Rangers.

Official sources said the body of Head Constable Narender Kumar also bore three bullet wounds and it could only be retrieved from a spot ahead of the Indo-Pak fence after over six hours as the Pakistani side "did not respond" to the calls to maintain the sanctity of the frontier and ensure that the BSF search parties were not fired upon.

The Pakistan Rangers, the sources said, was asked to take part in a joint patrolling to trace the missing jawan, but they only came up to a point and cited waterlogging issues in the area that prevented them from undertaking a coordinated action.

The BSF then waited for the sun to set and launched a "risky operation" to bring the jawan's body back to the post.

Officials in the security establishment said the incident of brutality with the jawan, probably a first at the IB, was taken "very seriously" by the government and the Ministry of External Affairs and the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) were also expected to take up the issue with their Pakistani counterparts.

They said since the BSF patrol party that went ahead of the fence to cut the tall "sarkanda" grass to clear the field was first fired upon at 10.40 am on Tuesday, hectic phone calls and communication exchanges went on throughout the day from the Indian side to across the border in order to locate the body of the jawan, who was first declared missing.

A sniper would have been better, don't think there was one. Too much ammo for one guy. BTW couldn't see the body.

11 Paki Jawans will hardly make them rethink, loss of equipment high casualties and ability to retaliate will only make them rethink, but willt ake time, we need a proper MIC and should be able to completely outgun and have the ability to escalate.

But a good job by our Jawans.

An insightful article on Swarajyaof the difficulties faced in policing Indo-Bangla border.
Despite Best Efforts, It Is Impossible To Guard This Stretch Of India-Bangladesh Border

Nature, and not man, is the master here. And what man proposes, nature frequently disposes, often in a manner as if to prove its superiority. Nowhere, perhaps, is this on such stark display as Dhubri, Assam’s western-most district that has a 90-kilometre long border with Bangladesh.

This border, guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF), is extremely porous because many stretches are riverine. The Brahmaputra flows from Assam into Bangladesh through Dhubriand at this stage of its journey, the mighty river is a medley of channels, some as wide as 4 to 5 km, and rivulets that are just a few metres wide. What is more, the channels and rivulets constantly change their course and, during the monsoons, the river becomes more than 10 km wide and is one humongous and endless mass of fast-flowing water with strong currents and undercurrents.

.................
Having lived and traveled in the border district of Murshidabadin West Bengal, I can attest to the same difficulties. Every year the river would change course, sometimes swallowing up land on Indian side and sometime on the Bangladeshi side. What makes it even more difficult is the high population pressure, which makes people fight for even the temporary sandbanks that come up mid-stream time to time.

This should make all the anti Govt skeptics and disaffected folks who kept claiming the SF raids were a one-off, start thinking.
The re-armament of the forces is going on at a steady clip without scams. And they are being given more leeway to undertake such demonstrations of their capability.

Also,
Translation for lungibros: India once again avenged the barbarity against it's Jawan by carrying out yet another surgical strike. This operation was carried out by Army special forces and BSF commandos. Indian troops infiltrated Pakistani area, destroyed several bunkers and killed 15 pigs. This action against Pakistan happened on Thursday right before the second anniversary of surgical strikes.

Does anyone remember, what info the GOI gave out and how many days after the first strike. The second strike while significant, seems to be a smaller event, though 1:10 + ratio or better. I would have thought there would be more info coming out of GOI.

The Modi govt has just called both TSPs bluff as well as of those baiters etc who were busy claiming the earlier SF raids were an isolated occurrence and wouldn't ever occur again. A lot of these folks and fence sitters have been smelling opportunist political blood assuming they have a chance to again be valuable to the INC-Left camp in 2019 and have been busy playing equal-equal between UPA and NDA. And the reality is that there really is no comparison.

As a tit for tat for tying the feet of Singh and slitting his throat, the BSF also inflicted befitting injuries on at least two personnel of the Pakistan Rangers, top sources said.
Days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s assertion that “something big has happened” in retaliation to BSF jawan Narender Singh’s brutal killing by Pakistani forces, it has now emerged that the BSF killed 14 men of Pakistan Rangers and destroyed six bunkers on the intervening night of September 25 and 26 along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir.

Chinese soldiers crossed LAC 10 days ago: Sources
Chinese soldiers crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh again. The incident occurred in the Arunachal sector 10 days ago according to sources that revealed the Chinese intrusions to a news agency on Monday. However, the soldiers backtracked after the Indian Army informed that they had entered Indian territory.
http://zeenews.india.com/india/chinese- ... 48471.html
According to reports, the Chinese soldiers entered about 1000 metres into Dibang Valley, a district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Seems they had 22 incursions in Ladakh in August 2018 before being asked to go back.

Looks like they are testing our defences?

Government orders transfer of 2,000 SSB personnel to IB to strengthen border snoop apparatus
Over 2,000 non-combatised personnel of border guarding force - SSB - have been finally ordered to be moved to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) as part of an ambitious central government plan to bolster the internal snoop agency's on-ground presence at Indian borders, especially along China and Nepal.

PTI has accessed an October 12 order issued by the Union home ministry directing that a total of 2,104 posts of the civilian component of the force, often dubbed as the 'dying' cadre, will be transferred to the IB "immediately". Few of these posts are not occupied at present.

The unique move was in the making for the last few years after National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval had in June, 2016 written to the then Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi underlining the need to effectively utilise this manpower for "enhancing" border security gathering better intelligence.

The ministry has now ordered that out of the total 24 cadres of these personnel in the SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), 19 will be sent to the IB.

"These cadres will get integrated with relevant and comparable cadres of IB. They will be governed by service conditions of IB after transfer from SSB," the ministry order said. A blueprint prepared in this context said that this cadre, which is trained, experienced and well acquainted with the border areas, could be effectively used to upgrade country's intelligence generation and gathering capability along 15,000-kms of its border.

In addition, the blueprint said, the personnel could undertake tasks aimed at generating nationalist sentiments among the border population, as in the past.

A senior official privy to the development said the future tasking of these personnel would be charted over a period of next few months and both the central agencies will "mutually decide the detailed implementation modalities including those related to transfer of assets of the Sashastra Seema Bal to the IB."

A small component of 94 posts, spread across five cadres, will be retained by the SSB, the order said.

The decision was made after Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba early this month held a meeting on the subject with IB Director Rajiv Jain and newly appointed SSB Director General S S Deswal and after review of the subject, the home ministry flagged it green.

The news agency had first reported in September last year that the proposal is a work in progress and 2,765 posts of the civilian cadre of the SSB will be shifted to the IB in the coming days.

Since then, few people have retired leaving about 2,198 posts, out of which 2,104 are now being transferred.

This manpower of the civil wing of the SSB is termed as "dying" as it does not have any substantial promotional and work avenues after SSB was declared an armed force in 2001. Last year, the SSB was sanctioned a full-fledged intelligence wing which is manned by combat personnel.

Officials had earlier said that the plan of the security establishment is to use the services of these personnel to strengthen the IB's presence, especially on the eastern border front along China, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, where these officials have worked for long.

The men and women of this cadre were seen as fast losing their sheen as they were not getting timely promotions and could not opt for combat posts as their physical fitness did not allow them to perform arduous tasks and their recruitment rules were different from those of the uniformed staffers.

The average age of the personnel in this cadre is about 50 years.

Their task was to help the border population in integrating with the mainstream, and also act as the "eyes and ears" of the SSB, the designated lead intelligence agency along open Indian frontiers with Nepal and Bhutan.

The cadre was first raised in 1963, in the aftermath of the Chinese aggression of the previous year, to work in the border areas and promote a sense of national belonging and pro-India feelings among the local population and till 2001, they were called as the Special Service Bureau.

The name of the force was changed to Sashastra Seema Bal in 2003, following the 1999 Kargil conflict. It was then tasked with guarding the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders on the country's eastern flank.

The SSB, with a strength of about 80,000 personnel, has been guarding the 1,751-km Indo-Nepal border since 2001 and the 699-km Indo-Bhutan border since 2004.

I see the MEA summoned the Pak Amby to protest and get them to take the bodies back.
Reading between the lines it seems we got ambushed by their BAT team but did not get overrun and killed two of their BATs in process which is remarkable achievement.

There is a high stress on training our soldiers to counter an ambush or destroy the ambush advantage of the intiating party.
Despite the sadness in my heart for the loss of our three I am proud of them for killing two BATs. This will force BAT formations to become larger and therefore more susceptible to surveillance.

I also think we should form our counter BAT team or infiltration team.
Call them

Its time to the psyOps inside their heads now.

Shell Drops At Poonch Brigade Headquarters, Shelter Shed Damaged.
A shelter shed was damaged as a shell fell inside the premises of Poonch brigade headquarters Tuesday morning. The shell is believed to have come from across the Line of Control, according to sources.

Significantly, the shell landed within the brigade quarters two days after some Pakistani intruders crossed the LOC in Sunderbani sector and attacked an Indian patrol killing three soldiers and injuring another.
Time to do live testing of the TATA/Bharat Forge ATAGS and Bharat Forge ULH on the Shitistanis.

I find it interesting about the LoC fist fight is that Pak can target civilians areas, posts etc, killed many of them, we will not target their HQs.

Pak fires off couple of rounds on our Brigade HQ, no causalities we suddenly wake up and target their HQ!

Targeting HQ shed is escalation, killing our people & service men is not!

At this rate, Pak can keep the LoC battle going on for decades, if not centuries!

Few things to note
Ours was called a Brigade HQ
theirs was called an administrative HQ.... administrative for what ? Batt level .... company level ?
Judging by the photo ... something less than a Brigade HQ was targeted. Maybe a 2 company HQ or a batt HQ. Maybe an ASC supply depo.

Remember we are defending and quite close to LoC to act as a barrier. Therefore our HQs are (by nature) closer to IB and LoC.
They are surging forward with their Jihadi scum and then their next layer is fauj which does not get harassed by cross border infiltration. So its much much behind.

Either way, a message was sent. Don't finger the Brigade HQ or else.

on a side note :
Bring out the Pinakas boys.

Pak is increasingly using snipers along the border to target our jawans. One more BSF jawan killed today from sniper fire. Perhaps more learned people can suggest what anti-sniper tactics we can use to counter this. Even if we kill 10 of their personnel for each death of ours, it would not shake them up as they see low level operatives as expendable. I don't know if issuing Optical Target Locators (DRDO had developed OTLs which could locate up to 500m & a subsequent one was in development which had a range of 2000m) would be of any help...but almost on weekly basis, we are losing our jawans to Paki sniper fire.
