What are the odds that some major terrorist attack will happen against civilians *in Pakistan* near or during India's election season?

2/3rds majority for NDA in UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra. As someone posted before, in Pakistan it is a case of the 99.999% terrorists giving the innocent peaceloving kind and gentle 0.001% a bad name. I don't think there will be many tears shed among aam janata (in private) despite outward crocodile tears and tut-tut, sooo sad, insaniyat over insanity, Ahimsa etc. Please don't start a poll on this issue at BRF: it may get us into the news for all the wrong reasons.

Even Pakis probably realize this, in fact, thinking like Paks they would ASSUME that 99.9999% of yindoos would like to see them all dead.

We know the Pakis will stoop to absolutely any level. Best not to give them ideas.

If that is true, why are these idiots broadcasting it? This is in the same category of stupidity as broadcasting the locations of people hiding in Taj Mahal hotel during 26/11 and the barking mutt breathlessly reporting during Kargil that IA was about to launch the final assault on Tiger Hill.

My thoughts too on reading the initial post quoting the idiots. I think adminullahs should pls delete these sorts of posts. Perhaps we can be disciplined enough not to give bandwidth to Da ka Butt types who MUST broadcast these "predictions"? There can be only 2 answers: (1) their prediction is wrong, in which case it is idiotic to repeat it. (2) their prediction is right, even by sheer coincidence, which will result in the deaths of our warriors. That is absolute traitor behavior for which people get hanged or shot in most countries.

schinnas wrote:There is lot of chatter of India taking abandoned Paki BOPs in tactically advantageous positions and not letting Pakis take it back. This is along LoC, whether we will only be getting back our land, not across IB.
If there is any truth to it, it signals a new policy of making Pakistan lose land for every act or terrorism or CFV that harms Indian life (civilian or military). While India wouldn't announce it officially, neither will Pakis acknowledge it.

Yes it's coming in from multiple sources that LoC is hot and something is brewing. However, I am skeptical regarding moving the LoC itself. What should our goals be? Primarily, to move the LoC to a position where we command all dominating BOPs. That way the opposite paki BOPs would not be capable of CFV with the intent of supporting infiltration, and would be easy to punish if they attempted that.

But the problem here is that the paki BOPs we are interested in are their dominating BOPs. It is one thing to get them to vacate their BOPs dominated by us, and quite a bit different to get them to vacate their dominating BOPs, and yet more different from us occupying them (after ensuring they are not booby trapped). It is unclear - as it should be in the public domain - what our plans are, and what kind of progress we have made.

Alternately, by better use of firepower, radar and jamming techniques we could tilt the battlefield in our favour - by making our relatively weaker BOPs into the dominating ones; and convey this message to the paki counterparts on the other side. Maybe this is what is going on.

goal seems to be make them permanently vacate those BOPs and not able to crawl back....not to go forward and occupy them ourself. ie enforce a DMZ on their side.

The goal is to ensure that after the snow melts the jihadis have no good path into India.

IA, I bet, is taking over those areas that have benefited the jihadis/PA in the past.

This is not a random acquisition of territory. It is a calculated risk that the IA is taking with teh goal in mind.

LoC does not follow mountain ranges.. There are many passes that cut through the LoC. Its also has numerous bulges that lengthen the border needlessly, requiring greater manpower/bops. If this beggar was king, straightening the LoC.. or aligning it to mountain peaks making it a more 'natural' border could be an objective.

It was meant to be broadcast else Govt would not have leaked it to them. There is no way media can get hold of such info through their "sources". The only possibility is that of Govt deliberately leaking it.

There has been massive deployment by Pakistan army in the forward areas over the last few weeks, according to recent intelligence assessments.

This comes particularly in the area falling under the Pakistan Army’s 4 Corps and 10 Corps.

Pakistan Army has enhanced mobilisation of its troops along Line of Control and the International Border along Punjab as it maintains a state of “operational readiness” amid frequent skirmishes with the Indian Forces.

Heavy artillery fire exchanged by both sides. Terror facilities have been targeted to ensure there is no infiltration: Sources

Exclusive: India ready for another strike against PakistaN

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) discussed the future strategy on Pakistan, wherein Ajit Doval informed PM Modi that the three forces were ready for any action against the neighbouring country. He said they were only waiting for a political sanction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held meetings with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other dignitaries from the defence ministry, over its readiness to initiate war against Pakistan.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) discussed the future strategy on Pakistan, wherein Ajit Doval informed PM Modi that the three forces were ready for any action against the neighbouring country. He said they were only waiting for a political sanction.

To this end, PM Modi assured the forces -- Air, Navy and Army -- a free hand, while also asking them to ensure that no civilian died in Pakistan and that the targets were military-related.

The key takeaways from the meeting were:

1) The attacks will be target-specific

2) No non-military targets { :D }

3) Not only Pak-occupied Kashmir, the targets can also be inside Pakistan

4) The attacks will be pro-active, not reactive

Earlier also, after the February 14 Pulwama terror attack, PM Modi had said the forces were given a free hand against Pakistan.

Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack, that took the lives of as many as 40 CRPF personnel.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, continued to maintain Jaish was nowhere associated with Islamabad.

In retaliation to the Pulwama attack, India launched an airstrike on Pakistan's Balakot on February 26. Pakistan retaliated by bombing Indian military installations. The attempt was foiled by the Indian Air Force.

But IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistani forces and was later released as a peace gesture, as termed by Imran Khan, on March 1.

Something is cooking up. Uncorroborated Twitter chatter so far is making sense now!!

Many of us have full faith in this government to do the right thing, but even if nothing happens over the next few months, it still forces TSP to spend more of their meagre budget on defense. That in itself is a step in the right direction.

Language is Dogri, with right accent for the region. Akhnoor is between Jammu city and Rajauri, Sunderbani, Naushera areas where the F-16 and Mig-21 engagement happened.

In general it's not a big deal to see fighter jets, but so close to border is pretty new. There are some pictures showing very tight turns. Doesn't seem to be a dogfight though

Quite possible, anything is possible.

But, don't think we need to poke their AD network with a stick to check our sats, we have other assets to map out their AD networks along the border areas..

All the chatter on the interweb, and the activities of the Pakis seem to point to some sort of hard as nails approach taken up by the IA and IAF.. Ghafoora's latest tweet seems to point to some severe takleef..

Pakis are demonstrating a real life instance of the tamil phrase "Thel kottina thirudan..".. Meaning 'thief stung by a scorpion'.. just can't scream without getting caught.. All their effort spent to cultivate a bigger than life image of their fauj is now coming back to bite them strategically in their nuts..

We might soon wake up to an official announcement saying that we have 'pre-emptively brought infiltration routes under Indian control'

Pakis will get frustrated by this chanakian move by India to bleed them out. To enforce at least some retaliatory cost on India, they will try to do something adventurous. That will only be good for India as we all know how good they are at 'tactical brilliance' aka strategic blunder. Cant wait to see them sink further into Pakhanistan.

Let the Pakistanis win the propaganda battles. I don't care so long as we kick them on the field. This govt is doing a splendid job on that KPI.

ArjunPandit wrote:negi sir, I respect your view points. But my view on this is that this govt is fighting a war and doesnt mind losing some small perception battles. The big war comprise of the following objectives
1. Preciptate Implosion of pakistan at lowest cost
2. Neutralize/Minimize the threat to Indian economic centers
3. Build public opinion in India's favor so that when the facade falls not many shed a tear

Now for first, we have embarked on a 90s style long drawn wearing operations. The diff from 90s would be it's intensity, political stability (possibly) and the leap India has economically and militarily. We will tighten the grip on them like a python. Multiple fronts will be opened inlcuding balochistan, afghanistan and Iran. Now all this can't be done fast because of so many moving pieces in international stage.
My current political inclinations aside, I think this is the right way by any govt
