What was the engine? Any info?
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Good news at last. Hope other systems like Prahar etc are also tested soon.
Mango question: Speed is said to be 0.6 to 0.7 Mach. Is it normal for CMs?

Yes saar. Normal for turbojet/turbofan powered missiles.Yagnasri wrote:Good news at last. Hope other systems like Prahar etc are also tested soon.

MANIK small turbofan engine has not been certified yet. It is on the way. Today's test was designed to validate low-level flight and terrain hugging capability. An imported (Russian) engine was used.

Is 6m length of missile with booster or without ? Regardless, it can be scaled to be carried on some of our fighter jets, perhaps a bit easier than it has been with Brahmos.

The fearless #Nirbhay: The #missile followed a pre-set folded trajectory. For the first time it manoeuvred at an altitude as low as five metre to a range of 2.5 km with nice control all through the flight. Missile covered just over 650 km in 42.23 minute. @NewIndianXpress

jammu to peshawar is 450km, bikaner to jacobabad is 477km.....so both 25-30 mins flying time....a bit more to avoid any known SAMs.
all of Paks crown jewels F-solahs to terrorist camps are in the backward side now ... we need tools and plans to devastate this whole belt and not consider it a safe place.

Gwalior to Balakot is 1050kms! With Manik, the range will be upto 1500kms so plenty to route it over low-radar low-population areas.Singha wrote:jammu to peshawar is 450km, bikaner to jacobabad is 477km.....so both 25-30 mins flying time....a bit more to avoid any known SAMs.

Oriya paper report:
While the Nirbhay missiles for the first four trials were powered by the Russian-made NPO Saturn 36MT mini turbofan engines, the missile prototype launched on Monday has the indigenously designed and developed Manik turbofan engine.
Wonder which is true?

Still uses Russian engine. Manik is still long ways away.

DRDO is also planning to develop a New Smart Cruise missile with a range of 350-500 km with stealth characters to be used as Land Attack or Anti-ship weapon system for aircraft under IAF and Indian Navy. ???
what the heck is that ???

I am pretty sure that's the protective cap that is jettisoned when the boost phase is over and the turbofan engine kicks in - once the missile turns horizontal for its cruise trajectory that is. We've seen similar protective caps on other Indian missiles.dinesha wrote:This time Nirbhay has a blunt nose cone..

The shape of red painted area is definitely different. Perhaps they have a seeker integrated into the missile now, leading to this talk of anti-ship role too.dinesha wrote:This time Nirbhay has a blunt nose cone..

Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Yes, probably some kind of seeker is envisaged, may be for anti-shipping role/version.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Congratulations! And Congratulations to DRDO on another feather in its cap. Certifying Manik is important and necessary step, it will have its own challenges, but it is not an unknown like the very sophisticated auto guidance system that takes the missile as low as 5 mtrs for several kilometers.
Baki air radars will not just have to watch their front, but their sides and backsides as well. Particularly their backsides*.
*I do wish the name of our sub-sonic LACM should have been named Mamata.

this would be our desi JASSM/KH101/Scalp/Taurus with stealth shaping and coatings and very low thermal signature.kit wrote:http://idrw.org/nirbhay-missile-test-no ... ore-198335

My expert assessment of publicly available imagery from the Nirbhay missile trial shows evidence of a spectacular failure.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
The nose cap has been like that for the last few tests. I remember talking to Nilesh regarding the same. It has not been as rounded as on the first test.
Raveen sir, this nose cap is not jettisoned. The nose is supposed to be a radome. However, I am not sure that the current (orange) one is!
Current test did not use Manik engine.

Sarcastic or not, your post Mihir is stupid and self-serving. Linking it to generate traffic to your twitter account is also childish. Lots of people worked tirelessly to make this work. Your art work and analysis (if your single sentence qualifies) belittles this effort. Where's the ban hammer?ArjunPandit wrote:you deserve a perma ban for that. I found it hilarious, some humour to help us get through the week. Maybe move it to the humour thread.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
I thinks its satire on the stupid reporting by DDM & few of the self-loathing Dhimmis. Fun to read but off-topic for this thread. Only if burkha threads were working..
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
thats quite an "assessment" !! but quite apt for the humour threadMihir wrote:My expert assessment of publicly available imagery from the Nirbhay missile trial shows evidence of a spectacular failure.

I loved it! It is not a joke on the missile men. It is a joke on the eggspurts!

Anant, mihir is a very respectable member here we all learn from him. Belittling desi products is the last thing one can accuse him here. His and mine are in a "light vein". He has many followers and his comments are read and appreciated by those who matter beyond BRF too. This type of "Trafficking" is the last thing that he can be accused of, though other types I am sure he does.Anant wrote:Sarcastic or not, your post Mihir is stupid and self-serving. If I am not mistaken, he was pre-empting the rising stars of Indian (AIM) and paksitani defence anal-e-sts (schied)
It's a great day for our scientiests and engineers. Let's leave it on a positive note. on a shoe string budget they have accomplished, for which pakistan has mortgaged the entire nation.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Guys, please understand sarcasm. Mihir is making fun of assorted "defence experts" who spout absolute bilge about desi products in the media either because they are morons, or because they are acting on the directions of their masters, or more commonly both.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
You do realise Mihir, that not everyone understands sarcasm and that a lot of madrassa grads and Lahori Logic users will actually fall for it hook line and sinker?Mihir wrote:My expert assessment of publicly available imagery from the Nirbhay missile trial shows evidence of a spectacular failure.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Thanks for that vote of confidence, folks! Yes, the post was satire, targeting the idiotic “OSINT” analysts posing as experts. Like those clowns who did the “assessment” of the Balakot strike.

^^^ Mihir ji, what is this compliance with Euro 6 emissions isnt Bharat 3 enough? and how can u miss the totally communal orange color of the nose? the EC needs to look into it. i suggest we change the cap color to rainbow color. the hard working scientist might get an interview invite to Coffe with Kjo

Mihir,
Keep at it, till them presstitutes fall in line... Only way to do it is to minimize them and their reporting...

superb. mockery and treating #OSINT self proclaimed experts as the joke they are is best than "engaging" seriously with them.Mihir wrote:My expert assessment of publicly available imagery from the Nirbhay missile trial shows evidence of a spectacular failure.

Newbie question for Gurus- What kind of explosives does Nirbhay will use? Is it different from explosives being used in Brahmos? AFAIK Brahmos have benefit of kinetic energy with it which Nirbhay definitely lacks. Kindly enlighten me.
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Who are OSINT experts?
Re: Indian Missiles News & Discussions - 17 Dec 2018
Gurus,
Does Brahmos/Nirbhay has explosives like BCES, Incidiary, etc (Similar to Prithvis) or designed in special new way for better penetration:?:
