Interesting, on question of surgical strikes carried out in past 15 years, MoS Bhamre says -

"Army carries out operations to pre-empt infiltration by terrorists, as and when required...based on credible inputs about terrorist teams positioned at launch pads along LoC."

http://www.dailyexcelsior.com/govt-to-s ... swift-ops/

Govt to set up special ‘Surgical Strike Force’ for swift ops
excerpts
Government is contemplating to set up 250-member strong special ‘Surgical Strike Force’ to carry out operations deep inside Pakistan’s territory to target launching pads of the militants across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and neutralize infiltration attempts well before the militants cross the LoC and for conducting “certain extraordinary operations” whenever required.
“All members of the `Surgical Strike Force’ will be well trained commandos of three armed forces including Army, Indian Air Force (IAF) and Navy,” official sources told the Excelsior and said the `Special Force’ could come up at the very earliest especially in view of surge in sniper attacks by Pakistan army on the Indian soldiers in which number of soldiers have either attained martyrdom or were injured.
The ‘Surgical Strike Force’, according to sources, will conduct Intelligence based operations to thwart enemy’s plans like BAT (Border Action Team) strikes, sniper attacks, infiltration attempts by the trained militants and other such nefarious activities on the LoC under exceptional circumstances only by the Pakistan army and its supported trained militants.
All day-to-day operations and activities on the LoC will continue to be undertaken by the troops deployed there, sources said.

watched URI film with the kids today. while it deviates a bit from the real events its still amazing piece of work. definitely all brfites should go and watch.

the first scene itself had 2 lights out Mi17 flying fast and low below the ridgelines into myanmar, twisting through the valleys....inside the cabin a dim red light showing two rows of pensive seated sf warriors loaded to the gunwales with tar21, m4, shipons, galil, dragunovs and NVG.....the light turns green for the drop zone and the action begins. brutal room by room and outdoor fighting and pulse pounding CQB with knives, fists, anything....

yami gautam as the mil intel officer and the lady playing the widowed mi17 pilot play restrained and sober roles. zero songs, zero BS. the life of paki elite is again shown in a hilariously true way - planning jihad against the kafir in office, whisky and shabaab at home, and kids studying in birmingham.

great job by all concerned. the actors playing NSA and Defmin look very similar.... soothing imagery we only got to see goras do, like ground control retasking satellites (RiSAT) to closely watch certain areas .... its a psychological change more than material..that of all arms of govt working as one.

deleted scene from the film

Good to see IA forth coming with training and the kit.

Probably more effective recruitment tool with bollywood doing their thing with IA supporting it. Better than youtube video or 10 sec add during sas bahu serials.

Surprised that this movie has not generated enough buzz among BRF/BGR folks...expected a lot more chatter on the same. I couldn't go to a screening this weekend...plan is to try to make it next weekend. Hearing good things about the movie's portrayal. As usual creating a lot of burnol among liberal crowd, especially movie critics who are finding silly reasons to put this movie down.

And there is DRDO as well with correct representation of general PSU boss behaviour.

Sniper @avarakai

Chennai. Tamil Nadu.
#TheAccidentalPrimeMinister & #UriTheSurgicalStrike both movies are running housefull. All shows. No tickets available for the latter until Wednesday.
Wondering how ppl think Tamil Nadu is different from rest of India.
PS: Both are Hindi version.
Josh? ✊

Sniper @avarakai

Don't believe me? Go to @bookmyshow & Check out yourself. It is not about less screens either.
If that's not enough...now, let this sink in. A Rajnikanth movie and an Ajith movie are running these days too. Even after that, it is Housefull. Think.

Boss I am from chennai and I have been waiting for this film. you may say any thing but the no of screens is low. In the multiplex near me with 9 screens there is only one show of Uri and its the same allover chennai, before this Ghazi was released with not such competition and was shown in multiple languages on multiple screens. I am not saying anything against this film, I just want the film to be successful and enter the 100-200 cr club so that it motivates filmmakers into doing more films like this instead of glorifying gangsters and anti nationals.
Tami Nadu is not different from rest of India and hindi films are not hated here

Sorry for the OT discussion and this will be my last on this in this thread

India couldn't even get two quadcopters ( toy) over the LoC and they want the universe to actually believe there was a #SurgicalStrike #URI in the absence of a UN confirmation.

Saw URI in the theatres today. Audiences were jingoistic and full of josh.

Special effects in first half were better than second half. Liked Rakesh Bedi's cameo role as ISI afsar. :D

I watched accidental PM, last weekend. Audience was wondering why it's touted as anti congress, it shows MMS in good light, like a good person in a wrong party. Obviously they've become used to congress' party first nation later. There were laughs. I watched uri on weekday. Mostly indian crowd, highly motivated, bharat mata ki jai chants.

Uri: The surgical strike is required viewing for all jingos. Finally, a world class military film from Bollywood that we all can be proud of. Make time if you don't have it, but do watch it. Worth every paisa, especially with an indian audience.

Uri will cross 100 Crore at Box Office by EOD. First block buster of 2019...

The amount of burnol it is creating at liberal quarters is evident by this comment attached at the end in NDTV's article:
Uri: The Surgical Strike opened to mixed reviews at the box office. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film 2 stars out of 5 and wrote: "But for the presence of Vicky Kaushal... Uri: The Surgical Strike would have been a complete washout. It gets two stars - one for its technical sheen, the other for the male lead."

Watched URI with family in So Cal (9:30 PM show)- younger son asked simply why can't India kick Pakis out of PoK and retake. Wish we get the good people back in power to continue towards that goal. Excellent movie - must watch for all Indians/ Indic people. Not houseful but decent crowd >90% filled and huge applause at the end.

Saw URI movie. Very Good!

I thought even if a pin is out of hand grenade you can still press the lever to stop detonation. Brother in law of Vihaan Shergill accidentally takes out pin from the terrorist grenade and just kept staring at grenade.

The BIF media has two movies online next week
1. Another Hindu/Sikh girl romancing a Muslim boy.
2. Graham Staines case in Bihar where Graham Staines is shown a good person and was murdered by cunning/evil looking baniyas/brahmins. He was actually burnt to death by Bajrang Dal gang.

Yeah! I agree with the good General! More fiction than fact!! lots of errors but it is highly entertaining.
A soldier of Dogra (Jammu where they speak Dogri or Pahadi) regiment is singing a Bhojpuri song very early in the movie (He could be officer from Bihar) when their convoy is attacked in Manipur.

We are two generations of South Indian Dogras SBajwa. We are ourselves from the senior most batallion in the regt.
Those boys in Manipur were from 18 Dogra.
Also Url the militants did not actually enter the camp.
Anyhow my son started asking me a lot of questions and that is job done. I can live with the artistic license taken.

Good movie with some nice slick action scenes. Couple of bits of unnecessary stupidity like the Pakistani spy couple extracting info from what looked like a Paki 3 star general using alcohol and truth serum, and the whole fanciful drone thing, detracted a bit from what was one of the more realistic war movies made by Bollywood. Also didn't like the phrase 'Northeastern Terrorists', was in poor taste even if one can argue that no offense was intended, censor board should catch and fix such things.

Its a commercial film so all these extra bits will be there
