There is no such thing as Gurkahs in the Indian Army. We have Gorkhas. You are on the right track but not 3 GR.

Correct its 9 GR. No idea why - some old regimental episode or some decision by a Col of the Regt in the past.

One for you Akshay Sir - there is supposed to be an inf bn that wears its lanyard totally different from the rest of the regt.

Actually some bns of MLI continued wearing their lanyard in the neck even after Gen JJ Singh came and changed their uniform and gave them fancy 'light infantry' shoulder flashes. But now all battalions have stopped it.

But I think Sachin's question is not that simple. Let me think.

5 MLI - blue lanyard right shoulder. All other bns wear green lanyard on left which itself was changed from lanyard around neck.

Name the state from which originated two inf batallions that were named after specific communities they recruited from. Probably both of these were MMG batallions. After the war both these batallions were assimilated into two inf regiments tbat have their class composition similar to the Cav unit involved in Op Bluestar?

If your question is correctly worded then I am stumped. 16 Cav class composition is South Indian classes but the only infantry regt with that class composition is Madras Regt. I presume you are not referring to Madras Sappers which also has the same class composition.

There are no two infantry regts which have the same class composition except for all India class composition regts - Guards which are now all class and Mahar which is now all class. Most para units (but not 3 Para for sure) and some regts of Mech Inf too. 16 Cav class composition was Rajputs, Jats and Khaimkani Muslims before Independence so you might be refering to Raj Rif but which is the other regt ? Not Rajput Regt because its class composition is very different.

I give up. Whats the answer ?

And don't say Maratha LI and Mahar because their class composition is not same and certainly not same as 16 Cav. Though Mahar strated as a MMG regt.

I stand corrected. I did mean Marathas and you are right they are not all South Indian.
So one went to Madras and one went I believe to Maratha Li.

An eye for an eye....In fact our response to Paki terror attacks across the LOC/ border should be to make them pay several times more in casualties.Targets of opportunity to be taken out by the IA at their pleasure anywhere on The Indo- Pak frontline.Every Paki military facility must be designated as a terrorist base since thd Paki military /ISI control, harbour, train and direct the terrorists against India. The IA must be authorisef as std. orders ,for the full usage of arty, MBRLs , ATGMs,and drone strikes as long as Paki terror exists.

It would be hilarious when Pakis go pale when the intel reports state 'Looks like Indian soldiers getting bored, watch your Mush out there!'

As the news said 5 jokers tried to cross over . Got blown up.

Then it was the turn of theirs godfathers.

This is the way to do it. Any infiltration across LoC or attack in Kashmir, we light up the Paki side of LOC.

Anybody dies, Pak gets the whipping.

when Pakis cause damage in Area A, and our folks retaliate and cause multiple casualties on Paki side, it is usually reported that India retaliated in Area B
Does the IA not hit back in the same Area A itself where the paki offence took place

We must retaliate against unsuccessful attempts like this one just like we would be compelled to do if they had succeeded in wreaking the carnage that they had in mind. Hope for much more of the same.

This escaped my attention:

Soldier killed in Pakistani firing along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri

This Ceasefire violation was probably to helps the 5 pigs infiltrate.. resulted in the death of one of our braves..

7 for 1 is still too low..
