Arrested recovery done. And Ski-jump TO from Vik soon.

Congrats Team LCA Navy for this historic achievement. Special kudos to Cmd Mao Sir.

And congrats to all Tejas Fans too. A happy day today. Many more to come.

I read, NLCA has an impeccable record of hook engagement so far, in every single attempt.

TEDBF. (Twin engine deck based fighter)

Naval mk2 is a non starter.. the Navy isn't interested and they can't derive it easily from mwf available

Here's to making the nlca smooth landings and quick.takeoffs from vik a matter of course.

Given difference in weight, i wonder how much time it takes to swap between mig29k and nlca arrester se tips on the vik

That would seema like interesting info to look into for the future

1. Exclusive details on today's LCA Navy prototype landing on the deck of the aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya. The LCA N, piloted by Commodore Jaideep Maolankar, snagged the third wire on the deck of the ship. The target was the second wire.
2. The first take-offs happen tomorrow off the INS Vikramaditya's ski jump.
3. The twin seat Tejas N prototype makes its landing tomorrow flown by Captain Dahiya, the second test Tejas N test pilot.
4. There will be more than 20 tests of the Tejas N off the Vikramaditya. Extensive ten day intensive flying campaign underway.
5. There was 23 knots of wind at the time of approach today ... Touchdown was at a comfortable 128 knots relative to the speed of the carrier.
6. The aircraft tested today was in a clean configuration.
7. The landing has been described to me as being an anti-climax given the extensive preparations ahead of the sortie today.
8. A process of extensive documentation preceded the actual first landing today - key to officially validating a lot of the technologies being tested.
9. The preparation for the sortie was very thorough - enough fuel was carried to ensure a return to Goa in the event of the aircraft being unable to snag an arresting wire using its arrestor hook.
10. The aircraft tested today had max fuel on board and no dummy weapons.
11. The learning curve has proven to be massive - someone associated with the project told me ``How little we knew in September.''
12. Lots of tests can now be done based on the usage data generated through multiple sorties which are being flown over the next few days.

It should fit. The lifts of the Vikrant have been modelled along the lines of the Vikramaditya.

The eagle or should I say "Our Baby" has landed! The plane grows in stature every day. It is befitting that some like Mao Sir was piloting it for this momentous occasion. If the take off is as smooth (it should be - already been doing that from SBTF) it will be hard and foolish to ignore such an advanced, ready to fight aircraft.

A great moment in naval history of India. Kudos to all concerned with the program.

One Q ---> Will night landings also be attempted during this intensive trial period?

I am not sure if LCA Navy will fit the lifts on INS Vikramaditya, Can some expert confirm will it?

Not an expert but I would compare the dimensions of MIg 29 K (if i can get folded ones ) with that of NLCA
Mig 29K(wiki):
Unfolded
Length: 17.3 m (56 ft 9 in)
Wingspan: 11.99 m (39 ft 4 in)
Height: 4.4 m (14 ft 5 in)

Folded:
large-area (42 m2 vs 38 m2) folding wing from
https://www.globalsecurity.org/military ... ig-29k.htm

LCA Dimensions(wiki):
Length: 13.2 m (43 ft 4 in)
Wingspan: 8.2 m (26 ft 11 in)
Height: 4.4 m (14 ft 5 in)
Wing area: 38.4 m2 (413 sq ft)

i think it should fit comfortably. But Indranil, JayS and Tsarkar could tell with more authority

Mogambo khush hua!! Great to see this final bit of progress. The LCA and NLCA are actually 2 different planes. So this is a new aicraft and tech (spinoff from LCA). A lot of the credit should go to Mao sir for sticking around at cost to his career. That level of commitment needs to be recognized and rewarded.

Very, very happy to see this huge jump!! Now HAL/DRDO please take some risks and accelerate - increase rate of production. They should be allowed to raise equity up to 20% to allow working capital injection and then over time broken into several private entities of the Indian MIC. But not to distract, this is as momentous an occasion as the first flight of the LCA.

Just beautiful..the Naval LCA is a truly beautiful small fighter..and as someone mentioned, it was one confident and smooth landing, looking right at home. All those tests at SBTF and practice landings made this one seem perfect. Mao Sir kept it along the center line all the way to it stopping.

Also love the IN's camo scheme on the jet..wish the IAF went with a similar all over light grey scheme instead of what it has now.
