Yayavar thanks. But is a relative error of 1.0e-4 ok? But of course there is another 40 kg fuel left so should not be a problem.

If a 204b X 2048 pixel image is being transmitted at 999.00 b/ sec can anyone calculate the time required for a picture to be transmitted(assuming that is the only data being transmitted) ? How many bits is required to encode one pixel ?

Is this correct - for RGB - 8bits/pixel so 2048*2048*8 bits per picture so 33588 seconds or 9.33 hours per picture ?
Probably when we start linking up with Byalalu we will get a higher transmission rate.

A better much better article from Yahoo with no Drain inspector crap and mentions Chandrayyan as well giving credit for finding the source of water on there as well. Really so so much more refreshing makes the others look biased and prejudiced which they are of course but still..
Kudos to KATY DAIGLE ..

^^
It will be 24 bits per pixel not 8 bits. And also image will be highly compressed. So total bits will be < 2048 * 2048 * 24.

So are they using RGB 24 or 32 ? Any idea .It is using a Bayer filter arrangement.
The smaller antenna is receiving at 2kb/sec and the larger at 999bits/sec

India's next and most important task at hand is to build a complete and a true Ballistic missile defense shield. :D

And this is Earth Image sent by MOM. Our own Country.

On November 19, 2013, from a 70,000 kilometers above Earth, the Mars Orbiter Mission took this photo of the Indian subcontinent.

Excellent news! :)

Day started with a mad rush to my phone to check the news.. and then some hopping around in joy.. then some scoldings from sleepy SHQ.. These SDRE scientists and engineers have put the spring back in my step for the next weeks.. (till the Nirbhay launch, and then the whole cycle repeats.. and then the canisterized Agony-V launch... )

Now eagerly following MSM outlets world over and our dearly pee loved neighbor to the west.. Im expecting a ding dong with hahal green paint and red topi to be flung into Iran with a claim of restored echandee.

Also URT does it again! http://www.theunrealtimes.com/2014/09/2 ... ian-orbit/

Congratulations to the ISRO team. Good of NaMo to suggest a 5 minute celebration in every school. Winning is first in the mind and this has to be in the DNA of every Indian particularly the children of today. Celebration is helpful in creating this psychology.

The LAM has proven itself in a burn-cold soak-burn cycle. Precision guidance and command mastery has been demonstrated over very large distances as have space craft autonomous operation.

We are now operating at our limits of existing launch vehicle capability. Heavy lift GSLV should increase interplanetary payloads.

Enjoyed the celebration in India. Fortunate.

ISRO has made once again Indians proud, Thanks for imparting winning under impossible circumstances attitude!

A plan for few more sat's to other planets as well (particularly Venus), have a deep space network International standard,
when GSLV MK3 succeeds -- a big dance-- 8) -- send mining drilling machines to moon :rotfl:

Many congratulations ISRO!! :) These guys should be rewarded monetarily for making us stand tall.

On a side note, was reading the comments on BBC and other UK sites. Preposterous and disgusting to say the least - most of these guys just cant take the fact that we made it against all odds and keep raising the bogey of aid and poverty etc. Give the aid back to them in their a**.

Congratulations to every Indian. Thanks to all of the Brfites who kept us well informed technically. It is a great day. I vaguely remember when Rohini, Aryabhatta were launched ......I had the same feeling. Well done. Glory to Indian humility, simplicity, wisdom and Indian culture.
PS: Special salute to those SHQs who woke us up at odd hours, ignoring shouting and chanting and giving extra special ahem ahem session (true for me......sure there are other fhagyshalis here).

Guys included Mangalyaan as an example for a presentation soon to be done to a German client. One slide showing how India has the engineering approach to achieve high performance at low cost. Of-course Nano and General elections 2014 is part of it too...

What is this? And why is it important.. how does this relate to MOM insertion? Some gyan please thanks..
An error of ~ 1.0e-4. Somebody please say that this is good enough. Otherwise the orbit might start spurring inward. May be one more small burn is required later on at an opportune moment.
if so, then the newton walas should nudge it back to the intended orbit. if you ask me, the error is not 0.
