In Manipur 2/2 seats for BJP and its allies. Inner seat - BJP, outer seat -NPF (NDA). Thank you NaMo wave

So, the Kalighat hag is caught between saffron pincer from East (NE/Assam) and (West)Bihar/Jharkhand/Odissa.

it might not reflect in seats immediately but rss is on upsurge throughout the state and that even has quite a lot of sympathy from official quarters (non-pol). times are a changing.

AP (T+SA) has 42 seats. if BJP-TDP win only 17-21, it's not a victory. what is Jagan's situation?

Bengal politics has suddenly become very interesting. Didi says "Is dafa Bengal me TMC ki bari"
Firstpost ‏@firstpostin 3h

BJP showing off its power because of Cong’s anti-people policies: Mamata http://dlvr.it/5RNcGL
Chakulia: The BJP's claim that it would come to power at the Centre replacing the Congress was because of the latter's "anti-people policies", Mamata Banerjee said today and reiterated that no government in Delhi could be formed without the TMC.

"BJP is showing off its power (to replace Congress-led government at the Centre) because of Congress's anti-people policies," the Trinamool Congress chief told an election rally here in North Dinajpur district.

"Congress has sold out the country. People are fed up with the Congress. It has inflicted miseries on the people. It has increased the price of diesel, petrol and gas and tried to snatch the livelihood of crores of small traders," she said.

Alleging that the Congress and the CPI(M) were hand in glove in the state, Banerjee, the Chief Minister, claimed that change in West Bengal would not have come about if she had not formed the Trinamool Congress.

Recalling that her party had allied with the Congress in the 2011 Assembly elections, she claimed that the TMC helped it win seats and alleged that the party, on the other hand, acted like 'Mir Jafar' and assisted the CPI(M) and its allies Forward Bloc and RSP to secure seats.

Claiming that Congress, BJP and CPI(M) were not an alternative in the elections in state, but the TMC was, she said "Is dafa Bengal me TMC ki bari."

Wary of the four-way contest in the state, she criticised the BJP for trying to cut into TMC votes. "I am against the BJP. I urge you to ensure that votes are not split."

She also claimed that no government in Delhi could be formed without the TMC. "Whenever elections come Congress, BJP and CPI(M) make promises, but don't get swayed by them," she said.

She claimed that Congress and BJP which had joined hands on the Telangana issue wanted to divide Bengal, Bihar and other parts of the country.

Talked to my dad. He said that turnout in Mysore city was also very poor, about 55% or so. Overall Mysore LS constituency was around 68%.
I am surprised why people in the cities don't want to go out and vote.

Disappointing to hear about the turnout and result projection in Mysore. If BJP needs to expand into Kerala they need to be strong in DK.

why is Raj Thackery suddenly on all news channels? Aaj tak, TimesNow, CNNIBN, ABP news and 'Aap Ki Adalat' visible everywhere.

But love this man and his aggression, especially the treatment for Turdesai & Arnab.
Don't know how much Hindutva is important for this man after forming his political party keeping regional politics in mind, but he should be the person on panel debating on Hindutva if ever happens on public platform or media.

The most potent way of ensuring that the middle class goes out to vote is the threat that if they don't, their cable connections would be cut for 2 months.

Dupatta has been called a weather vane. Seems to have moderated his position.

Here is a quote from the above article.
India gave itself a secular, liberal constitution because a vast majority of all its people, in fact almost unanimously, determined that this was the finest formulation for nation-building in a land as diverse and complex as ours. The Constituent Assembly had participation from across the many ideological divides. The document it drafted has now acquired the status of scripture and nobody in mainstream politics dares to question it. The man credited with leading that process, Ambedkar, has been added to our pantheon of all-party gods.

The original constitution of India did not have Secular or Socialist in the preamble. Indira Gandhi changed the Constitution during emergency.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forty-seco ... n_of_India
The 42nd Amendment also amended the Preamble and changed the characterization of India from "sovereign democratic republic" to a "sovereign, socialist secular democratic republic", and also changed the words "unity of the nation" to "unity and integrity of the nation".

The article is full of lies and innuendo. For example,
The author says Modi never visited minority relief camps.
http://hindu.com/thehindu/2002/03/07/st ... 801300.htm
Mr. Modi visited relief camps housing the minorities and instructed the officials concerned to ensure supply of essential commodities.

Yes, it is surprising that no one challenged it in the Supreme court. And they decide all by themselves that this illegal act is a fundamental principle that all Indians must adhere to. The correct way to do it would be through a referendum or by an elected Govt constitutionally.

Since they were added during Emergency, doesn't it make the entire 42nd amendment unconstitutional? Shouldn't the BJP challenge the amendment in its entirety?

No party wants to touch this amendment because of the word secular in it. You might as well introduce another amendment with a clause called "pro-poor" in the Preamble & it will sail through Parliament

People did went to Supreme Court. It held that these words add nothing news to the constitutional scheme and Socialism in Indian constitutional meaning is not a communist dictatorship or communist economic set up has any compulsory constitutional force. Similarly Indian constitution was secular even before the amendments. Hence nothing changed due to this amendments.

No. Cannot be challenged in court because post-facto, the amendment was voted in by a quorum of sitting MPs.

I propose a codicil to the amendment that seeks to redefine 'secular' and 'socialist' in more classical terms.

Secular in India means preserving the religious demography (in addition to the diversity) of India. So any and all attempts to change religious demographics become unconstitutional...

Secular in the Indian context means diversity of thought. Limiting it three dominant varieties of religions is a fallacy. Secularism is there to ensure diversity even within the Hindu fold, to put it bluntly.

Maybe what socialism means is debatable. India is anyway far from socialist in reality.
