Hi Admins/Webmasters,
I noticed that embedded youtube links do not seem to load up (or is it just me?) while accessing BRF using HTTPS, looks like the plugin tries to load the content using HTTP (as opposed to HTTPS) and gets blocked by the browser.

Probably due to blocked Javascript loading. Depending upon browser, there may be a list - probably in options menu or such - of website allowed to load Javascript, default action being all websites blocked to load javascript.

Is there a thread on MoD, south block babudom and defence minister news and discussion?

Also I request someone to create (and fill up with news and stories) a thread on INS Viraat: end of an era.

@shiv I had suggested sometime back that it should be islamomisia.

Every night at around UK time 21:00hrs BRF is inaccessible: It says too many connections to the database.

It looks like a spider opening up too many connections and downloading the whole forum!

Happens at 4:00 pm Canada time, around 1:30 am IST. Shows general error, too many connections. I assume it's for maintainance

I request 'seawolf'. If it's ok, and acceptable, would I receive a notification as and when the change is done?

Copy and paste as in from a website? if yes, then follow these steps:

1. First right click on the image on the website and copy image url/address. For example I went to wikipedia's SU-30 MKI page and here's the image address : https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... ped%29.jpg

2. Then come to brf, click on full editor in your comment box.

3. Click the "Img" tab {you'll see this : Image }

4. Put the image address link between the two brackets : Image

5. There's your image displayed in full glory :)

Generally people host the image on an image hosting site because websites die off or the image is updated and can't be accessed anymore. By linking it to a image host, the image is stored there and isn't deleted unless you explicitly do so.

I have Flash 20.0.0.286 which is the latest (Jan 26, 2016)
It does not work in Chrome either.

Example, I cannot see the youtube in Singha's post. The only way to know it is there is by doing a Reply and seeing the code.

The problem with youtube not showing, is not a flash version issue. It's a browser artifact of not showing unsecure content. For example:
Mozilla Firefox: Check the section on unblocking unsecure content.
Internet Explorer
For any other browser of your choice, look up the corresponding information to unblock unsecure content selectively.

This is not advice, of course. Any other security consequences to your system from doing this is your own issue. I take no liability whatsoever.

Another thing that i have noticed. Political dhagaa under GDF showed an ID which had registered in 2009, zero posts but regularly active @ lurking.

Major revelations on Ishrat and we are doing rona-dhona in politics on EPF thread.

I think it is time to lock that thread for 3 days. And any member talking about EPF in politics thread receives a compulsory 3 day ban. And also no name calling in budget thread.

My 2 EPF paise.

First thought that came to mind is yes, the thread must be locked.

But then, it will have a major impact on politics of the country and its important to discuss the actual merits/demerits of the proposal.

Locking the thread wont make the proposal go away. With FUD petitions going up, its important for everyone to know the actual calculations and impact of the proposal by the govt.

factual discussion is what is warranted;without the childish name calling ofc.

Sorry, we're not going to do any such banning thing. The criticism about EPF is within the ambit of political economy . If the posters want to rant and cannot be bothered to do so in the whines thread but prefer to poop in the politics thread, the moderators are not going to keep cleaning up the mess. Rather, the fact that people are more interested in asserting their changed political choices due to a tax, simply reflects how people choose to be.

I think it makes sense for BRF to have it's own Youtube account.
Many video clips are incriminating but can be taken down not by Youtube, but by news agencies. These can be saved and posted.

let me know what you think, in feedback thread.
Yes that sound's ideal. Renaming it 'General Indian Military News & Discussions' or something similar would make it more accessible.

A lot of the stuff that goes into the aviation/army threads is off-topic but still deserving of discussion.

Also, it would be nice if you could transfer the 4-5 posts in the locked thread to that thread. Thanks.

Can the first name or the surname be truncated just to hide my identity. I don't want to get a new Handle.

I propose to start a thread entitled "Fake Defence News" where members are free to fake any news. Seeing that real news portals actually post fake news why not pre empt the buggers and make up stuff ourselves?

Please post if anyone is feeling creative enough to contribute

Can we please not have dedicated threads for each terror attack abroad?

+1000001.
I second the posters on one of the other threads on this same attack - why have multiple threads on BRF for each foreign attack? Just have a single thread for all such issues abroad, or stay with the current country specific threads on the strat forum. (x-posting this on the feedback thread.)
